Why risk internet backlash by dropping your kid to catch a foul ball (like we’ve seen so many dads do) when you can make it a team effort?

When Joey Votto of the Cincinnati Reds hit a foul ball into the stands the other night, this dad kept a cool head, lifted his son (who was wearing a mitt) high above his head, and let HIM make the grab.

This one is making highlight reels around the country.

Grayson James Walker was born on February 15, 2012. He was born with Anencephaly, a rare birth defect whereby a baby is born without parts of the brain and skull.  The baby lived for just eight hours.

Heather Walker posted pictures to Facebook of Grayson without his hat on.

“Not long after, Facebook deleted them because of the content” she said. “They allow people to post almost nude pictures of themselves, profanity, and so many other things but I’m not allowed to share a picture of God’s beautiful creation.”

Walker and her Facebook friends decided to re-upload Grayon’s pictures as a form of protest, and she’s on a 24-hour ban.

Facebook does have rules about photos and content people may find offensive, including bullying, hate speech, graphic violence, nudity, etc.

Walker maintains that her photos of her newborn son don’t fall into any of those categories.

“I see all kinds of stuff, women’s body parts, almost nudity, which is one of their standards, people cursing each other out, just profanity,” said Walker.

Amazed at the amount of support she’s received from all over the country, Walker says the photo is raising awareness.

“Just in two days, all these people have messaged me telling me how much God has used Grayson’s life to touch them and to work in their hearts and to make them appreciate the children they have, that they have healthy children,” she explained.

Not all the feedback has been positive, though, and Walker says those people can friend her on Facebook at their own discretion.

“If you’re my friend and you want to see the picture then look at it, but if you don’t, just like any TV show or anything else you watch, if you don’t want to see it you don’t have to,” said Walker. “But I want to share this with people just like any other person wants to share their baby or their child.”

Hatchett has 30 different children with 11 different mothers. That’s a Knox County record.

Desmond explained how his progeny got so out of control.

“I had four kids in the same year. Twice.”

The kids range in age from toddlers to 14 years old.

He made his last court back in 2009, at which time he had 21 children, which means he’s had another 9 children in the past 3 years.

Hatchett’s job pays minimum wage job, meaning that some of the moms gets as little as $1.49 per month.

He was 62 years old.

His spokesperson released a prepared statement that reads:

“The family of Robin Gibb, of the Bee Gees, announce with great sadness that Robin passed away today following his long battle with cancer and intestinal surgery. The family have asked that their privacy is respected at this very difficult time.”

Two years ago, Gibb was diagnosed with colon and liver cancer. He had been hospitalized several times over the course of the last few years and, most recently, was hospitalized with pneumonia last month.

He went into a coma, only to miraculously emerge several days later.

Gibb was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1994 and the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997.

The level of intensity of the protesters and police at the NATO Summit currently taking place in Chicago seems to be rising.

In the first clip below, Tracey Pollock, a credentialed photographer for The UpTake, is attacked by police during yesterday’s protests.  Before the attack, police were using their bicycles as weapons to force back the crowd (which was admittedly staging a march without a permit).

Police had formed a barricade, and there was some sort of incident.

Pollock tried to get closer to see what was happening when a police officer reached up, grabbed her lens, and tried to rip her camera away. The officer then pushed her over some bicycles.

Protesters behind the bicycles pulled her to safety.

Pollock was bruised in the incident but not seriously injured. She says she never crossed the police barricade.

In the second video, Luke Rudkowksi, Tim Pool, Jeoff Shively, Dustin & Jess from We Are Change were driving home after covering the NATO protests, only to have their car raided by police.

You won’t see any of this footage on the local news, of course.

The “Terminator 3″ star checked into rehab last night, said Rose Stahl.

“I’m elated,” Rose, 30, said via email, according to People.

The actor had evidently reached out to close friends via email and informed them that he was going to be checking in to a treatment program.

Rose Stahl said that her husband sent an email on Friday night saying that he was OK, and that he was entering a 30-day rehab program that night.

Rose reported her husband missing to police in Los Angeles on Monday, May 14, saying she’d last seen Nick on May 9.

Let’s hope he finally gets the help he needs!

The magnitude-6.0 quake struck in the middle of the night, approximately 22 miles north of the city of Bologna.

The temblor caused “significant damage to the cultural heritage” of Emilia Romagna region, according to the local government.

This afternoon, a major 5.1-magnitude aftershock hit the region, leading to more building collapses.

The aftershock destroyed a clock tower and caused a firefighter to fall from a wall in the town of Finale Emilia.

The Sunday quake was the worst to hit Italy since the L’Aquila tremor killed almost 300 people in 2009.

The earthquake struck at about 04:00 local time (02:00 GMT) and was felt across a large portion of northern Italy, including the cities of Bologna, Ferrara, Verona, and Mantua and even as far away as Milan and Venice.

The tremor forced many terrified residents into the streets.

The 2012 annular eclipse, which puts the moon directly in between Earth and the sun on Sunday, is the first of its kind since 1994.

It won’t be a total eclipse, though, because the moon is closer to Earth than usual.  Instead, you’ll see a “ring of fire” around the moon. This phenomenon occurs twice per year, but is usually only visible by a small fraction of the Earth’s surface.

An annular eclipse occurs when the moon, slightly more distant from Earth than usual, moves directly between Earth and the sun, thus appearing slightly smaller to observers’ eyes. The effect creates a bright ring, or annulus of sunlight also called a “ring of fire,” around the perimeter of the moon.

This 2012 solar eclipse will be visible in China and Japan on May 21 and, for the first time in 18 years, by continental western states, California, Nevada, and Arizona.  The East Coast will miss out on the party, as the sun will have already set there.

For those of us here in the east, we’ll have to wait for the total eclipse in 2017.

If you’re hoping to catch a glimpse of history, be sure to heed mom’s advice.  If you don’t have a solar filter, a pinhole projector, or some special solar-safe viewing glasses, you should refrain from staring or you might risk damaging your vision.

The dad found out that the washing machines automatically lock and begin their cycle once the door is shut.

The little boy became trapped inside, tumbling over and over as his panicked parents desperately tried to get help.

After a few moments of sheer terror, someone finally pulls out the wall next to the machine and cuts the power.

Fortunately, the boy escaped with only minor injuries.

Not a good idea, dad.

Zuckerberg and the 27-year-old Chan wed at a small ceremony at his Palo Alto, California, home this afternoon, just days after the long-awaited Facebook IPO.

Zuckerberg took the world’s largest social network public in one of the most anticipated moves in Wall Street history yesterday.

Chan graduated from medical school at the University of California, San Francisco, on Monday, the same day Zuckerberg turned 28 years old.

The couple met at Harvard University and have been together for over nine years.

Zuckerberg designed the ring featuring “a very simple ruby,” according to sources.

The ceremony took place in Zuckerberg’s own backyard in front of about 100 guests, who all thought they had all gathered there to celebrate Chan’s graduation.

Chen Guangcheng had been whisked from a hospital hours earlier and placed aboard a flight for the U.S. after Chinese authorities suddenly told him to pack and prepare to leave. He arrived on Saturday evening at Newark Liberty International Airport, just outside New York City.

After seven years of prison and house arrest, Chen, his wife, and two children made a daring escape from his rural village last month and was given sanctuary inside the U.S. Embassy, leading to a tense diplomatic standoff over his fate.

With Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton in Beijing, officials agreed to a deal that let Chen walk free, only to see him have second thoughts.

That forced new negotiations that led to a deal to send him to the U.S. to study law, a goal of his, at New York University.

“Thousands of thoughts are surging to my mind,” Chen said before he left China. His concerns, he said, included whether authorities would retaliate for his negotiated departure by punishing his relatives left behind. It also was unclear whether the government will allow him to return.

I’ll Have Another entered the race with 3-1 odds, behind favorite Bodemeister with 2-1 odds.

Bodemeister took an early lead and stayed ahead for most of the 2012 Preakness, but on the home stretch, I’ll Have Another broke free, charging up the side and past Bodemeister to score a dramatic win.  It almost looked as if the other horses were moving in slow motion!

Bodemeister came in second and Creative Cause took third.

“I have to say there was a point where I didn’t think we were going to get there,” said I’ll Have Another owner J. Paul Reddam.

“Bodemeister was running his guts out. It was a fantastic race. I didn’t feel confident we were going to get there until about 10 yards from the wire.”

The 3-year-old colt stunned the racing world at the Kentucky Derby by dashing past favorite Bodemeister to win.

Like today, Bodemeister led for most of that race as well before being overtaken late by I’ll Have Another.

“I’m just numb; it’s incredible,” said I’ll Have Another trainer Doug O’Neill. “We’re thinking Triple Crown, baby!”

Yesterday, Arizona’s secretary of state said he had asked officials in Hawaii to verify that Barack Obama was born in their state in order for the president’s name to appear on the state’s ballot this November.

Ken Bennett, who is Mitt Romney‘s campaign co-chairman in Arizona, said he issued the request on behalf of a constituent.

Earlier this year, Arizona sheriff Joe Arpaio announced that his own investigation had found that Obama’s birth certificate was a fraud.

Within recent days, more evidence has begun to mount, starting with a blockbuster revelation from news site Breitbart.com, which found a 1991 promotional brochure for Obama stating that he was Kenyan born.

A 2004 article from the Associated Press also stated that Barack Obama was “Kenyan-born.”

Bennett says he’s just trying to confirm that Obama’s name can appear on Arizona’s presidential ballot.

Still, Bennett says he doesn’t necessarily buy the “birther” movement’s beliefs.

“First, I have been on the record since 2009 that I believe the president was born in Hawaii. I am not a ‘birther,’” he said in a prepared statement.

“At the request of a constituent, I asked the state of Hawaii for a for a verification in lieu of certified copy. We’re merely asking them to officially confirm they have the president’s birth certificate in their possession and are awaiting their response,” he said.

The White House has denied repeated claims that Barack Obama was not born in the United States.

At this hour, several groups of protesters have marched to and gathered outside of Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s house.

Another group of protesters, meanwhile, is marching to protest the arrest of thee demonstrators who were arrested last week and who have now been charged with plotting a terrorist attack.

Protests have been ongoing throughout the weekend, and last week police arrested three protesters and charged them with formulating a terrorism plot.

The three had allegedly planned to attack President Barack Obama’s campaign headquarters, Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s home, and other targets, according to the mainstream media’s company line.

The three were taken into custody on Wednesday in a nighttime raid in the Bridgeport neighborhood on the South Side. They’re accused of attempting to create Molotov cocktails ahead of the 2-day NATO summit that starts tomorrow (Sunday).

Defense attorneys, however, told the judge presiding over the case today that the undercover police are the ones who brought the Molotov cocktails, and that their clients were entrapped and framed.

Bond of $1.5 million has been set for each defendant.

They have been charged with providing material support for terrorism, conspiracy to commit terrorism, and possession of explosives.

It will be very interesting to see how this plays out.
