4. Make Sure you are now on Page Elements Tab.

5. Click Add A gadget in your Footer or any other closest area to the buttom of your page.

6. Select to add the “HTML/Javascript” Gadget.

7. Now Paste the Code that you had copied in step 2; in the Gadget Content.

8. Save the gadget.

Widget Configuration

To change the widget’s default configuration, you need to edit the following lines for respective settings.
1. To change the total no of posts displayed in your blog posts, Edit the following line of code.

Here’s a good news blogger users. Blogger in draft has added a better preview option in our editing framework of blogger. But yes, it’s still in blogger in draft. You need to go to Blogger in Draft Dashboard (http://draft.blogger.com) and need to create post from there.

What’s really the change?

The older version of preview used to show just the miniature preview with the formatting options applied and now the newer version actually allows you to preview the post directly in your blog along with the template you have applied. (Yes, similar to the wordpress feature.) I know most of you play with your WYSIWYG editor and want to preview it lot of time before you click on the “Publish Post” button.
This feature will actually help you to see how your ongoing post is going to look with your blogger template (along all your styles if used) and thus blog. Did you see that Preview icon band on the side of your blog? See the screenshot below to see how this post looked in preview with blogger.

Ok one more thing before you go and start using this feature. You need to refresh the page or click on the”preview Button again if you changed the content. Basically it means, the page wont refresh automatically. Blogger In draft did let us know about the new feature with its new blog post. Do you try the blogger feature before they are released ? Looking to make your Blogger Templates design better? You no longer need to be designer now! With few lines of additional codes in your templates, you can change its look with smart fonts. Yes, I am talking about Google’s Font API that will make the process of including non standard fonts in our blogger templates a lot easier. In this tutorial, I want to include details on how you can easily implement different fonts available from Google’s Font directory in your template to make it look beautiful and thus better.

First, Google’s Font API

Google’s Font API is simply a web font service that allows you to use the available fonts in its Google Font directory for your designs and most importantly it is Open Source and served by Google servers.

Google Font Directory

The fonts available in the Google Font directory are all open source and you can quickly use them with simple clicks and codes. The below screenshot shows some fonts (till the time of writing this post) you can use for your templates or projects.

Steps for Adding to your Blogger Template

Well, if you learnt enough about the Google’s Font API and now want to implement in your blogger template, let’s get started.
1. Go to the Google’s Font Directory and click on the font you want to use. For example in this tutorial, I have chosen the Droid Serif.

2. Now navigate to “Get the Code” button which is highlighted on your right.

The Code for the Droid Sans will be

3. Now see the below screenshot and copy the code you need to use for your Blogger Template.

4. After you have copied this code, go to your Blogger Template you want to add this font to; and Navigate to the Edit Html Tab. See image below. (we are now going to edit your Blogger Template)

5. Search for the tag <head> in your Template and add the above copied code directly after it.

6. Wait as blogger uses strict HTML markup and considers the original font embed code to be an open tag you also need to add forward slash (/) just before the closing “>” symbol in your code, so that the code can be properly parsed and thus the code for Droid Serif becomes

 <link href='http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Droid+Sans' rel='stylesheet' type='text/css'/> 

7. Save your Template.

8. One more Step before you can start using it. The above steps added the CSS file to support the font. And now we need to define where we need to apply the font in our theme. In order to define where we need to apply that, we need to add some additional style statements to the section of our template.

Don’t be confused! For example if I need to Use the Droid Serif font to my h3 title in my blog, then I would add the following line just beneath the closing tag </b:skin> :

 h3.post-title {font-family: Cantarell, Sans=Serif;} 

9. Now after you have decided where to apply the font, just change the font-family name to the required font.
The Following references and text areas to look for also can help you decide where you need to apply the font.

10. And once you have added that required CSS, you can preview to see it in action in your template. Try using different fonts and see which font suits your template better.
11. You can finally save changes to your template if you like it.

First I need to admit this. I am really sorry for making this blog unavailable throughout the week. But give me some time to explain what went wrong with this blog. I took the whole blog down mainly due to the security concerns. Yes, due to some problems with the host of this blog i.e. GoDadddy, some security flaws were discovered and I didn’t want to disappoint my readers and visitors by redirecting them to some spam site. So basically, everything I did was to protect my blog and readers.

I didn’t expect Godaddy could be this bad host. I always recommend Godaddy for buying domains but I won’t recommend it for Hosting purposes. Some months ago when I moved from Blogger to WordPress, I choose Godaddy as a host for my blog especially for ease. It’s not that I didn’t experience any other problems before this. I frequently experienced the “Error establishing Database connection” error. But it kept going on anyway because I used to receive a limited traffic.
Now this security flaw was really weird. Most Self hosted wordpress sites including this that were hosted with GOdaddy (and with some other hosting companied too); were hacked, in fact injected with some malicious code. This blog after being infected was being redirected to some other sites. So i took the site down and tweeted:

#GOdaddy is just good for domains, not for hosting purposes. For Some security issues, I have let my site down. Will restore it soon.
And also started looking if some other had problems. And I discovered a lot of tweets regarding the issue.

Soon GoDaddy started responding to the issue and found tweets such as;

GoDaddy has also replied to comments, created support articles and made a special “Security Issue” form on their website. (If you’re site has been compromised and you have not heard from Go Daddy yet, please be sure to contact their Security Team.) Via WP Security Lock

Besides all these, the WordPress exploit became more frustrating to me. As my database was infected, in hurry what I did was deleted the database and moreover so frustrated that I cancelled the particular hosting account with the Godaddy.
And then I contacted the Godaddy if they could help with anything. But they just sent me a mail with the expenses I need to cover in order to do so. See the mail below.

So instead of paying their charges, I decided I would do everything from the scratch myself. Well, it took some time but the good news is, we are Back and like never before.

3. You may need to “expand Widget Templates”. To do that check the box and it will expand itself.

4. You should have got the Adsense code or other html that you want to add. And now you need to change the code. Otherwise you are gonna get error like
Your template could not be parsed as it is not well-formed. Please make sure all XML elements are closed properly.

5. Ok so what you need to do is, Parse the Google Adsense Html or any other Html. To do that change the following characters to the given ones.

”= "


Found it complex and time consuming. Try this tool Escape Html from blogcrowds. Copy and Paste your Google Adsense or other code to the textbox in the tool and click on parse.
6. Now when you have got the parsed code, Paste that code to the specific place you need to display it. Now it should work perfectly.
