WordPress 2.7 Themes

With the arrival of WordPress 2.7, I hope to work through all the present themes over the holidays and bring them up to date - they’re all compatible with WordPress 2.7, but don’t display all the features, ie. mainly threaded comments.

So, with this news, we’re going to get those arch little thumbsup/down on the default WordPress?

I’d imagine it would be up to the theme designer as to whether the functions go in or not - then again, like gravatars, it will presumably be a stipulation of inclusion on WP Themes.

Dr Mike, he not pleased, and will presumably be having all his comments corporately deleted, again - no irony visible there then…

Free WordPress Theme: MagicBlue

MagicBlue - a fixed-width 2-column, free WordPress theme, with a right hand-sidebar, enabled for widgets. It’s also got gravatars, as WordPress Themes now insist on and post comments were separated from pingback/trackbacks, until WP 2.7 version.

The theme has been tested on Firefox 2, Internet Explorer 6 and 7, and Opera 9.

Update 2009-Jan-01: MagicBlue version 1.4 compatible with WP 2.7 threaded comments and image alignment & captioning… (more…)

Free WordPress Theme: Alibi3col

Alibi3col is a 3 column (yes…) fixed-width, free WordPress theme, with left and righthand sidebars, enabled for widgets.

There’s only one option in the admin panel - choose any color for the links/headings (the demo shows a dark blue version). The horizontal menu is for top-level pages, sorted in wordpress menu order.

There’s also a 2-column version, with righthand sidebar

The theme is compatible with WordPress v2.3 upwards and has been tested on Firefox 2, Internet Explorer 6 and 7, and Opera 9.

User comments are separated from pingbacks/trackbacks, enabled for gravatars - and will work whether you’re using WP2.6, 2.5 or lower - you won’t need the WordPress gravatar plugin.

Portofino is a postcard from the Italian Riviera - once fishing village, now resort of the rich and powerful who wouldn’t be seen dead in Monte Carlo next door….

Portofino is also a 2 column fixed-width WordPress theme, with righthand sidebar, enabled for widgets.

Comments are gravatar-enabled and will work whether you’re using WP2.5 or lower - the WP gravatar plugin is not required. There’s also a separation of user comments from pingbacks/trackbacks.

Any chance of making WordPress admin work at 800 x 600 px resolution on Firefox… that would be good - might update from 2.3 in that case…

It’s cityscapes, and what used to be referred to as ‘tiger economies’…. Shanghai City is a 2/3 column fixed width theme, with a double right-hand sidebar, enabled for widgets.

WordPress Theme Brokers

So what of the relatively vast and ever-growing number of sites that republish the themes produced, usually scraping the links directly off weblogtoolscollection news. Some are just doing it for the content, others are considerably more naughty and modify the packages, adding their own links…. the wonders of Open Source…
