But there are a few sites out there that have managed to offset these costs so well with advertisers that they can now share that revenue with the actual users who upload their files to share.

DepositFiles is my favorite file sharing site. They don’t overload you with ads and whats more, they will also pay you upload files and have peeps download them.

They display a leaderboard of earners on the site and the top webmasters have made thousands!!!

DepositFiles rates start at $2/1000 downloads of your file and go upwards depending on the file size.

In the web 1.0 age, a personal homepage probably was built using Frontpage or Notepad, had a few pics, maybe a bit of text and remained static and unchanged for most of the year.

During web 2.0 the homepage evolved into a blog. It wsa updated more regularly and contained fresh content.

So what does web 3.0 hold for the future of homepages?

A major shift is happening - all the content we create online is no longer done only on our blog but across a myriad of sites and services. Our photos are on Flickr, Twitter, Facebook and blogs. Instead of regular blog posts, there is a trend to post less on our blogs and more on micro-blogging services such as Twitter and even Facebook.

This major shift has resulted in our content being fragmented across the web. Sure, apps such as Friendfeed attempts to bring all the content together - but Friendfeed is no homepage replacment.

So the homepage of the 3.0 age needs to pull in all your data from across the web, mix it with your branding and oresent it in an accessible fashion.

This new age homepage is already happened. Blogs now containt lifestreams - a collection of all your digital creations, but this feels like tacking on a new piece of technology to something old.

I don’t know exactly what the homepage of tommorow will look like - do you?

BloggersBase is magazine powered by the community. You can write posts directly on the site, or I found its easier just to point your RSS feed to the service and it will pick up all your new posts automatically.

Using BloggerBase will not only increase your backlinks (and hopefully traffic) but you put yourself in the running to win weekly prizes. I would prefer if they did a revenue sharing model but prizes can sometimes be fun.

I am still undecided on how effective BloggersBase will be and I will need to leave it running for a couple of weeks to see if it delivers any traffic.

Let me know what you think of the site and if you have any experience with it.

I added the Entrecard widget to this blog about a week or so ago. I knew about the service since it had launched but hadn’t bothered putting it on any of my blogs until now, because I simply believed it wouldn’t do anything.

I still don’t understand all the complexeties of Entrecard, but I am starting to see traffic flow through - which justifies me keeping the widget on this blog.

Entrecard is a glorified blog advertising network which runs on a credit based system. You earn credits for “dropping” your card on other blogs (via the widget) and selling advertising space.

This blog, which is relatively new has a fairly long queue of advertisers and I have been using the credits I am earning to purchase ad space across a lot of different blogs.

I still have a lot to learn about Entrecard but after just one week the service is looking really promising and Im sure I will continue using it.

Do you use Entrecard? What are your experiences?

As for advertisers - even though the site is in beta, we have sold ads on other blogs without any fuss at all. Payout is via PayPal or cheque and can be requested whenever you feel like it! This is awesome as I hate having to wait until the 3rd friday of each month on leap years etc. to cashout.

One thing I’ve learnt from the very best marketers is that they have built up an amazing foundation. Im talking about a series of blogs, profiles, websites etc which they can use at their disposal to market a new product.

You may think that if you have built up a good foundation such as a very popular blog, you are set. But in reality, maintaining a popular blog probably takes as much work as starting out a blog for the very first time. Heres a question to the marketers - Does it ever get any easier?

No It wont happened overnight.

One thing I have learnt is that building up a network of money making sites takes time…a lot of time. Aspiring marketers seem to fall down when it comes to putting in the hard yards. Most of them have all the knowledge needed to make a decent amount online, but they get caught up in a never ending race to find the next get rich quick scheme.

Perseverance Really Pays Off

I have had many failures but with every failure I have managed to learn valuable lessons. Don’t expect your ventures to work first time out. Chances are, you will need to fine-tune your techniques and eventually you will hit the mark.

Build a Solid Foundation

This is a process I am currently in the middle of. I sold my previous ventures and am now at the beginning of the cycle. I will post more on how to build a solid foundation for your network but I would like emphasise the importance of building a good foundation. Have a homebase of sites will give you better SE rankings, will give you quality backlinks and drive traffic to new sites.

Allow for Months of Development

Real profits will occur for most people after many months of development. It may even take a year or more. The majority of blogs I see built, which are done so to make a profit, usually die within the first year. This is great for me, as I can can usually snap up a quick bargain as the marketer wants a quick sale when they lose interest. But its bad news for the marketer. If they had stuck with it for a little while longer and kept up the initial momentum, they would now have a profitable blog.

Work Every Day
