RemoteDroid is an application that can interface with your home computer (PC, Mac or Linux) and act both as mouse and keyboard. The mouse is operated using the trackball or the touchscreen and the keyboard on screen works as a keyboard for the computer.

To use RemoteDroid, first you’ll need to download a server application on the computer and then download the RemoteDroid app for your phone.

Worried about your son watching porn or storing porn in his computer? Then don’t you worry. There’s a small USB stick known as Porn Detection Stick which scans for pornographic images in a computer.

The Porn Detection Stick is a pen drive that scans all the images stored on a computer hard disk. Once the files are scanned, it creates a report of all the suspected pornographic images. It is pretty easy to use, all you need to do is simple plug in the drive and then run the scan with the software.

I was wondering how it actually works. I thought that it would simply scan the file names and show suspicious files. But, that’s not true. It features advanced image analyzing algorithms that categorize images as potentially harmful by identifying facial features, flesh tone colors, image backgrounds, body part shapes, etc.

If you’re interested in buying one then it will cost you about $100.

I don’t use Excel that much but recently I had to use it. And, I decided to print the first rows in several pages. But, I didn’t know how to print first row in every Excel page. But, then my friend guided me through this. Well, here’s a small tip if you use Excel. It applies to Office 2007 and Office 2010.

How to Print First Row on a Page in Excel?

Start Excel, click on the Page Layout tab and then click on the Print Titles under Page Setup.

Under Print titles, click on the right side red arrow icon next to Rows to repeat at top.

Now, you can use the arrow to select the first row or the row that you want to repeat in each and every page that is printed.

Use the red arrow icon again and you will be taken to Page Setup screen. Click Ok.

NOTE: You can also include the row and column headings. To do so, you need to enable them under Page Layout> Sheet Options> Check Print under Headings. Now, go to Print Preview and you’ll notice that the row and column header is being printed on all pages.

Very soon we will be seeing many new movies and TV shows YouTube. If you’re a cricket fan then here’s some good news for you. DLF IPL Season 3 will be broadcasted Live on YouTube.

Well, it’s not actually LIVE but will be shown with a 5 minute delay when compared to the TV. It’s simply because only TV has the right to broadcast the matches live.

Nowadays, technology is growing at a rapid pace. I’m really impressed by the security softwares these days. Today, I came across a software known as ‘Prey’ that allows you to track a stolen laptop with ease. I was really impressed by the tagline- ‘They can run but they can’t hide’. Sounds cool isn’t it?

Prey is a small app that’s pretty light on resources. It can help you track and find your laptop if it ever gets stolen. It works perfectly on Windows, Mac and Linux. The best part is that it’s available for free and it’s open source as well!

How does Prey Work?

Prey wakes up at a specified interval and checks a URL to see if it should gather the traces and send the report. If the URL exists, Prey will simply go to sleep again. It has a wifi auto connect system as well. It checks if there’s an active internet connection to send the information. If not, it will attempt to connect to the nearest open wifi access point available.

How to Install and use Prey?

Firstly, download and install Prey from the download link below.

During installation it will prompt you to configure the client. You can configure either through http (web) or email.
If you plan to use http then you need to register with Prey first to get the API key and Device Key. If not then use the email option and give your Gmail or any other email client settings.

If you give your email ID details then the report is sent to your email directly. But, if you use the Control panel method, you’ll be able to manage your computer state and Prey’s configuration through a web page, which also keeps track of all reports sent by Prey from your device. Hence, this is preferable and less complicating.

You might have observed that the Windows 7 Start Button looks pretty much like the Vista Start button. Well, if you are bored of seeing it then you may like to change it. There’s a small app- ‘Windows 7 Start Button Changer’ that allows you to change it with ease.

Windows 7 Start Button Changer is quite small in size and is pretty easy to use as well. It creates a backup of the original button before a new button is selected. You can restore the original button in a single click if you aren’t satisfied with the change.

To change the button, download the software from below and extract the zip. Run the app as administrator. Choose ‘Select and Change button’. In the zip, you’ll get 10 samples. Browse to the folder and select any one. Voila! You should see a new button!

Got bored of ‘Google’ text on the Google search engine page? Well, you can change the text in the Google logo with ease. But, you need to have Firefox installed in order to try this little trick. Here’s how you do it:

Start Firefox and install the GreaseMonkey addon.

Once installed, restart the browser and go to Google.com

Install the Google Logo text edit script.

Double click on the Google Logo, a small box should pop up which looks like the one shown above.

You can also change the colour of the text. (You can use the following numbers- 1 for blue, 2 for red, 3 for yellow, 4 for green or any other– random)

If you’re a Facebook addict and a Google Chrome lover then here’s something cool for you. While chatting with some of your friends in Facebook chat you might have observed that some use emoticons. Ever wondered where they came from? Either they have them in their Facebook chat box or they might have memorized some of the emoticons code signs.

Well, you don’t need to memorize their sings. All you need to do is use a simple Chrome extension that displays the emoticons in the chat window. Previously, I had written about a Facebook chat smilies script that does the same job in Firefox. Just install the extension from the below link and try chatting with any of your Facebook friends, you should notice emoticons in the box!

Nowadays, there are a lot Google Chrome users. The reason for this is pretty obvious! it’s because of the speed and less resource hogging nature. Well, if you are a Chrome then I would like to share with you an extension- ‘Chrome Lock’ that allows you to lock password protect Google Chrome. No one can use Chrome on your computer without your permission. Even if the user tries to open a new tab, restart Chrome or go to another website, he won’t be able to do so without the correct password!

Using Chrome Lock
Press Ctrl+Shift+L to lock or unlock.
You can change the password by going to the settings page. Make sure that you restart the browser for the password changes to take effect.

iTunes is my favourite software when it comes to managing my music and creating playlists. I feel it’s a perfect software for anyone who wants to manage their music collections. But, I don’t like syncing my iPhone with it. But, I have a couple of friends who simply love syncing their iPods with iTunes.

Well, if you don’t own an iPhone or iPod but you have an mp3 player and you would like to sync it with iTunes then, it’s possible! There’s a small app known as iTunes Agent that does the job. It is a tiny application that runs in your system tray, allowing you to sync any mp3 player, a mobile phone or any other media device for that matter provided that is visible in the Windows Explorer with a drive letter. It supports Smart Playlists and works perfectly with Windows 7, Vista and XP, and requires iTunes to be installed.

How to use iTunes Agent?

Firstly, download iTunes Agent from the link below and run it.

Start iTunes and iTunes agent will display any new devices under ‘My Devices’ in iTunes left hand side pane.

You can add a new device by right clicking on the iTunes Agent icon in the system tray and by selecting Preferences.

Click on ‘New Device’ and add a new player. You can name the device to whatever you like, but make sure that you choose the right music folder on your device for iTunes to sync. Enter the synchronize pattern and Recognize by folder/file.

Download iTunes Agent

What is Google Redirect Virus?

Google redirect virus is a virus that’s designed to manipulate Google search results. It gets installed through a trojan horse. Whenever you use the Google search engine it hides the Google results and shows you advertisements or affiliate links related to that subject. Sometimes, it also shows you fake advertisements, popups, etc.

It shows you fake errors such as:

Internet explorer cannot open web page
filename.exe is not a valid win32 application
Setup files are corrupted; please obtain new copy of program

It is also capable of disabling firewalls and other security softwares which can then lead to a remotely accessible system. Hackers take this as an advantage and gain access to personal information such as login names, passwords, financial records etc.

How to Remove Google Redirect Virus?

There are several tools to remove this virus. But, I recommend ComboFix and Hitman Pro. ComboFix is a DOS based tool, hence you need to be little careful while using it and also make sure that you don’t run any other software while running this tool.

Download ComboFix, Hitman Pro

There’s lot of hype about the all new Apple iPad. I found it really interesting. Well, I didn’t get my hands on it yet. Hopefully, I’ll after a couple of weeks. The Apple iPad comes with 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB flash drives. Well, if you
have an iPad and you would like to view the storage space used and unused then here’s how you do it:

Click on ‘Settings’ on the Home screen.

Then click on ‘About’ at the top of the screen. You should now be able to see the used and unsed storage space.
