The fire damage the palace endured from back in July of last year was just far to severe for salvation to be financial worth while, and now, after the better part of a year, the building will be taken down.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;o:p&gt; &lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;Crews have been working on the asbestos removal, and the city of &lt;st1:city st="on"&gt;&lt;st1:place st="on"&gt;Courtenay&lt;/st1:place&gt;&lt;/st1:city&gt; has received an application this week for a street closure on April 13. So far the application has not been approved, but it is looking like the 69 year old theatre may be gone in just over a week.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;o:p&gt; &lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;The Palace Theatre built back in 1939 by EW Bickle opened its doors in 1940.
