UNIT is the collective and collaborative work of UK designers Si Billam and James Sanderson. We work globally across music, fashion, lifestyle and youth culture. Together we craft, construct, experiment and play with ideas.

UNIT (We are, This is) work on various fields of graphic design. They have created quite huge amount of music CD covers. Their typography skills are the thing that caught my attention.

Si and James have worked for clients including: EA Games, MTV, Coca Cola, Human Studio, Universal Everything, Pollinate Records, Carbon Logic Publishing, Computer Arts, Urban Splash.

Deltainc.nl- streetart from Netherlands

Deltainc.nl is a portfolio of streetart artist (streetartist?) from Netherlands. In fact it's hard to categorize Deltainc and define that "what he is doing is streetart". His roots are connected to graffiti scene but now many of his works are presented as exhibitions in the professional art galleries- painting, sculpture and relief are another form of expression. He seems to be very fruitful (I assumed it after looking through his portfolio). His style is quite unique and you can feel that his concepts are repeating through his works. Personally I really like the geometrical forms and the "battles" of those squares and lines.

"Faith is spiritualized imagination" - portfolio of Paul Sych is a trip around various typographic forms and creations. I have looked through all of his works presented on his website: some of them are brilliant; the others may be just good. Nevertheless, you can clearly see that this man has got talent in expressing emotions and information in typographical, simplistic forms.

For over 2 decades, Paul Sych has been exploring and practicing many of the parallels between art and music. After completing his studies from both York University’s prestigious Jazz Program and from the Ontario College Of Art & Design, Paul founded his multi-disciplinary design studio Faith, in 1989. Paul has consistently offered new methods of expression by using custom typography as a catalyst within his work and has challenged both clients and peers alike to enter his world of unique and flamboyant use of type and imagery. In addition to being commissioned by legendary designers, art directors, educators and forums on typography internationally, his work has been widely exhibited and published globally. Paul continues to explore visual and typographic works in print, branding, public art, motion graphics and broadcast design. Recently, Paul has focused his interests in teaching, lecturing, conducting workshops and personal critiques to both students and colleagues alike in a effort to begin a new dialogue on typography and design methods.

BooneOakley would probably be another advertising agency that nobody would care about so much. But they had a brilliant idea of creating their portfolio entirely on youtube.com. How does it work? When you visit their portfolio you will be redirected to the "front page" movie on youtube. The movie has got all the web interaction embedded - clicking on buttons will redirect you to another youtube movie. This is quite original idea and I am sure BooneOakley will get thousands of visists- by this post I am also adding some traffic to their portfolio. Enjoy!

Oh, by the way- the works presented in the "youtube" portfolio are also quite good. But who really cares? ;-)

Would you like to see some fresh-looking graphics and retro at the same time? Here you go- Fajne Chlopaki is a design collective from my home city Lodz in Poland. They have amused me with graphic design of two websites: lodz2016.com and fabrykasztuki.org. That is how I got to know them- the name "Fajne Chlopaki" meaning something like "Cool Boys" is a catchy and easy-to-remember name for the design studio.

Complexification - programming and arts combined

Programmers are often associated with boring, fat (or in contrary extremely thin) nerds wearing huge glasses and having no social life. Quite often you can meet individuals that perfectly fit this description. However, there are some programmers having artistic souls- they use their programming skills to create something unusual. One of these guys is Jared Tarbell, highly skilled and talented man from New Mexico.

Complexication is a portfolio of his experiments with mathematical equations and coding (Flash and Java)- he is providing source code for each of his works as well as applets presenting how the actual code works and how the final result is being created. In this way the experience of the viewer is much higher- people who are really interested in this kind of projects can actually reuse the code and create their own versions of the work themselves. Justin M. Maller is the real master, who has got excellent talents and skills combined with amazing imagination. Very detailed and mastered compositions create illusion of real-life, 3D objects and it is really interesting to see the scenes which are created with such precision and taste.

Justin is an Australian-based designer working both as Creative Director at depthcore and as a freelancer. He has worked for many recognizable international clients including Samsung, Asus, Fiat, Eidos Interactive, Quiksilver, DC Shoe and many more.

Marek Mielnicki - tasty web design

I have met Marek once in Bieszczady's mountains (btw it's a very beautiful place to go for summer holidays). I was a young (younger than now) kid those days. He gave me his business card with web address mielnickidesign.com. After a few years by chance I have stumbled upon his website again and got excited about the amount of interesting projects Marek was involved with since our meeting. I am sure that Marek does not remember me and I also don't remember him much. It's the coincidence I've found his website after those few years and that's why I've decided to promote his works on my blog. Obviously, those are the works that are really worth checking out.

Marek is in both illustration and web/Flash design. He was involved in some projects like shirtee.com or tiszert.com both as a web designer and designer of t-shirts. I think that he is the founder of shirtee but I might be wrong about it. It's sad but it looks like both of those T-shirt projects either have died out or are put on hold.

What I definitely like most about works of Marek are the Flash websites. It's about the combination of minimalism and care for details. I know that such a sentence sounds strange (minimalism and details- o rly?) but that's how it is and how I can describe it. My English is not perfect and sometimes I am getting to the point where it's really hard for me to say the thing precisely and exactly- I am sorry about that. Designgive.com - T-shirts for good cause

The idea of designgive.com is simple. Designers donate a T-shirt design and in this way promote themselves. People who buy the T-shirts select charity organization that they would like to support. Money goes for the good cause and everybody is happy.

And moreover, some of the T-shirts that you can (or could if they were in stock) buy are just awesome. And the names of some of the designers are really big: Si Scott, Brooke Nunez, Paul Macgregor.

I need to put some limits on number of pictures uploaded to my server (the daily traffic on Blastyle blog is really impressive nowadays). So that's why I selected only 5 T-shirts to be presented; take a look:

Born in Russia, Yulia Brodskaya started her career in Moscow, "producing contemporary office decoration artwork" for the companies there. Meantime she was studying Graphic Design. After she made M.A. in Graphic Communication in London she works now both as an illustrator and freelance graphic designer.

Her clients include RedBull, Orange, BBH, How2 T-shirts. She won some design prizes- 1st prize in Russian Conceptual Packaging Design Competition, she was also a Member of the International Society of Typographic Designers in 2006.

She makes original works which she calls "papergraphic". Take a look at them below:

Recently I have noticed one of works by Karol Lasia from Netherlands. He is 23 years old (the same age as me) and he has incredible talents for graphic design and illustration. He uses his skills to produce the flyers, posters and music album covers. I have selected the works below from surprisingly vast (taking into account his age) portfolio. Most of the works are related to music which is my style: electronic (Ninja Tune, drum and bass etc.) which is another plus for Karol Lasia from me.

It's going to be the longest post in the history of Blastyle blog with the biggest number of works. If you read it through you will see works of not one, not two, not three but FOUR graphic designers!

Their works are completely different and it was a hard decision for me to put them all together into one post. Anyway, I decided so here it is.

I have stumbled upon the website of Unseen Agency and got fascinated by some of the works I have seen there. I've selected 4 artists out of 10 associated in the Unseen Agency, then selected 2-3 works which best illustrate their talents and skills and now I'm presenting them for you. Here they are:

This needs to be a very short post. I liked a few of the pictures made by Juliana Pedemonte and decided to show them to you. Her illustrations usually depict some funny robots, machines or other electronic devices with funny pleasant face expressions. Most of them are smiling actually.

United States of Design - Frank Muller from Berlin

Frank Muller is a German designer who probably works within various design areas. However, it's the typography which struck me as really innovative and original and this is what I want to talk about. Frank is presenting his works in his personal portfolio, United States of Design as well as on White Label which is a showcase of Frank and some other designer, Markus (I didn't make effort to look for his surname; I didn't find it on White Label site).

I present a few of Frank Muller's works below- those which in my opinion are the most fresh and cool. You will find more of his typography works in his portfolio.
