Now downloading an Android port is not something preferred by legacy BlackBerry users. For reasons unknown, not many BlackBerry users prefer to encourage apps ported from other platforms.

Toshl is a familiar name for BlackBerry loyal’s. Toshl had great apps for legacy BlackBerry Smartphone devices. Toshl has been uncharacteristically reluctant to take the leap into BlackBerry 10. The legacy app also halted any further development since august 2012. Never a good thing when developers just desert their apps without any development. Probably why Toshl have decided to give it another shot.

The BlackBerry app world saw the launch of a brand new Toshl app for BlackBerry 10 recently. There have been several possible reasons behind this sudden change of mind. The easy porting of the app from Android is a prime contributing factor. The port enables Toshl to provide support for another platform without the added burden of overhead. This can also be construed as a response to many of the BlackBerry fans who wanted a Toshl app for the new BlackBerry. Some fans even took the trouble of creating Android ports themselves, as soon as it was out.

The app was smoothly running despite being a port. But Toshl executives expressed a desire to see BlackBerry updating their emulator middleware that can suit a recent version of Android. End users may enjoy proper and smooth usage of the apps and the middleware may also prompt increased support for the greatest and latest apps. Another wrinkle that needs to be ironed out is that of the porting.

There are quite a number of users who do not feel comfortable using ported apps. These apps find fewer takers despite doing and providing almost everything a native app can. And some users even accept that however useful the app, they cannot bring themselves to use a ported app. They want a fully native BB app.

Toshl is reluctant, however, as with their limited resources they wish to play a waiting game with the native app development. They are still trying to figure out how best to use their resources. But the main idea certainly has been to weigh in the response for the ported app.

If the ported app really seems to find favor with users, then it just might be worth their time and effort to focus on the development of a native app.

This is almost heading towards a stalemate because of user reluctance to encourage ported apps. Rejecting interesting and fascinating apps based solely on the fact that they are Android ports is not helping make the right case for the BlackBerry platform.

The users need to download Toshl financial management, give it a whirl, and make it known that the BlackBerry platform is indeed worth all the time and effort in the world.

The rumor is getting stronger each day as many websites continue to add information and pictures of R10. 1. Create an image focus by manipulating the Focus Box:
Whenever you’re ready to snap, the screen will show a Focus Box at the center. If you want to highlight an object in the image and create a focal point in the image, just drag the Focus Box on the target image. 2. Click images in multiple modes and add Scene Mood to the same image:

4. Picture review:
Sometimes you would want to check if the last shot was captured well. A thumbnail of your last picture appears on the bottom left hand corner. Hold the thumbnail and swipe it right and left. This enlarges it and you get to check the picture quality. When you release the thumbnail, it shrinks back.

5. Share your photos on the TV, Computer and Home entertainment devices through Media Sharing:
The photo gets bigger with the Media Sharing feature. Using this, you can share your photos on your TV or home entertainment systems. All you need to check for is a DLNA compatibility of the device. If your home device supports DLNA files, you can share the photos on them with your smartphone.

BlackBerry is launching Q10 simultaneously in many markets. Here are the reports from three key markets: Canada, the home of BlackBerry, the U.K., where the phone is selling better than expected and the U.S., which is a major market and where the device will not be launched until next month.

Canada

BlackBerry was launched in the Greater Toronto on Wednesday. BlackBerry plans to expand it to the rest of the country before the end of this week. A strong demand is being reported in Toronto.

According to chief operating officer at BlackBerry, Kristian Tear, the company was making sure there was enough supply to meet such strong demand.

The United Kingdom

A popular retailer in the country is reported to have sold 2,000 BlackBerry Q10 units within first 90 minutes of the phone’s launch there. The sales in the U.K are exceeding the company’s expectations.

A blogger who reportedly witnessed this phenomenon first hand commented that the store employees were bringing BlackBerry Q10 smart phones in baskets, hundreds at a time. According to the blogger, there were no phones left by 3 p.m. He also reported about people trying to secure stock for the next day.

The United States

The phone is garnering mixed reviews in the U.S. BlackBerry has not launched the phone in the States yet. It plans to bring its latest device in this key market sometime during the next month. The phone is expected to get positive response in the U.S. too, especially among the people who loved the previous physical QWERTY keyboards of the BB’s earlier devices.

This move is reportedly, in accordance with the demands of certain customers who have expressed concerns regarding any such proposed transitions. The BlackBerry experience forums have presented the company with data regarding the customers’ needs. This has effectively led to BlackBerry and ISEC7 joining hands to smoothly bring about the next business revolution.

The Q10 is reminiscent of the old BlackBerry’s physical keyboards. The Q10 comes with its own physical keyboard with a small touch sensitive screen. The Q10 has been rated first-hand by many well known tech editors who report that the device is simply the best keyboard they have seen recently. It runs the innovative BlackBerry software on the most simplistic and nostalgically designed device. The physical QWERTY keyboard is something that is part of the BlackBerry’s style statement. And its fans treat it as such. Thus, it is welcome news that the new device will be coming with a QWERTY keyboard.

UK is the first country to receive delivery of these devices and they are now available exclusively at Selfridges store in London. Availability at other stores in UK is unknown and no exact release date has been decided yet. Reports suggest that by the end of the month BlackBerry may be available in the UK. The U.S launch too is equally unclear. However, some sources seem to believe that the phone will launch by the end of May and the U.S. carriers may charge as much as $249 per device with a contract period of two years. T-mobile customers anxiously awaiting the release of the BlackBerry Q10 will breathe a small sigh of relief.

T-mobile offered its customers the unique opportunity to sign-up to receive notifications regarding the device’s availability from April 29 onwards. While Canadian carriers will begin delivery of the device form 1st May onwards, deliveries in the U.S may begin by June, at the earliest.  However, BlackBerry Q10 is a device made with a specific target audience in mind. The loyal BlackBerry fans who have persistently stuck with their beloved BlackBerrys will find it extremely appealing.

The BlackBerry Z10 has already shipped nearly a million devices worldwide. BlackBerry revenues have been constantly on the up. The Z10’s smart phone design is very current and trendy but old school BlackBerry diehards still prefer the charm of the QWERTY keyboard. Although, capturing the target audience may not be that much of a problem for BlackBerry. However, increasing their fan base and getting more and more people to like the Q10 is a daunting task. Simply speaking, years of typing on touch screen phones has accustomed people to the touch keyboards. Suddenly put a physical keyboard in their hands and surely they are bound to hesitate. Now it remains to be seen how the Q10 attracts the audience.

There are some who would brood over the possibility of a switch to the new BB10, provided they are shown variety. BlackBerry is prepping newer devices every day to meet this need. Rumors abound that there is a 5-inch tablet on the way.

Amidst such news is also news of a new design patent awarded to BlackBerry. From hearsay, the Canadian manufacturer is seriously considering a Torch like device for BB10. The new device is rumored to have QWERTY with a slide up screen. Filed way back in December ‘11, BlackBerry finally got its patent approved of this device. The BlackBerry Z10 won over the customers around the globe. This new BB10 successor to Torch is, needless to say, eagerly awaited.

From the spec drawings provided, this looks to be implementing a slick combination of the Z10’s candy bar looks and Q10’s enhanced productivity. This is sure to garner a massive interest from casual and business users alike. BlackBerry live, the planned annual showcase for BlackBerry devices is just round the corner.

Mid-May will see a more sophisticated selection of devices debuting from BlackBerry. Fingers crossed that the BB10 Torch is among them. The all touch aesthetic of the Z10 with a sleeker Q10 keyboard lying underneath is a combo too good to ignore.

BlackBerry’s die-hard supporters in some parts are still awaiting the traditionally designed Q10. The slider portrait QWERTY doesn’t seem too far away from there. The next phase-plan of the BB10 will have to be all about variety. BlackBerry is going up against some formidable opponents in the smart phone market. The Z10 made a noticeable dent on their businesses. The newer devices will need to offer much more variety to combat the current market monopoly of iOS and Android.

The BlackBerry’s enterprise productivity levels have always been unparalleled. But business users have been reported to have some reservations about an all touch smart phone. The “Safety and Product Information” pamphlets are pretty straightforward. They tell you all the necessary safety information and regulations pertaining to the device in question. That’s where you’ll find the FCC compliance report and various warnings.

The “How To” guide is essentially an all-purpose FAQ that lists activities you might want to do on your device and how to go about doing them. It also outlines the inner workings of the Blackberry 10 operating system in full detail. Many of us already know a lot of this information from playing around with our Z10. New Blackberry owners are certainly encouraged to check most of this informative documentation out.

The Blackberry Q10 “User Guide” is, well, the user guide for the device. If you purchase a Q10, then one of these handy guides will come bundled up in the retail packaging with your phone. This is just a secondary digital copy in case you lose the other one. Of course, it’s available to look at now if you want to get a jump start.

The “Tutorials” video is also pretty straightforward. All you have to do is select an action or “tutorial” from the menu list and a short video will guide you through the process. For example, if you need to know how to set up BBM for the first time on your Q10, there’s a video that will take you through the entire process from beginning to end.

The “Troubleshooting Wizard” is a general help guide for when you run into problems. Obviously, you need the device in your hands first before you can run into any problems, but I digress. Right now there are only three problems, and their solutions, listed. Hopefully, Blackberry will expand this information over time to include more useful guides.

Race on the Mazda Raceway and knock your rivals off their feet. This is one of the biggest racing games on the Blackberry Playbook.

4. Reckless Racing: Here’s a racing game that’s both familiar and slicker than many other games. In Reckless Racing, a classic racing plan is renovated and offered in a stylish package. Gripping visuals and interesting graphics make this race enjoyable for die-had racing game fans and new players equally. The tracks are so designed that racers can slide, slip and skid through them without leaving a tire mark. This is one of the most enjoyable racing games on a handheld mobile device.

5. Retro Run: Car racing goes to the next level with Retro Run. You play Max, a hotly pursued criminal and ride a stolen car. Hot on your heels are law enforcers. The launch preparations for the Q10 device, set to be released to stores at the end of this month, are in full swing. But marketing the Q10 device is not all that BlackBerry is interested in right now.

Recent rumors seem to suggest that BlackBerry may be working on a hybrid 5-inch phone/tablet, otherwise known as a Phablet.

Analysts and internet bloggers report that BlackBerry is preparing the launch of three new smart phone’s this year. Purportedly, this will include a QWERTY mid-range smart phone; touch smart phone for mid-range and Phablet with a 5-inch screen. The Phablet may look very much like BlackBerry’s flagship device, the Z10.

Rumors regarding a possible 5-inch tablet from BlackBerry that could replace the PlayBook have been around for a while. This is possibly the first solid step in this direction.

Samsung attribute the Phablet concept to Samsung. The Galaxy note was the first step in making a tablet/phone hybrid popular. The wide recognition gained by this concept has some manufacturers like Canadian BlackBerry, thinking. The 5-inch hybrid Phablet is a relatively unexplored market. Just a few weeks down the road, BlackBerry may come out with a new device which is rumored to appear similar in looks to the flagship product Z10.

Executives of BlackBerry seem confident of releasing as many as four devices this year, one of them might even be the new flagship device of BlackBerry. Reports suggest the Phablet has been codenamed the U10 and is slated for a Q4 release.

Further, BlackBerry is carrying out work on its new keyboard device for mid-range consumers. This could well be the R10 device that has been discussed previously. The R10 device is expected to the next generation of Curve phones from BlackBerry based on BB10.

1.    Contact Feed

If you have a BlackBerry, bets are you are a business user. With a great business network comes the unavoidable pain of managing contacts. Your scores of contacts getting out of hand?? Set frequently dialed friends as favorite for simpler access. Call or text them with ease.

3.    Own number and answering
There are a fair few users out there who switch around their SIM cards quite often. Recalling your number then becomes a pain. At the top of your contacts screen users will find displayed, their own number for easier reference. BB users always love toting their BlackBerry in a trendy hip-holster. You can now automatically answer calls by simply drawing the device out of its holster.

4.    IMEI number
The IMEI number is your device’s unique identity. In case of loss or hardware maintenance issue you will need to know this number. Not need to look worried, you can find the number displayed in the About section of the device for easier reference.

5.    Notification count
The new ‘peek’ motto of BlackBerry has all information available to the user with simple gestures. Keep track of your notifications of various incoming communications. All notifications will be found arranged in a neat little sidebar.

6.    Sections
BlackBerry 10 features several sections within menus. Users need to manage these sections to prevent unwanted cluttering. Proper management of the hub interface will ensure a smooth flow of important communication.

7.    BlackBerry Hub

Thanks to a delightful and totally free app from Blackberry World, now I can find all my ports even when it’s pitch black in my room. The app is called Night Ports, and it’s incredibly simple yet extremely useful. In fact, I’m amazed at just how useful something like this can be. All it chiefly does is show icons on your screen in the dark to show you where the necessary ports are located. Simple, but brilliant!

As you can see from the images, the indicators point directly to various ports and buttons on the device to help you find their location in the dark. There are indicators for the volume rockers, power and standby button, 3.5mm headphone jack, charging port and of course the mini HDMI port. Of course, the app also includes the current date and time, as well as a battery life indicator. These additional indicators are pretty much surplus, and you don’t genuinely need them, but they are convenient nonetheless.

It’s totally free and there are no advertisements to worry about- which is certainly a good thing. Most free applications get bogged down by pop-up advertisements or in app purchases. Night Ports is a relatively simple and efficient application to beef up functionality of your Blackberry 10 device.

The mélange of device connectivity, productivity and portability offered by tablets and other hybrid devices is something that surely cannot be ignored for too long. This format can be instrumental in ushering the era of mobile devices which can support true Virtualization. The security concerns arising over using these devices is however, a minor glitch.

The three big names in tablet computing have all sought to address these issues with their own strategy. Recent audits on these audits reveal that Samsung falls short when it comes to providing enterprise level security. The BlackBerry PlayBook fared much better in comparison to Samsungs Galaxy Tab and Apple iPad. But there was however, an obvious chink in their armor. The desktop softwares were found lacking when it comes to encrypting files backups, at least not by default.

The PlayBook was able to trump the other two tablet devices providing for an active workspace-personal space separation. This becomes extremely important when we factors in the constantly escalating BYOD trend. Each of these three devices is capable of supporting Exchange Activesync, which enables configuration and management of the device via a remote central exchange server.

The data protection capabilities of Apple iPad are robust, limiting the general damages. However, there is the possibility of security breaches due to regular jailbreak attacks, pointless disk encryption unless you employ a strong passcode.

The iPad’s disk encryption scheme is fairly robust; however, iTunes backups store simple clear text files by default. This cannot be acceptable by any enterprise standard. The BlackBerry’s approach is essentially similar. The BlackBerry PlayBook’s encryption however, can claim a much higher level of security.

The Samsung device does not come with any locked bootloaders, however, the built-in disk encryption is resulting in a highly fragile support rendering the device rather tough to use every day. Even with different encryption, Samsung’s fatal flaw is that it allows storage of data on any ordinary SD card ported with the device.

Nonexistent management tools do not allow the device to live up to industry standards. The most disturbing thing, however, is a lack of scalability. Maneuvering devices numbering anything higher than a small number of Galaxy tablet devices within any given work environment. This is something that has even the iPad worried.

The BlackBerry PlayBook on the other hand, gives an astounding level of severance for the user data. Personal and work modes are now separated with greater ease. The all round construction of the BlackBerry PlayBook enables the implementation of focused biz data wipes, all the while, ensuring personal data security.

An increasing number of merchants are coming up with third-party tools designed to reduce security glitches arising in these devices for a secure corporate work environment. BYOD management’s relevance and effective security mechanism were previously far from the jurisdiction of the device context. The rising trend of BYOD however, has turned to focus on the issue of context and its many security repercussions.
