As of late, it’s been difficult for me and Chris to make our typical hearty breakfasts during the work week.  Or maybe we’re just lazy.  Whatever it is — we haven’t been eating the usual.  Bagels, english muffins, etc: there’s nothing wrong with it all but we used to eat the works everyday.  I guess it’s a good thing because we’ve both lost weight!

Anyway, I decided I wanted to start the New Year off right, so I decided to make these Denver Omelet Cups after reading about it in the latest Everyday Food issue.

This New Year, I decided to keep things low-key.  Chris and I had a fabulous dinner at Columbia Firehouse in Old Town Alexandria.  We both had some beer and some wine and delicious meat.  Yessir.  Meat. But to start, Chris wanted to try their Tuna Tartare Tacos — say that three times fast! — and I have to admit, tartare served in tacos?!  But you know what, they were flavored perfectly.  Tiny, but perfect.  Heh heh.

What a year, what a year. There were good times and there were bad times, but overall it was a party. Yup. A party, I say.

Started the year off with my loves and I’ve been having fun ever since. I try not to give myself crazy new year resolutions and this year one of them was a simple one: not to take anything so seriously. To chill out and not be so neurotic about the littlest things. How’d I do?

Safe travels where ever that may be! I will be heading back south in less than 12 hours and I am ecstatic.
I cannot wait til reunite with my family and friends! It’s been over two months!

After weeks of pure madness at work — it started to feel like things were winding down. Well, to me, at least. We constantly have something going on, but I felt like I gained a little bit of control, which is pretty crucial to a well-known control freak.

Last Friday, our department packed up our office because we were all moving to our new (temporary — we’ll move again in about four months) offices. It’s pretty exciting because when I started my job, I just felt like they just plugged me in and I was sitting at someone else’s desk everyday. Now I get to organize, and maybe even decorate, the way I want. Man, I really am a control freak. Anywayyy..
