WHAT:            Hats Off to Homebrewers & Hop Lovers

Attention homebrewers and hop lovers…come hone your craft and satisfy your appetite at an event not to be missed! Deschutes Brewery from Oregon is teaming  up with local favorites Green Flash Brewing Company, San Diego Brewing Company and Coronado Brewing Company to feed the insatiable hop hunger of San Diego.

Deschutes Brewery will offer clone recipe booklets and bags of whole flower hops for use in your next homebrew. The very last bit of the brewery’s Hop Henge Experimental IPA will be on draft – a final chance to savor the brewery’s imposing imperial IPA. Deschutes Brewery Brewmaster Cam O’Connor will be present to discuss specialty ingredients and insights about the Deschutes Brewery brewhouses.  And representatives from Green Flash, San Diego Brewing, and Coronado will be around to compare notes and IBUs. WHAT:          Celebrating Women and Craft Beer/The Love of Beer DVD Release Party

Released in select theaters and festivals last year, The Love of Beer is a documentary film that celebrates women in the craft brew industry. It’s not for feminism or equality, it’s for “The Love of Beer.” Come hobnob with film producer Alison Grayson and a few of her film stars, as well as some of the visionary women of the San Diego craft beer scene.  Sample chocolate truffles made with Deschutes Brewery beer, by Tess Brown, owner and chocolatier of Chi Chocolat.  Paired with a peerless selection of Deschutes beers such as Mirror Pond Pale Ale, Black Butte Porter, Chainbreaker White IPA, Inversion IPA, Nitro Obsidian Stout, Red Chair Northwest Pale Ale and The Abyss, there is something for everyone.  The “icing on the truffle” means a portion of the proceeds from the evening are donated to The Keep a Breast Foundation, a charity organization dedicated to raising awareness about breast cancer.

That’s why we’re hosting the Great Burger Design Competition with our friends from Deschutes Brewery – hours of fun with a gigantic line up of beers and a grill full of meat. On draft? No less than: Mirror Pond Pale Ale, Black Butte Porter, Inversion IPA, , Red Chair Northwest Pale Ale , Hop Henge Experimental IPA, the brand-new Chainbreaker White IPA, the never-released Black Butte XXII, Black Butte XXIII and Nitro Obsidian Stout. Live music from The Fab Lushes will be rocking the house from 2-5pm.
