Bangladeshi in Voter List for Rs. 50

Bangladeshi people gets their name listed on the voter list of India, for just Rs. 50. This is not the words of Assamese people, but a Bangladeshi itself! Read on..

Majibur Ali (40) came to Jorhat and started working in the field of a Congress worker. Later he got his name listed on the voter list by paying a bribe of Rs. 50, during the 1995 survey. He also helped many Bangladeshi people to settle down in Kolbari of Jorhat. He is not alone to have name on the voter list. Bosiron Ali (67), Usub Ali (60), Rabia Ali (55), Idris Ali (32), Saina Begum (24) etc. from Dergaon, are some of those thousands of Bangladeshi that lives in Assam and has their name on the voter list.

Whose fault is this? Assamese people are also responsible for this influx of Bangladeshi. Why they uses Bangladeshi people for work? Why they gives shelter to Bangladeshi Miya? Why they sells their motherland for Rs. 50? We think that, these bribe takers must be hanged! Then only some people will improve.

Bangladeshi is Indian?

The Governments of Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland has expelled over 3,300 people from their state. The reason? They are citizens of Bangladesh and living illegally in India. We must thank these Governments for their good action. But, wait! See, what our Assam Government is telling!

Last week Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi told at a press conference that all these people are Indian. We wonder how they verified the nationality of these people within such a short period of time. Everyone in North East India, knows that these are Bangladeshi people. Only Assam Government guards them as Indian. The motive behind this is politics. Already, Assamese News Media is showing proofs about the nationality of these people. They are nothing but Bangladeshi, shameless Bangladeshi.

Why? Why Assamese people don't understand the problem that is growing day by day? If this continues, soon this beautiful land will turn into a land of 'Miya'. Wake up Assam?

Update: Today, the Governments of Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland challenged Assam Government to prove these Bangladeshi as Indian. Well done Arunachal and Nagaland. When Assam will wake up?

Wake up Assamese People!

AAMSU has threatened that they will throw away Assamese people from the Borpeta, Dhubir and Goalpara districts of Assam. Mind it, AASU is an organization of religious minority in Assam. How they dared to say like that to Assamese people, the local people of Assam? Everyone knows that Assam is a favourite place for the Bangladeshis (people from bangladesh). They are in such a large number that, in near future they will cover the whole Assam. This threat by AAMSU is just a sign of that!

Wake up Assamese people? Wake up all local communities and tribes of Assam (Ahom, Mishing, Rabha, Bodo, Karbi, Chutia, etc.. all local communities). This is your land, that your anchestors left. Now, keep it in your hand. Otherwise in near future, Bangladeshis will run your state and you people will be their servants.

Government is not going to take any action. Other organizations will just shout. They real action must be taken by people - Assamese Poeple ( all local people are Assamese).

How can you do it?

Don't allow Bangladeshi people to work in your house/office/field.
Don't allow Bangladeshi people to stay in your villages/town.
Don't encourage Bangladeshi baggers.
Don't sell or offer food items to Bangladeshi.

Without food, shelter and money; how long Bangladeshi will stay in Assam?
Act Now, before it's too late!

Flood Situation in Assam and Government

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi reviewed the stock position of the essential commodities in all the affected districts.
Gogoi directed all the Deputy Commissioners to collect rice from the stores of the FCI to provide relief to the affected people.
Shortage of Kerosene is turning out to be a major problem in flood affected areas of Assam.
The Union Petroleum Minister has assured that he would take immediate steps to provide adequate kerosene to the State to be distributed among the affected people.
As many as 47 breaches in the embankments took place due to present flood in Assam.
Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has directed the officials of the Water Resources department to submit a detailed report on the cause of the breaches.
Tarun Gogoi directed all the Deputy Commissioners and other officials to closely monitor the situation and to ensure proper flood relief to the affected people of Assam.

AASU on Faulty Medical Entrance Rules

The All Assam Students Union (AASU) said that the new rules in connection to medical entrance made effective from this year has deprived the rural students from joining the medical line.

In a release to the press, the AASU said that the Health Minister’s claim that the raising of the cut-off marks for the medical entrance had established the dominance of students from villages was simply ridiculous.

“The AASU was against raising of the cut-off mark and we were of the opinion that the step would prove detrimental to the students from the rural areas. The results of the medical entrance has proved our fears right,” said the functionaries.

Flood Situation in Assam

Due to continuous rainfall, the present flood situation in Assam is becoming worser. The badly affected districts are Dhemaji, North Lakhimpur, Sonitpur and Nalbari districts.

The river Brahmaputra is flowing above the danger level at Dibrugarh, Jorhat, in Sonitpur district, Golapara and Dhubri while its tributaries Burhidihing is flowing above the danger level at Dibrugarh. Similarly, Subansiri is flowing above the danger level at Lakhimpur with Dikhow and Desang at Sivasagar, Dhansiri at Golaghat, Jiabharali in Sonitpur district, Puthimari in Kamrup district, Pagladiya in Nalbari district, Beki in Barpeta district and Sonkosh in Dhubri district flowing in the same manner, said the official flood bulletin from Guwahati.

The flood situation in Dhemaji district has further deteriorated with more than 1,35,000 people affected in various parts of the district. Road communication has been affected leading to difficulties in carrying our relief and rescue operations.

At present, apart from the damage caused to settlements, a vast stretch of cultivable land has been inundated by floodwater, sources in the Agriculture Department revealed. Around 4,435 ha of land has been inundated and more than 8,480 farm families have been affected in the second wave of flood in Dhemaji district.

Bao and Ahu crops, seedlings along with transplanted Sali and some Kharif vegetables have been affected. The agriculture department has prepared a contingency plan worth Rs 90 lakh that would ensure the distribution of free seedlings among the district’s farmers.

Heavy Rain and Life in Guwahati

As monsoon season arrives, rain creates lots of problem in Assam. In many places flood situation is very severe. Thanks to the weather God! This time Assam will get lots of water as usual. But the condition was not usual last year, when very little rain created lots of problem. So, what people will do? To love rain or not to love?

In Guwahati city, the municipality wakes up when the monsoon rain arrives! They starts to work on the drains and roads. Is it really appreciable? Today a heavy downpour for about 3 hours stopped the life of city. Water came down from the hills and flooded the city roads. The situation became worse in places where the works on drain construction was going on. (thanks to the intelligent decision of the municipality and GMDA!) Traffic stopped in many places and people started walking towards their home, in rain and flood water. Because they must reach their home after a long day work.

This observation is published here just to ask one question to the Government! Why they don't work on time to prevent such situations? Money is not a problem, we think. Because one can see how much money is being spent to build drains in these 2 weeks! No doubt! Guwahati is developing. Assam also. But is it a properly planned development process?

Five-star hotel in Assam

Assam is all set to get the first five-star hotel, which will hopefully help the region clinch some meaty business deals. A joint venture agreement was signed today between the Dharampal Styapal (DS) Group and the Guwahati Municipal Development Authority (GMDA) at the residence of Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi.

The agreement was signed by the director of DS group, P.K. Gupta and A.K. Bhutani, secretary of GDD. According to the memorandum of agreement, the DS group will invest Rs. 100 crore and develop the hotel on a 27 bigha plot at Gotanagar along the national Highway 37. The construction will begin within a month and is expected to be completed within 24 months.

We hope that, this step will lead to prosperity of Assam by attracting investors. In this occaision we should recall what Infosys co-founder N.R. Narayana Murthy said last year-"A city is fit for big business if it has a good five star hotel"

AASU Hunger Strike!

All Assam Student Union (AASU) is going to stage a 30 hour hunger strike from may 17 in protest against the failure of the Government of Assam, in improving the education system. According to AASU, Government of Assam is not keeping their promises to improve the pathetic scenario of education in Assam. AASU has demanded:

Implementation of the academic calenlar in true spirit.
Aid of Rs. 100 crore for three Universities of Assam.
Not ot involve Teachers in preparation of the midday meal.
New and relevant courses in the Colleges and Universities to compete with the World.
Facilities for the Diphu and haflong College in line with the Cotton College.

All the locat units of AASU are going to take part in this democratic protest. We hope that the Govt. of Assam will givea better eye on these issues. Afterall students are students. Govt. must let them to concentrate on study, by providing better facilities.

Assam to Produce Electricity from Husk!

Bamboo dust, rice husk and the sun will soon make the bulb glow in Puthimari gaon Panchayat in Assam's Darrang district. The country's first rural electrification programme using solar energy was launched in Puthimari Gaon panchayat recently. The programme is being implemented as part of the Centre's resolve to ensure electrification in all remote villages by 2009.

Assam Government has identified 2,139 villages, which are not accessible from the existing contentional power grid. Of them, 1,084 are located in Karbi Anglong and North Cachar Hills. The project will use bamboo dust and rice husk as the raw material to generate power. The Nagaon Paper Mill of Hindustan paper Corporation at Jagiroad has been asked to provide bamboo dust, while rice husk is available in abundance in and around the project sites.
