It's the last in this series of the Music and Waffle Show. I can't believe it's over. I watched the whole thing fall, and I never saw the writing that was... yeah.. enough Michael Buble. We've got a new remix of Kirsty MacColl. Well, no.. it's 2.5 years old actually. But it's good to hear it again (unless you're a fanatical obsessive fan and you hate us repeating old features, in which case, sorry). We've had a slight problem with our 'guess how many' competition The Magic Number this week, in that someone has stolen our bag and balls. However, our listeners can win some great prizes, if they can tell us how many nuts are in the sack. It's easy - you can even look at it on the webcam. Probably. Amazingly, Britain has come first in something. Well done us. Well, not me, James and Stephen. But well done to the others who put in some effort. James has been using the toilet in an incorrect manner. But what have our listeners been doing wrong? Local newsreader Donald McDonald is possibly not giving the reading of news his full attention this week, although it does feature grapes, Yorkshire, and a chicken. James has been watching endless dross on TV, so he's here to put together a roundup for us, and also to give you tips on who to put money on, for winning The Young Apprentice and XFactor. Ben has finally found someone else who disliked The Hangover as much as he did, and Stephen adds another food to his "the tools of Lucifer" list. There's another episode of The Only Way is Bradley Stoke. Everyone is preparing themselves for the local Need For Quickness car race. Come on, Joey! After forgetting about it for the first two weeks, and promising it the third and running out of time, we've finally managed to get Tweet of the Week together for the final show. It's the last in the series. Doesn't it feel like it comes around so quick every time? No? Oh.well..err...ok.... moving on. In a cultured week, Ben and Stephen have both been to the theatre. Different theatres. Stephen saw Shakespeare. Ben..err...didn't. Stephen held up the performance, then made a lot of noise to distract the actors. Talking of acting, the local friendly pirates have had enough of pirating, and try out at a talent show. Newsreader Donald McDonald has got all the important local news including stories about pimped-out tractors, flower show ticket touts, and a secret local extraterrestrial area. The Golden Minute is our big competition which should have a massive prize for the winner. Sadly, Ben has eaten it. There's always the prestige of getting the right answer, I guess. It's the season finale of The Only Way is Bradley Stoke. Will the mayors luncheon be a success? Our anonymous undercover investigator known only as 'Richard Cook' has sent us another audio recording. Ben is back, audible, and in front of various microphones. He's on the show. That's what I mean. Apparently the world is ending. We're not 100% sure when, although the guy who told us may have taken the details from an REM song. We just hope it doesn't happen before the end of the podcast. Newsreader Donald McDonald is trying to plan a holiday, but you'll hardly notice as he doesn't bring his personal life to work with him, for goodness sake. He's a professional. The Golden Minute is back, where you can't win some great prizes. As either Stephen or Ben forgot to get one. Oops. The Only Way is Bradley Stoke's storyline..erm.. real-world...not written..reality..line..continues with gripping stories about important life-changing things such as hair waxing. Ben gets his Kirsty MacColl track played, but it was so good, it made the rest of the Kirsty MacColl remixes look bad. It'll take some beating. Richard Cook looks into grant assistance in the local area, and probes deeply into non-profit organisations' finances. It's a first. Not only is James not present this week, but Ben is absent from most of the show. Busy behind the scenes, if you like. But Stephen doesn't have to keep the show going entirely on his own. Randy Lightpurple is helping him out by covering some of the local sport, live. We're back. Due to substantial cutbacks, we've had to cut James from the show, and Ben has gone part-time. We've got some new features (and some old ones), but it's all very reasonably priced. Unfortunately some of the money has have to go on Javier and Dave - our bodyguards - to protect us from our stalker. In the week of the royal wedding, Stephen has got some big news. It's the final part of this series of the Music and Waffle Show, so it's only right that we go out with a bang. Starting a bit too literally, we begin by blowing up the Wilso-matic machine. Our newsreader Donald McDonald is enjoying the work of the hilarious Andy Capp. However, he finds the time to write the morning's important local news, to keep the listeners up to date. In another feature that doesn't work very well in a podcast form (especially when it isn't edited and uploaded for nearly 9 months), we have a big long debate about The Apprentice and the X-Factor 2010 - as part Wilso's Reality Check. What lies have you been told? We've lied during off-air moments of the show, we've been lied to from someone else at the station, and one of us has even been lied to in a foreign language. A week later than we should have been here (Ben got a flat tyre on the way to the studio), we start our week with a "Previously NOT on the Music and Waffle Show" segment. James Wilson has gone on holiday this week, but Ben's spent some time in his shed and built a robot replacement, in the form of the "Wilso-matic". Like James, it's a combination of modern and retro. If you could have an enormous biscuit, what biscuit would you have? We put this to our listeners. Donald McDonald brings you all the latest news, including local protests, bank robberies, and marathons. Stephen has some news that came out of the blue, that was so exciting it knocked several pairs of his socks off. Yet it's not one of the top 5 stories of the week. Odd, that. We might have found out some big music news, but none of it is as new as what our club DJ from the West Midlands - Jim Borehamwood - brings to the table. In the week that most newsreaders were on strike, we got one of the finest ones. Well, of the remaining ones. Erm, yeah. Well Donald McDonald was available. Stephen's got some troubles with his CDs from the off, and wastes a lot of his time watching high-concept American shows. James' car goes to the scrapyard. Rust In Piece. He improves his wheels, but his pulling technique is no better. He also has a fight in Tesco (other supermarkets are available). We've chosen 5 big stories of the week, and got all the details for you. If you're listening to this podcast 9 months later, then that probably won't be very interesting. Apologies. There's some disagreement over what is the most important story of the week. Stephen dislikes cous cous. A lot. But not as much as he dislikes James' song choices. Incredibly, this is the last part of the current series of the continuing adventures of The Music and Waffle Show, on GlossFM. There's far too much Stephen on this week's "Previously" for some reason, but on the upside - we've got prizes galore on this show, including two snickers bars, and a doughnut, in the big competition we're calling "The Magic Number". What would you change your name to, if you were going to change it to something fun? We ask our listeners, and James does a bit of singing. Local newsreader Donald McDonald Donald has all the big local news for you, including stories about fat fingers, a rare flower, and Brad Pitt statues. We decided not to do outtakes this series. Instead, we made all the mistakes live, on-air, by accident. On a completely unrelated note, classical-music enthusiast Dave Molehill is on the show this week, to bring some culture to the show. This week he's looking at the 1812 overture. This was then ruined by James playing Take That afterwards. Half-way through the show, Stephen describes himself as "wonderful". That's more than can be said for some of his music. Dr Ben rounds off the show (and the series), on a satellite phone all the way from sunny L.A. (Long Ashton) to help a listener with a problem. It's the third week in, and Ben has actually bothered to make the "Previously on The Music and Waffle Show..." "Magic Numbers" or "THE Magic Number"? Whatever our competition is called, we've been let down again. Someone has stolen the bowl with keys in it, so what are we going to use this time? What did you do on the bank holiday weekend? James got annoyed at people not finishing things they've started, while on holiday in Barcelona. If anyone knows the local areal, it's Donald McDonald Donald, with his local news broadcasting experience. He brings the most current informational services available, as they were at the time of broadcast. We've got James Wilson's best mate back on the show, for the deepest, most-probing view of your horoscopes ever. Stephen plays a terrible record, but is his terrible record, worse than Ben's terrible joke about it? And is that worse than Stephen's terrible "big news" about Danielle Lloyd? At the weekend, Ben watched a dancing tree cut down in his prime, then stole the leaves with the rest of the angry mob. Why? He's not 100% sure. He also went on a scarecrow hunt. Worzel Gummidge was not harmed during this. We're not meant to show undue favour towards any one particular political party, and have to remain unbiased and impartial at all times. Which is why we've decided to talk about candidates massively outside of our broadcast area, who our listeners couldn't vote for if they wanted to. Obviously they're also both as good as each other. It's the second week of us broadcasting on the all-new GlossFM, and Ben gets called lazy, despite spending the entire previous day working on the show. Has Stephen gone posh? "Parster" or "paassed-er"? Ever done something you shouldn't, that you hadn't admitted to, until now? James has had a little accident, that he owns up about on air. Donald McDonald Donald has all the latest news. If only everyone would let him get through it without interruptions. Ben and Stephen have been to a secret event organised by social networking. They can't talk about it for personal reasons. James has been to a secret political event. We can't talk about that either, without risking giving undue prominence to a political party, in the middle of an election. The friendly pirates return with tales of their new courier business. It's not going hugely well. We've been reading the newspapers. Stephen's got a story about something political he wants to read, and Ben rants about irons. James thinks that hoverboards used to exist. We've got a big competition this week. But how many keys are in the bowl? It's Wednesday the 21st of April, and we're back, with another run of The Music and Waffle Show, on the all-new radio station - GlossFM. Stephen kicks off with some big local news, which Ben is really, really excited about. James has got a problem with his trousers. But will they fall down during the show? James hasn't had a problem with the "runs" before. But he's feeling a bit awkward as he can't look down on Ben anymore. Donald McDonald is back with all the latest news, including the "News Anchor of the Year", exploding mashed potato, and a local man who gets the key to the city. We've got a big competition this week, where winners can win huge prizes. It's called "The Magic Number", it involves a sock and coins, and it requires the use of the webcam. Unfortunately, the webcam was broken. Ben stops listening to Stephen during a long link, and completely ruins a perfectly formed link. Then he shows up both his, and James' knowledge of jazz music. Dr Ben is also here to solve a listener's problem. Well, he's not actually with us - he's on the phone, because he's in LA. And that's Long Ashton, Bristol, BS41 - not Los Angeles. We've booked an engineer, but they're not going to get here in time. What the hell are we going to do instead? Donald McDonald Donald is back with all the latest news regarding big bloggers, the world's best facials, and celebrities spotted locally. Ben's been to Chippenham this week. His girlfriend's sister owns a house that is opposite the one where Ben grew up. Spooky. Still, he didn't have as bad a time in Chippenham as James did last time he was there. We've had some constructive criticism regarding several parts of last week's show. Always the professionals, we debate this live on air, and Stephen donates some money to charity. Where did James go on his week off? Turns out he's been hanging out with the old-money rich folk. Turns out that Belle de Jour in real life, is a doctor working in Bristol. Well done us, for bagging a big celebrity. James and Stephen clearly weren't that bothered, as they kept interrupting Ben while he was talking about it, but we asked our listeners, who they would be, if they could be anybody from a book/film or TV show. Donald McDonald has some massive local news about a new local currency, hacking, and religious figures showing up in fried breakfasts. Stephen sends Ben off to find a record for HipHop Classics, but Ben isn't able to get it after all. He did find a massive wheel in the car park though. We also forgot to play the opening jingle at the start, but we don't think anyone noticed. What's the big new word of the year? Some etymologists have got together, to decide. Talking of things people are no longer using in general society, whatever happened to Jedward dolls? Poor pelicans. They swoop, and get the blame for major car crashes. Dr Ben phones in to help a listener with their tricky love problem, but Stephen doesn't think much to the great doctor's methods. We started this show with some problems. First, Stephen deafening the entire audience, and everyone in the studio. And his £2,000 fake-sheepskin coat has been ruined in the rain. Apparently. Then we all start clapping like Steve Wright's gang. We for some reason start slagging off Radiohead's weirder stuff. James has some time off from his main job, and he's worried he'll just waste it, like Stephen and Ben have been doing for the last few months. When a CD player refuses to play a disc live on-air, Ben and James jump to the defence of Stephen's choice of CDs. Touching, really. A man has been fined for dropping a matchstick. What punishment should he have got? Donald McDonald brings you all the latest local news, including stories about police wrongdoing, big lottery winners, and driving tests. There's a feature called Hip Hop Classics this week. Unfortunately, Ben has to go and get the CD from the vault, during the feature.* *And the song has been cut from the podcast. There has been some ridiculously big lottery wins this week. But what would you buy if you won a stupidly huge amount of money? Breast implants? Panties? A house? It's late, so cast your minds back. It's late, so cast your minds back. It's 4th November 2009, we've got a new aerial, and we're broadcasting on FM all the way from Thornbury town centre in sunny South Gloucestershire, to...err..well...a bit further than we did before. Maybe not as far as Ben would like. James is back, and he's trying something new by talking into the wrong end of the microphone for half of the show. Stephen wasn't chauffeured to the studio by Ben. That's because James has finally passed his driving test and got himself a classic car. It's a Fiat Punto, as seen on The Inbetweeners. What's the sexiest accent? Maybe it's the one used by local newscaster Donald McDonald Donald? Who knows. Just how do you induce birth? Well, as the only member of the show to be featured in a sex education video, James should be the one to ask. HipHop Classics is back. Unfortunately we've removed the song for copyright purposes, but half the fun is in how well executed and well prepared that part of the show is. We shamelessly shoehorn in some filler 'gold'. Out of date horoscopes anyone? What have you lost? Ben's misplaced the box for his Wurzels' greatest hits album. We've got Susan Boyle's new single on the show today, and James reviews the Michael Jackson film. Stephen is really excited to hear all about it. Ben's had a free show off his neighbours. He thought it was a bit over the top really. He's been feeling queasy too. And lastly, we've got a new guy on the show called Jim Borehamwood. His main purpose is to tell us what the big new club track is, on any given week. (Obviously we've cut most of it out the podcast so we don't get sued for sharing music, but you get the general idea.) If you heard the news that the remaining members of The Beatles were remastering their old stuff again, and thought "Boo! They're flogging a dead horse! Bloody el!", then you should hear the original unremastered version of "The Long and Winding Road". We've left it in for podcast listeners - completely unedited. Pretty much. James has fallen out with the council, Royal Mail, and people in duffle coats. He's also struggling to keep up with the youngsters of today, and might be smuggling illegal immigrants via taxi. Ben's improved his working situation, but he has got a problem with alcoholism, which is odd for someone who is practically teetotal. Despite the fact that we've had complaints that Apple conversation is coma-inducingly-boring, we can't resist taking some time to talk about the new iPod nano. James has a problem with his pumping. It's possible he has to stick it in a different angle, and not too deep. There's a lot of debate about Derren Brown's balls. It'll likely all be resolved by the time anyone hears this podcast. Ben and James debate how dreams work with some very high-pitched arguing. Maybe they're not recorded in the right order, like a film or TV series? Like...your brain does the opening credits after it's shot the action scenes and edits it back in at the beginning...or something? We're unable to do any rummaging because someone has taken the boxes away, and Ben receives a text message which distracts James. In the week that James opens with some advice for people looking to choose a new car, he's umming and erring on the side of caution. Ben's new feature might be endorsed by the eating disorder charity "Beat"*, but James isn't too happy with the subject matter. *No, it isn't! Ben struggles for a highlight but goes into a lot of detail about window frames. Big Brother is ending. Yay! But not for another year. Boo! X-Factor has started again. James is excited. Ben isn't watching it. James gets to call someone else gay for a change. He does it in a very butch manner, but then debates the size of Mr Blackpool's organ. Milkshake brings all the kids (and James) to the Hippodrome. There's also some debate about how the song "heads, shoulders, knees and toes" might go. Ben develops an odd speech impediment before the show is finished. Luckily he hasn't kept it since.
