How To Use Google Chrome To Remotely Access Your PC

There are several ways in which you can remote access your computer, for instance, Team Viewer and VNC. But, if you have Google Chrome Installed then you can easily access your PC without using Team Viewer and VNC. Chrome has developed an extension called Chrome Remote Desktop extension; this extension will serve you to access your system remotely. It does not matter whether you’re using Windows or OS X, all you need is the Chrome Remote Desktop extension. Grab a copy of the add-on from the Chrome Web Store – click the Add To Chrome The extension must be installed on both the computers that are to be used remotely.

This is actually a surprisingly large extension, weighing in at some 22.6MB, but it will install very quickly nonetheless. Once installed, click New Tab and you can access the remote access tool from the list of installed apps.

The first time you launch Chrome Remote Desktop, you’ll need to grant it permission to access your computer. Click Continue, make sure that you are signed into your Google account, and then click ‘Allow access’.

The Screen options menu lets you toggle full screen mode on and off and set the resolution or allow you to scale to fit the size of your browser window.

LG Optimus F7 Tipped for Release with Boost Mobile

LG officially unveiled the Optimus F7 during Mobile World Congress. We then later saw the handset released as the Optimus LTE III in Korea, however otherwise, release news for the F7 has remained on the quiet side. Since last year, Google Glass has taken the tech world abuzz as the next big innovation in mobile technology. These glasses, when worn, allow users to carry out tasks that are currently only possible on smartphones, all through an augmented reality layer placed on the user’s eyesight. If you have been wondering how this technology actually works under the hood, a German artist has put together an infographic that clearly illustrated the inner workings of this new futuristic device.

As illustrated by the infographic, Google Glass is comprised by some of the hardware that would usually make up a smartphone, including a microphone, camera, battery, speakers and the CPU, in addition to a mini projector. Images from the mini projectors, which are cleverly hidden next to each of the lenses, are bounced off the prism straight into the user’s retina. This allows the user to see the world around them naturally, where “layers” of information can be displayed on top of it. As one would expect, the position of this augmented reality layer can be changed by simply repositioning the glasses.

The designer also speculates on the main question that many have asked about this upcoming product: how can people who already wear glasses, and with low vision, can actually use the product? The proposed solution will involve changing the position of the prism, ensuring that it sits on top of the standard glasses, which as you might expect would bump up the price quite significantly as it involves creating a product which is, you know, custom in nature.

Google Glass, which began internal testing in April of last year, is currently in prototype stage and gaining interest from consumers and hardcore enthusiasts alike. In addition to some limited developer testing, Google recently launched the Glass Explorer program, which is aimed at allowing a limited selection of early adopters to give the new device a try.

We will be left to see whether these new augmented reality glasses will replace smartphones one day. But we strongly believe that Glass will probably end up as an accessory rather than a proper day-to-day device. Considering how Glass might cause issues when being worn in the workplace, it would be interesting to see how Glass would be used, or accepted in big organizations and firms.

It has been a rather busy past couple of months for Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook. With the News Feed revamp last month followed-up swiftly by the announcement of the Facebook Home for Android launcher late last week, the social network has just begun rolling out a brand new emotion feature to some users in the United States. Having initially run some tests back in January for the feature, which makes it easy for users to divulge their feelings, it looks as though it is ready for the public’s consumption, and should begin to reach nations outside of The States before too long.

Emoticons within text have long since been supported on Facebook, but this new feature allows for a larger emoticon to accompany the text written as a status update. So if, for example, somebody’s status denotes a particularly miserable or tumultuous occasion, they may want to select the sadface, which will in turn be clearly placed alongside the message in people’s Timelines.

It’s not a particularly groundbreaking feature by any stretch, particularly after seeing just how much time, effort and innovation the company has put into Home, but it does make it easier for users to convey how they are feeling.

A refreshed flavor of the Google Play Store application is now available for download for devices running under Android, the same version 4.0 that was spotted in leaked screenshots only several days ago.

How To Root Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 On Android 4.2.2

Galaxy S4 rooted! No, this one actually works! Earlier, news hit the internet that the Samsung Galaxy S4 had been rooted, and I was almost tempted to break the news too when I saw the forum thread at XDA-Developers. However, news as it was, it was always going to be a risk asking our readers to hop onto the root bandwagon, owing to the fact that the developer had no device to test the method on. That’s when recognized Android developer and XDA forum member ‘Chainfire’ stepped in to save the day and confirm root access!

The rooting method for the Galaxy series has always been the same, till the release of the S4. Apparently, this time around, repacking Samsung’s firmware package with su to flash it via ODIN is causing the device to reboot every time the su binary is executed. This is because of the new Samsung Knox security feature that makes phones eligible for workplaces that use the ’Bring Your Own Device’ (BYOD) policy for their employees.

The working method, the one we’ll be discussing here, is none other than the famous CF-Auto-Root process by Chainfire, that still seems to be working for the GT-I9505 (Qualcomm LTE) version of the S4, but not the Exynos 5 variant. Be sure that your GT-I9505 is running the XXUAMD2 firmware. It’s the firmware this method was tested on, but as Chainfire points out, it might not be the one that is shipped with the final release.

Disclaimer: This root mechanism works only on Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE GT-I9505, with the firmware XXUAMD2. All other variants and firmware versions are unsupported. Please follow these instructions at your own risk. Step 1: To begin, download the root package and unzip to a convenient location.

Step 2: Put your Samsung Galaxy S4 in Download mode using the button combination. To do so, turn the phone off, then hold down the Volume Down, Home and Power buttons together to boot it back up. As soon as the phone boots, release the power button and follow any on-screen instructions that might appear.

Step 3: Launch Odin3 on your computer, and connect your device in download mode to the PC using USB cable. Odin3 will detect the connection and indicate a COM port on top.

Step 4: Under PDA, select the .tar.md5 file that you extracted from Chainfire Auto-Root package. Make sure that Re-Partition is unchecked, and don’t touch any other settings. Hit the Start button to begin flashing the new PDA.

Step 5: Once flash is completed, the device will automatically reboot with a red Android logo, after which you’ll have root access.

Step 6: If the boot happens without the red Android, manually reboot into recovery to initiate the process, and you’re good to go.

Facebook just unveiled a new version of its Android app that is essentially a makeover of the experience on Android smartphones, rather than what you would typically consider an app.

Instead of building its own phone or forking Android to make a new operating system, Facebook Home is instead a significant re-tooling of Google's mobile operating system. Facebook Home is one of the first high-profile Android apps to do a significant re-tooling of the Android experience of this scale. Instead of putting apps first, it "puts people first", as CEO Mark Zuckerberg said.

What is Facebook Home?

The new software is more than a Facebook app—think of it as a skin built around the Android platform. Home replaces the smartphone’s typical cover screen and instead populates Facebook content, such as photos, messages and status updates. Home still provides access to apps on the phone, but the experience is centered around Facebook.

How Facebook Home different from the standard Android interface?

It boils down to two main features: “Cover Feed and “Chat Heads.” Cover Feed is the screen that appears when a user turns on the phone. Rather than simply showing a clock and a background photo, the Cover Feed displays photos and their captions from Facebook friends. Messages and status updates float on top. Users can swipe through the photos, double tap to “like” them or add comments.

Chat Heads is what Facebook calls its messaging interface. When a user receives an inbound message from someone—whether a text message of a Facebook message—the sender’s Facebook profile photo appears on the screen in a small circle. Users can tap the photo to chat with that person, even when browsing the Web or in another app. More than one “chat head” can appear on the screen. The idea is to provide a simpler messaging experience without having to switch back and forth between apps.

Home also comes with a launch menu populated with a users favorite apps and basic Android apps. Key Facebook tools, such as photos, status updates and check-ins, are also embedded at the top of the launcher as buttons.

Also, since this is a home launcher replacement for Android, therefore you have access to all of your installed apps. A simply slide on your own display image on the lock screen to a corresponding apps tab will take you to the app drawer where all your apps are nested. Removing apps is as simple as flicking them away, and same goes for messages and notifications that pop up for Facebook as well, a simple tap and hold would group all the notifications together, and swiping them down would dismiss them. A great use of gestures we must say.

Is this the “Facebook Phone?”

Yes and no. Facebook Home is essentially a retooling of the entire smartphone experience on Android devices. In that sense, this is Facebook’s version of a phone—but at the same time, Facebook hasn’t built actual hardware.

Android is, at its core, designed to be tinkered with and heavily modified. For example, developers can completely replace the digital keyboard on the phone. HTC is also launching a new phone, the HTC First, which comes optimized with Home. The phone will sell for $99.99 at AT&T Inc. stores starting April 12.

Facebook said Home will eventually support more Android devices, including tablets. A slide at Thursday’s event showed additional handset makers and partners including Sony Corp., Qualcomm Inc., Huawei Technologies Inc. and Lenovo Group Ltd.

How do I get Facebook Home?

Home will be available for download on April 12 in the Google Play store. However, it will initially only be available for certain Android phones: the HTC One X, HTC One X+ and forthcoming HTC One, as well as Samsung Electronics Co.’s Galaxy S III, Galaxy Note II and the forthcoming Galaxy S 4.
