How to Improve English Adjective and Adverb Superlatives

The superlative form of an adjective or adverb is used to describe the greatest or the least.

If you want to make the superlative of an adjective or adverb, add -est to the end of the word.

If the adjective or adverb ends in a -y, take off the -y and replace it with an -i and then add -est.

Usually, if a word is longer than two syllables, we leave it as it is and then add the word "most" before it.

Examples:

weak: Carol was the weakest girl in the class.

pretty: The painting that is on the wall is the prettiest I've seen!

outrageous: That is the most outrageous price I've ever paid for gas!
