Is PageRank Really That Important?

I think a lot of people nowadays put way too much importance on PageRank (PR). Everybody seems to be obsessed with it and when another Google update is coming, people are in fear of All-Mighty-Google dropping their web site’s PR. Buying and/or selling links are taboo if you place them without using the no follow attribute and as a result, your web site will be penalized. I would recommend consulting a professional SEO company, or Zoekmachine Optimalisatie in Dutch, if you are not sure how to handle this.

Of course, PR does matter and it is supposed to give you an idea of the importance or popularity of a web site. If you really boil it down, you could say that PR is directly linked to how many other important web sites link to yours. So PR is all about the quality of links, not the quantity. Google’s philosophy is that if you have interesting content which is unique or have something on your site worth referring to, other sites will naturally link to you. And thus, this way you will build a network of web sites that link to you and your PR will increase over time. A good SEO company can help you accomplish this.

So now you are thinking, how does PR effect the SERP (Search Engine Result Pages)? Well, a high PR does not automatically result in a high ranking in the search results. Some pages have a PR0 and are on #1, so even though these two things are somewhat related, they are not directly linked to one another. PR is just a tiny fraction of the algorithm that determines how well your site will rank in the search results, so other sites with no PR can rank higher than you. Google works hard to keep on improving its algorithm, aiming to give people results that are most relevant to the keywords they have entered. Obviously this is a learning process and since the Internet is an ever changing entity as well, this is a very complicated task which demands continues work.

How to Check Fake or Valid PageRank

Google PageRank is obviously important to many webmasters, including me. Recently, when I go to different forums to buy high PR domain, I figure out that there are quite a lot of domains that "claim" to have high PR. In fact, the PR shown in Google Toolbar also indicates the claimed PR. But the truth is...

The victim of these scams are normally new webmasters who just jump into the domain market. They have spent several hundreds dollars to buy the new domains, but the truth is they are worthless. In light of that, I am going to discuss some easy ways how you can check a website/domain for a valid Google Page Rank or a fake page rank. So, how to check a fake/forged PageRank as well as a valid PageRank?

Step :1 ) Check the Google Toolbar. Because many website just add fake PageRank button or image on their website. So, if you have a functional Google Toolbar, you will immediately figure out the fake PR.

Step :2 ) Check to see if the page rank showed by Google tool bar is a temporary glitch or not. You may use iWebtool PageRank checker tool or checkpagerank.net to make sure all the Google data centers are showing the same page rank for a specific domain or webpage.

Step :3 ) Check to see if the website or domain PageRank is suspicious or valid by widely used SEOlogs's fake PageRank detection SEO tool and PR checker. In addition, checkpagerank.net also offers immediate answers on whether the PR is valid or forged

Step :4 ) The last step is to check few back links manually. You should type link:websitename.com in the Google search box. This step is very vital because, by following this step you can tell if the domain is using any redirection to achieve fake PageRank or not. Once Google shows all the backlinks in search results page (SERP), click on label "Cached" beside URL. It will show you the Google’s cache of that URL.

After you reach one of those Google's cached page, click to view the source code (Click View>"Source" or "Page Source" from your web browser's menu bar) of the webpage and search for the domain name you are trying to check for valid PR. If you do not find the domain name, try another URL from the search result page. If none of the URL shows the domain name in their source code, then you have to come to the conclusion that the domain or website you are checking valid PageRank for, used URL redirection to get fake PR.

I hope this post will help you to figure out a fake PageRank or a valid PageRank when you are going to buy a several hundreds domain names.

How to find .EDU or .GOV blogs to leave comments?

In order to get a higher PageRank (PR), you need to have a lot of backlinks. However, there are differences for the backlinks coming from different sites and domains. It was generally believed that the backlinks from .edu or .gov are important for Google PageRank. How would you build a lot of backlinks from .edu or .gov sites? One very good way to do so is to find some .edu or .gov blogs that do not have the no-follow attribute, and then leave comments to them.

In this post, I am going to reveal a very easy way to build links from .edu or .gov sites in a matter of minutes. The key is to search the .edu and .gov sites which contains the similar keywords as your site and allow to make comments. You can search in Google using the following search term: site:.edu in url:blog “comment” -”you must be logged in” -”posting closed” -”comment closed” “keyword”. Replace the keyword with anything related to your site will give you a list of .edu sites which you can make comments and get back links. You can do the same if you want to leave comments in .gov blogs.

But remember, many blogs have enabled the comment moderation, and so you should not leave any spam comments. Do make them interesting and constructive, and the moderator will thus approve your comment and your link will be shown.

Does PageRank Really Matter?

I came across a good post from Digitalpoint, and I think that is a good post to explain the relationship between PR (PageRank) and SERP. So, let's enjoy it.

Does PR really matters? Is SERP is everything? Is PR only good for link selling? Is buying links right? Or is selling links wrong? Can I gain any advantage with PR against my competitor? Can PR actually help me with anything at all if I am not selling/buying links?

In my opinion it really.... depends on your own ethics and needs as a webmaster and your purpose for the site overall. As for me, I don't buy or sell links, never did and never will cause according to me it is unnecessary and I believe in my own capabilities to be linked to by others.

In my honest opinion:

a) PR does matter, and it matters quite a lot. Why would it matter? How can I prove that? It matters when you search for the most competitive terms and only the ones with good PR turns up in SERP's first page. PR matters when you want reputation of a site not only in SERP rankings but in other people's opinion. PR matters in terms of trust also, a visitor who has the slightest idea of PR will know the difference of a PR less site and one without it. Does it mean that a site without PR and sites just starting up doesn't have that capability? Definitely it has the capability. Everyone starts from the pit, the very bottom where PR is non existent. Building trust and writing/creating "quality" content will earn that trust even if you do not have a PR. With that being said, now imagine if the site also had PR beside that quality content and trust! Exactly, at least and even if you don't rank well in the search engine, the people (the savvy ones) who will visit your site will know its importance in terms of google's opinion to it all.... I mean, its safe to assume that PR is Google's opinion of you... say it isn't so?

Some say, backlinks are everything.... wrong! Backlinks are only part of the PR assessment... The correct term should be quality backlinks and the diversity of those back links.... With much less quality backlinks (I am not talking in terms of 50 backlinks of course... more!) than another site it is most possible to achieve a good PR similar, equal, more than that site. It is a proven fact!

b) So does it mean that PR can effect SERP rankings? Hell knows it can! Search for the term computer and check the PR of the sites of the first page... all have PR! Good PR! Now some sites with higher PR will rank lower in the search engine.... why? Because my good friend, PR is given to you after a certain period of time, rankings are much much much more dynamic and the "whole pie" of rankings is not ENTIRELY based on PR. It is based on number of links, people talking about it without links, the diversity of the links, and the authority of those links as a whole. SERP positions can vary everyday, every hour but PR (talking about Toolbar PR here which... we can find out right?) varies only after a certain period of time. To me, SERP is determined by much more complex stuffs than PR, but PR is a big chunk of its determination. Coming back to the "lower PR higher serp" issue we will see that the difference in terms of position is merely between a page, meaning, if the lower PR site is at number uno then the higher PR site is there within the first page. BUT, in the long term without quality contents, that lower PR site will surely fall and that is a fact. But, the factor of time depends on the niche itself. Some niches get new content every one second and some does within a week so definitely the niche you are in really does matter.

c) Those saying PR is only good for link selling is absolutely blind. There are enough non profit organizations and bloggers and personal sites out there which can prove it wrong and I am one of them. I don't brag about PR (Hell my site is down right now!! ) and I think there is nothing to brag about, cause PR does the talking itself. Link buying/selling for PR in my opinion is just ugh!!! But, if you are buying/selling it for traffic then its a whole different issue but we are not going into that.

d) PR is very useful for ranking well in the SERP engine and I hope searching for the term of computer proves that. Like, Dell's PR is 8/10 and Apple's PR is 9/10. So why exactly would DELL be up there over Apple in the rankings? Because, its a general fact that Dell is much more popular to people than Apple is. So Dell ranks better! So next question is why don't Google presents Dell with Apple's PR or better? Simple, cause in terms of web development (I am talking about internet and not designing) Apple is much more relevant and "giving to the community" than Dell is and Apple is gifted with that PR 9 (once again in my opinion). In this world's economy not always quality comes first, sometimes we will compromise on quality if it is of a lesser price and easier to implement and that is the case with RANKINGS. PR is what the VALUE of a site is, RANKINGS is the POPULARITY of a site as a whole. Blackhatters can manipulate rankings big time but not in the long term, NEVER! Google is quite supreme and end of the day Google's search engine is an user friendly search engine.... NOT a webmaster friendly and that is the way it should be.... cause unlike you and me, others are not webmasters! It is OUR duty to get used to that cause that is how it SHOULD BE.

Lastly, as an webmaster it is your duty and motivation to serve your visitors right? If that is the case, then there should not be any problem with anything cause visitors give you PR. Not all visitors, NO... visitors who are other webmasters or visitors who are friends of other webmasters and who will promote your site for free. That what gives you rankings, both in terms of SERP and PR. This is the very reason why non profit sites do so well in terms of SERP and PR both, cause they simply do not care about it well and goes for quality content and so should everyone!

Lastly, PR matters like hell... and it will always matter cause PR after all haven't got any drawbacks whatsoever. And if your ethics are right in terms of PR, its easier to get than to lose it.

8 Tips to Maximize Revenue in Contextual Advertising

I been looking for information to increase my blog's contextual advertising revenues and here is what I found:

1. Determine What Kind of Blogs are best for Contextual Advertising

Contextual advertising may not fit for all blogs. Some blogs do extremely well with it, earning 5-figures or more in a month while others earn mere pennies a month. What surprise me is that it's not about traffic as there are some blogs getting only 5,000 ad impression that earn more that those getting 50,00 impression monthly. So, what kinds of blogs do well on contextual ads?

Experiences and testimonies reveal that visitor's characteristics determine what blogs work well with contextual ads. These are:

* Blogs where visitors are in a buying mood
* Blogs where visitors are looking for information on specific products or services that interest them. These may be product, business opportunity, looking to buy tickets, and etc.
* Blogs where visitors are researching ways to spend money.
* Blogs where there is a high percentage of fresh unique visitors as regular visitors tend to ignore ads
* Blogs where visitors show an interest to ads, and not just the blog's offerings
is also what the technology will read to serve well-targeted ads.

So, if you are up to contextual advertising, the next time you create your next blog, be sure the kind of visitor will fall under the above categories. And if contextual advertising is not working for you as you expect, be sure to check out other forms to monetize your blog such as affiliate programs and CPM-based advertising.

2. Develop High Quality Content for Your Visitors

Looking at it from the advertisers' perspective, many prefer their ads to be shown on blogs with good content. Remember, content is what brings visitors to blog, and content is what makes them interested in the ad. In contextual advertising, content

3. Stick firmly to the Terms and Policy of Contextual Ad Networks

You don't want to lose a good revenue source that may be giving you as much as $2,000 a month just because you did not read the terms that you have supposedly agreed. Read and understand the terms of service. Its' purpose is to spells out the do's and don'ts that will guide you in your program participation.

4. Use and Analyze Data

As a participant in a contextual advertising program, you will be provided with reports that tell you how effective the program is working on your blog. The basic metrics will include page/ad impressions, number of clicks, click-through rate (CTR) and earnings. Some provide effective CPM, or the cost per thousand impressions. These metrics can help you analyze what is working well in your blog, and whether you can improve your revenues.

5. Repeated Experiments

Experiment and see what works best for your blog. If the revenue increases, then stick with it. If not, leave it and try something else.

You can manipulate 3 things to increase your contextual advertising revenues. These are ad impressions, number of clicks, and click-through rate. Even if your traffic is not growing as fast as you hope for, you can grow your revenues if you improve your click-through rate. And you can improve the performance of the contextual ads in your blog by experimenting on layout, colors, ad format, and number of ads.

6. Blog Promotion

This is one of the most difficult parts to do. Increasing the traffic to your blogs and continuously building your blog (like publishing new posts frequently) is always a good way to improve revenues, not just contextual advertising.

7. Keywords Diversity

Advertisers bid for keywords and the amount they are bidding affects your contextual advertising earnings. To protect your revenues from wild fluctuations, the best approach would be to diversify your keywords by developing content based on different topics.

8. Build an Empire of Blogs

This is similar to the tips I shared before in Make $500 a Month with Adsense. Remember, don't put all your eggs in one basket, as it may fails all of sudden. The more blogs you have the higher your contextual revenue expected. If one blog's contextual advertising dries up, you still have others to enjoy, right?

I hope you find the above information valuable. These are excellent ideas to follow to increase your blog's contextual revenues.

Good luck.

Ten Common Techniques to Link Baiting

Further to my previous post on "Grab Links for Your Blog by Link Baiting", I would like to write more on this method, and give ten common techniques for link baiting activities.

1. Podcasting: Make a podcast that give useful tips, discusses hot topics or information within the industry your blog belongs to is a great baiting tool.

2. Interviews: Conducting interview to someone well known in the industry where your blog belong would certainly be worth linking to. In Adsense, these big guys include Darren Rowse, Joel Comm, John Chow etc. (when will I be the next one? LOL)

3. Award Search: Awards search are another way to bring in traffic and links where you let your participants post entries to their blogs with a link pointing to your blog.

4. Tools and games: Create a new tool or games that other bloggers may use to their blogs that contains a link to your blog. But that is not a easy task unless you know much about programming.

5. Content: Articles and blog posts are a great way to go about link baiting. You need to use your imagination to make your post linking compelling.

6. Video: Creating a funny or informative video can create quiet a buzz. Indeed, vblogs are getting more common in Web 2.0.

7. Giveaways and contests: These are great for a quick boost in traffic. Giveaways need to have an associated monetary value.

8. Blogs and forums: These are usually overlooked as a form of linking baiting, but they are one of the earliest forms of link baiting.

9. Guest bloggers: Let me post a post on your blog and you can post on mine for a cross promotion. It's a great way to get a link as well.

10. Lists: List are very popular because they are a list of something of value that people want, all in one place.

Grab Links for Your Blog by Link Baiting

It took me several days to write this super long post, and so please enjoy.

Have you every found a method for other bloggers to link to your new blog? I'm sure you did. You probably were doing this by requesting exchange links. Yes, link exchange will work but aside that it's a time consuming activity, the number of links you gathered here is limited unless you want your blog to become a directory link for all other blogs.

My question now is - how are you going to get hundreds or thousands of natural links pointing to your blog? You may answer - have a high quality content post/blog. You are just partly correct. This may just give you a few extra links but not hundreds or thousands. You must not only create a high quality content post but high quality content with linkbaiting strategy mechanism. Yes - linkbaiting is the answer. This can deliver hundreds or thousands of natural links pointing to your blog quickly.

Successful bloggers often said, if you want to have a successful blog, make something worth linking to. Linkbaiting is recognized as the most effective way to build links for a site.

But, remember, linkbait is Not Just About Getting Links. Many people think linkbaiting is all about getting links, but that's not all. For the vast majority of web marketers, three unique elements define the goals of nearly every project - traffic, conversion and branding. When implemented properly, linkbait is a great strategy for achieving two of these three goals (traffic and branding) directly, and the other (conversion) indirectly.

The process of branding involves identifying successful ways to get in front of your industries airways, building some content and promoting it.

Tip (If you are a solo blogger, one good technique of branding is to make your name as your domain name like what Steve Pavlina did with stevepavlina.com. But if you plan to sell the domain one day, you will find it harder to sell if it's your name.)

How to Generate Link Baiting Ideas

Many people think that creating link baiting ideas is a tough job, but not at all. While it demand some creative thinking, many bloggers did it all alone. I will feature some of them below, how they generate linkbaiting ideas and their successes. For now, I will borrow the words of Scott who made a great post about generating link baiting ideas. His 4 four-stage approach include:

1. Write Down Everything. This is the mental hemorrhaging phase wherein we all just blurt out any and all ideas that come to mind. Don't censor or edit yourself during this phase; take down every idea no matter how bizarre, idiotic or far fetched it may sound.
2. Breakdown Your Ideas. Once you've squeezed every last drop of creative juice from your head, it's time filter everything out. It's a good idea to breakdown each idea (no censoring or editing yet) into its Concept and Content components. That is, what is the format (Concept) for the suggested LinkBait (tool, widget, top ten list, how to guide, blog post, etc.) versus what is the subject (Content) of the suggested LinkBait (Wii, iPod, PPC ads, pigs, celebrity weddings, etc.). Separate these into two lists.
3. Evaluate Content. Ignoring your Concept list, critically evaluate your Content list. Are there time-sensitive ideas? Are there some that can wait for a relevant piece of news to complement them? Are there ideas you'd really like to write about? Are there ideas that can go into storage for a dry-spell?
4. Mix and Match. Once you've prioritized the Content, you can now mix and match it with your Concept list. No story/content is beholden to the original format you brainstormed it in. Is your story something that might make Digg? Then consider the Concepts that do well there: top ten, how to, etc. Can it be interactive? Perhaps a tool or poll Concept would be effective. By marrying your priority Content to the most appropriate Concept, you can optimize the effectiveness, reach and novelty to your intended audience.

Hook Your Readers with Linkbait

Hook is an element that draws readers into your blog. And in order to bait a link, you need a hook. According to Nick Wilson, there are 5 popular varieties of hook. Together with the specific examples, these are:

1. News hook
* A genuine Scoop. Get to the news first
* A compilation of news, as above, its a resource aswell as a news hook.
* Expose a story for a fraud, or to be flawed. You really have to know your subject to do that, but links flow like water if you can debunk a popular meme

2. Contrary Hook
* Be the only one in your niche to find something to not like about a story, or like about a story/product.
* On the same theme, post "Why is WRONG about..."

3. Attack Hook - This works much the same as the contrary hook, you just get to be much, much ruder.

4. Resource Hook
* A comprehensive list of blogs in your niche - link out, and links will come in, i promise.
* A practical/useful or even fun tool related to your niche
* A How To based on your niche
* A compilation of news stories on a theme. Sprinkle a little analysis in there, and you're good to go.

5. Humour Hook - These kinds of hooks are just too easy.
* Search flickr, or photoshop a bizzare pic of your subject
* Post "10 thing i hate about..."
* Post "You know you're a when..."

How to Format Your Link Bait to Be Effective

Effective link bait comes with a certain format. You need to do things to make your link bait more effective such as:

* Make your link bait EASY to link at.
* Make your idea look polarized so you will get quality links from all angle.
* Make your link bait look comprehensive.
* Cite research, further reading, and link out to related resources from within your content. It makes your story look well researched and associates your work with other trusted names or brands in your field. You may even want to cite a few people that you want links from.
* Dress up your link bait using quality design and / or relevant

The Amazing Indirect Value of Linkbait

Link bait rarely makes much money or directly pays for itself from the direct traffic. However, it has amazing indirect value.

* People are hungry looking for high quality content. Podcasting: Make a podcast that give tips, discusses news or information within the industry your blog belong is great baiting tool.
2. Interviews: Conducting interview to someone well known in the industry where your blog belong would certainly be worth linking to.
3. Award Search: Awards search are another way to bring in traffic and links where you let your participants post entries to their blogs with a link pointing to your blog
4. Tools and games: Create a new tool or games that other bloggers may use to their blogs that contains a link to your blog.
5. Content: Articles and blog posts are a great way to go about linkbaiting. You need to use your imagination to make your post linking compelling.
6. Video: Creating a funny or informative video can create quiet a buzz.

Tips for Linkbait Success

I'd like to borrow the words from Rand Fishkin in his post entitled Leveraging Linkbait. He outlined 7 tips of linkbait success. There are:

1. Find Appropriate Linkbait Portals. Identify those news outlets, blogs or social media sites that you're seeking to get a link from. In the areas of technology, Digg, TechCrunch and Slashdot are great candidates. For humor or offbeat news, Fark and Reddit may make better choices. Depending on your content, sites like the popular blog Boing Boing, Yahoo!'s Site of the Day or Netscape may make good choices.
2. Understand Your Audience. Normally, you’re building content targeted to your site’s visitors—people who want your products, services or content. But for linkbait, you need to also appeal to an entirely different audience—one that can help your site achieve mass appeal in the niche that you select. I advise reviewing the coverage you see for other links in your area; using del.icio.us tags and blog archives can help with this process.
3. Brainstorm Effectively. You want to find ideas that are so compelling, they blow you away. Imagine pitching your idea to a writer at the New York Times; would he or she be likely to write about it? If so, you've got a gem.
4. Build Beautiful Bait. The user experience, graphic design and usability of the content you build need to have the look and feel of success. A professional layout and tasteful headlines, graphics and embedded content will go a long way toward selling your audience on your content's worthiness.
5. Create a Reputation. Linkbait is difficult to launch the first few times if no one on the Web has heard of your brand. Once you've spent some time in the blogosphere and social media space, you may find that a lot of your content goes viral without any effort on your part. Thus, creating a reputation is an important part of making linkbait successful. If you need some help, try leveraging industry contacts that have pull with prominent bloggers and respected profiles at social sites.
6. Grab Their Attention. Writing the headlines and initial descriptions to submit to the social sites, emailing bloggers and appearing in search results is a critical part of linkbait. Many readers will see your headline, and in the early phase it's critical that they follow your link and help to spread your message. Check out Brian Clark's two posts on writing great headlines, here and here.
7. Don't Be Manipulative—and DON'T SPAM. You might have to try linkbaiting several times before you get good at the process; in the meantime, make sure that you don't burn bridges by spamming bloggers with email requests to cover your piece, or repeatedly tagging your own content at the social media sites from the same IP addresses.

I have used several days to write this post, and if you like it, please share it with your friends by linking us back, or digg/stumbleupon it. Thanks!

How to Protect Yourself from Sabotage Click

It is definitely a nightmare for me and you to receive the notification email saying that your site has been disabled. Among all the reasons, invalid clicks and impressions found in your sites is the most common reason suggested by Google. I am sure over 80% of this case, publishers are totally innocent and must get frustrated by this. Instead, most of the time your site was getting sabotage clicks/click fraud. Click fraud occurs when a person, automated script, or computer program imitates a legitimate user of a web browser generate any click on an ad. These clicks are done for the purpose of either to terminate one's Adsense account or increasing the financial burden of the advertisers.

To prevent Adsense click fraud and protect your Adsense business, you should install a more sophisticated Adsense tracking tool and monitoring software, such as Adlogger, Sitemeter, Addfreestats, Extremetracking, etc on your Adsense website. You should constantly monitoring your Adsense site using those Adsense tracking tool in conjunction with your Google Adsense channel.

Those information and features include:

* Which Ad has been clicked
* The details of PPC Ads
* The time and origins of each click.
* The browsing history of each IP on your site
* Block certain IP from click on your Adsense Ads
* Alert you and stop multiple clicks from the same IP

With a more complex tracking tools installed on your website, it would be easier for you to spot any unusual and suspicious click activities on your websites. Once you have discovered unusual or suspicious activities on your Adsense site, you can alert your PPC companies (in this case Google Adsense Support Team) about these activities immediately and let them investigate the problem. This will provide your Adsense business minimum protection against click fraud.

Some of those advanced tracking tools will give you extra tracking information and features which are not provided at your Adsense Channel. Since different trackers have different technology to trace, they have their own stats and behavior for your site. You should make your own judgment for which stats to rely on.

Google's Click Fraud Detection System

In general practice, Google uses a 3-stage detection methods to detect click frauds and invalid clicks:

1. Real Time Filters: In this stage, automated algorithms from Google filter out invalid clicks in real time. All the clicks are analyzed for click fraud. This stage detects most of the invalid clicks in advance and prevents those clicks from reaching your account in the first place.

2. Offline Analysis: After the first stage of real time filter, most of the invalid clicks are automatically filtered out. The second step involves manual analysis of clicks. This stage is mainly focused on the Adsense network. In case some invalid clicks still pass through this stage, Google has a policy that states that if you have been charged for invalid clicks in the past 2 months, you see a credit in your "Billing Summary" labeled "Adjustment-Click Quality".

3. Investigations: Almost all the clicks are filtered out in the first two stages itself. In the last stage of the 3-stage system, all the clicks and advertiser inquiries are investigated by the Google click quality system. If invalid clicks are detected, a refund is made to the advertiser.

Google takes click fraud protection to the advertisers very seriously and is doing a great deal of researches on updating its click fraud detection technology regularly. But on the publisher's side, I'm still afraid that the detection system is far from perfect, and hence often ban the innocent publishers. It is not hard to hear many publishers claiming that their Adsense account has been lost due to invalid clicks. How poor it is.

Importance of Inbound Links - How to get them?

In my previous post on Building Blog Traffic by Link Exchange, I mentioned that link exchange (reciprocal links) will no longer help you increase website popularity but will still help you gain targeted visitors to your site. This time, I am going to talk about one way inbound link, explain how important it is and why every webmaster should have as many as possible. One way inbound link worth a lot more than reciprocal links. Not only it can gain targeted visitors to your blog but also it will increase the search engine ranking (SERP) and in effect will bring you more traffic. Hence, link building is also known as "Off-page optimization" in SEO sense.

In real-life, it is never be easy to get inbound link, and in fact, you may need to pay much more time and money to get it. Say for example, many people buy one way inbound link from Da Gsense Codes for $20 a month.

What are the benefits of getting one way inbound links?

Search engine robots work by following links between websites and blogs. The more inbound links your blog has, the more often robots will visit your blog. Also, search engines assume that if lots of websites link to your blog it must be high quality. Many search engines count links to your blog as "votes" for you. Page Rank is Google's system of counting links.

The general rule is that the more inbound links you can get, the better. Getting more links should almost certainly be near the top of your priority list when optimizing your blog.

Now the problem is: how can you get them? There are many ways to get one way inbound link but the best way is simply to create blog posts which other webmasters will want to link to. These are known as natural links. Natural links have many advantages:

• Natural links will come to you without much effort except creating the content in the first place. You don't have to work to acquire them.

• The links will be diverse in nature as you will gain different anchor text.

• They are free and you don't have to reciprocate the link.

• The referring pages tend to be similarly themed. This is likely to become more important in the future.

If you are lucky you will attract enough natural links to give your blog a boost. However, most blogs need to make a lot of efforts to acquire inbound links.

Creating an effective online presence begins with quality content. After you put your heart and soul everyday into your works online, you might start to wonder when traffic will start rolling into your blog.

Build Blog Traffic by Link Exchange

Some says link exchange will do more harm than good to your blog, but I don't agree. Link exchange, on one hand, can be a great way to increase your Page Rank and on the other hand, gain a better position in Google. Apart from that, you can get more traffic from the back links of other blogs. Now, this method has become less effective as it will no longer help you with site popularity but will still gain targeted visitors to your site.

Let me first tell you why link exchange will no longer help you increase website popularity before we go on building blog traffic through exchanging links the right way.

Many webmaster indulge in what I call spam indexing. These cheaters are targeting search engines that rely heavily on popularity and links. Some may buy links to raise popularity. Others engaged in exchanging links with anybody and everybody just to gain popularity. There are even dozen of small websites purposely made to link the main one just to give false view of website popularity.

While link exchange will no longer help you increase popularity, it retain it’s effectiveness to get targeted blog traffic. However there are a few points to remember.

1. Do link exchange with blogs and websites whose general theme are similar or complimentary to your blog.

2. Do link exchange only with blogs and websites you think will be valuable to your visitors. This is important for your own business reputation and Page Rank with Google.

3. Do not link exchange with blogs or website that has huge collections of links from anywhere and everywhere. These websites will not bring you any traffic and can actually get your blog banned by Google.

As you can see link exchanges will still do well to your blog. You just need to adapt to get the best possible use out of them. They will not affect your popularity much but as you can see might affect your Page Rank due to the type of websites you are partnering with. With these few points you can still gain targeted traffic and sales by using this method of promotion wisely.

If you are really serious of building blog traffics for weeks, months or even years without spending a dime on advertising, why don't you get a copy of Turn Words Into Traffic by Jim and Dallas Edward.
Tools that Generate Money in Adsense

Further to my post on three money-making models in Adsense yesterday, I am going to share some of the successful Adsense tools to supplement the abovementioned models which can really help you to earn big bucks. But one thing I need to mention is that these tools are not free, and you need to spend money on them (except the last one which is a free information I would like to share with you). If you don't want to spend money, simply ignore them.

1. Adsense Videos

If you want to be taken by the hand by a Google Adsense guru and shown, step by step, what you need to do to make Adsense work best for you, then these videos from Michael Cheney are very highly recommended. Cheney proved that he really know his stuff by achieving the top spot in the ClickBank Google Adsense product ratings and you don't get there without high quality products and services.

2. Adsense Big

This product is referred to all over the internet as one of the best solutions to increase your Adsense earnings. Adsense Big is an advanced tracking system for Google's Adsense program. This script will show you what kind of content is generating the clicks, which ad formats and color combinations work best & which search engines and/or keywords to optimize for. You can definitely use the information to make more money. I did try, and quite satisfied with that.

3. HyperRE - Viral Adsense Software

It is a content generator, and can generate thousands fresh and unique content-rich webpage from highly-targeted keyword lists. Ever heard that "Content is King"? That's only half of it... "Fresh and unique Content is King"!

4. The Google Adsense Jerk

The information provided is free if you want to wait as it comes in over five days. If you want all the information immediately, then you have to pay (I recommend that you don't!). If you can put up with the smugness, the information provided is actually quite valuable.

Three Money-Making Models in Adsense

Not long before, I could still remember standing in awe when one adsense publisher claimed to be making over $50K a month from his Google Adsense and an another $50K from different affiliate products. In my mind, I could not help but believe that if he can do it, I can also do it and everyone can also be equally successful in generating high income revenue from Google Adsense monthly.

Several months later where I carried out research on Google Adsense, read more successful stories of people who were successful Google Adsense publishers, read a few ebooks on the subject, downloaded tools and webpage generating software. I realize that this is not a myth that I can hardly achieve.

My aim was simple, to uncover the successful methods and make at least one of these techniques as mine and be equally successful, if not better. My research uncovered 3 models that could lead to success. There might be more, but these 3 models figured prominently as I carried out my personal private research.

1. The Numbers Game Model

This model is based on the concept of build, build and build. By far this model was reported to be widely successful. Here, the key to maximizing Google Adsense revenue was to engage in a "numbers game". The more websites you build, the higher is the revenue provided your keyword research is well done.

A prominent feature of this model was to use some form of auto generating software that can generate directories or portals using a series of rotating templates, then uses RSS and blogging to maintain and update the sites on a daily basis. Care must be keenly exercised that the web site adheres to Google Adsense policy and to appear good from the search engines viewpoint.

2. The Content Model

When you derived high income Google Adsense revenue from a single or couples of blogs, most likely you are using the content model. In the content model, a blog is developed under a specific niche. Generally, the blogger begin to research for sets of keywords relative to the niche and then build the blog content consisting of several post around these keywords. The key to this type of model is high traffic generation cause by high quality content.

Popular successful bloggers often used the content model. They became popular because in time they built their credibility by constantly creating high quality content. Remember, high quality contents will lead to high traffic blog which will lead to high income Google Adsense revenue.

3. The Single Page Model

When you derived Google Adsense revenue from a single page site or blog then you are using the single page model. For this model to generate revenue, website promotion is very necessary. There are many ways to promote a website or blog. One can use automated software for article submission to win back links in return which will lead to traffic generation. There were reports that this model is successful, however I did not receive figures to substantiate this claim nor have seen any figures.

If you are a serious Google Adsense publisher, let me ask you this question. Which of the three models is applicable and useful to you? Tomorrow, I am going to share three good sources of that can assist your Adsense business.

Drive Traffic to Your Blog by Pinging

You want more blog traffic? Have you ever heard of pinging? If not, you can keep reading this post, because pinging can surely increase blog traffic to your site. Pinging is an act of sending a series of packets from one computer over a network or the Internet to a specific computer in order to generate a response from that computer. The other computer responds with an acknowledgment that it received the packets. Ping was created to verify whether a specific computer on a network or the Internet exists, and is connected.

Pinging and Blog Traffic

Certain Web sites want to know when you post something new to your blog so they can promote it to the world. By pinging these Web sites you can get the word out easily. This allows you to build blog traffic. Most blogging software will ping to at least one of these Web sites automatically. However, you can easily promote your new post to dozens more. The good thing about this, you don't have to visit their site each time you want to promote your blog.

There are a number of services designed specifically for tracking and connecting blogs. By sending a small ping to each service you let them know you've updated your blog so they can come check you out.

One way to maximize your pinging is by using a service called Ping-o-Matic. By pinging the Ping-o-Matic service you automatically send update notifications out to as many as 22 sites. Be careful not to ping too often though; many ping services will block you if your pings become over zealous.

Another Good Thing About Pingging

Since pinging alerts the major blog tracking sites it then helps search engines crawl and reindex your new content much quicker. This also helps your search engine positioning which is even better for your business. You should ping your blog every time you write new content and update your blog. This way others know immediately that your blog has been updated.

Simplified Google Pagerank Formula in Points

I am that kind of webmaster that aims to achieve better PR for all of my sites, though I am still reluctant to buy or pay for the backlinks, since I often hear those bad sides of them. My attempt to gain links from the others' sites is through my content and quality posts. When readers visit and read all the posts in your site and find it useful, they will be more likely to put a backlink to you for their respective readers.

I am going to share a new and yet simplified Google Pagerank formula with you. I came across with this is DigitalPoint. If you have a good memory, you may know that I have shared a similar formula in terms of links. But this time, this formula would be in points form. See which one you prefer.

There are some rules suggested by the author that you need to remember:
- If you receive a link to any related sites, multiply your points FROM THAT SITE ONLY by 7

- If you site is entirely original content multiply your points by 1.7

- If you buy any backlinks or attempt to artificially increase PR in any way multiply all points by 0 and go do something else

New Privacy Policy in Updated Terms and Conditions

If you login your Adsense account is these few days, you must notice that there is a page showing the new Terms and Conditions (T&C) on the first page, and prompting you to read through and accept them. If you decide not to accept or forget to accept it by 5.3.2008, your account will then be terminated. That means if you want to continue to participate in this Adsense program like me, you have to accept it.

This time around, most of the changes to the Terms and Conditions fall into two broad categories: 1) future products and features and 2) privacy requirements. In addition to that, there are some specific requirements that make it necessary for publishers to post and abide by a transparent privacy policy that users see. According to this policy, publishers must notify their users of the use of cookies and/or web beacons to collect data in the ad serving process. This change relates to advertisers' use of innovative products and features like Gadget Ads and other offerings in the future.

Clear enough? You are required to show your visitors a "transparent privacy policy". Although there is no clear standard format of such privacy policy should look like, some publishers already put the policies in order to entertain Google. To me, I am planning to make a separate page to show it. Many publishers asked me how to make one in their sites. Luckily, I found one site that is useful to make the policy by filling the necessary information. If you cannot afford to lose your Adsense account, you may try to have your own privacy policy here.

But honestly, since this updated T&C is freshly released, Google should provide enough time for us to accommodate and fulfill it. No worry if you don't want to make such privacy policy at the moment, or you are out of town right now.

Since this is quite an important announcement by Google, I will post it to both Da Gsense Code and Blog For Money.

Request Your Readers to Write Articles for Your Blog

Further to my previous post on hiring someone else to write article for you, I would like to share more about article writing if you refuse to do it yourself. What can you do if you don't want to pay for an article, and yet want to keep up the posting frequency in your blog? Another solution is to ask your readers to write for you. OF course, it is only applicable to those big blogs with at least 100 RSS readers.

Have you ever considered that your readership can provide you a good source of articles? Since most likely your readers also know the topic of blog well (otherwise they would not subscribe your feed, and stay the top of your blog new posts), they can easily write a related post for you. However, the main problem of this method is quality, and most of the time, the articles are merely copied from other sites which make it no longer unique. Make sure that you need to obtain the ownership of the article, after receiving it from the readers.

Pay for the Professional Post - Save your time

Although you maybe very familiar with the topic of the blog you are writing, you may not have the idea to write a post every time, especially if you post everyday in your blog. It comes to a dilemma, it is good to have post everyday, but you do not know what to write for the coming days. Even do how much I try; my mind just never feed me with some thoughts to write about. But this is not the only reason why we can’t provide new entries to our blogs at times. I mean, let's be honest. We all are not free for our blogs all the time. But how do successful bloggers find solutions in similar situation like this?

Let the expert make new entries to your blog. What, are you kidding? No, I'm serious and yes, successful bloggers do invite other bloggers to post entries to their blogs. This will not mean they are out of topics to discuss with. They simply understand that they are not an expert to all the subjects their readers wanted to read about, of which their blog should provide. So, they invite others to post to their blogs.

Some bloggers hire people to make entries to their blog while others form some alliance with other bloggers to setup for cross-posting.

Hiring professional writers to make some entries to your blog means you have to pay certain amount of money. So, you have to weigh the expenses for hiring against the value these writers will add into your blog in terms of keeping the traffic coming and the returns that will be made from those traffic. The other thing you need to keep in mind is that most writers for hire are not experts on the subject you wanted them to write about. Only they do extensive research to make them sound an expert.

The good thing about hiring writers for your blog is that you will earn all the credits from your readers of providing the information they wanted as they may not know that you're paying somebody to make entries for you. They see you as a total expert.

Making alliance to other bloggers and inviting the same for cross-posting is another good way of keeping the traffic coming and in increasing blog traffic as well. The good thing about this is that invited bloggers are mostly experts on the subject you wanted them to talk about and they will do this all for free to gain more exposure, build and spread their credibility and to win more readers from other's blog. You will enjoy the same opportunity by also cross-posting to their blogs.

Whether you hire writers to write something about for your blog or you form alliance with other bloggers by cross-posting, the bottom line is, you need to satisfy your readers by give them the information they wanted. I am planning to have one too, if you are interested, please let me know by any means.

Traffic from Blog Directory Submission

I have previously written a post on directory submission, and I want to discuss more on it today. Almost all bloggers should know that directory submission will increase blog traffic to a certain extent. I know, you knew it but how much have you done submitting your blog and RSS feed to blog directories? Blog directories is a bit different from the normal directory that it is specifically designed for blog submission only and the classification inside is far more detailed.

I suppose, this is a good opportunity to conduct a survey. Another follow-up question is this, how much directory submission will you think be enough to turn your blog into money making machine? When your target is blog for money, maybe or just maybe 100 directory submission will not be enough. For this blog, I aimed for 1000 directory submission done before the year ends. I will post here names and links of the directories to which this blog is submitted and keep this entry updated until I reach 1000 submission. Later, after some time, in my future post, I may be able to tell you which directories will bring good blog traffic. So keep visiting this blog.

Using "TrackBack" to Increase Traffic

To many bloggers, TrackBack may not be a popular thing. Many do not even know about it and among those who are knowledgeable about TrackBack, never used it on their blogs. But, I am going to share this little tools, since this tool can be a very effective one to bring good traffic to your site, if you know how to use it properly.

At the very beginning, you may want to know: "what is TrackBack?"

TrackBack is a system implemented by Movable Type and later adopted by many blogging tools, including TypePad, BoastMachine, WordPress, and Nucleus. Essentially, TrackBack is a mechanism or platform for communication between blogs and bloggers. If a blogger writes a new post commenting on or referring to the post found on another blog and if both the commenting blogger's blog and the other blog has TrackBack mechanism support, then the commenting blogger can notify the other blog with a "TrackBack ping" which means the other blog will automatically display a backlink and summaries of the commenting blogger's new post at the post which had been cited to.

How Do We Notify The Other Blog with a TrackBack Ping?

First, understand that not all blog has enable TrackBack functionality. When they do, you should see a TrackBack link at the bottom of the post. Once you find the link and you wish to talk about the post made by another blogger, click the TrackBack link of that post and copy the TrackBack URL.

Once you have that TrackBack URL, go to your own blog and create a new entry related to that post. Before posting your entry, paste the TrackBack URL in the space provided for TrackBacks. This will send the notification to the blog you referenced once you publish your entry. Therefore, there, you've sent a TrackBack. Just make sure when you're sending TrackBack URLs that your blog entry is relevant to the one you are referring to. Otherwise, you will be perceived as a TrackBack spammer.

How to use TrackBack Effectively Increase Blog Traffic?

Remember, sending TrackBack ping to other blog will automatically create a backlink and summaries of the commenting blogger's new post at the post which had been cited to. Unlike usual backlinks, backlinks made by TrackBack ping may not increase your search engine ranking but will still served as a doorway to your blog.

To increase blog traffic using TrackBack, send TrackBack ping to high traffic blogs and popular blog post. This will cause a portion of their traffic flowing to your blog. Also send TrackBack ping to blogs whose theme are closely related to your blog as their loyal blog traffic will certainly be interested in your post.

Again, just make sure when you're sending TrackBack ping that your blog entry is relevant to the one you are referring to.

Also, if you want to let people send TrackBack pings to your weblog, make sure that you have it enabled. Some blogging systems like Blogger need extra plugins or third party services to have TrackBack feature. To have this blog a Trackback feature I need to use a free third party services by HaloScan.

HaloScan Brings TrackBack Functionality to Blogger, Blogspot, and other Blogging tools w/o their own commenting and trackback features

According to the News from HaloScan.com, "HaloScan fills this need by providing you not only with the (free) commenting services we have provided for the last one and half years, but also easy, seamless integration of trackback services (both incoming and outgoing ping support) to all existing and future Haloscan members. All this at the unbeatable price of $0.00–FREE. Getting started requires minimal work–sign up, log in and follow the simple, two-step directions to install trackback and/or commenting into your weblog. We highly recommend that all existing and new users install both the commenting and trackback services but you can also install just one or the other as needed. If you have trouble with any part of this process, we'll be glad to help! Also, be sure to send a trackback ping to this post if you install the trackback system or write about us in your weblog."

The only difference when using HaloScan's TrackBack feature is that, sending TrackBack ping is no longer made from your blog’s new post but from your account in HaloScan site.

If you use TrackBack effectively, it can definitely help you get constant blog traffic round-the-clock.

Use RSS Feed to Generate Traffic

As stated in my previous post, this blog implemented Technorati Tag to get some traffic. So, maybe you might ask, how was it? What's the traffic? Honestly, I still don't no. It's too early to track the traffic and this blog is just 3 days old. But I will start telling you about the traffic maybe after 10 posts.

Today, I visited high traffic blogs and try to list down their common features. There are a number of which but for now, I will just tackle one - RSS feed. Yes, most high traffic blogs publish RSS feed.

Every serious blogger publishes an RSS feed of his posts and readers aggregate all their favorites blogs feeds in an aggregator. When you publish your RSS feed, your viewers will thank you, and there will be more of them, because it allows them to see your site without going out of their way to visit.

While this seems bad at first glance, it actually improves your blog's visibility; by making it easier for your users to keep up with your site - allowing them to see it the way they want to - it's more likely that they'll know when something that interests them is available on your site.

For example, imagine your blog announces a new product or feature every week or two. Without a feed, your viewers have to remember to come to your blog and see if they find anything new - if they have time. If you provide a feed for them, they can point their aggregator or other software at it, and it will give them a link and a description of developments at your blog almost as soon as they happen.

By providing a feed, you are in front of them constantly, improving the chances that they'll click through to a post that catches their eye and visit your blog.

Here, this blog now provide a feed for which anybody can subscribe. There are various formats or protocols of feed available such as RSS and Atom. However, my feeds are readable to any format the subscriber is using because of SmartFeed service by FeedBurner. So what is FeedBurner?

FeedBurner

FeedBurner is a service that takes a normal, everyday RSS or Atom feed of any kind and turns (burns) it into a FeedBurner feed that you can then distribute to readers for use in any RSS reader. The company currently hosts more than 470,000 combined RSS and Atom feeds for over 280,000 content publishers and delivered feeds to 19 million subscribers.

One reason a blog owner would want to use this is because it simplifies the RSS feed. The Feed URL for this blog, for instance, is http://feeds.feedburner.com/blogformoney2, which is a much simpler format that standard RSS feeds. Also, most blogging software offers a variety of RSS feeds - Atom, RSS 1.0, 2.0, etc. Sometimes these feeds don’t work properly with some readers. And if a blog can get most of its readers to use the single Feedburner feed, they can take advantage of the great statistics and tools to see where readers are coming from and what they are clicking on.

Another big reason for using FeedBurner, however, is that it can automatically add Google Adsense ads to your feeds, allowing you to easily generate revenue if you have a large enough audience. For more information, come and visit Feedburner.

Get Traffic from Technorati

In order to turn your blog as well as this blog into money making machine it needs to have traffic. No traffic simple means no money. The higher the traffic you get, the higher the chances of you getting big money. So getting traffic is all important.

Many first time blogger automatically assume that once their blog is setup and they put a few posts on it, they will get some hits and regular readers. This is definitely a wrong impression. You won't get any traffic if no one knows about your blog. So at this early, it is good to focus on how to boost traffic for your blog.

I took a look around at what some of the successful blogs were doing and came up with a number of traffic strategies that help them increase their blog traffic. As we go along, I will discuss these strategies one by one. For now, let me talk about boosting your blog traffic with Technorati.

Technorati is one of the best traffic providers for bloggers. People find your blogs easily when people search by technorati tags. Technorati will rank your blog based on the number of links from other websites. The higher your rank the easier your blog is to find when people search for things.

Again, how will Technorati give you great traffic? Basically, you need to do three things: First, add tags that are specific to your blog. Next, add tags that people are likely to be searching for that also apply to the things that you are writing about. Lastly, actively recruit links from other blogs to your blog by asking other bloggers to link to you.

Great, how do I get started?

It's so simple to get started with Technorati. First you sign up, and get a username and password. Once you've signed up and logged, you'll see a box that says "Claim your blog." Technorati offers a few different ways to verify that the blog you're claiming is, in fact, yours. It just wouldn't do to have people claiming other people's blogs!

When to Start a New Blog

I was reading a post over on the A4U Forum today about when the best time to launch a new site is. Perhaps the immediate answer that comes to mind is "when it's ready" but I don't think it's that simple.

Obviously, you want the search engines to index your site as quickly as possible but you also don't want people visiting and being put off by incomplete content before it's ready. Plus you don't want to upload a site with a load of dead end links.

This is why I always try an adopt a "stages stratergy" when I'm uploading new sites. What I mean by this is that I'll always split parts of the site up so that they can be published independantly of other sections, as this way you can get some inbound links and keep adding more content gradually.

Let People Rate Your Blog - Blograte

I came across Blogarate the other day, which is a cool widget that lets readers give your blog posts a star rating out of 5. It isn’t just a rating system though, it also sends blog posts back to the Blogarate website, along with the post star rating, and displays it Digg style.

Obivously, it's advantage over sites like Digg is that you're actually giving a post or article a rating, which could be good or bad, as opposed to just voting for decent posts, which is much more useful for the author.

Although this is a pretty good widget, I think it's more suited to business or news type blogs than personal blogs. I reckon it would be especially good for content or article sites/blogs that are using wordpress as a cms, as it's a good way to get feedback on your content from your users and probably get some extra traffic from the Blogarate site too.
