Avatar is a 2009 American[5][6] epic science fiction film written and directed by James Cameron and starring Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Joel David Moore, and Michelle Rodriguez. The film is set in 2154, when humans are mining a precious mineral called unobtanium on Pandora, a lush moon of a gas giant in the Alpha Centauri star system.[7][8][9] The expansion of the mining colony threatens the continued existence of a local tribe of Na'vi—a humanoid species indigenous to Pandora. The film's title refers to the genetically engineered Na'vi-human hybrid bodies used by a team of researchers to interact with the natives of Pandora.[10]

Development on Avatar began in 1994, when Cameron wrote an 80-page scriptment for the film.[11] Filming was supposed to take place after the completion of Cameron's 1997 film Titanic, for a planned release in 1999,[12] but according to Cameron, the necessary technology was not yet available to achieve his vision of the film.[13] Work on the language for the film's extraterrestrial beings began in summer 2005, and Cameron began developing the screenplay and fictional universe in early 2006.[14][15]

Avatar was officially budgeted at $237 million.[2] Other estimates put the cost between $280 million and $310 million for production and at $150 million for promotion.[16][17][18] The film was released for traditional 2-D viewing, 3-D viewing (using the RealD 3D, Dolby 3D, XpanD 3D, and IMAX 3D formats), and "4-D" viewing.[19] The stereoscopic filmmaking was touted as a breakthrough in cinematic technology.[20]

Avatar premiered in London on December 10, 2009, and was released overseas on December 16 and in the United States and Canada on December 18, to critical acclaim and commercial success.[21][22][23] The film broke several box office records during its release and became the highest-grossing film of all time in the U.S. and Canada[24] and also worldwide, surpassing Titanic, which had held the records for the previous 12 years.[25] It also became the first film to gross more than $2 billion.[26] Following the film's success, Cameron stated that there will be at least two sequels.[27] Avatar was nominated for nine Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director,[28] and won three, for Best Cinematography, Best Visual Effects, and Best Art Direction.

New Moon (marketed as The Twilight Saga: New Moon) is an upcoming 2009 United States romantic/fantasy film scheduled for release on November 20, 2009. It is based on the novel of the same name by Stephenie Meyer and is the sequel to 2008's Twilight, which is based on Meyer's previous novel. Directed by Chris Weitz, the film will star Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner, reprising their roles as Bella Swan, Edward Cullen, and Jacob Black, respectively. Melissa Rosenberg returns as the screenwriter for the film. She handed in a draft of the film script during the opening weekend of Twilight. Summit Entertainment greenlit the sequel in late November 2008, following the early success of Twilight.

When asked about the sequel, Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke stated, "It's got werewolves, it's got visual effects that turn people into werewolves, it's got motorcycle stunts, you go to Italy. It's probably twice as much as this [to film]."

On December 13, 2008, Summit Entertainment released a synopsis of New Moon, which states: "Bella Swan is devastated by the abrupt departure of her vampire love, Edward Cullen, but her spirit is rekindled by her growing friendship with the irresistible Jacob Black. Suddenly she finds herself drawn into the world of the werewolves, ancestral enemies of the vampires, and finds her loyalties tested."

Bride Wars is a 2009 American romantic comedy film directed by Gary Winick and written by Greg DePaul and June Raphael and Saturday Night Live's Casey Wilson.

The film stars Kate Hudson, Anne Hathaway, Candice Bergen, Bryan Greenberg, Chris Pratt, Steve Howey and Kristen Johnston.

Emma and Liv are best friends who have planned every detail of their weddings since they first witnessed a wedding at the Plaza Hotel. Therefore, they both have made it lifetime priority to be married in the same location.

The movie begins with the two women getting engaged at the shared age of 26. They then schedule their weddings with New York's most famous wedding planner, but due to a clerical error they're scheduled to have a wedding on the same day, June 6. A week of passive aggressive hostility passes before the two women make it clear that neither will compromise, especially after Liv tries to take advantage of Emma's passive nature and outrages Emma in the process. During this time Emma's fiance, Fletcher, begins to show signs of being controlling.

The women both attempt to sabotage the other's wedding, including Liv making Emma's tan turn bright orange, Emma tampering with Liv's hair dye to make it turn Liv's hair blue-white, Emma showing up to Liv's bachelorette party to out-dance her, and Emma secretly sending Liv chocolate and lollipops to make her not fit into her dress. After the latter event Emma and her fiance get into an argument regarding Emma's manic behavior of sabotaging Liv's wedding and their friendship.

Both brides-to-be are then shown to be in the Plaza very shortly before they're due to be wed, separately. Right before Liv leaves to begin her march to the altar, she encounters Emma's father and receives his blessing; she regrets setting up a wild spring break CD to play at Emma's wedding. She sends her best man to replace the wrong CD with the right one, filled with childhood memories, but he does not do so, dropping the CD into a flowerplant and muttering, "You'll thank me some day."

Emma begins her walk down the aisle with the best man but stops when the footage of her spring break is shown. She loses her temper completely and tackles Liv after sprinting to the other section of the plaza. The two brides wrestle in their dresses on the floor while the rest of the room looks on, the people closest to the brides having decided it would be best to let the brides resolve the problem. After tussling Emma and Liv lay on the ground panting, and then make up almost instantly. Emma stands up and walks over to Fletcher who is upset at Emma's behavior. Emma tells Fletcher she is not the person he fell in love with and she is unwilling to change to stay with him. Liv's wedding resumes with Emma happily participating and, eventually, dancing with Nate, Liv's brother.

The movie picks up a year later when Emma and Liv meet up for "drinks", during which it's revealed that Emma married Nate. Emma and Liv also reveal to each other that they're pregnant and that their due dates are the same, March 3.

17 Again is a 2009 comedy film from New Line Cinema starring Zac Efron, Matthew Perry, Leslie Mann, Thomas Lennon, Michelle Trachtenberg, and Sterling Knight, and directed by Burr Steers. The movie was released into the United States on April 17, 2009. It is scheduled for DVD and Blu-ray release on Aug 11, 2009.

In 1989, Mike O'Donnell (Zac Efron) was a star athlete with a full college scholarship imminent. He seemingly had it all, when, right before the championship game, his girlfriend Scarlet (Allison Miller) informed him she was pregnant. In that moment, he made the decision to throw everything away (including basketball and a chance at a scholarship) and proposed to her.

Twenty years later, Mike's (Matthew Perry) life has come to a standstill. Scarlet (Leslie Mann) has separated from him, forcing him to move in with his geeky, but millionaire, best friend Ned Gold (Thomas Lennon), his job is going nowhere, and his kids Maggie (Michelle Trachtenberg) and Alex (Sterling Knight) want nothing to do with him. While paying a visit to Hayden High School to reminisce about the life he threw away, he encounters the mysterious janitor (Brian Doyle-Murray). On the way home, is magically transformed back into his 17-year old self.

With Ned posing as his father, he re-enrolls in high school, believing he has been given the chance to live his life over again, "but to do it right". However, he then discovers that his daughter is dating the basketball captain Stan (Hunter Parrish), who is bullying his son. He realizes that his real mission is to help his children and makes friends with Alex. With Mike's (using the name "Mark Gold") help, Alex gets a place on the basketball team and the girlfriend he desires. Mike also comforts Maggie when she is dumped by Stan, who was pressuring her for sex. Meanwhile, he assists Scarlet in decorating her garden, gaining a new appreciation for her.

Meanwhile, Ned is smitten with the high school principal, Jane Masterson (Melora Hardin). Although his initial attempts to 'peacock' her fail, they soon bond over a love of Lord of the Rings. However, when taking her back to his house, they discover an out-of-control party raging there. To celebrate Alex scoring the winning basket in a game, "Mark" is throwing a victory party. When Scarlet appears looking for Alex, Mike's feelings for her are reawakened, and he goes to kiss her. She is appalled, and slaps him. His action is witnessed by Maggie and her friends, who are all disgusted, especially since Maggie became smitten with "Mark".

The next morning, Ned reminds Mike that it is the date of his divorce hearing with Scarlet. He shows up as Mark to read a letter from Mike O'Donnell, the contents of which touches her. However, upon seeing the "letter" (which is really just a piece of paper with directions on it), she realizes that Mark had been reciting from memory. Later, at the championship game, Mike makes a gesture which she recognizes as his. Realizing that she is in the same situation as twenty years earlier, she flees the scene. Mike follows, handing the ball to Alex, who goes on to make the winning shot. The janitor catches sight of Mike and changes him back into his adult self, and Mike and Scarlet reunite.

In the end, Mike is happily reconciled with his family, now the coach of the high school basketball team. Ned, too, is happy, having mended his relationship with Principal Masterson. The end credits are shown, with high school photos of the who worked on this film, including the cast.

He's Just Not That Into You is a 2009 American romantic comedy film, based on the self-help book of the same name by Greg Behrendt and Liz Tuccillo, which in turn was based on a line of dialogue in Sex and the City. The film features an ensemble cast that includes Ben Affleck, Jennifer Aniston, Drew Barrymore, Scarlett Johansson, Justin Long, Jennifer Connelly, Ginnifer Goodwin, Kevin Connolly, and Bradley Cooper. He's Just Not That Into You was directed by Ken Kwapis, and produced by Drew Barrymore's production company, Flower Films, with Barrymore serving as an executive producer.

The plot chronicles the romantic misadventures of nine individuals in their twenties and thirties. Set in Baltimore, the common thread of the story is that one person in each relationship is more enamored of the other person than vice versa. At the core of these multiple stories is Gigi (Ginnifer Goodwin), a young woman who repeatedly misinterprets the signs that men give her about their level of interest in her.

Coraline is a 2009 American animated stop-motion 3-D sci-fi fantasy film based on Neil Gaiman's 2002 novel Coraline. It was produced by LAIKA and distributed by Focus Features. Written and Directed by Henry Selick, it was released widely in US theaters on February 6, 2009, after a world premiere at the Portland International Film Festival.

The film made $16.85 million during opening weekend, ranking third at the box office.[4] As of June 2009, the film has grossed over $104 million worldwide.

In a prologue-esque scene, a strange set of metallic hands are seen creating a doll with blue hair, a raincoat, and freckles. They then toss the doll through a window, where it floats off into darkness.

Coraline Jones moves into the Pink Palace apartments, which she immediately labels as boring and lifeless. She makes attempts to have fun and talk with her mother and father, but due to their tremendous workload they constantly neglect and ignore her. During her walks outside, however, Coraline finds a new (unwanted) friend, Wybie, who is trailed by a seemingly-feral black cat. Later, while "exploring" her apartment, Coraline comes upon a small, locked door covered with wallpaper. Her mother frustratedly grabs a unique-looking key from the key drawer, only to find after opening it that the tunnel/corridor beyond is sealed with bricks.

That night Coraline is woken by a strange sound. She spots a mouse spying on her, and chases it downstairs, only to see it slip through the small door. She follows, and finds that the bricks are gone, replaced with an eerie blue tunnel. She crawls through it, to find an exact replica of her apartment. When she walks into the Other kitchen, she finds a prettier duplicate of her mother whose eyes have been replaced with black buttons. She claims to be Coraline's "Other Mother" and Coraline finds her to be much kinder and attentive then her real counterpart. Within the Other World she also meets her Other Father, who as well as being creative (such as creating an assist that controls his movements, allowing him to "play" the piano) is also much more fun and handsome than her real father. After enjoying a roast-chicken dinner with her Other parents, Coraline goes to sleep in her other room (which is of course better than her real one). She wakes to find herself back in the real world, with the door bricked up once again.

Over the next few days, Coraline visits the Other world, simultaneously becoming more and more bored with reality. The black cat is revealed to be intelligent and able to talk while in the Other world. Though he warns her of impending danger, Coraline ignores him. After going to a circus and a theater with the Other Wybie (a Wybie that can't talk, which pleases Coraline very much) hosted by her Other Neighbours, the Other Parents make Coraline an offer. They say that she can stay in the Other World, forever and always, if only she allows them to sew buttons in her eyes. Terrified, Coraline excuses herself from dinner, locking herself in her bedroom and desperately going to sleep.

She wakes up to find that this time she has remained in the Other World, trapped there indefinitely. She ventures into the rest of the house, to find that it has become noticeably gloomier. She attempts to confront the now messy and grim Other Father, but the results are rather disappointing. The mechanical hand-controlling gloves that make up the piano assist scold the Other Father for talking without the Other Mother around. When he gives her too much information, they turn on him and attack, prompting a horrified Coraline to run away. After observing the rest of the Other world, she meets up with the black cat, who shows her that the Pink Palace apartments and its surroundings are the only thing in the Other world, with anything outside that a complete blank. She then leaves the cat to confront the Other Mother.

Coraline walks inside and makes a break for the door, only to be surprised by the Mother. When Coraline demands to go home, the Other Mother changes dramatically, growing tall, thin and sinister. She drags Coraline through the house and traps her behind a magic mirror, leaving her until she "learns to be a loving daughter". Coraline then meets three ghosts, who were also the newfound children of the one they call the "Beldam." They reveal that long ago they allowed the seemingly caring Other Mother to sew the buttons in their eyes, only for her to grow bored with them and seal them away for eternity. They beg Coraline to find their real eyes, so they may leave for the afterlife, but the frightened girl is pulled from the mirror before she can answer. The Other Wybie, who released her, reveals that the Beldam used her needle and thread (seen in the prologue) to make him smile permanently, after he tried to alert Coraline to the Other Mother's intentions. The Beldam hears them, and after a chase through the house, the Other Wybie sacrifices himself to get Coraline safely through the door back to reality.

Unfortunately, Coraline finds that the Other Mother has stolen her real parents, forcing her to return to the counterfeit world. Using the cat's advice, she challenges the Beldam to a game, which the witch has a taste for; Coraline resolves to find all the Ghost Children's eyes and her real parents. She ventures into the garden, and using a candy-shaped trinket given to her by her elderly neighbours, spots a ghost eye. But she finds that it is connected to a giant steel grasshopper mech, which, using the piano-assist, is forcing the Other Father to kill Coraline. But the wretched, tortured, and still-kind man breaks the piano assist, allowing him to give Coraline the eye. After the Other Father is obliterated by the grasshopper's actions, Coraline explores the theater and the circus, grabbing the other eyes just in time. The Other world is destroyed, and Coraline finds the Other Mother now transformed into a hideous, skeletal spider creature. She tricks the thing into opening the door, promptly hurling the black cat at her afterward. The cat tears out the Beldam's button eyes, and just as Coraline is making a clean getaway through the portal, the Other Mother tears apart the shattered remnants of the fake world, turning it into a massive spiderweb.

But Coraline evades the creature's attempts to grab her, rushing through the door. As she attempts to lock it, though, the Other Mother pulls on the door, reaching through the gap and towards Coraline with her spare hand (which can be recognised from the prologue as the metallic, long-fingered body part). But the rescued souls of the ghost children help her, and the door slams shut, severing the Beldam's hand. Leaving behind the incoherent screams of the Other Mother, Coraline rushes into the arms of her real (and seemingly more loving than before) parents. After dreaming of the released ghost kids, the happy spirits warn her to destroy the key, to seal it away where no one can ever find it again. Coraline wakes, and sets off for the abandoned well near her home, the place which she deems right.

In a final, desperate attempt, the Beldam sends her reanimated hand through the cracks in the door, which instantly attacks Coraline. But Wybie suddenly turns up at the last moment, risking his life to smash the hand. Together, Coraline and Wybie toss the hand fragments and the key deep into the well, ridding the world of the Other Mother forever. The following day Coraline hosts a garden party, with all her neighbours invited. The camera zooms out, revealing the garden to be in the shape of the insane Beldam.

Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, also known as Ice Age 3, is a 2009 3-D computer animated film. It is the third installment of the Ice Age series. It was announced and approved by Fox president Hutch Parker on January 30, 2007. It was initially slated for a December 12, 2008 release, but the scheduled release date was moved to July 1, 2009.[why?] A sneak preview was shown in selected theaters on Father's Day in the United States. The film was produced by Blue Sky Studios and features the voices of Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Denis Leary, Queen Latifah, Seann William Scott, Josh Peck, Simon Pegg, and Chris Wedge, and the film is distributed by 20th Century Fox.

The film was released in RealD where available. The release gained some controversy when Fox announced that it would no longer pay to supply 3D glasses to theaters, which led a threat from a number of exhibitors to only show the film in standard 2D projection. The film's original trailer debuted with the film Horton Hears a Who! on March 14, 2008. There are three others that have been released, with the third and fourth (which shows Buck) being the most closely resembling each other. Queen Latifah recorded a cover of the song "Walk the Dinosaur".

Ellie (Queen Latifah) and Manny (Ray Romano) are expecting their first child, and Manny is obsessed with making life perfect and safe for the family. At the same time, Diego (Denis Leary) finds himself unable to catch a gazelle he has been stalking and decides to leave the herd, believing that he is losing his predatory nature as a tiger. Sid (John Leguizamo) grows jealous of Manny and Ellie and “adopts” three apparently abandoned eggs that he finds in an icy underground cavern. Manny tells him to put them back, but Sid instead looks after the eggs, which hatch into baby Tyrannosaurus ' the next morning.

Although Sid tries his best to raise the three dinosaurs, their rambunctious behavior scares away all the other animals’ young and ruins a playground Manny built for Ellie’s baby. A female Tyrannosaurus, Momma, whose eggs Sid stole, soon returns and carries both Sid and her youth underground, with Diego in pursuit. Manny, Ellie, Crash, and Eddie (Seann William Scott, Josh Peck) follow as well and discover that the icy cavern leads to a vast jungle populated by dinosaurs thought to be extinct. Here, an Ankylosaurus threatens the herd despite Diego’s efforts to fend it off; they are saved from a further crowd of angry reptiles by a one-eyed, slightly crazed weasel named Buckminster, or Buck (Simon Pegg).

Buck has been living in this jungle for some time and is chasing Rudy (a huge white Baryonyx), intending to avenge the eye he lost to it. He agrees to lead the herd through the jungle’s perils to Lava Falls, where Momma has taken Sid and her babies. In the meantime, Sid and Momma try to outdo each other in feeding the offspring; he loses this contest, but is soon welcomed into the family regardless. The next day, however, Sid is separated from the family and attacked by Rudy. Sid is knocked onto a loose rock slab that is floating on a river of lava and about to plummet over the falls.

As the herd moves toward Lava Falls, Ellie goes into labor and a Guanlong pack strikes, causing a rock slide that separates her from Manny and Diego. Manny doubles back to protect her and Diego fends off further attacks, while Buck takes Crash and Eddie ahead to rescue Sid. Just as the sloth goes over the falls, the trio swoops in on a commandeered Pteranodon and saves his life. Manny reaches Ellie, and there is suddenly a reaction, the cry of a newborn baby, then he sees that it is a girl. He wants to name her Ellie, or Little Ellie, but Ellie instead names her Peaches after the fruit (the codeword they had chosen for Ellie to use if she went into labor during the trip). Sid is saddened at the fact that he never had a chance to say goodbye to "his" children as he returns to the herd and learns of Peaches' birth.

Before they can exit the jungle, Rudy attacks at full force; Buck helps the others ensnare him briefly, but he escapes and resumes his onslaught. The herd is saved by the timely arrival of Momma, who charges at Rudy and knocks him off a cliff. As she and her children wish Sid well, Buck – now without a purpose in life since Rudy is gone – decides to join the herd and live on the surface. However, a distant roar tells him that Rudy is still alive; he changes his mind and sends the herd home, blocking off the path to the underground jungle at the same time so that no one else can go down there. Manny and Ellie welcome Peaches into their frozen world and admit that Sid did a good job looking after Momma's children (though Manny tells Diego that he will never let Sid babysit Peaches). Diego decides to remain with the herd, while Buck stays where he wants to be: underground, battling it out with Rudy.

Peter Klaven (Paul Rudd), a big-time real estate salesman, just got engaged to Zooey Rice (Rashida Jones), a stunning girl who co-owns a boutique called ZHD with best friends Hailey (Sarah Burns) and Denise (Jaime Pressly). Zooey is ecstatic about the engagement and calls her friends to tell them about it, but Peter does not seem to have anyone special he’d like to share the good news with. At Peter's parents’ (J.K. Simmons and Jane Curtin) house, it comes out that Peter is actually a "girlfriend guy," and his guy friends when he was growing up "fell by the wayside." After overhearing Zooey's friends tell her that they are concerned Peter does not have any friends, Peter realizes he needs to find some male friends in order to have a best man for his wedding. Peter seeks the advice of his younger, gay brother Robbie (Andy Samberg) on how to meet platonic guy friends and how to take them on man-dates.

Peter's first attempt is to hang out with Barry (Jon Favreau), Denise's husband, for poker night with the guys. It ends horribly when, after chugging too many beers, Peter projectile vomits all over Barry. Robbie then sends Peter out with a guy from his gym for a soccer game. That does not last long, since the man angers fans at the game and has a very high-pitched voice. Peter's mother tries next by sending him to dinner with a man named Doug Evans (Thomas Lennon) who just moved to L.A. Against Robbie's advice, Peter goes to dinner with Doug, and it ends awkwardly with a deep tongue kiss, revealing Doug's homosexuality. Peter seeks man-dates online and finds Mel, who represented himself as a young man on his online profile, but is actually an old man.

With all these failed attempts, Peter decides to give up, but during an open house at Lou Ferrigno's, he meets Sydney Fife (Jason Segel). They instantly hit it off when Sydney gives a play-by-play of a potential buyer farting. Because of Sydney's honesty, the two men exchange business cards. When Peter calls Sydney he leaves a very embarrassing voice mail, but when Sydney calls him back they decide to go out for drinks.

After a nice night, they hang out again for lunch and afterward Sydney shows Peter the "man cave," a space in his garage where he keeps a big-screen TV and his collection of rock instruments and Rush paraphernalia. They start playing musical instruments together and hanging out a lot more. Peter finally introduces Sydney to Zooey at their engagement party. At first, it goes well. Zooey thinks Sydney might hit it off with her perpetually single friend Hailey. But her opinion of him sours when Sydney makes a very awkward speech hinting that Zooey needs to give Peter more oral sex.

Peter convinces Sydney to go golfing with the girls and it ends with Hailey storming off the green. Right after that, when Peter is supposed to be watching HBO Sunday programming with Zooey, Sydney calls and talks Peter into going to see Rush instead. At the concert Zooey feels ignored while Peter and Sydney are really enjoying the concert. During tuxedo shopping, Sydney asks Peter why he is marrying Zooey and asks Peter for an eight-thousand dollar loan. Doug coincidentally shows up and confronts Peter, calling him a whore because he thinks he is with Sydney. Peter finally comes clean to Sydney telling him that he was searching for friends before meeting him and that he will loan him the money.

Zooey is no longer psyched about Sydney being the best man, especially after Sydney gets in a fight with Lou Ferrigno, possibly causing Peter to lose exclusive sales rights to Lou's house. Peter tells Zooey that he lent Sydney money and asks her if she knows why they are getting married. Zooey is angry and leaves to stay at Denise's house.

When Peter leaves for work that next morning he sees several billboards that Sydney put up using the loan. When he confronts Sydney, he decides to end their relationship as friends because of the conflict. After he patches things up with Zooey, explaining to her that he is nervous but ready to get married, Peter discovers that the ads worked; he starts receiving more clients including an apologetic Doug and offers on the Ferrigno house.

While Peter feels bad about confronting Sydney now that the Ferrigno house is sold, he doesn't re-invite Sydney to the wedding. Before the wedding, Zooey sees Peter upset about the loss of Sydney, so she calls and invites Sydney (who is already on his way) to the wedding. Just before the vows are to be taken, Sydney makes a dramatic entrance, they explain their platonic love for each other, and Sydney assumes the role of best man.

Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian (known outside of North America as Night at the Museum 2), is a 2009 American comedy film and the sequel to the 2006 adventure comedy film Night at the Museum. The film stars Ben Stiller, Amy Adams, Owen Wilson, Hank Azaria, Christopher Guest, Alain Chabat, Steve Coogan, Ricky Gervais, Bill Hader, Jon Bernthal, Patrick Gallagher, Jake Cherry, Rami Malek, Mizuo Peck, and Robin Williams. It was released in theaters on May 22, 2009.

Two years after Larry Daley (Ben Stiller) defeated the three night guards plotting to steal The Tablet, he is now head of Daley Devices, a company that he founded to manufacture his inventions. These inventions, including the Glow-in-the-Dark Flashlight, the Unloseable Keyring, and the Oversized Dogbone, were created from his experiences as a former night guard. Upon revisiting, he finds that the American Museum of Natural History is closed for upgrades and renovations, and some of the museum pieces are being replaced by interactive holograms due to budget costs. The actual exhibits are due to be moved to the Federal Archives at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington DC. On the last night, Larry reconnects with his museum exhibit friends including Theodore Roosevelt (Robin Williams), Rexy the Tyrannosaurus Skeleton, and Dexter the Capuchin Monkey (Crystal the Monkey) and finds out that several exhibits, including Theodore, Rexy, The Easter Island Head (Brad Garrett), and good Pharaoh Ahkmenrah (Rami Malek) and his Tablet are not moving to the Smithsonian Institution - without the Tablet of Ahkmenrah, the other exhibits will no longer be animated, something which Teddy has not told them so they can enjoy their last night. The next night, Larry gets a call from Jedediah (Owen Wilson), saying that Dexter stole the tablet last midnight and evil Pharaoh Kahmunrah (Hank Azaria), Ahkmenrah's older brother, is attacking them. Larry goes to Washington and visits the National Air and Space Museum, the National Gallery of Art and the Smithsonian Castle to find the Federal Archives with the help of his son Nick Daley (Jake Cherry).

Larry sneaks into the archives and locates the exhibits, frozen in the middle of a battle with Kahmunrah and his troops, who are trying to lock the exhibits in a crate. Larry gets hold of the Tablet of Ahkmenrah, which had been stolen by Dexter, just when the sun sets and all the exhibits come alive again. Kahmunrah and his troops lock the crate and take the Tablet from Larry, and he tells Larry that bringing the exhibits to life is just one of the tablet's powers - he intends to use it to raise an army from the underworld and conquer the world. Larry escapes with the help of General George Armstrong Custer (Bill Hader), who gets captured, and meets the spunky Amelia Earhart (Amy Adams), who is thrilled at the prospect of adventure and accompanies Larry. Larry and Amelia then go through an assortment of paintings and trap Kahmunrah's men in one. Meanwhile, Kahmunrah is able to recruit Evil Russian Czar Ivan The Terrible (Christopher Guest}, Evil French General Napoleon Bonaparte (Alain Chabat), and Evil Black And White 1920/30s American Gangster/Mobster/Gang Leader Al Capone (Jon Bernthal) to help him capture Larry in return for sharing the world with him when he conquers it. Custer is locked up with the other exhibits from the American Museum of Natural History, and while he conceives a poor plan of attack (he will scream "Attack!" and the exhibits will jump out and attack), Jedediah and Octavius (Steve Coogan) sneak out to help Larry.

They are found out by one of Al Capone's henchmen, and Jedediah tells Octavius to run away while he distracts them, which leads him to get captured and placed in a bird cage. (Kahmunrah thinks he's adorable) Octavius sees this and vows to get reinforcements and save him.

Larry and Amelia are captured by Napoleon and taken to Kahmunrah. Kahmunrah then attempts to activate the tablet to open the gates of the underworld by pressing the symbols on the tablet, only to find out that the combination has been changed. He orders Larry to decipher the tablet's riddle and figure out the new combination before sunrise, and traps Jedediah in an hourglass to hasten his attempts. Larry and Amelia consult a bust of Teddy who says that the answer is in the heart of the pharaoh's tomb. The duo then consult The Thinker, but he gets distracted by a beautiful statue of Aphrodite. Finally, at the National Air and Space Museum, they consult a group of Albert Einstein bobbleheads who tell them that the answer to the riddle (and hence the new combination) is pi (they mean, treat the tablet like a phone number order and activate the combination). Larry and Amelia fly the Wright Flyer to the Lincoln Memorial for a short while, return to the Smithsonian Castle, and Amelia goes for help while Larry delays Kahmunrah. Capone, Napoleon and Ivan arrive and tell him the code (having intimidated one of the Einstein bobbleheads into revealing it to them), and he opens the gates of the underworld and summons an army of bird-men. Suddenly, the statue of Abraham Lincoln from the Lincoln Memorial bursts through the window, frightening the bird-men back to the underworld. Amelia arrives, having freed the other exhibits, and Custer orders them to attack (by saying "We will NOT attack!"). During this battle, Octavius frees Jedediah, who is now covered in sand to the head, by smashing the glass with his helmet. They then attack one of Al Capone's henchmen by hitting his shoe with swords alá 300. Larry then duels Kahmunrah with his flashlight, defeating him and then pushing him through the gate, which banishes him to the underworld forever.

Amelia flies Larry and the other exhibits back to the American Museum of Natural History, where Teddy welcomes him back, and Larry assures him he has a way for them to remain there. Larry and Amelia say goodbye and kiss before Amelia flies away, leaving Larry outside the museum. Some time later, it is revealed that Larry generously sold his company and donated the money to the museum to pay for Audio-Animatronics exhibits - since the museum now opens late, the exhibits can come to life under the guise of animatronically animated exhibits, including Teddy as a tour guide, Ahkmenrah and Dexter displaying the Tablet, and Attila as a storyteller. Larry is rehired at the museum as the night guard so as to watch over the rest of his friends, and meets a young woman who looks just like Amelia. The film concludes as they talk and walk off as Larry guides her toward the hall of miniatures. Jedediah then flies by in a miniature airplane. During the credits, a man from a black and white photo of V-J day in Times Square is seen examining Larry's Blackberry cell phone, which Larry left in the photo, and makes a new discovery (for his time period). His mother calls him, and it is revealed that his name is Joey Motorola.

Public Enemies is a 2009 American crime film directed by Michael Mann. Set during the Great Depression, it focuses on the true story of FBI agent Melvin Purvis's attempt to stop criminals John Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson, and Pretty Boy Floyd. The film is an adaptation of Bryan Burrough's non-fiction book Public Enemies: America's Greatest Crime Wave and the Birth of the FBI, 1933–34. Christian Bale plays FBI agent Purvis, Johnny Depp plays Dillinger, Marion Cotillard plays Dillinger's girlfriend Billie Frechette, Channing Tatum plays Floyd and Giovanni Ribisi plays Alvin Karpis.

The film opens in 1933 as John Dillinger (Johnny Depp) is brought to the Indiana State Prison by his partner John "Red" Hamilton (Jason Clarke), under the disguise of a prisoner drop. Dillinger and Hamilton overpower several guards and free members of their gang including Charles Makley (Christian Stolte) and Harry Pierpont (David Wenham). The jailbreak goes off without a hitch, until gang member Ed Shouse (Michael Vieau) beats a guard to death. A shootout ensues as the gang makes its getaway. Dillinger's friend and mentor Walter Dietrich (James Russo) is killed, and a furious Dillinger kicks Shouse out of the car. The rest of the gang retreats to a farm house hideout, where crooked Chicago cop Martin Zarkovich (John Michael Bolger) convinces them to hide out in Chicago, where they can be sheltered by the Mafia.

In East Liverpool, Ohio, Melvin Purvis (Christian Bale) and several other FBI agents are running down Pretty Boy Floyd (Channing Tatum). Purvis kills Floyd and is promoted by J. Edgar Hoover (Billy Crudup), who is struggling to expand his Bureau into a national police agency, to lead the hunt for John Dillinger, declaring the first national "War on Crime."

In between a series of bank robberies, Dillinger meets Billie Frechette (Marion Cotillard), his love interest, at a restaurant, and proceeds to woo her by buying her a fur coat. Frechette falls for Dillinger even after he tells her who he is, and the two quickly become inseperable.

Melvin Purvis leads a failed ambush at a hotel where he believes Dillinger is staying. An agent is shot and killed by the occupant. After the man escapes, Purvis realizes the killer wasn't Dillinger but Baby Face Nelson (Stephen Graham). After this incident, Purvis demands that Hoover bring in professional lawmen who know how to catch criminals dead or alive, including Texas "cowboy" Charles Winstead (Stephen Lang).

Police finally find Dillinger and arrest him and his gang in Tucson. Dillinger is extradited back to Indiana where he is locked up pending trial. Dillinger and a few inmates escape. Dillinger is unable to see Frechette, who is under tight surveillance. Dillinger learns that Frank Nitti's (Bill Camp) Chicago Outfit associates are now unwilling to help him; Dillinger's crimes are motivating the U.S. government to begin prosecuting interstate crime, which imperils Nitti's lucrative bookmaking racket.

Later, Dillinger meets fellow bank robber Tommy Carroll (Spencer Garrett) in a movie theater; with him is Ed Shouse, who wants to rejoin the gang. Carroll goads Dillinger into a bank robbery job in Sioux Falls, promising a huge score. Even though Baby Face Nelson is involved, whom he doesn't like, Dillinger agrees. A shootout (triggered by Nelson shooting a cop outside the bank) occurs in which Dillinger is shot in the arm, and Carroll is shot and left for dead. They retreat to Nelson's wilderness lodge hideout at Little Bohemia, where Dillinger's wounds are treated; the gang is disappointed to find that their haul is only a fraction of what they expected. Dillinger expresses hope he can free the rest of his gang still in prison, including Pierpont and Makley, but Red convinces him this is unlikely to happen.

Purvis and his men apprehend Carroll (who is still alive) and torture him to find the rest of the gang's location. They arrive at Little Bohemia and Purvis organizes another failed ambush, in which several civilians are killed in the cross-fire. Dillinger and Red escape separately from Nelson and the rest of the gang. Agents Winstead and Hurt (Don Frye) pursue Dillinger and Hamilton through the woods on foot, engaging them in a running gun battle in which Red is shot and fatally wounded. Trying to escape along the road, Nelson, Shouse and Homer Van Meter (Stephen Dorff) hijack an FBI car, killing several agents in the process, including Purvis's partner Carter Baum (Rory Cochran). After a car chase, Purvis and his men kill Nelson and the rest of the gang. Further down the road, Dillinger and Hamilton steal a farmer's car and make good their escape; Hamilton dies later that night and Dillinger buries his body, covering it in lye.

Dillinger manages to meet Frechette, telling her he plans to do one last job that will pay enough for them to escape together. However, Dillinger drops her off at a hotel he thinks is safe and helplessly watches as she is captured. An interrogator, Agent Reinecke (Adam Mucci) viciously beats Frechette to learn Dillinger's whereabouts, but she refuses to talk; Purvis and Winstead arrive and angrily break up the interrogation. Meanwhile, Dillinger is meeting with Alvin Karpis (Giovanni Ribisi), who tries to recruit a disinterested Dillinger in a train robbery with his associates, the Barker Gang. Dillinger receives a note from Billie through his lawyer, Louis Piquet (Peter Gerety), telling him not to try and break her out of jail.

Through crooked cop Zarkovich, Purvis enlists the help of madam and Dillinger acquaintance Anna Sage (Branka Katic), threatening her with deportation if she is not cooperative. She agrees to set up Dillinger, who is hiding with Sage.

That night Dillinger and Sage see a Clark Gable movie called Manhattan Melodrama at the Biograph Theater. When the movie is over, Dillinger and the women leave as Purvis move in. Dillinger spots the police and is shot several times before he can draw his gun. Agent Winstead, who fired the fatal shot, listens to Dillinger's last words.

Later, Winstead meets Frechette in prison. He tells her that Dillinger's dying words were "Tell Billie for me, 'Bye bye Blackbird.'" The closing text reveals that Melvin Purvis quit the FBI shortly afterwards and died by his own hand in 1960, and that Billie lived out of the rest of her life in Wisconsin following her release in 1936.

Watchmen is a 2009 superhero film directed by Zack Snyder. Based on the 1986–1987 comic book limited series Watchmen by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons, the film adaptation stars Malin Akerman, Billy Crudup, Matthew Goode, Carla Gugino, Jackie Earle Haley, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Patrick Wilson, Matt Frewer, Stephen McHattie, and Laura Mennell. Set in an alternate-history 1985, Watchmen follows a group of former vigilantes as tensions heighten between the United States and the Soviet Union while an investigation of an apparent conspiracy against them uncovers something even more grandiose and sinister. The film began shooting in Vancouver in September 2007. As with his previous film 300, Snyder closely modeled his storyboards on the comic, but he chose to not shoot all of Watchmen using chroma key and opted for more sets.

Following the series' publication, the film adaptation was mired in development hell. Producer Lawrence Gordon began developing the project at 20th Century Fox and Warner Bros. with producer Joel Silver and director Terry Gilliam, the latter eventually deeming the complex novel "unfilmable". During the 2000s, Gordon and Lloyd Levin collaborated with Universal Studios and Paramount Pictures to produce a script by David Hayter. Darren Aronofsky and Paul Greengrass were also attached to the project before it was canceled over budget disputes. The project returned to Warner Bros., where Snyder was hired to direct – Paramount remained as international distributor. Fox sued Warner Bros. for copyright violation arising from Gordon's failure to pay a buy-out in 1991, which enabled him to develop the film at the other studios. Fox and Warner Bros. settled this before the film's release with Fox receiving a portion of the gross.

Watchmen was released in both conventional and IMAX theaters on March 6, 2009, grossing $55 million on the opening weekend. It grossed over $180 million at the worldwide box office. Watchmen divided film critics; some critics gave it overwhelmingly positive reviews for the dark and unique take on the superhero genre, while others derided it for the same reason, as well as the R-rating, the running time, and the much-publicized accuracy to the graphic novel.

A DVD based on elements of the Watchmen universe was released, including an animated adaptation of the comic Tales of the Black Freighter within the story, starring Gerard Butler, and the documentary Under the Hood, detailing the older generation of superheroes from the film's back-story. A director's cut and an extended edition of the film, with Tales of the Black Freighter interspersed through the main storyline in a manner reminiscent of the comic, is also forthcoming.

Terminator Salvation is a 2009 American science fiction film written by John Brancato and Michael Ferris and directed by McG. It is the fourth film in the Terminator series, and stars Christian Bale as future Resistance leader John Connor and Sam Worthington as cyborg Marcus Wright. The film also introduces a young Kyle Reese from the original 1984 film, played by Anton Yelchin, as well as depicting the origin of the T-800 Model 101 Terminator. Terminator Salvation, set in 2018, focuses on the war between humanity and Skynet - a departure from the previous installments, which were set on the present day and featured time travel.

After a troubled pre-production, with The Halcyon Company acquiring the rights for the franchise from Andrew G. Vajna and Mario Kassar and several writers working on the screenplay, filming began in May 2008 in New Mexico and ran for 77 days. The film is currently the most expensive independent production in history. Terminator Salvation was released on May 21, 2009 in the United States, followed by early June releases in the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa.

In 2003, Dr. Serena Kogan (Helena Bonham Carter) of Cyberdyne Systems convinces death row inmate Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington) to sign his body over for medical research following his execution by lethal injection. One year later, the Skynet system is activated, perceives humans as a threat to its own existence, and eradicates much of humanity in the event known as Judgment Day (see Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines). In 2018, John Connor (Christian Bale) leads an attack by the Resistance on a Skynet base. John discovers human prisoners and the plans for the development of a new type of Terminator incorporating living tissue, but is the only apparent survivor of the attack after the base is destroyed in a nuclear explosion. However, Marcus emerges from the wreckage of the base and proceeds on foot to Los Angeles.

John returns to Resistance headquarters located aboard a nuclear submarine and tells General Ashdown (Michael Ironside), the current leader, of his discovery. Meanwhile, the Resistance has discovered a radio frequency believed to be capable of shutting down Skynet machines. They plan to launch an offensive against the Skynet base in San Francisco in four days, in response to an intercepted "kill list" indicating that Skynet plans to kill the Resistance's command staff in four days' time. John learns that his own name is second on the list, following Kyle Reese. The Resistance leaders are unaware of Kyle's importance to Skynet, but John knows that it is because Kyle will later become his father (see The Terminator). John meets with his officer Barnes (Common) and wife Kate (Bryce Dallas Howard) and sends radio broadcasts to Resistance members and surviving civilians around the world.

Arriving in the ruins of Los Angeles, Marcus is saved from a T-600 Terminator by Kyle Reese (Anton Yelchin) and his mute companion Star (Jadagrace Berry). Kyle relates to Marcus the events of Judgment Day and the ensuing war between humans and machines. Hearing John's radio broadcast, the three leave Los Angeles in search of the Resistance. They survive an attack by machines, but Kyle, Star, and several other humans are taken prisoner, while a pair of Resistance A-10s are shot down. Marcus locates downed pilot Blair Williams (Moon Bloodgood) and they make their way to John's base, but Marcus is wounded by a magnetic land mine. Attempting to save his life, the Resistance fighters discover that he is in fact a cyborg with human organs, a mechanical endoskeleton, circuitry, and a partially artificial cerebral cortex. Marcus believes himself to be human, demanding to be released so that he can save Kyle from Skynet, but John believes that Marcus had come to kill him and orders his destruction. However, Blair releases him and helps him to escape from the base. During the resulting pursuit Marcus saves John's life from Skynet hydrobots, and the two form an alliance—Marcus will enter Skynet's headquarters and attempt to disable its defenses so that John can rescue Kyle.

John demands that Ashdown delay the attack so that he can rescue Kyle and the other prisoners, but Ashdown refuses and relieves John of his command. However, John's soldiers remain loyal to him and he sends a radio broadcast asking the other Resistance fighters not to attack Skynet. Meanwhile, Marcus enters the Skynet base and interfaces with the computer, disabling the perimeter defenses and allowing John to infiltrate the cell block and release the human prisoners. The Resistance's disabling signal is revealed to be a ruse, and the command submarine with the Resistance leaders aboard is destroyed by a Hunter-Killer.

Marcus discovers that he was created by Skynet and has unwittingly fulfilled his programmed mission to lure John into the base to be killed. He tears out the hardware linking him to Skynet and leaves to assist John in battling a T-800 model 101 Terminator. John is mortally wounded during the fight, but succeeds in destroying the Skynet base by rigging several Terminator hydrogen fuel cells to an explosive, detonating them as he, Marcus, Kyle, and Star are airlifted out. Kate attempts to save John's life, but his heart is too damaged. Marcus offers his heart for transplant, sacrificing himself to save John. Recovering, John radios to the other Resistance fighters that though this battle has been won, the war is far from over.

The plot connects with the original film of the series from which Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez, and Jordana Brewster reprise their roles. The film was directed by Justin Lin, who also directed the third installment of the series, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.

The movie opens up with Dominic Toretto hijacking fuel tankers in the Dominican Republic. After a heist, he believes that the trail is too hot and leaves his girlfriend Letty to go elsewhere. He is in Panama City when he gets a call from his sister Mia. She tells him that Letty has been murdered. Dom heads back to Los Angeles and examines the car crash that Letty was in and finds traces of nitromethane. Dom then goes to the only car mechanic that uses nitromethane and coerces him into giving him the name David Park, the man who ordered the fuel.

Meanwhile, FBI agent Brian O'Conner is trying to track down a drug dealer named Arturo Braga. His search leads him to David Park. Dom arrives at Park's apartment first and hangs him out of the window by his ankles before letting go. Brian, who also at that time was on his way to Park's house, saves Park and Park becomes the FBI's new informant. Park gets Brian into a street race through Los Angeles; the winner will become the last driver on a team that traffics heroin between the United States-Mexico border for Braga. Dom is also at the race. At the end, Dom and Brian are neck-and-neck, and Dom wins when he hits Brian's rear fender and causes him to spin out. Brian uses his power as an FBI agent to arrest another driver, Dwight Mueller, and takes his place on the team.

The day after, the team meets Fenix, one of Braga's men, and they drive across the border. After a tense stand-off, Dom blows up his car and Brian hijacks a Hummer with $60 million USD worth of heroin. Both Dom and Brian drive back to Los Angeles. They hide the heroin in a police impound lot. The next day, Brian tells his superiors that he can lure Braga into a trap, forcing him to personally show up to exchange money for the heroin, so that the police can arrest him. He says he will do this if they will pardon Dom. At the drop site, however, the man who claims to be Braga is a decoy and Campos, the real Braga, escapes and flees to Mexico.

Brian and Dom head out to Mexico on their own to catch Braga. They find him at a church and apprehend him. As Braga's henchmen come down to rescue their leader, Brian and Dom drive through the underground tunnels back to the United States. During the final moments of the chase, Brian crashes his car and is injured after being T-boned by Fenix at the end of the tunnel. Before Fenix has a chance to shoot Brian, Dom, who was not far behind, drives into and kills Fenix. As police and helicopters start streaming to the crash site on the US side, Brian tells Dom to get out of there. Dom says he is tired of running. Despite Brian's request for clemency, the judge sentences Dom to 25 years to life. In the last scene of the movie, Dom boards a prison bus that will take him to Lompoc penitentiary. As the bus drives down the road, Mia, Brian, along with Tego and Rico (who assisted in the Dominican Republic heists), arrive in their cars to intercept it.

The film is the fourth installment of the X-Men film series, and serves as a prequel to the previous installments, being primarily set roughly ten to seventeen years before the film X-Men. The film focuses on the violent past of the mutant Wolverine and his relationship with his half-brother Victor Creed. The plot also details Wolverine's early encounters with Colonel William Stryker, his time with Team X, and the bonding of Wolverine's skeleton with the indestructible metal adamantium during the Weapon X program.

The film was mostly shot in Australia and New Zealand, with Canada also serving as a location. Production was troubled, with conflicts arising between director Hood and Fox's executives, and an unfinished workprint being leaked in the internet one month before the film's debut.

In 1845 Canada, young James Howlett sees his father killed by groundskeeper Thomas Logan. The trauma activates the boy's mutation: bone claws protrude from James' hands, and he kills Logan. In his dying breath, Logan tells James that he is his real father. James flees with Logan's abused son and James' brother Victor Creed. The two survive for over a century as men in their prime, putting their violent urges and skills to use by fighting in the American Civil War and both World Wars. During the Vietnam War, Victor kills a superior after he stops Victor's rape attempt on a villager, James defends his brother, and the two are "executed" by firing squad. They are locked up in chains after the execution fails due to their regeneration powers. Major William Stryker approaches the two and offers them membership in Team X, a group of mutants which includes marksman Agent Zero, mercenary Wade Wilson, teleporter John Wraith, invincible Fred Dukes and electrokinetic Chris Bradley. The duo joins the team, but the group's questionable actions and disregard for human life cause James to leave.

Six years later, James - now going by the name Logan - is living in Canada with his girlfriend Kayla Silverfox. Colonel Stryker locates Logan and warns him someone is killing members of the team. Shortly afterwards, Victor murders Kayla and brutally beats Logan. Stryker offers Logan a way to beat Victor. Logan undergoes an operation to reinforce his skeleton with adamantium, a virtually indestructible metal. Before the procedure, Logan asks for new dog tags inscribed with "Wolverine". Stryker orders Logan's memory to be erased, but Logan overhears and flees, with former team member Zero tracking him. Wolverine takes refuge in the barn of an elderly couple who take him in for the night. Zero brutally murders the couple and attacks, but Wolverine subdues and kills him.

Wolverine locates Wraith and Dukes and asks them about the location of Stryker's new laboratory, referred to as "The Island." Dukes, now severely obese, explains that Stryker is performing experiments on mutants. One of them, Remy LeBeau ("Gambit"), escaped and knows the location of The Island. Wraith and Wolverine locate Gambit and Wolverine asks for the Island's location, but Gambit suspects Wolverine was sent to recapture him and attacks. Victor kills Wraith and takes a sample of his blood. Wolverine attacks and, with his enhanced strength, almost kills him. Gambit interrupts the fight, allowing Victor to escape. After being convinced of Wolverine's honesty, Gambit takes him to Stryker's facility on Three Mile Island. There, Wolverine learns that Silverfox is still alive and was conspiring with Stryker the whole time in exchange for her abducted sister's safety, but still genuinely loved Wolverine. Feeling hurt and betrayed, Wolverine leaves, and Stryker refuses to give Victor the adamantium bonding promised for his service, on the basis that he will not survive the procedure. Victor, enraged, tries to kill Kayla, but Logan hears her screams and stops him. Logan nearly kills Victor but spares him, and agrees to help Kayla free the imprisoned mutants.

Stryker activates his Weapon XI, a "mutant killer" super-soldier with the abilities of other mutants. Wolverine holds Weapon XI off while the escaped mutants flee. The mutants escape through the facility's tunnels, guided by a young blinded Scott Summers who is following a voice in his head. The party is greeted by Professor Charles Xavier, who offers them shelter at his school. Kayla, mortally injured in the escape, decides to stay. Wolverine lures Weapon XI to fight on top of one of the plant's cooling towers, where Victor arrives and aids his brother. Together, they decapitate Weapon XI. Victor escapes and Wolverine is saved from the collapsing tower by Gambit. As Wolverine carries Kayla to safety, Stryker shoots Wolverine in the back and head with adamantium bullets, knocking him unconscious. Silverfox uses her powers of persuasion to order Stryker to walk away before dying from her injuries. Gambit returns, but the brain damage causes Wolverine not to remember anything. As the police and ambulances arrive, Gambit tries to convince Wolverine to come with him, but he declines, wanting to make his own way. Gambit and Wolverine run opposite ways as the emergency vehicles respond to the devastated cooling tower.

Friday the 13th is a 2009 American horror film directed by Marcus Nispel, and written by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift. It is a reboot of the Friday the 13th film series,which began in 1980 and whose last film was the 2003 crossover film Freddy vs. Jason. Nispel also helmed the 2003 remake of Tobe Hooper's The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974), while Shannon and Swift wrote the screenplay for Freddy vs. Jason. It stars Derek Mears as Jason Voorhees, with Jared Padalecki, Amanda Righetti and Danielle Panabaker portraying the male and female leads. The film follows Clay Miller (Padalecki) as he searches for his missing sister, Whitney (Righetti), who was taken by Jason while she was camping in the woods at Crystal Lake.

Originally starting out as an origin story, the film ultimately became a re-imagining of the first four Friday the 13th films. Along with bringing the film back to its roots, Jason was designed as a leaner and faster killer, with a backstory that could provide a little sympathy for the character but not enough that he would lose his menace. Although this film reboots the continuity, Jason's iconic hockey mask,[6] which was not introduced until the third film in the series, is acquired through the progression of the film. In keeping with the tone of the film, Jason's mask was also brought back to its roots, created from a mold of the original mask from Part III, though subtle changes were made to keep it unique to the new film. Friday the 13th also incorporated some of Harry Manfredini's music score from the original Friday the 13th film series, as the producers recognized the iconic status it held.[7]

The film was released on Friday, February 13, 2009 to the most theaters of any of the Friday the 13th films.[2] Although the film was met with primarily negative reviews,[8] it earned approximately $19 million in its opening night and $40 million for its opening weekend. With its opening weekend, Friday the 13th broke two records, having the largest opening day for the film series, and the largest opening weekend for any horror film.[9][10] It currently sits as the second highest grossing film in the Friday the 13th franchise with $65 million,[9] and has earned just over an estimated $90 million worldwide.[3]

On June 13, 1980, a young Jason Voorhees (Caleb Guss) witnesses his mother (Nana Visitor) beheaded by a camp counselor (Stephanie Rhodes) who was trying to escape Mrs. Voorhees's murderous rampage around Camp Crystal Lake. Approximately 30 years later, a group of vacationing friends—Wade (Jonathan Sadowski), Richie (Ben Feldman), Mike (Nick Mennell), Whitney (Amanda Righetti) and Amanda (America Olivo)—arrive at Crystal Lake on a camping trip, and to find some marijuana that was planted in the woods. As Mike and Whitney explore the abandoned Crystal Lake camp, Jason (Derek Mears) begins to kill the rest of the group one-by-one. Jason also kills Mike, but instead of doing the same to Whitney he decides to kidnap her because she resembles his mother at a young age.

Six weeks later, Trent (Travis Van Winkle), along with his girlfriend Jenna (Danielle Panabaker), and their friends Bree (Julianna Guill), Chewie (Aaron Yoo), Chelsea (Willa Ford), Nolan (Ryan Hansen) and Lawrence (Arlen Escarpeta) arrive at Trent's summer cabin, which sits on Crystal Lake, unaware of the events that occurred a few weeks prior. Also in town is Clay (Jared Padalecki), who has come to Crystal Lake searching for his sister Whitney. Clay eventually makes his way to Trent's cabin, where Jenna agrees to help him look for his sister on the other side of the lake. As Clay and Jenna search for clues to Whitney's disappearance, Jason kills Nolan and Chelsea out on the lake. Clay and Jenna reach the old Crystal Lake campgrounds, where they witness Jason hauling a dead body into one of the abandoned camp houses.

Clay and Jenna run back to warn the others about Jason, who arrives shortly after them and cuts the power to the cabin. After killing Chewie and Lawrence, who ventured outside the house, Jason sneaks inside the cabin and kills Bree. Trent, Clay and Jenna escape the house, but Trent is killed shortly after when he reaches the main road. Jason then chases Clay and Jenna back to the campgrounds, where Clay discovers Jason's lair and finds his sister chained to the wall. Clay frees Whitney, and all three attempt to escape as Jason arrives. The trio find an exit, but Jenna is killed before she can get out. Jason comes after Clay and Whitney, who use Jason's love and memory of his mother to distract him long enough to stab him in the chest with his own machete. Afterward, Clay dumps Jason's lifeless body into the lake, but before he and Whitney can leave Jason bursts through the lake dock and grabs Whitney.

Race to Witch Mountain is a re-imagining of the 1975 film Escape to Witch Mountain. Both versions of the film are based on the 1968 novel Escape to Witch Mountain by author Alexander Key. The film is directed by Andy Fickman and stars Dwayne Johnson, AnnaSophia Robb, Alexander Ludwig, Ciarán Hinds and Carla Gugino. Filming began in Los Angeles in March 2008. Race to Witch Mountain was released on March 13, 2009.

Jack Bruno (Dwayne Johnson) is a cab driver in Las Vegas. One of his passengers is Dr. Alex Friedman (Carla Gugino), a failed scientist who is giving speeches about legitimate scientific theories of UFOs and outer space.

The next day, Bruno notices two children, Sara (AnnaSophia Robb) and Seth (Alexander Ludwig) sitting in the back seat of his cab. They tell him they need to go to a certain destination and are willing to pay all they have (about $15,750,with a $15,000 tip) to get there. They lead him to a house in the middle of nowhere. Meanwhile, Major Henry Burke (Ciaran Hinds) is searching for information on the two aliens that landed some days earlier.

When they arrive at the house, Bruno follows them out of concern and curiosity. There, the kids retrieve their objective, a device contained within alien flora.

When leaving, they are attacked by a "Siphon", a creature built to destroy a certain target. The Siphon pursues them, until its spaceship crashes into a train, the Diesel Locomotive is destroyed by an explosion in the railroad tunnel, and the creature is wounded. The trio eventually find themselves in a small town. The children explain to Bruno that they are aliens from a distant planet, who are sent to Earth by their parents because the government of their dying planet intends to attack and invade Earth so that their kind may live on there. They also explain that the object they obtained at the house contains the results of an experiment which their parents set up. The research from this experiment will save their planet without having to attack and invade Earth. However their planet's military prefer the idea of invading Earth and sent the Siphon assassin to stop them. They are next pursued by government agencies trying to retrieve the children for experiments.

They are joined by Dr. Friedman at the UFO Expo. With help of one of Dr. Friedman's friends, the kids discover that their crashed spaceship has been relocated to a government base at Witch Mountain. The group, now including Dr. Friedman, after evading the pursuing government agents, eventually arrive at Witch Mountain. There, the children are captured, along with Bruno and Friedman. Nevertheless, the two humans escape and come to rescue the kids. The Siphon causes a distraction by attacking the base, allowing the humans to free the children and reach their ship. They launch the ship, escape through the mountain's tunnels and defeat the Siphon who boarded the ship. Once safe, the kids drop the humans off, and during a tearful goodbye, give Bruno and Dr. Friedman a device that will allow the kids to always find them. Sara also gives Bruno the ability to read minds. The movie ends with the spaceship taking off and returning to their planet.

During the end credits, Bruno and Dr. Friedman (now a couple) are speaking at a UFO convention about their new successful book called "Race to Witch Mountain". As they are about to leave, the device the kids gave Bruno activates, indicating that they may be returning.

Derek Charles (Idris Elba) is the Executive Vice President of Gage Bendix and has received a recent promotion from his boss (Bruce McGill). He is happily married to Sharon (Beyoncé Knowles), who is pursuing her business degree. They have a son, Kyle. However, a new temporary worker, Lisa Sheridan (Ali Larter) begins to unnerve him. Derek's best friend and co-worker, Ben (Jerry O'Connell), reminds him to be careful because he thinks she has her eyes on him. Lisa eventually attempts to seduce him, but he repeatedly rejects her advances. Lisa becomes obsessed and begins to manipulate Derek and Sharon’s relationship, eventually becoming violent. Lisa's actions become erratic and she fakes a suicide in Derek's hotel room while he is on a business trip, leaving him no choice but to send her to the hospital. Detective Monica Reese (Christine Lahti) interrogates Derek about his "relationship" with Lisa. Both Detective Reese and Sharon refuse to believe he didn't sleep with Lisa. When Derek and Sharon go home, Sharon kicks him out of the house and they separate for three months. However, she still lets him visit and play with Kyle.

Within the three months, Detective Reese interrogates Lisa, who lies about her relationship with Derek. Detective Reese discovers that Derek was telling the truth and that Lisa is insane. Reese informs Derek that she believes him now and Lisa has moved to San Francisco. After Sharon forgives Derek, they go out to dinner for his birthday. Sharon gives him a gift that is actually the key to the house. While they are out, Lisa goes to their home and convinces the babysitter Samantha (Scout Taylor-Compton) to let her in, eventually escaping with Kyle while Samantha is distracted. When Derek and Sharon return, Samantha informs them that Lisa had been there, and they find that Kyle is missing. Derek goes to the car, intending to pursue Lisa, and finds Kyle in the backseat with lipstick from Lisa on his forehead. They immediately take Kyle to the hospital to make sure he is okay. Detective Reese meets up with them there. Sharon warns her that she better do something about Lisa or she'll do it herself. Reese assures them that she'll handle it. They take Kyle home, where they have a hard time putting the upset baby to bed. Afterwards, they try to go to bed they see that Lisa has trashed their bedroom and removed Sharon's face from all the family portraits. The next morning, Sharon leaves an angry, threatning voicemail on Lisa's phone. They set up a home alarm system, while Lisa secretly monitors the house from outside.

Later on, Patrick (Matthew Humphreys), Derek's assistant, receives a call from Lisa. He reveals that Sharon and Derek will be visiting her mother's house, with Sharon leaving that afternoon and Derek first thing the next morning. While Sharon is on the way to her sister's to pick up Kyle before she goes to her mothers, she calls Derek, who asks her if she set the alarm. She realizes that she forgot and goes back to set it. Meanwhile, Lisa has broken into the house with a bottle of champagne. While setting the alarm, Sharon hears Lisa pop the champagne bottle open. Sharon finds Lisa wearing one of Derek's t-shirts lying in her bed. Sharon tells Lisa she is calling the police, but Lisa tries to stop her. Sharon pushes Lisa down, but Lisa gets up and shoves Sharon onto the dresser, knocking her down, and begins kicking her. Lisa grabs a lamp and tries to hit Sharon with it, but Sharon escapes to the bathroom.

Derek calls the house and Lisa answers. Sharon struggles with Lisa to get the phone, headbutting her and knocking her down. Sharon tells Derek she's going to have to call him back and hangs up. Derek calls Detective Reese and leaves his office. While fighting, Sharon reminds Lisa of everything she has done. Lisa escapes and runs to the attic. Sharon pursues Lisa to the attic, where she is attacked. Sharon, remembering when Derek showed her a weak spot in the floor, leads Lisa to it. Lisa falls through the floor and hangs onto the edge. Sharon reaches out and grabs her hand to prevent her from falling, but Lisa pulls Sharon down with her instead of accepting her help. Seeing that the floor is starting to buckle, Sharon pries Lisa off of her arm and she falls to the ground. Lisa grabs a chandelier, stopping her fall, but lets go and falls onto the table below. Sharon sighs in regret as she sees this, but then sees Lisa open her eyes. Lisa begins to rise up when the broken chandelier falls on Lisa and kills her. Derek and Detective Reese arrive as Sharon comes out of the front door. As the film ends, Sharon and Derek embrace each other.

The film, which began shooting November 2007, is directed by Thor Freudenthal and stars Emma Roberts, Jake T. Austin, Lisa Kudrow, Kevin Dillon, Kyla Pratt, and Don Cheadle. The book was adapted by Jeff Lowell and Kim Possible creators Bob Schooley and Mark McCorkle. It was released on January 16, 2009.

The film is the Nickelodeon cable television network's first film to be produced by DreamWorks Pictures rather than Paramount Pictures,[1] except for the Paramount/DreamWorks co-production Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events. The film was a DreamWorks SKG/Nickelodeon Movies presentation of a Donners' Company and Donner/Shuler-Donner production.

Orphaned siblings Andi (Emma Roberts) and Bruce (Jake T. Austin), have been forced to hide their ownership of their beloved dog, Friday, as they move from one foster home to another. They deceive a pawn shop to get money for hamburgers for themselves and the dog, but are caught. Their social worker Bernie (Don Cheadle) reprimands them, but helps them to minimize the damage.

They secretly turn a closed hotel into a home for Friday and any other strays they can find. They are joined by a guy named Dave (Johnny Simmons) and a girl named Heather (Kyla Pratt), both of whom work at a pet store; Dave and Andi soon develop crushes on one another. They are later joined by a kid who lives nearby named Mark (Troy Gentile), who likes Heather, although she does not return the feelings.

The kids rescue many dogs, and Bruce invents and constructs many ingenious machines, using parts he steals from his foster parents, to help feed the dogs and provide sanitary facilities, exercise and entertainment to them. The dogs are quick in learning how to use the machines.

Bernie is pleased to tell them they can move from the foster home they hate to a new one that is a few hours away. Even though this may be their last chance to be placed in a foster home together, they decline as they care too much about the dogs to abandon them, but they cannot tell Bernie this reason because they might be forbidden to continue their care for the dogs.

One night while Andi and Dave are at a party, the machines fail and the dogs go wild and cause so much noise that the cops are called. The dogs are taken to a pound and Bruce and Andi's foster parents kick them out for stealing, and as predicted they are sent to separate foster homes. The pound prepares to put the dogs down, but Friday escapes and gets to Dave.

The two reunite all of the kids and they decide to save the dogs despite the fact that they are going to get in big trouble. They break the dogs out of the pound and try to lead them over the county line to an animal shelter there that has a no kill policy, but as the dogs get close to the hotel, they turn and run there as that is their home. The kids and a massive crowd of people follow. At first, Animal Control tries to take them back, but Bernie, having seen what the kids did, makes a speech in favor of the dogs as the kids rescued so many strays and gave them a home, something he had been trying to do with the kids he dealt with. Also, when he introduces the two twin dogs, Viola and Sebastian, this makes reference to the play, "Twelfth Night". The characters Viola and Sebastian are also twins in "Twelfth Night".

With donations from the people of the city the hotel ends up fixed up and turned into an actual hotel for dogs named The Hotel For Dogs. The kids all work there, Andi and Dave kiss,and Mark starts to win Heather over. Bernie and his wife end up adopting Andi and Bruce and let them keep "Friday".

On the urging of her father, Miley takes a trip to her hometown of Crowley Corners, Tennessee to get some perspective on what matters the most in her life.

Filming began in April 2008, much of it occurring in Columbia, Tennessee,and Los Angeles, California, and was completed in July 2008. The film was released in theaters on April 10, 2009 in the United States and Canada. As the teen sitcom originated on Disney Channel, Disney Channel premiered a teaser trailer of the film during their shows.

At the box office, Hannah Montana: The Movie grossed $17.4 million on its opening day and $32 million on opening weekend, to earn the #1 spot at the box office. The film earned $78 million in the United States and $44 million internationally, putting films total earnings at $123,481,092 worldwide as of July 2009, making it the most successful film based on a TV Teen series beating South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut. The film will be released August 18, 2009 on DVD[12] and Blu-ray.[13]

The movie is said to have taken place in between seasons 2 and 3 due to a reference in the episode "Promma Mia" that Robbie has allowed Jackson to return from the college in Tennessee.

Miley Stewart has become overwhelmed with her alter-ego, Hannah Montana's, popularity. After being late to her blowout concert and filming her music video ("Best of Both Worlds 2009 Movie Mix"), Oswald, a sneaky undercover journalist for celeb magazine BomChic, overhears that Hannah is keeping a secret (that she is really Miley Stewart) and becomes determined to find out what it is. However, Miley gets into trouble when she ends up in a catfight with Tyra Banks over a pair of shoes at a department store, wanting to buy them as a birthday present for best friend Lilly, but Tyra is presenting it to her friend ("The Good Life"). This results in her missing saying goodbye to brother Jackson who departs for college. Steve Rushton performs at Lily's birthday party. ("Everything I Want") ("Game Over") When Oswald secretly follows her limo to the party, she is forced to attend as Hannah, resulting in the guests turning their attention to her instead of Lilly, especially when Hannah is accompanied by Steve Rushton in her performance of ("Let's Get Crazy").[14][15] Oliver and Rico try to stop Lilly from leaving, but the party is now ruined by an exploding cake.

Hannah and Tyra's fight is splashed across front pages across the media and Miley's father, Robby is left furious about the fact her popstar life could threaten to take over for good. That same day, they leave for the World Music Awards in New York on a private jet but when the plane lands, Miley instead finds herself in Crowley Corners, Tennessee, her hometown. It soon emerges Robby had the plane travel to Tennessee instead because of it being her grandmother, Ruby's birthday and that he wants her to reveal the life she could have had. When the dismayed Miley asks if her career as Hannah Montana is over, Robby says to ask again in two weeks' time. But Miley won't let go being Hannah Montana.

In Tennessee, Robby and Miley have their own relationships. Robby has a love interest, Lorelai, played by Melora Hardin, and Miley develops a deep connection with a childhood friend Travis Brody, played by Lucas Till, after he helps her with riding her old horse, Blue Jeans. Robby's relationship with Lorelai is awkward.

That night, Miley looks at a picture of her mom and her when she is young, missing her mother. Meanwhile, Miley is chastened after Robby mentions that she seems to want to be Hannah Montana more than she wants to be with her family. Oswald, meanwhile, follows Miley to her hometown. Later, she tries to write a song, but when Travis ignores it, she is unable to write. Meanwhile, there is a firm battle developing with the residents of Crowley Corners and a team of developers who are planning to destroy the meadows and building a shopping mall on the site. At a barn party that night, several singers contribute to the charity to save Crowley Corners, singing ("Back to Tennessee" by Billy Ray Cyrus), and ("Crazier" by Taylor Swift). Miley then sings ("Hoedown Throwdown") until the mall developers arrive. Travis and Miley dance, as do Robby and Lorelei. Travis suggests that Hannah Montana should appear to play a special gig, seeing that Miley knows her (Miley had lied to Travis that she saved Hannah's life in a surfing accident)as a way to save the meadows from being ruin for construction.

Miley spends time with Lily, who has arrived along with Hannah Montana's band and crew, and the two make up. She has a rough time adjusting to farm life while trying to be herself and Hannah, and Oswald takes a picture of her and Lilly, and Lilly is the one that invited Oswald to come here for a secret by accident. When Miley sees Travis, talking to him as Hannah, she encourages him to ask Miley out; he decides to take her advice. She promises to go, but has been invited to dinner with the Mayor by Lorelai (Lilly had been disguised as Hannah at the time). Miley struggles to switch between the two venues as both forms. Eventually she lets her guard down and is caught by Travis holding her Hannah wig. He immediately rejects Miley and she is devastated. Matters are further complicated when Robby has to break up with Lorelai, needing to take care of his daughter.

Miley writes her own song, "Butterfly Fly Away", which she and Robby Ray sing together to cheer her up. Upon finding the finished chicken coop that he and Miley were building and hearing the Hannah Montana song "Rock Star", Travis decides to go to the concert to support Miley.

The day of the final concert arrives and while performing, Hannah suddenly stops midsong, seeing Travis show up. She explains to the crowd that she cannot do this anymore, saying that that where she was was home. Hannah then removes her wig and reveals that she is Miley and can no longer continue being Hannah, declaring herself unable to lead her double life anymore. She then sings her own song she created; ("The Climb"), but afterward the crowd pleads with her to carry on being Hannah, promising her they won't tell anyone her secret. Suddenly, Oswald appears and takes a picture on his mobile phone but after encouragement not to by his twin daughters, he changes his mind and quits his job. The concert ("You'll Always Find Your Way Back Home") is a success and Miley departs Tennessee again after kissing Travis, her faith in living a double life fully restored, and Robby and Lorelai renew their relationship.

Madea Goes to Jail is a 2009 crime comedy-drama film adaptation written and directed by Tyler Perry, which was inspired by Perry's play of the same name. The film centers on Perry's character Madea Simmons going to jail for her uncontrollable anger management problems, and also focuses on a developing romance between a young lawyer and a female friend from his past (whom Madea meets in jail). An exclusive preview of the movie was included on the cinematic release of Tyler Perry's The Family That Preys.

After a high-speed freeway chase (as shown at the end of Perry's previous film Meet the Browns) puts Madea (Tyler Perry) in front of the judge (Mablean Ephriam), her reprieve is short-lived when she goes to the store and destroys a woman's car after she cuts in front of her. Judge Mathis (as himself) gives her a sentence of five years. A gleeful Joe (Perry) couldn't be happier at Madea's misfortune. But Madea's eccentric friend Mr. Brown and their illegitimate daughter Cora (David and Tamela Mann) rally behind her with the help of Joe's lawyer son Brian (Perry) who is tired of Madea and Joe getting into trouble, lending their special "country" brand of support.

Meanwhile, (DeKalb County, Georgia) assistant district attorney Joshua Hardaway (Derek Luke) is on the fast track to career success. But Hardaway lands a case too personal to handle - defending a young prostitute and former drug addict Candace Washington (Keshia Knight Pulliam), whom he is apparently already acquainted with - and asks his fiancée and fellow ADA Linda Davis (Ion Overman) to fill in on his behalf. After the trial, Joshua, who has paid Candace's bail, meets with a church activist friend of his Ellen (Viola Davis), who tries to help a wary Candace, who seems somewhat bitter and angry about her circumstances, but determined to be a survivor. Joshua and Candace talk briefly over lunch, and it is implied that the two had some past dealings with one another as college students.

Later on the streets Ellen meets Candace with her friend Donna (Vanessa Ferlito) (another prostitute), to whom she tells "I'm still waiting". When Ellen leaves, Candace asks what she meant. Donna says for her to get off the streets. Donna and Candace then make a deal: if Donna gets off the streets so does Candace. One of Donna's boyfriends finds them, sexually assaults Candace, and declares himself her pimp. After Candace escapes him (through the bathroom window of the motel room where he took her), she calls Joshua, who brings her back to his place while Linda is asleep on his bed. When Linda finds Candace asleep on the couch in her robe, an apparently jealous Linda gets angry at Joshua, accuses him of having an affair with Candace, which Joshua denies, and storms out after the two argue.

Madea, for her part, is still struggling with anger management issues. She runs a man off the road - in the minivan Cora is driving at the time while taking Madea to an anger management counseling session, which is run by Dr. Phil (as himself). A frustrated Dr. Phil ends up throwing Madea out of his office. After another incident in the parking lot of a Kmart store, where a car is slammed upside down with a forklift operated by Madea out for revenge. (The driver having pull around Madea and taken the parking spot Madea was about to pull into.) Madea makes a quick get away as the hysterical and outraged woman calls her husband a police officer. A SWAT team is dispatched to Madea's house and they arrest Madea. This leads directly to the aforementioned 5-year sentence handed down by Judge Mathis.

While waiting for Candace (who never shows up) outside the court house, Ellen asks Josh how he knows Candace. He says they grew up together, and then went to the same college where she was made fun of by his college friends so she started to embarrass him. One night when he took her to a party, he ended up leaving with a date leaving Candace at the party, where the friends gang raped her, something Joshua feels extreme guilt for. Josh asks Ellen if she could try to help Candace out. She agrees and gets her a job interview, where the interviewer makes an unwelcome sexual advance towards Candace, asking her just how badly she wants this job, and says he's seen her file so this should be nothing new. Candace gives it to him in the groin and storms out, telling Ellen "Your Christian help ain't so Christian", and walks away.

Candace shows up outside Josh's apartment later, apparently undergoing withdrawal symptoms from drugs. Josh, coming home after a night out with Linda, brings Candace in his apartment, covering her with a blanket and reassuring her, which angers Linda (who strongly disapproves of any help Josh is giving to Candace because she is a prostitute), saying he's never been like that for her, and she storms out. Josh tries to go after her, but Candace begs him to stay with her.

Later at the district attorney's office, Joshua's friend Chuck (another lawyer in the office) runs into Linda, whom he discovers is falsifying Candace's file to deliberately get her sent to jail, and apparently has been doing this with other defendants as well. Linda tells him to keep his mouth shut or she'll tell the head ADA that Chuck cheated (on his bar exam) to get his job.

Candace, having run away from Josh's apartment, is back on the streets working her "job", and gets picked up by an undercover cop.

When Candace ends up in jail, she discovers Donna also in jail. Madea is also in jail, adjusting to her cellmate, T.T., who makes "Brownies for her Brownie" and is in jail for killing 18 men. Madea befriends Candace, protecting her in a "motherly" way as only Madea can (i.e., beating up a fellow inmate that was trying to come on to Candace). Candace, Madea, and Donna all attend a class taught by Ellen at the jail, mostly to get time off of their sentences.

After about five months of jail time, only on Joshua's wedding day does Chuck, who is Joshua's best man at the wedding, finally get up the nerve to tell Joshua the truth as to why Candace actually went to jail.

During the wedding ceremony, when it's time for Joshua to say his vows to Linda, he tells the entire congregation, with their boss in attendance, that Linda has been falsifying records to get convictions. Josh leaves a stunned Linda at the altar; still in his wedding tuxedo, he then rushes to the jail where he kisses Candace and admits that he loves her.

Because of the now-revealed news of Linda's tampering with client files, there is a public outcry and a protest movement gains momentum to set Madea and the others free. Candace, Madea and some other women that Linda prosecuted have their convictions overturned and are released. Madea goes home with Brown, Cora, and Bryan, and Candace goes home with Joshua.

Angels & Demons is a 2009 American film adaptation of Dan Brown's novel by the same name. It is the sequel to The Da Vinci Code, even though the novel Angels & Demons was published first and takes place before the novel The Da Vinci Code. Filming took place in Rome, Italy, and the Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City, California. Tom Hanks reprises the lead role of Robert Langdon, while director Ron Howard, producer Brian Grazer, and screenwriter Akiva Goldsman also return.

Under the watchful eyes of Father Silvano Bentivoglio and Dr. Vittoria Vetra, the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) initiates the Large Hadron Collider and captures three vials of antimatter. Immediately afterward, someone kills Father Silvano, using his retina to infiltrate the containment chamber, and steals one vial.

The Roman Catholic Church mourns the death of Pope Pius XVI in Rome. Vatican City prepares for the College of Cardinals' papal conclave, which will select the next Pope. Until that time, Camerlengo Patrick McKenna, a papal court official and former helicopter pilot, assumes temporary control of the Vatican. Reporters, nuns, priests, and other faithful members of the Church crowd into Saint Peter's Square, waiting for the white smoke from the conclave, signalling a successful vote. But the Illuminati, a 400-year old, underground secret society, kidnap the four most likely candidates before the conclave enters seclusion. The Illuminati threaten to kill one every hour, beginning at 8:00 pm, and then destroy the Vatican in a burst of light at midnight. A stolen security camera shows the missing antimatter vial, which will catastrophically explode when the vial's battery dies and the magnetic containment field fails.

The Vatican summons symbologist Robert Langdon from Harvard University and Vittoria Vetra from CERN to help them solve the Illuminati's threat, save the four preferiti, and replace the vial's batteries. Langdon listens to the Illuminati message and deduces that the four cardinals will die at the four altars of the "Path of Illumination." However, no one knows where these altars are located. Vetra demands that Commander Richter, the commandant of the Swiss Guard, to bring Father Silvano's diaries from Switzerland, hoping that they contain the name of the person with whom Silvano discussed the antimatter experiment. Langdon also demands access to the Vatican Secret Archives (something he has requested for 10 years) to see the original copy of Galileo Galilei's banned book, which may contain the locations of the four "altars of science." Using the clues from this book, Langdon, Vetra, Inspector General Ernesto Olivetti, and Lieutenant Valenti of the Vatican Gendarmerie Corps race to the first church, only to find the first cardinal, Cardinal Ebner, dead, suffocated with dirt, eaten by rats and branded with the word "Earth." They verify the second altar's location and arrive, only to witness the death of the second cardinal, Cardinal Lamassa, his lungs lacerated and his body branded with the word "Air." While Vetra studies Silvano's diaries, Langdon and the Vatican officers locate the third church and try to save the third cardinal, Cardinal Gudiera, from burning to death, but the assassin appears and kills everyone but Langdon. The cardinal succumbs to the flames, his body branded with the word "Fire."

After escaping, Langdon convinces two Carabinieri officers to race with him to the last church of the "Water" altar, but the assassin murders them and drops the fourth cardinal, Cardinal Baggia, into the Fountain of the Four Rivers. However, Langdon saves the cardinal, who tells him the location of the Illuminati's lair: Castel Sant'Angelo. When Langdon and Vetra arrive, they are confronted by the assassin, who spares their lives since they are not armed and he has not been paid to kill them. He reveals that his contractors were from the Catholic Church. The assassin escapes and finds a vehicle containing his payment, but is killed by a car bomb upon igniting the engine. Langdon and Vetra discover that the final victim of the plot will be Camerlengo McKenna. After arriving at the Vatican via a secret passage, they and some Swiss Guards enter the Camerlengo's office and find him in the floor branded with the Vatican's symbol on his chest and Commander Richter near him with a gun. The Guards promptly kill Richter to save the camerlengo. During the confusion, the dying commander gives Langdon a key to his office. Then the camerlengo, Langdon, Vetra, and the Swiss Guards discover the location of the stolen antimatter vial. By the time they find it, the battery is about to expire, the deadly explosion just minutes away. The camerlengo seizes the vial and uses a helicopter meant for escape from the Vatican to fly above the church. He then activates the autopilot and escapes with a parachute. After several seconds, the bomb explodes and the camerlengo lands, now considered a hero by the crowd and even as the best candidate to be the new Pope by the College of Cardinals. Meanwhile, Langdon and Vetra use Richter's key to watch a security video showing that the mastermind behind the murders of the original Pope and the preferiti and the antimatter robbery, in fact, is the camerlengo and not the Illuminati. While Richter tries to arrest McKenna, the priest brands himself with a seal that resembles Saint Peter's upside-down crucifixion and accuses the commander being a member of the Illuminati. Langdon shows the video to the College. After the camerlengo realizes his plot has been uncovered, he immolates himself with oil from one of the 99 holy lamps inside St. Peter's Basilica.

The Vatican announces that the camerlengo died due to internal wounds suffered during his landing, while the public demands he be canonized. The College designate the Cardinal Baggia as the new Pope (who chooses to take on the name Luke), and Cardinal Strauss as the new camerlengo. The new camerlengo thanks Robert Langdon for saving the Vatican and the new Pope, and as a mark of his gratitude loans Galileo's "Diagramma Veritas" to Langdon for his reference. The film ends with the new Pope walking out on the balcony to the cheering crowd in St. Peter's Square.

It is distributed by Walt Disney Pictures, and premiered by opening the 2009 Cannes Film Festival as the first animated film ever to do so. The film was released on May 29, 2009 in North America and is scheduled for release on October 9, 2009 in the United Kingdom. Up is director Pete Docter's second feature-length film (after Monsters, Inc.), and features the voices of Edward Asner, Christopher Plummer, Bob Peterson, and Jordan Nagai. It is Pixar's tenth feature film and the studio's first to be presented in Disney Digital 3-D, and is accompanied in theaters by the short film Partly Cloudy.

In 1939, Carl Fredricksen is a shy 8-year-old boy who meets an outgoing and rather eccentric girl named Ellie and discovers they share the same interest in adventures as their hero, famed explorer Charles Muntz. Ellie expresses her desire to move her clubhouse to Paradise Falls in South America, a promise she makes Carl swear to keep. Years pass, and Carl and Ellie marry and grow old together in the old house where they first met while making a living as a toy balloon vendor and a zookeeper respectively. Unable to have children, they also try to save up for the trip to Paradise Falls but other financial obligations arise. Just as they finally seem to be able to take their trip, Ellie dies of old age, leaving Carl living by himself, becoming sour and missing his wife terribly. As the years pass, the city grows around Carl's house with construction as he refuses to move. After a tussle with a construction worker over his broken mailbox, the court orders Carl to move into Shady Oaks Retirement Home. Carl comes up with a scheme to keep his promise to Ellie, and uses his old professional supplies to create a makeshift airship using 10,000 helium balloons which lift his house off its foundations. Russell, a Wilderness Explorer trying to earn his final merit badge for "Assisting the Elderly", has stowed away on the porch after being sent on a snipe hunt by Carl the day before.

After a storm throws them off course, Russell steers the house with the help of his GPS navigator, and they find themselves on the opposite side of the tepui from Paradise Falls. With their body weight providing ballast allowing Carl and Russell to pull the floating house, the two begin to walk across the tepui, hoping to reach the falls while there's still enough helium in the balloons to keep the house afloat. During the journey, Russell befriends a huge, colorful bird which he names Kevin, not realizing that the bird is actually female. They later run into a dog named Dug with a translating collar that lets him speak. They discover Dug's owner is 85-year-old Charles Muntz, who has remained in South America for many decades to find and bring back a giant bird (who turns out to be Kevin) in order to restore his reputation after bringing back a skeleton of the bird and being called a fraud because scientists thought he faked the evidence. Carl is initially thrilled to meet his hero, but when he realizes that Muntz is after Kevin and will kill remorselessly in order to capture her alive, Carl takes steps to save the bird and escape from Muntz. Thanks to Kevin and Dug they escape Muntz's pack of vicious dogs, led by a Doberman Pinscher named Alpha, but Kevin is injured during the escape.

Led by a tracking device in Dug's collar, Muntz and his dogs arrive in his airship while Carl and Russell assist the injured Kevin to her chicks. Muntz sets Carl's house on fire, forcing Carl to choose saving his house over cutting Kevin loose from the net trapping her. Muntz and his dogs quickly capture the bird and fly off. Carl firmly tells Russell he intends to get to Paradise Falls or die trying, and begins walking back again. The next day, Carl successfully gets the house on the ground overlooking Paradise Falls per Ellie's wish, but Russell's desire to fulfill his own dream has been dulled out of anger and disappointment. Carl, settling down in his house, finds Ellie's childhood scrapbook and discovers her mementos of her life with Carl after they were married, and a final note from her thanking Carl for the adventure of their marriage, and an encouragement for him to go on an adventure of his own. Invigorated by Ellie's last wish, he goes outside to see Russell, only to find him giving chase to Muntz. Carl lightens the weight of his house by dumping furniture and his possessions, allowing him to chase after Muntz in his house with Dug by his side.

Russell enters the airship through a window, but is captured by the dogs. He is tied up and left to fall to the earth, but Carl saves him and keeps him tied up in the house. Carl and Dug board the ship, and are able to lure the guard dogs away from Kevin to free her. Carl and Muntz duel face to face and fight (Muntz with a sword, Carl with his cane), while Dug is able to wrest control of the dogs and the dirigible from Alpha. Russell frees himself but clings to a lifeline as he finds the house in a dogfight with biplane fighters. When Carl shouts for help, Russell distracts the dog pilots and regains control of the house to rescue his friends, who are now on top of the airship. In pursuit, Muntz shoots out some of the balloons, causing the house to land and slide off the airship. Carl manages to trick Muntz inside the house while saving Russell, Dug, and Kevin. Defeated, Muntz falls from the airship, and Carl's house drifts off into the clouds — a loss Carl gracefully accepts as being for the best.

Carl takes Muntz's Dirigible and returns Kevin to her chicks, and then returns Russell and Dug back to the city. When Russell's father fails to attend his son's Senior Explorer ceremony, Carl fulfills that role himself to proudly present Russell with his final badge, the grape soda badge that Ellie presented to Carl when they first met ("The Ellie Badge"). Afterward, Carl becomes a cheerfully active community volunteer with a strong father-like relationship with Russell, Dug, and the other Wilderness Explorers. His house, through happenstance, has landed exactly where he and Ellie envisioned it — overlooking Paradise Falls.

In the Loop is a feature film directed by Armando Iannucci. It is an adaptation of the BBC TV series The Thick of It satirising Anglo-Saxon politics in the 21st century. The film was released on 17 April 2009 in the United Kingdom.

In the film, the President of the United States and the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom are looking to launch a war in the Middle East. The plot follows government officials and advisers in their behind-the-scenes efforts either to promote the war or prevent it. It stars Tom Hollander, James Gandolfini, Chris Addison, Peter Capaldi, Gina McKee, Steve Coogan and David Rasche. The film is a joint collaboration between BBC Films and the UK Film Council.

A BBC press release stating that filming had commenced in May 2008. As of December 2008, filming had concluded and a world premiere (at the Sundance Film Festival) was held on 22 January 2009. The European gala premier screening was held in the independent Glasgow Film Theatre as the opening of the 2009 Glasgow Film Festival on the 12th of February 2009, attended by Iannucci and members of the cast.

The film was shot on location in London and Washington DC. Time Out London noted during a set visit that the style of filming is highly similar to The Thick of It:

The similarities are everywhere, down to the docu-style, handheld camerawork evident on the monitors (it’s the same director of photography) and the anti-West Wing production design that throws all notions of political glamour out the window.

Iannucci himself mentioned progress on the film in several columns for The Observer newspaper.

In the film I was finishing, we featured a motorcade. We had some police standing by to add authenticity. We started rolling, but could never get up a decent speed because of the traffic lights at each block. Then one of the police leant into the car and said: "D'you want me to turn my siren on? That'll let us though all the red lights." It worked and it was also quite exciting.

Iannucci has stated: "We don't go up to White House level, we deal mainly with state department underlings, the kind of people that actually make decisions with enormous political consequences."

Kris Kristofferson plays the head of a corporate crime organization who tries to convince his former employee (Ray Liotta) not to seek vengeance on his co-workers. Liotta's character also reveals to Rose-Johnny that he is her father. Forest Whitaker, who also serves as a producer on the film, as a suicidal ex-priest. Alejandro Romero plays a transvestite prostitute who shares an unexpected bond with the priest.
