If you aren’t yet familiar with Tweetfeed, you will be before long. It is one of the hot, new twitter applications that allows people to create customized search term feeds and track those terms in real time. Users can generate feeds based on exact phrases, either or phrases, based on specific dates, sent to or from specific people, or many other options. Tweetfeed is also a “Share This” enabled service. This enables users to use custom CSS presentations and web analytics.

So, how can Tweetfeed benefit you and your blog? The primary use for Tweetfeed right now is for tracking terms used in Twitter like a person’s or product’s name. This makes it very easy for you to keep up with your online reputation and that of the products you might be promoting on your blog. The tracking feature can also help you stay on top of a current topic or industry news. When you see the same user Tweeting about the same topic that you are interested in, you might want to follow that particular user going forward.

They have also made sharing content extremely easy with Tweetfeed. The “Share This” feature publishes a feed link with your account name and feed name with practically no effort. The service is still in Beta, so I imagine that the features will only continue to get better. The website was recently acquired by the great people at BlogCatalog which make the prospects for Tweetfeed even more exciting in my mind.

Create Your Own Blog Link Exchange With LinkEX

We all know and understand the importance of building backlinks to our blogs, but most of us also understand how difficult that can be to accomplish. We have reviewed several services and programs here at Blogger Tips in the past that helped bloggers gain backlinks. Free Ebay Plugin For Your Wordpress Blog

There is a new and free Wordpress plugin that will allow you to easily insert Ebay listings into your Wordpress blog posts. The plugin is created by Affomatic and is being offered completely free. The Affomatic Ebay Plugin will allow you to automatically create ebay listings in your posts based on a keyword that you choose. You just have to insert your Ebay affiliate ID and you will get any commissions from your referrals. This makes it about as easy as possible to increase your Ebay affiliate sales. The plugin also allows you to:

Choose which country to show Ebay listings from
Choose all categories or narrow the listings down to a single category
Limit the number of Ebay listings shown
Change the way the Ebay listings are ordered (ie. highest price to lowest)

Mind Your Blog’s Images

With the blogging platforms today, adding images to improve the look and feel of your blog has never been easier. As more and more images are being used in blog posts, it is very important to consider how the search engines will view your images and the effect that can have on your blog.

The biggest problem for a webmaster is when an image results in his or her blog being placed outside of Google’s safe search filter. This can occur, even if everything else in your blog is completely family friendly. There are a few precautions that you can take to help ensure that you don’t fall victim to this problem.

Be careful when naming your image files. Never use any name though could sound like the image may be adult in nature or oriented toward gambling or non-family friendly topics.
Use descriptive alt text for your images. Don’t just list keywords, but actually provide a very concise description of the image.
Keep others from hotlinking your images. This can be done with a quick setting change within your host’s cpanel. If a search engine finds a couple of adult sites hotlinking to your website, it can result in your images (and blog) being filtered by safe search.

The key is to just keep in mind how an image that you use would be viewed by a search bot. If there is any chance that the bot could get the wrong idea, play it safe and use a different name or alt text. Being proactive with your blog’s images can prevent many headaches down the road.

The New One Way Links Networks

Jonathan Leger recently launched a new link-building service called 1.Way.Links. The service is designed for bloggers and can help you build hundreds of quality backlinks to your blog. Unlike the Linkvana service, 1 Way Links is a network of bloggers that each provide links to each other. This makes for more of a community effort than Linkvana, which has hundreds of its own blogs that are used to provide links to your site.

So, how does 1 Way Links work? After you sign up for an account with the service, you are able to add your Wordpress blogs to your account. Given the goal of the service, free Wordpress.com hosted blogs are not allowed in the network since they provide no IP diversity. The service uses Wordpress’ XMLRPC capabilities to automatically allow the 1 Way Links server to randomly add blog posts to any blog in the network on a randomized basis.

Once your blog is included in the network, you are given 250 “post credits” each month that allow you to submit your own blog posts to be published on other members’ blogs. Each post is allowed up to 3 links, so technically you can gain 750 total backlinks each month.

Overall, this is a good product for bloggers looking to build links in a steady, but quick manner. I don’t think the links you will get are near the quality of those provided by Linkvana, but at 1/3 the price 1 Way Links seems like a pretty good value.
