Shops – Weltenbuerger Gives New Shape to Los Feliz

I’ve been meaning to get to new-ish boutique Weltenbueger at 4634 Hollywood Boulevard (the former Apartment 3 space) in Los Feliz ever since owner Bryan Sanderson sent me a really charming note about the opening. Sanderson is German, and very informed by Berlin fashion, which has fueled his interest in plays on proportion and shape. The shop—currently filled with intriguing vintage finds for men and women—is reflective of this with oversized tees, tops, sweaters, dresses, blazers and more, many of which have been altered, giving pieces a new, fashion-forward life… (The merch and more about the shop after the jump.)

I’ve walked by this duplex at 325 South La Jolla Avenue at Blackburn many, many times, thinking how wonderful it would be to make the upgrade from apartment to duplex. It’s one of those stand-out buildings in a sea of so-so, well-groomed on the outside with a bit of character. The building has two three-bedrooms two-bathers, and one two-bedroom one-bath. Shops – Cherry Pick Vintage Salvages the Past

Last weekend was the first time I’d made it to Cherry Pick Vintage at 4710 Franklin Avenue just west of Vermont in Los Feliz. Owners Nina Kazè and Christian Ducale stock the shop with ample dresses, heels/boots, lingerie, denim and accessories for women, and tees, blazers, leather jackets, hats, ties, and shoes/boots for men. They specialize in salvaging pieces, making seemingly rags into riches for your closet. It’s a charming chandelier-ed space, filled with merch starting around $24 and going up to $125 on the highest end. I will return… (The boutique and more pieces after the jump.)

I met Brenna Egan (shown top left) at LA Fashion Week sometime ago, always dressed, if you know what I mean, a total standout from the crowd in a high/low-vintage/new mix of clothing and accessories that just made sense. A former Vogue fashion assistant, she was then the West Coast fashion editor at OK! , and I would see her from time to time at events and tried to snap a photo when I got the chance. So, it was with much excitement that I received news that she has just launched a vintage online boutique Chic & You Shall Find, which is so much more than just ecommerce…. Arts – Gorgeous Clutches to Political Statements, Native Beadworker Teri Greeves Inspires

I took my own advice and headed to the opening reception for Kiowa beader Teri Greeves last Saturday at the Craft in American Study Center at 8415 West 3rd Street. I’ve seen photos of Greeves’s amazing creations—which collide traditional beadwork through contemporary mediums—but it was something else to see her work up close (and not covered in Plexi glass) in an intimate space. Through April 3, you’ll find works such as the high-top sneaker-heels shown above (“Fancy Dancing B’Ballers, $10,500), bracelets, necklaces and ridiculously chic clutches, and pieces that delve deep into the cultural and political… (Images and information on specific pieces after the jump.)
