Horny and Bouncy Mochipet Remix Out Now!!

Time for another remix release that I am extremely excited about. This time, it is remix for one of my favorite electronic music eccentrics, Mochipet. Usually dressed as a small purple dinosaur, Mochipet makes some pretty monstrous music, with all the elements that win my favor: heavy bass, glitched out beats, and a lot of really jarring rhythms and sounds. Good shit. Even better, the remix is for my Vermin Street family back in Boston, who are some of the best people in the world of experimental electronic music today. Not just saying that. If you don't know about them, you'd better learn fast.

The most important point here though, is this amazingly bitchin' EP release, Horny and Bouncy, available now on Beatport, Addictech, all that jazz. It features 2 originals from Mochipet as well as remixes by myself, Yoseph and Dice Motion. In other words, no softies here! These tracks are all hard, wonky and left-field, it's an extremely solid release, like everything Vermin Street puts out. And as usual, some really mind bending, post-satanic, psychedelic artwork for the cover! While you are shopping check out the rest of their catalog which features Encanti, Misk, Hobotech, Dev/NULL, DLX, Nasty Nasty and LOTS more. Don't sleep on these guys, or you'll find yourself going into debt buying up the catalog in a year or two, once you finally get your head out of your ass.

Computo Remix of Bahamut Out Now!

Big release on Beatport... My remix of the Florida breaks classic, "Bump In The Night by seminal breaks group, Bahamut, has finally been released on Bass Frequency Productions! One of my favorite tracks to work on, I finished this one awhile back and it is finally seeing the light of day. All the Florida folks I've met and worked with on this (and other projects since) have all been some stand up people. Special thanks to Gato for the hookup with this gang. (Don't mind the mislabeled artist name on the Beatport page, that will be fixed soon...)

Lots of other big changes... New studio, new house, new focus. The "Computo de Computo" stage continues, with bit more Moombahton coming soon... You can find some tracks here on my Soundcloud page. But 2012 will be a year slam packed with crazy collaborations and unlikely surprises, and maybe even some serious work! Better watch out...

Yael Meyer "Fire" Remix Available Free

For the next week, my new remix of the amazing Yael Meyer's track "Fire" will be available for free download on Yael's Bandcamp website. The remix is the first Moombahton track by Computo, and will be followed by a number of other related works.

After this week is over, the entire album of remixes, featuring some really great productions from Dub Easy, Facemelter and more, will be available for sale on the same Remix page. Yael is both a wonderful singer and an extremely talented songwriter, and was kind enough to tap Computo for one of her remixes. Lots more Moombahton to come soon...

Fire Motivator Remix and more...

I almost died while finishing this track with a thick case of the flu, so please celebrate my sacrifice buy spending some hard-earned money on me. Do it now!

Also, find a full live set below! The top soundcloud player should have my 50 minute super-chopped live performance at the Treehouse Gallery in San Pedro from last month. It is comprised of all original tracks, remixes by others of my tracks or remixes of other tracks that I have done including 2 unreleased Moombahton tracks. In other words, it's all Computo (with the notable exception "Where's My Money (Mallard Edit)" which is originally a Caspa remix of TC) near the end.

There will be some big events coming up for Computo soon, some of which will be mentioned here... But watch Computo's twitter feed for more up to date information and instantaneous announcements...

July Gigs

A couple good chances to catch Computo live in the month of July...

First up, on July 15th at 8pm, Computo will be performing on the Sub.fm weekly show, Bombadub. The show is hosted by our LA local by way of Belgium, Knorsq, who never disappoints the ears, so it should be a tight evening of deep bass and some really jarring rhythms.

Second will be July 29th, in Pomona, for Sonido En Dub presents Live Evil. This gonna be a hot one... Featuring DLX's dubstep band, Very Angry Scientist, this should be a night of successive auditory sucker-punches. The evenings host, DJ Tony K is known for bringing together the craziest, most disturbing music and mirth makers, so this should be one disgustingly good night...

Avoidanoid Remix Available Now!!!

My remix of Sleet Walker's Avoidanoid is now available on Beatport and elsewhere. The release on Ill Pill Records showcases Buddy Leezle on vocals and also features a remix by Bobbytank. My remix is an ultra-dark and brooding take on a theme from the movie "Teenwolf", in the style of Witch House or Screwgaze. Check the Beatport player at the bottom of my website for links...

Also, we've got some Computo stickers for you!! These fantasticly badass stickers were custom cut by street art wizard Zoltron's Sticker Robot team, and we couldn't be happier with them! On March 8th, the long-awaited release of Computo's "Banana Tits" EP will be set upon the world! Thanks to Vermin Street and some mind-stirring remixes from my buddies Encanti and DLX, this release is gonna be a powerhouse. Mastered by Derek Allen (DJA) from Mad Decent, and artwork from Jack Kellythorn, "Banana Tits" is going to be a force to reckon with. The four tracks will be available on every major electronic music download service, including Bleep, Beatport, Addictech and more. The links will be posted here upon release.

This is the first release of 2011 for Computo, with a more to come very soon. This is going to be a very big year, so hold on tight...

Vinyl Pressing and my Return to Boston

As usual, lots of happenings since the last post... Perhaps the most notable occurrence as of late, is the mastering and pressing of my first track on vinyl! The track, a remix of Xeriscape Records' artist Daniel Zeta's piece, "Beacon", will appear alongside the original track and 2 others from Zeta on a limited 12 inch vinyl pressing of only 100 records. Witnessing this process has been a real treat, not many people get the luxury of seeing their record being pressed with their own 2 eyes. The guys at Capsule Labs have been extremely professional and accommodating. Included are only a few of the many images and videos captured during the process.

The vinyl release of Xeriscape Records Xeri004 will correspond with a digital release on Beatport on October 12th, so if you should miss out on the vinyl, you can still sample the bottled fire inside. If you would like a record or two, contact me directly on Twitter. I would also highly recommend checking out their previous 3 releases. These guys are making a special niche for themselves!

In addition to this exciting news, I will be making my first musical return to my longtime home of Boston at the end of October. I'll be playing 2 shows while there, both of which being wonderfully representative of the Boston electronic and bass music scene, Beat Research, hosted by DJ Flack and Wayne Marshall (Wayne and Wax), and Post Prosperity, hosted by Encanti and Vermin Street.

Some news and gigs...

July has been a pretty busy month, lots of tracks in production, the physical release of the latest issue of Big Up Magazine featuring an article I wrote, and we're ringing in August with a few gigs and some exciting new shizness.

The flyer above is for an event this Friday, July 23rd, in San Pedro, California. Ten Commandments of Dub is the Long Beach area's biggest dubstep event, going down monthly, and featuring some of LA's hottest producers and DJs. I've been lucky enough to get to know Selecta Ghetto and Madame X who run the event (as well as a great art gallery in San Pedro) and they have invited Computo to come play this weekend. These are two of the sweetest people I've met in LA, they are all about the music, and have a great attitude and vision. The first two artists performing at this event will be streaming live on the Bombadub radio show on Sub.fm... which leads to the next topic...

On August 6th, Computo will be performing live on Bombadub! It will be a fun time, planning some pretty special stuff for that show, and since the audience can listen in stereo, I might drop some live Digital Drugs, if you think you can handle it...

On the topic of live performances on the innernetz... Computo is working on putting together a regular live streaming show on ustream or some similar facsimile of it. This will be a completely live, anything-goes, performance based show, with occasional special guest or dead air (not). The frequency and specifics are still in development, but there should be an announcement about this by the first week of August.

Finally, here's a quick video of Computo performing at the Concrete Jungle LA Skate Shop grand opening in San Pedro. This was a super fun gig, with a lot of stoked kids and food and a giant halfpipe to keep things busy... I highly recommend checking this skate shop out, the indoor design is AMAZING, and the guys who work there are very supportive of the scene. The kids seemed to love Computo, too...

Oh yeah! Cannot believe I almost forgot this...

The incomparable Vermin Street Records has turned 1 year old!! I cannot begin to express how awesome this label and everyone involved are, nor how confident I am that this label will be a force to be reckoned with in no time. I am so so SO deeply humbled to be involved with as eclectic and unique a group of maniacs as these guys, and I am super eager to get this forthcoming "Banana Tits" EP out with them. Check out this blog post about their birthday, and the megasupermonster-mix which features an two unreleased Computo tracks (one forthcoming;)!! Who knew!

Big up your bass!!!

Starting out this big month of June, Big Up Magazine is featuring an article by Computo on how to bump your bass sounds so that they rival the pros! The article features some tips and tricks and suggests some choice plugins to take your bass to the next level. Check out the mag, it's the best in bass music, and is written and run by some awesome people. There are some tutorial and demo videos on the featured plugins coming soon, so check back!

The videos of Computo were shot on the opening night of Sonido En Dub, a new Sunday night weekly in LA hosted by DJ Tony K. Thanks to DJ Akaider and Selecta Ghetto for taking the vids! The ZEE video is from their opening slot fo Sphongle at Boston's Paradise Rock Club. Banana Tits comes in about a minute from the end of the video. Enjoy and there's a lot more coming very soon!

One of my favorite people in this world, my friend and colleague Ian Asbjornsen, has made another short film, and has featured a track of mine "Amen Etude in 6/8" from my album, SuperConductor. There is also some great sound design in there, that I think Ian did himself. It's a great piece, wild story, disturbing imagery, I really like it!

I'm so proud to point out that my Massive Wobble Tutorial has surpassed 200,000 view on Youtube! I can't tell you how happy I am that this video is so popular, I'm really humbled by all of the positive and thankful emails and comments I've gotten over the past year or so. The video has been called "great", "amazing", "infamous" and I've even been accused of contributing to the delinquency of wobblers worldwide, by some true haters of the sound (which means we are doing something right)!

More crazy shit to announce this week, hopefully, but I'm not going to get ahead of myself. One great moment at a time!

New Wobble Tutorial Update

Posted a new video today, I'm trying to get back into the swing of making tutorial videos. It's a grueling process, it takes a lot of brain power that I often prioritize to making music, not teaching it. But I wanted to make a quick addendum to my highly popular (good ego, stroke stroke) Massive Wobble Tutorial... Now with over 175,000 views! Zounds!!

I've also been doing some research into creating an Iphone app, but apparently now Apple has a $99 fee that they charge for the SDK to make apps! Thats crumby!

Got a bunch of new tracks in the mix, embracing the audacious, self-indulgent side of Electronic Music at the moment.

Been listening to a lot of Electro, more wonky electro really... A1 Bassline, Jack Beats, Fake Blood, etc... This is the type of stuff I'm listening to for inspiration. Making some really ravey stuff.

And for any naysayers, this stuff is widely applicable. I could just as easily play the stuff Im making now at a Rave, or take it into a basement IDM party, and glitch out the tracks live.
