Fiscal management is a necessity for almost everyone. However, not everyone wants to be bogged down by having to do their own budgeting. Frankly, sitting around balancing your expenses and income is not anybody’s idea of a preferred activity. Now when there is an app that promises to do all this for you in a much simplified process it’s quite hard to ignore it. Presenting Toshl’s financial management app. Of course, as expected, there are always strings attached. The app is not native BlackBerry, it’s an Android port.

Now downloading an Android port is not something preferred by legacy BlackBerry users. For reasons unknown, not many BlackBerry users prefer to encourage apps ported from other platforms.

Toshl is a familiar name for BlackBerry loyal’s. Toshl had great apps for legacy BlackBerry Smartphone devices. Toshl has been uncharacteristically reluctant to take the leap into BlackBerry 10. The legacy app also halted any further development since august 2012. Never a good thing when developers just desert their apps without any development. Probably why Toshl have decided to give it another shot.

The BlackBerry app world saw the launch of a brand new Toshl app for BlackBerry 10 recently. There have been several possible reasons behind this sudden change of mind. The easy porting of the app from Android is a prime contributing factor. The port enables Toshl to provide support for another platform without the added burden of overhead. This can also be construed as a response to many of the BlackBerry fans who wanted a Toshl app for the new BlackBerry. Some fans even took the trouble of creating Android ports themselves, as soon as it was out.

The app was smoothly running despite being a port. But Toshl executives expressed a desire to see BlackBerry updating their emulator middleware that can suit a recent version of Android. End users may enjoy proper and smooth usage of the apps and the middleware may also prompt increased support for the greatest and latest apps. Another wrinkle that needs to be ironed out is that of the porting.

There are quite a number of users who do not feel comfortable using ported apps. These apps find fewer takers despite doing and providing almost everything a native app can. And some users even accept that however useful the app, they cannot bring themselves to use a ported app. They want a fully native BB app.

Toshl is reluctant, however, as with their limited resources they wish to play a waiting game with the native app development. They are still trying to figure out how best to use their resources. But the main idea certainly has been to weigh in the response for the ported app.

If the ported app really seems to find favor with users, then it just might be worth their time and effort to focus on the development of a native app.

This is almost heading towards a stalemate because of user reluctance to encourage ported apps. Rejecting interesting and fascinating apps based solely on the fact that they are Android ports is not helping make the right case for the BlackBerry platform.

The users need to download Toshl financial management, give it a whirl, and make it known that the BlackBerry platform is indeed worth all the time and effort in the world.

In the age of the smart phones, having too many desktop features on your mobile device is a near impossibility. Supposing we do have certain desktop functions on the phone. Imagine if you could have side-by-side browser windows open just like with a desktop. Shuffling between open browser windows is going to be made a much simpler process. The web splitter app for BlackBerry 10 does just that. It is probably one of the most clever apps in recent times. With the help of this app, you can have two web pages open on your BB device screen with a split screen for simultaneous usage. The web splitter app also comes with many possible tweaks and features.

The app allows you to pin any number of bookmarks as you wish. The two windows can be altered according to your choice. The size of the windows can be adjusted according to your needs as well as switching to full screen mode from any one of the windows. The list of features is endless. The app is integrated with BBM and has a built-in RSS reader as a bonus, so that you may view live feeds from any or all of the sites you have bookmarked previously. This is starting to sound more and more like an app that you ‘must’ have.

The app is available for download in the BlackBerry world for a nominal price of $1.99. Considering the several features that this app gives, this is a very small price to pay. The app is obviously good value for money. Although, you may not use it very often, but the kind of productivity this app gives you makes it a certainty to have in your kitty. I will certainly have my Z10 equipped with this always. It’s not the question of constantly juggling between multiple windows. It has more to do with being given the option to do so. And having the option is frankly, very empowering.

3. Fruit Blitz: Fruit Blitz is yet another must-have game for your brand new BlackBerry 10. In this, the gamer needs to mach three fruits as they appear on the screen. This set merges into one another, explodes and returns as a wild card. It is easy to download and play on your device. The game interface and graphics are excellent and so is the display feature of the mobile. All in all, it is a good game to spend boring evenings with. It is one of the best matching games doing the rounds.

4. The Bard’s Tale: This is another of those giant digital games and stands at a mind boggling 1.5GB. This doesn’t take anything away from the game though. The BlackBerry 10 display is enough to support this giant game on a giant scale. The multiple touch options displayed on the screen are easy to navigate and understand. This downloads smoothly and there are no problems in running the game on your BlackBerry device for hours. You can now transform your mobile device into a mobile gaming console and live through many exciting game hours.

These games are perfect for BlackBerry as they compliment the phone very well. The revolutionary new BlackBerry 10 is a gamer’s paradise in every sense of the word. Get set to experience a new dimension of gaming on your BlackBerry 10 through these games. The BlackBerry app store is a great place to hunt for new and exciting games that could change the way you use your mobile.

Leading mobile magazines and sites such as N4BB, Mobile Syrup, and BBin have published pictures of the rumored BlackBerry R10 which is being touted as a low end version of the popular BlackBerry Q10. The photos of the rumored Blackberry appeared first on a Chinese website DGTle and it quickly became headlines and the topic of discussion in the ‘technosphere’. Many websites have also published specification of the rumored BlackBerry R10 which has attracted attention of mobile enthusiasts across the world. The stories carry comparisons between the BlackBerry Q10 and BlackBerry R10 and how the R10 is a low end version of the Q10.

The rumor is getting stronger each day as many websites continue to add information and pictures of R10. According to the reports, the R10 is more likely to come loaded with modern BlackBerry software which is good news for BlackBerry fans and mobile enthusiasts. This also means that the low end version will be a true bang for buck. However, if you look at the photos, you can see the low end R10 lacks premier styling that is one of the main characteristic of the costly Q10. If photos are to be believed, the R10 has components made of less costly plastic materials. The design of R10 is not exactly rectangular in comparison to Q10. Also, the R10 lacks the glossy back plate that adds to the premium look of the Q10.

The QWERTY keyboard in R10 looks flat and shallow while the BlackBerry Q10 has a marvelous chiseled keyboard. The R10 is considered to be a successor to the popular Q10. Some websites also mention R10 as BlackBerry Live. There are several differences between rumored R10 and Q10. Some of them are a low resolution camera (5 mega pixel) and 8 GB storage space which is half storage space in comparison to Q10. The battery fitted in R10 holds around 1,800 milliamp-hours of energy which is less in comparison to the Q10. Besides, the battery in R10 cannot be removed which can be considered as a drawback.

BlackBerry officials have chosen not to respond to the rumors and comments related to rumored successor of BlackBerry Q10. Experts and mobile enthusiasts have an opinion that company officials are keeping mum about R10 as they plan to reveal the rumored R10 in BlackBerry Live conference in Orlando that will be held on May 14-16.

The R10 rumors should have died after the rumored photos of Q10 were removed from the Chinese website DGTle which was the first website to publish it. However, the photos were reposted at several other places on the internet which kept the rumors alive and attracted attention of BlackBerry fans worldwide. Several BlackBerry fans are eagerly waiting for the unveiling of the rumored R10 but there is no way to confirm the news that it will happen. All we can do is wait for the announcement BlackBerry will make in its Live Conference in Orlando.

The BlackBerry 10 has come to turn the tables on the smartphone giants and this is pretty much visible through the formidable features. The latest in the BlackBerry arsenal is its new camera, which is unlike anything that Blackberry has released before. Among the many fabulous features of this new camera, there is the multi-mode shooting edge. There is simply no end to the types of photos you can click when you combine the different modes and the Time Warp advantage.

If you’re wondering what all you can do with the BlackBerry 10 camera, read on the six tips listed below to find out:

1. Create an image focus by manipulating the Focus Box:
Whenever you’re ready to snap, the screen will show a Focus Box at the center. If you want to highlight an object in the image and create a focal point in the image, just drag the Focus Box on the target image. When you have the picture taken, the target object will be in the sharpest focus point in the image.

2. Click images in multiple modes and add Scene Mood to the same image:
There are various modes for the photographer in you. You can use the Normal mode for one image, the Stabilization mode for another, a Burst mode for the third or club all three together. For instance, if you’re clicking your friends diving into the pool, you can use the Burst mode along with the Stabilization and the Normal modes for a perfect shot.
You can also add Scene Modes like Action, Snow, Night or Beach to your images. The Multi-mode and Scene Modes appear as icons on the bottom right hand corner of the screen. Customize them and get clicking.

3. Geotag your images for a neat memory:
You can add Geotags to the photos you take on the Blackberry 10 camera. Simply slide your finger from the screen top to get a drop down menu. Select ‘Settings’ and activate the Geotag Picture tab. When you look back, you can easily see the location of each image.

4. Picture review:
Sometimes you would want to check if the last shot was captured well. A thumbnail of your last picture appears on the bottom left hand corner. Hold the thumbnail and swipe it right and left. This enlarges it and you get to check the picture quality. When you release the thumbnail, it shrinks back.

5. Share your photos on the TV, Computer and Home entertainment devices through Media Sharing:
The photo gets bigger with the Media Sharing feature. Using this, you can share your photos on your TV or home entertainment systems. All you need to check for is a DLNA compatibility of the device. If your home device supports DLNA files, you can share the photos on them with your smartphone.

6. Save your pictures on your storage devices using Blackberry image links
The BlackBerry Link allows you to synchronize your smartphone with other storage devices. You can save, share, access and manage your audios, videos, images, music and all other files through this link. BlackBerry Link allows you to copy your photos to your desktop for later use. Right now you are busy capturing the next perfect picture.

All these features lend a competitive edge to the BlackBerry 10 and makes it all the more difficult to beat. Photography on a smart has never been this smart.

BlackBerry has always provided the best in data security and encryption to its customers. The BlackBerry devices have always been synonymous with great protection. Now the new generation BlackBerry, has raised the bar just a little bit more. The US DoD, Department of Defense has just cleared the new Playbook and smart phone devices running the latest BlackBerry 10 OS. The BlackBerry mobility management platform and the highly secure BlackBerry enterprise service 10 will now be used on the DoD networks. Commercial technology put to use for defense purposes. That’s a sleek combo.

After undergoing extensive security tests at the DoD labs, the BlackBerry 10 OS and the devices and services for this platform, have been approved for defense uses. The devices on the BlackBerry platform are now listed under DISA, which routinely manages the information infrastructure for defense departments. Way back in November, BlackBerry, known then as RIM, had announced that its new BlackBerry 10 would be certified as FIPS 140-2. The FIPS certification is what enables government agencies to safely use the BB 10 OS and the associated BlackBerry Enterprise server.

The Q4 of the fiscal year ended in march and BlackBerry reportedly shipped out one million of the BlackBerry Z 10 Smartphones. The BlackBerry Z10 device is the first offering that runs on the BB 10 OS. BlackBerry proudly announced a whopping six million phones shipped in the entire last quarter. With the news of the DoD approval, there can be no doubt that people will be clamoring to get a piece of the new BlackBerry 10 platform. The BlackBerry Z10 has been scrutinized in almost every possible way. And as always the 10 OS has inherited the high standard for security from their predecessors.

The DoD approval extends to the tablet as well as the Smartphone’s running BlackBerry 10. BlackBerry currently has two devices that run their brand new OS, the flagship Z10 and the new Q10. The security clearance of these phones will astronomically increase the sales and revenues of BlackBerry. Not only will they be receiving huge orders from the general public for the obvious appeal of high security. BlackBerry has undoubtedly based a majority of their market strategy around these devices and this clearance from DoD is just the right boost they need at this time.

It is also interesting to note that a Samsung device known as ‘Knox’ has also been cleared for use. This is the latest in Android based platforms and obviously a lot more secure and protected than the general Android available for regular use. The ‘Knox’ truly looks to set a benchmark in open source development with enhanced levels of security. This surely makes it a very formidable device. Needless to say the ‘Knox’ is the prime challenger to the BlackBerry devices. No doubt with the shower of new devices rumored to be launched in the coming year, BlackBerry will be a long way ahead of Samsung. BlackBerry has vaulted some very difficult hurdles to get where it is today, the ‘Knox’ hurdle shouldn’t prove to be much of a challenge.

BlackBerry 10 has a huge app-rich app world. Despite facing some unwanted criticism about not having too many popular apps on board, EA is looking to correct this false notion. So many popular EA titles have already been brought into the BlackBerry platform. The latest entrant to the EA BlackBerry club is Dead Space. Probably one of the creepiest and darker titles from EA. This game has you battling hordes upon hordes of necromorphs. Dead Space offers you six different graphically stimulating environments and choices of various game play modes. Dead Space is just as intense you always wanted.

Dead Space is the best game to enjoy some good one-on-one action. The three story modes take you into different situations depending upon your taste. Survival mode gets you a five minute unstoppable onslaught of action. Story mode keeps you playing with a thrilling story in the background. Insane killing madness is on your BlackBerry.

• Completely authentic DS story for BB 10: Lose yourself in the maze events to unleash the necromorphs. Lauded by both critics and fans alike, this is a stunning render of the thrilling Dead Space franchise. This game is a must-have in your collection.

• Survival mode: Survival mode offers to you a chance for total swish-swash action and a lot of severed necromorph parts. You need to shoot and hack your way through 4 different maps in two separate modes. Stockpile yourself with ammo weapons and suits from the story mode and go shooting. This is truly the nastiest necromorph rush offered, yet. Build various combos and earn yourself extra credits.

• A super-charged and surreal experience: Headphones are a definite must for this game. The game features a movie-quality sound score and effects plus a stereo quality soundtrack. Full immersion can only be possible by the use of headphones. Cutting edge visuals, atmospheric lighting and rich effects bring a full-fledged cinematic horror experience onto a gaming console.

Enhance your defense and offense capabilities with suitable weapon ad armor modes. Also a credit booster can be handy inn salvaging as many credits as possible from dead necromorphs.

So you’ve held out for this long, and finally picked up a Blackberry Q10. Congratulations! You have the pleasure of owning the very first Blackberry 10 QWERTY enabled device. One could say you’re a pioneer, paving the way for those who come after you but that’s not quite true in this case. Blackberry 10 is a fully fleshed out, unhindered OS. Sure, there are some things that will be added over time, but you’re not getting a buggy piece of software, you’re getting a finished product.

So, you have your device and you’ve been playing around with it a bit but you’re not sure where to start? We’re here to help! Here, are the first ten things you should do with your new Q10 after cracking open the seal.

The First Ten Things to do with Your Shiny New Blackberry Q10

Charge Your Device

This one is kind of a no brainer, especially since you’ll probably be playing with your new gadget off and on throughout the day. The Blackberry Q10 actually has the biggest battery in a BB phone to date, weighing in at 2100mAh. That sucker will certainly get you through your long days of app downloads, email replies, BBM conversations and more. If you’re always on the go, you might want to consider picking up a car charging bundle for your new device. It’s always good to have an extra place to juice up, just in case.

Set Up Your Device

If you’ve been playing around with the device for a while, this is something you may have done already but that’s okay. It’s still an important step to mention, because if you’re not signed in you can’t do much. If you want to start receiving your notifications, emails and more then you’ll have to sign in to all of your accounts- social, Blackberry, email or otherwise. There are integrated login entries for Facebook, LinkedIN, Twitter, Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, Evernote, Box, and Dropbox. You can log into all of those services directly through the Blackberry 10 accounts menu under the phone settings. Of course, there’s also support for IMAP, POP, CalDAV, CardDAV, Exchange ActiveSync, and more too. Balance is always there so you can seamlessly swap between work and personal profiles, and you can setup separate accounts on both profiles. You’ll also want to sign up for a Blackberry ID if you don’t already have one, it enables you to connect to Blackberry World and countless other BBerry services.

Lock Your Device, Prevent Unauthorized Access

Sometimes a lock screen can be a bit of a nuisance, but that’s no matter because nearly everyone stores sensitive information or data on their smartphone. With so many apps available in the respective marketplaces, it’s impossible to keep sensitive data off your device completely. One of the most traditional ways to keep intruders from obtaining said information is to lock down your device. You can setup a simple unlock code through the Blackberry Settings which will keep your device closed until someone enters the password. You can also track your device if it gets lost or stolen through Blackberry Protect, and that includes finding its location via GPS.

Install Blackberry Link

At some point you’re going to need to connect your Blackberry to your home computer. There’s many reasons for doing so, transferring files and documents, backing up photos and more. The easiest way to sync your data cross-platform is through the Blackberry Link desktop software. With it, you can manage storage on your device, install important OS updates, backup media and transfer it and much much more.

//-->

<script type="text/javascript"

Get Used to the Screen Gestures and Keyboard Shortcuts

While the Q10 and Z10 are pretty much the same, there is one huge difference thanks to the QWERTY keyboard. In addition, to all of the standard screen gestures that the Blackberry 10 OS employs, the BBerry Q10 also makes use of physical keyboard shortcuts. Instant Action is a unique feature that allows you to start typing anything in universal search. You can look for apps on Blackberry World, emails, BBM messages, and even compose some of those elements right from the search screen. It takes a little while to get used to but keep at it, you’ll get there! The keyboard shortcuts are also incredible once you start using them. Try them out, you won’t be disappointed. Of course, you’ll also want to get familiar with some of the gestures you need to navigate the device. There are plenty of helpful how-to videos and tutorials available too.

Download Some Apps!

Now that you have everything set up, including accounts (and your Blackberry ID we hope) you can start fiddling around with the device more. Why not go download some apps from Blackberry World? One thing in particular worth mentioning is that when compared to the its larger brethren (the Z10), the Q10 has a smaller aspect ratio of 1:1. That means some apps currently available in the store don’t take advantage of the smaller screen size. Don’t worry though, it won’t be long before developers get some support builds uploaded. For the most part, all apps in Blackberry World will work fine with your Q10. So, get out there and get some of those apps!

Personalize Your Device

That shiny new Q10 is all yours now. Why not make it even more so by personalizing the OS to your tastes? You can setup custom wallpapers, custom ringtones and notifications and more. You can even customize how some of the notifications work and set different sounds for each contact in your phonebook. That last feature in particular is ideal because it helps you know when Mom is calling or texting without even looking at the screen.

Pick Up Some Accessories

As most women would say, it’s all about accessorizing! We already talked about picking up a car charging adapter, but what about external cases, holsters and more? Even though the Q10 is relatively new on the market, there’s plenty of accessories out there for it already. If you’re not sure where to look, you can even visit Blackberry directly to shop for some additional stuff!

Don’t Forget You Can Sideload Apps

Just like with the Blackberry Z10, you can sideload Android apps onto your new Q10. If Blackberry World doesn’t have the specific app you’re looking for, then this is the best way to go about getting it early. We recommend only doing this for apps you absolutely cannot live without, because they were never designed for the Blackberry platform (they are native Android apps, after all) there may be lots of bugs and performance issues. This option is particularly useful for anyone that’s switched over from the Android platform to Blackberry 10- it offers a more seamless integration with apps you originally used on your Android. With the Q10, you might run into some design issues because the display is smaller but most everything should still work. You can check out our useful sideloading guide here to learn how to do this.

Start Snapping Some Photos

The Blackberry 10 Time Shift camera is phenomenal. You’ll never realize just how amazing it is though, until you start actually using it. Get out there and start snapping some photos with your device! Get the perfect family picture, snap some great environment shots or even take a walk around town to capture the perfect image. The beauty of smartphones is that while not all of us are photographers by trade, we can snap some truly amazing stuff just with our smartphones in hand. The Blackberry Q10 is no exception to that rule, so get snapping!

BlackBerry Q10 is raking rave reviews. BlackBerry’s latest smart phone is selling like hotcakes. A popular U.K. based retailer has already named it as the “best selling smart phone ever.” In Canada, the home of BlackBerry, people are being made to wait for as long as two days for the latest BlackBerry device.

BlackBerry is launching Q10 simultaneously in many markets. Here are the reports from three key markets: Canada, the home of BlackBerry, the U.K., where the phone is selling better than expected and the U.S., which is a major market and where the device will not be launched until next month.

Canada

BlackBerry was launched in the Greater Toronto on Wednesday. BlackBerry plans to expand it to the rest of the country before the end of this week. A strong demand is being reported in Toronto.

According to chief operating officer at BlackBerry, Kristian Tear, the company was making sure there was enough supply to meet such strong demand.

The United Kingdom

A popular retailer in the country is reported to have sold 2,000 BlackBerry Q10 units within first 90 minutes of the phone’s launch there. The sales in the U.K are exceeding the company’s expectations.

A blogger who reportedly witnessed this phenomenon first hand commented that the store employees were bringing BlackBerry Q10 smart phones in baskets, hundreds at a time. According to the blogger, there were no phones left by 3 p.m. He also reported about people trying to secure stock for the next day.

The United States

The phone is garnering mixed reviews in the U.S. BlackBerry has not launched the phone in the States yet. It plans to bring its latest device in this key market sometime during the next month. The phone is expected to get positive response in the U.S. too, especially among the people who loved the previous physical QWERTY keyboards of the BB’s earlier devices.

BlackBerry Q10

Q10 features a new keyboard version which is especially getting popular among business people, and traders and bankers on Bay Street. In fact, businesses and enterprise users are purchasing the new devices in bulk.

Too early to say

Although the phones are selling well in the U.K., much better than the BlackBerry Z10, however, it is too early to say anything. Z10 created a similar uproar when it was released earlier this year. The sales of that touch screen devices are now leveling off, and in some areas falling. The phone failed to make an impact in a major market, the U.S.

Features

BlackBerry Q10 features 16 GB internal memory and 2GB RAM. It has an 8 MP primary camera with LED flash. It has a 3.1-inch screen. The phone runs on BlackBerry 10 OS. This phone provides the beleaguered Canadian company to come back on the smart phone scene. Even though the earlier BlackBerrys were the rage in the mid-2000s, the company has been practically absent in the smart phone market for a couple of years now.

BlackBerry has given an official statement confirming their possible partnership with ISEC7 to provide BB 10 customers with BlackBerry Readiness services.
All these services are intended to help organizations and individuals make the switch to the latest enterprise services from the older versions of BES. BES 10 gives companies the option of integrating iOS and Android systems along with the BlackBerry devices. `

ISEC7 is a world renowned software solutions and business services provider for mobile devices. ISEC7’s global motility services will serve to leverage the enterprise mobility platform of BlackBerry, thereby, offering the customers a chance for a smooth transition.

BlackBerry has confirmed that their brand new device, the BlackBerry Q10, will be made available to Canadian customers from the first of May. Canadian carriers will be offering the device at a subsidized rate of $199, needing you to sign a three year contract. The phone will be available with almost all major retailers. The Q10 is a successor to the hugely popular and successful BlackBerry Z10. The Z10 was the first device that incorporated BlackBerry’s brand new OS, BB 10. The Q10 is a one of its kind device incorporating a physical keyboard to go with a stylized touch screen.

The Q10 is reminiscent of the old BlackBerry’s physical keyboards. The Q10 comes with its own physical keyboard with a small touch sensitive screen. The Q10 has been rated first-hand by many well known tech editors who report that the device is simply the best keyboard they have seen recently. It runs the innovative BlackBerry software on the most simplistic and nostalgically designed device. The physical QWERTY keyboard is something that is part of the BlackBerry’s style statement. And its fans treat it as such. Thus, it is welcome news that the new device will be coming with a QWERTY keyboard.

UK is the first country to receive delivery of these devices and they are now available exclusively at Selfridges store in London. Availability at other stores in UK is unknown and no exact release date has been decided yet. Reports suggest that by the end of the month BlackBerry may be available in the UK. The U.S launch too is equally unclear. However, some sources seem to believe that the phone will launch by the end of May and the U.S. carriers may charge as much as $249 per device with a contract period of two years. T-mobile customers anxiously awaiting the release of the BlackBerry Q10 will breathe a small sigh of relief.

Photo" />T-mobile offered its customers the unique opportunity to sign-up to receive notifications regarding the device’s availability from April 29 onwards. While Canadian carriers will begin delivery of the device form 1st May onwards, deliveries in the U.S may begin by June, at the earliest. However, BlackBerry Q10 is a device made with a specific target audience in mind. The loyal BlackBerry fans who have persistently stuck with their beloved BlackBerrys will find it extremely appealing.

The BlackBerry Z10 has already shipped nearly a million devices worldwide. BlackBerry revenues have been constantly on the up. The Z10’s smart phone design is very current and trendy but old school BlackBerry diehards still prefer the charm of the QWERTY keyboard. Although, capturing the target audience may not be that much of a problem for BlackBerry. However, increasing their fan base and getting more and more people to like the Q10 is a daunting task. Simply speaking, years of typing on touch screen phones has accustomed people to the touch keyboards. Suddenly put a physical keyboard in their hands and surely they are bound to hesitate. Now it remains to be seen how the Q10 attracts the audience.

It has been over 3 months since BlackBerry launched its new OS. The flagship device, the BlackBerry Z10 has been pulling steady sales. The to-be-launched Q10 is attracting a varied clientele already. But the dearth of variety is fully present to loyal BlackBerry users. The Z10 is a great device, design-wise and performance-wise. But it’s difficult to get everyone to like each design.

There are some who would brood over the possibility of a switch to the new BB10, provided they are shown variety. BlackBerry is prepping newer devices every day to meet this need. Rumors abound that there is a 5-inch tablet on the way.

Amidst such news is also news of a new design patent awarded to BlackBerry. From hearsay, the Canadian manufacturer is seriously considering a Torch like device for BB10. The new device is rumored to have QWERTY with a slide up screen. Filed way back in December ‘11, BlackBerry finally got its patent approved of this device. The BlackBerry Z10 won over the customers around the globe. This new BB10 successor to Torch is, needless to say, eagerly awaited.

From the spec drawings provided, this looks to be implementing a slick combination of the Z10’s candy bar looks and Q10’s enhanced productivity. This is sure to garner a massive interest from casual and business users alike. BlackBerry live, the planned annual showcase for BlackBerry devices is just round the corner.

Mid-May will see a more sophisticated selection of devices debuting from BlackBerry. Fingers crossed that the BB10 Torch is among them. The all touch aesthetic of the Z10 with a sleeker Q10 keyboard lying underneath is a combo too good to ignore.

BlackBerry’s die-hard supporters in some parts are still awaiting the traditionally designed Q10. The slider portrait QWERTY doesn’t seem too far away from there. The next phase-plan of the BB10 will have to be all about variety. BlackBerry is going up against some formidable opponents in the smart phone market. The Z10 made a noticeable dent on their businesses. The newer devices will need to offer much more variety to combat the current market monopoly of iOS and Android.

The BlackBerry’s enterprise productivity levels have always been unparalleled. But business users have been reported to have some reservations about an all touch smart phone. The Q10 has been just the start. The Torch will be the first in a series of new devices that will attract BlackBerry loyalists and fresh customers alike.

The new range of devices will be aimed at enterprise segment customers who give priority to productivity. BlackBerry’s well known productivity element combined with sleek touch designs, will give the new designs a notable edge over a majority of the competition.

Always the giant killer, BlackBerry looks to usher in a renewed flurry of BlackBerry devices, akin to the times of old when BlackBerry was something of a style mascot. The new devices running the BB 10 OS will have all imaginable tools of productivity at their disposal. Come May, we are in for a treat of innovative devices.

The Dark Knight rises was the epic finale of Christopher Nolan’s reboot of the Batman comics. The movie, needless to say garnered an epic reception. The Dark Knight games too have been one of the most popular games on iOS and Android platforms. BlackBerry lovers missing this awe-inspiring game on their devices, here’s some good news for you. “The Dark Knight Rises” is now available as a game for BB 10 users. Inspired wholly by the movie, the game entails exciting action game play.

For those of you who have no clue what the dark knight is all about, you will don the role of Billionaire, businessman and vigilante-by-night Bruce Wayne. You have been on a sabbatical for almost eight long years. However, it is time for you to resurface to meet your worst nemesis, bent on tearing you and your legacy of Batman down, piece-by-piece. Sounds interesting? You bet. Face Bane in an encounter of epic proportions. You can count on your allies to “prop you up” when you need it.

• A truly sensational gaming experience: The game play includes missions pertaining to the storyline as well as random scenes that bring you closer to the experience of living the life of a superhero. Bolster your credentials as the protector of Gotham City by dealing various jail breaks, bomb squads, car chases and hostage situations. The thrill of actually being in the thick of the fight is what is sure to draw you into the game. Sharp moves and cinematic action effects introduce the experience of actually fighting like Batman. You may collect certain items hidden in the city and unlock fighting skills and upgrades for Batman.

• The Dark Knight game play: You play as the idealistic Dark Knight, fully knowledgeable of every tool and weapon at your disposal. Familiarize yourself with all the tools in Batman’s arsenal. The Grapnel, to swing your way across the city or attack your foes. The Batarang, to combat distant enemies or simply hit distant buttons. It’s your party, do as you please. Kicks and gadgets apart, Batman has cool vehicles at his disposal. The Bat-Pod is your special friend for focused vigilante missions. The Bat meanwhile, helps you get places quickly.

• Experience Gotham from a whole new perspective: The awe-inspiring city of Gotham is now at your fingertips. Explore the different districts of Gotham on this huge map. The stunning game graphics completely draw you into Batman’s dark universe.

Gameloft had been pretty guarded about this game’s entry into BlackBerry devices. The Dark Knight arrives to BlackBerry at last. The BlackBerry world now offers you this spectacular piece of game play for only $1.99. Downloading the game however, may need Wi-Fi access as it takes well over 900MB of storage space. This is also an important factor your device is space constrained. The beautiful graphic render on the BlackBerry 10 devices is the ideal companion for this highly scintillating game. Download it and get ready to match your wits with the lethal Bane. The fate of Gotham is in your hands.

It seems like only yesterday we were tapping our fingers waiting around for the release of Blackberry’s first flagship device the Z10. Now, we’re doing the same exact thing as we wait for the release of the Q10, Blackberry’s first QWERTY equipped BB10 device. We’re right there, we can see the launch date in view yet it’s not quite here yet. That doesn’t mean we’re not gearing up getting ready to try out the latest and greatest.

It looks like Blackberry is doing the same thing and readying for the launch too. In fact, a whole slew of documentation, videos and pamphlets were released by Blackberry on the upcoming Q10. There’s nothing unveiled about the device that we didn’t already know, but it’s still great to look at. Let’s just say it’s enough to hold you over for a few days until the real thing is in your hands.

Want to read some of the documents for yourself? Go ahead, here are the links all neatly outlined for you. I’ll even break them down one by one with a short description.

The “Safety and Product Information” pamphlets are pretty straightforward. They tell you all the necessary safety information and regulations pertaining to the device in question. That’s where you’ll find the FCC compliance report and various warnings.

The “How To” guide is essentially an all-purpose FAQ that lists activities you might want to do on your device and how to go about doing them. It also outlines the inner workings of the Blackberry 10 operating system in full detail. Many of us already know a lot of this information from playing around with our Z10. New Blackberry owners are certainly encouraged to check most of this informative documentation out.

The Blackberry Q10 “User Guide” is, well, the user guide for the device. If you purchase a Q10, then one of these handy guides will come bundled up in the retail packaging with your phone. This is just a secondary digital copy in case you lose the other one. Of course, it’s available to look at now if you want to get a jump start.

The “Tutorials” video is also pretty straightforward. All you have to do is select an action or “tutorial” from the menu list and a short video will guide you through the process. For example, if you need to know how to set up BBM for the first time on your Q10, there’s a video that will take you through the entire process from beginning to end.

The “Troubleshooting Wizard” is a general help guide for when you run into problems. Obviously, you need the device in your hands first before you can run into any problems, but I digress. Right now there are only three problems, and their solutions, listed. Hopefully, Blackberry will expand this information over time to include more useful guides.

Well there you have it folks. If you’re really jonesin’ for some Q10 on the eve of the official launch, then you should definitely check out some of this helpful stuff.

BlackBerry’s all new OS, BB10, is grabbing eyeballs around the world. Its flagship device, the BlackBerry Z10 reportedly sold a million devices by the end of March. BlackBerry is looking to make this a habit now.

The launch preparations for the Q10 device, set to be released to stores at the end of this month, are in full swing. But marketing the Q10 device is not all that BlackBerry is interested in right now.

Recent rumors seem to suggest that BlackBerry may be working on a hybrid 5-inch phone/tablet, otherwise known as a Phablet.

Analysts and internet bloggers report that BlackBerry is preparing the launch of three new smart phone’s this year. Purportedly, this will include a QWERTY mid-range smart phone; touch smart phone for mid-range and Phablet with a 5-inch screen. The Phablet may look very much like BlackBerry’s flagship device, the Z10.

Rumors regarding a possible 5-inch tablet from BlackBerry that could replace the PlayBook have been around for a while. This is possibly the first solid step in this direction.

Samsung attribute the Phablet concept to Samsung. The Galaxy note was the first step in making a tablet/phone hybrid popular. The wide recognition gained by this concept has some manufacturers like Canadian BlackBerry, thinking. The 5-inch hybrid Phablet is a relatively unexplored market. Just a few weeks down the road, BlackBerry may come out with a new device which is rumored to appear similar in looks to the flagship product Z10.

5. Notification count
The new ‘peek’ motto of BlackBerry has all information available to the user with simple gestures. Keep track of your notifications of various incoming communications. All notifications will be found arranged in a neat little sidebar.

6. Sections
BlackBerry 10 features several sections within menus. Users need to manage these sections to prevent unwanted cluttering. Proper management of the hub interface will ensure a smooth flow of important communication.

7. BlackBerry Hub
The hub, as the name suggests is a hub which can effectively handle all of the phone communications. Accessibility is of prime importance to the hub. This is done through the use of a simple peek gesture.

8. Do Not Disturb/ BlackBerry Clock
The pressures of life render a small nap virtually impossible. All naps are by rule interrupted by a forlorn ring of the phone. BlackBerry has a built-in DND feature for just this reason. Time for some forty winks.

9. Accidental dialing
Pocket dialing has been a menace ever since mobile phones existed. Unknowingly touchscreen gets unlocked in your pocket. Now this can be counterproductive if you were to call your boss while watching a cinema. BlackBerry lets you choose an option to activate the screen only with the press of a physical button too.

10. Moving apps
BlackBerry has an ever expanding marketplace. Users download fresh new apps every day. But the apps are placed in the download order on the home screen. This however, can be changed by simply holding and dragging the app where you need it.

We’ve all had those moments, where you fumble around in the dark for minutes trying to find the charging port on your device just so you can plug in the power adapter and get some more juice. It happens to the best of us even if we don’t want to admit it. I cringe every time it happens because I don’t want to scratch up the side of my beautiful Z10, but that happens too.

Thanks to a delightful and totally free app from Blackberry World, now I can find all my ports even when it’s pitch black in my room. The app is called Night Ports, and it’s incredibly simple yet extremely useful. In fact, I’m amazed at just how useful something like this can be. All it chiefly does is show icons on your screen in the dark to show you where the necessary ports are located. Simple, but brilliant!

As you can see from the images, the indicators point directly to various ports and buttons on the device to help you find their location in the dark. There are indicators for the volume rockers, power and standby button, 3.5mm headphone jack, charging port and of course the mini HDMI port. If you want a better example of what the app displays on your screen then checkout the full screenshot below.

Of course, the app also includes the current date and time, as well as a battery life indicator. These additional indicators are pretty much surplus, and you don’t genuinely need them, but they are convenient nonetheless.

The whole point of this app actually is convenience really. Hit up the widget below if you want to check out the app for yourself. It’s totally free and there are no advertisements to worry about- which is certainly a good thing. Most free applications get bogged down by pop-up advertisements or in app purchases. Night Ports is a relatively simple and efficient application to beef up functionality of your Blackberry 10 device.

Application of security control systems on conventional desktops and laptops is fairly simple. Recent trends however, have employees bringing in their own devices to the workplace. The trend has caught on among many employees and is quite difficult to stop.

The mélange of device connectivity, productivity and portability offered by tablets and other hybrid devices is something that surely cannot be ignored for too long. This format can be instrumental in ushering the era of mobile devices which can support true Virtualization. The security concerns arising over using these devices is however, a minor glitch.

The three big names in tablet computing have all sought to address these issues with their own strategy. Recent audits on these audits reveal that Samsung falls short when it comes to providing enterprise level security. The BlackBerry PlayBook fared much better in comparison to Samsungs Galaxy Tab and Apple iPad. But there was however, an obvious chink in their armor. The desktop softwares were found lacking when it comes to encrypting files backups, at least not by default.

The PlayBook was able to trump the other two tablet devices providing for an active workspace-personal space separation. This becomes extremely important when we factors in the constantly escalating BYOD trend. Each of these three devices is capable of supporting Exchange Activesync, which enables configuration and management of the device via a remote central exchange server.

The data protection capabilities of Apple iPad are robust, limiting the general damages. However, there is the possibility of security breaches due to regular jailbreak attacks, pointless disk encryption unless you employ a strong passcode.

The iPad’s disk encryption scheme is fairly robust; however, iTunes backups store simple clear text files by default. This cannot be acceptable by any enterprise standard. The BlackBerry’s approach is essentially similar. The BlackBerry PlayBook’s encryption however, can claim a much higher level of security.

The Samsung device does not come with any locked bootloaders, however, the built-in disk encryption is resulting in a highly fragile support rendering the device rather tough to use every day. Even with different encryption, Samsung’s fatal flaw is that it allows storage of data on any ordinary SD card ported with the device.

Nonexistent management tools do not allow the device to live up to industry standards. The most disturbing thing, however, is a lack of scalability. Maneuvering devices numbering anything higher than a small number of Galaxy tablet devices within any given work environment. This is something that has even the iPad worried.

The BlackBerry PlayBook on the other hand, gives an astounding level of severance for the user data. Personal and work modes are now separated with greater ease. The all round construction of the BlackBerry PlayBook enables the implementation of focused biz data wipes, all the while, ensuring personal data security.

An increasing number of merchants are coming up with third-party tools designed to reduce security glitches arising in these devices for a secure corporate work environment. BYOD management’s relevance and effective security mechanism were previously far from the jurisdiction of the device context. The rising trend of BYOD however, has turned to focus on the issue of context and its many security repercussions.
