Review: Blaze Media Pro - THE Multimedia App

And that is Blaze Media Pro (and it is even prettier than Quintessential Player - and that is a really good-looking media player).

Enough of multiple programs hogging your precious disk space. This powerhouse does it all. You can convert, edit, record, burn, rip, and play on one single interface to your heart's content. There's even a cool video editor where you can merge audio and video, capture video, as well as play with its full extraction and editing functions.

Other neat stuff I found useful on the fly are the MOV converter, video encoder, extracting audio from video files and... (more)

Tempted by my BFF Shen who runs her own empire figur8 on her very own domain host, I decided to try setting up my very own on my 2 currently existing domains with Wordpress, which I had heard rave reviews about. While Wordpress has its own recommended list, I wanted to also see what else was out there.

Now Atspace, with whom I had hosted for free with had been very good to me the past few years. While offering ad-free domain hosting, they unfortunately did not support Wordpress integration if I wanted to meddle with a Wordpress blog. Their customer service was a bit sketchy when I asked for... (more)

So your computer's dead in the water and using your brother's computer to Google for solutions doesn't help, what do you do?

When there is no solution, it is time to call for professional computer technical support.

So stuff the hardware bits back into their casing, make a coffee, and wait for them to arrive. Fret not, these guys know what they're doing. They're the pros after all.

Online Coupons are a must-have for all smart money netizens. You know who you are. You cut coupons from the newspapers, ask which credit cards offer a discount before paying for dinner, remember which item is cheapest at which supermarket. Yup, that's you. In this age of increasing inflation, there is no smarter option to manage your money: spend less.

If you want to save money online too, here is the way. I've blogged about other online coupon sites before but this one, Rather-Be-Shopping, includes a neat bonus: a blog which offers you advice on how to save money and be frugal. This double... (more)

Mobile Gadgetry: Beware Share Online 3.0 for Nokia

If you're running Share Online with Vox and Flickr already, note that you might need to exercise some manual dexterity if you update to Share Online 3.08(7). Many users, myself included, lost their Flickr service for Share after we ran the update. As far as I know it is geographical, which is kind of weird since they gave you the service in the first place.

Here's how to get Flickr back. Click here for the config file. Copy and paste it into your phone memory and click it. Voila! It is back.

As for Ovi, I found a solution online. It didn't work for me initially then I realised I... (more)

Mobile Gadgetry: Tips for Uploading to Flickr on the Nokia N82

Yup! I got it! After all the discounts I bought the newly released black Nokia N82 at S$393.

Among the wonders of the pretty much perfect phone, the function to seamlessly upload pictures to your Flickr account is no doubt one of the coolest and most useful. Unfortunately for me, I am not a frequent user of Flickr (for many reasons I'll list on another post) but to demonstrate how easy it is for the people who DO use it, here it is.

1. Open your Gallery.

2. Choose a photo.

3. Click the globe icon (second from top).

4. Follow instructions to connect to service and it... (more)

Mobile Gadgetry: Why Nokia N82 Beats N95 8GB Hands Down

I had my heart set on the N95 8GB for a few months now but after reading some reviews on the quality of the camera on the N82, I've fallen in love with it (see spec sheet). Plus the cheaper ticket price of $498 vs $668 for the N95 8GB is just icing on the cake.

Okay, so here's why it rules:

1. Better camera

Better image quality, especially night shots because of the xenon flash, thanks to numerous test shots viewed online. Faster shutter speed than the N95. An actual protective shutter cover for the Carl Zeiss lens. Yes, it is 5MP too.

2. Faster in general in loading anything

The Nokia... (more)

Vista Adventures: Common XP Problems

Yes, I've tons of complaints about Vista but XP has driven me up the wall before. It is always the case that when you have something new to complain about, the old gets forgotten. It is convenient I have forgotten the number of reformats I had had to do and the many restarts. This article reminded me to be grateful of some of the new shinys that Vista has brought.

Behold: Windows XP common problems!

Admittedly it is arguably the most stable OS to date, here are some of the classics:

1. Many frozen programs. Why oh why did you hang on me again, WoW?

2. Yet another corrupted file. Thanks to... (more)

Coding Tricks: Begone Ugly Scrollbar

If you recall, my tag board on the right had a vertical and a horizontal scrollbar. Very messy. So to remove it, all I had to do was add this snippet of code in the BODY section of the tag board CSS editor in Blogdrive:overflow-x: hidden; An alternative use is to embed it in your style sheet:style="overflow:hidden"Neat huh? Credit goes to the girlie matters.

Neat Find: 3GB Community

Here is a chance to be a pioneer in a spanking new community to rival Facebook, Multiply, and Friendster (latter of which, is by the way pretty dead now). I confess I use Facebook the most while I save Multiply for more intimate convos with old friends.

Anyhoo, the young comm 3GB has just opened its doors and it is so new it has no terms of service yet! Still, quite some many have joined and if it takes off, you can tell it must be from its snazzy Flash-based mp3 and chat interfaces.

Like most other community sites, you can upload pics, make new friends, connect with old ones, chat, blog,... (more)
