In Home Extended Family Photos | Roots Remain as One

Jen contacted me looking for someone to take family photos in her home. She had family visiting from New York- like lots of family- like 10 adults/2 kids lots. lol. I don’t do a lot of extended family sessions, much less in home extended family photos, but it was a lot of fun working with all of the different groupings: the kiddos, the whole group, and each of the smaller groups. When we had her consult, Jen and her mom wanted to do the photos inside their home, and asked about backgrounds and lighting. This is all opposite from my ‘normal’ sessions- I don’t do backdrops, except sometimes with my newborn sessions, I don’t have/use any lighting (I’m all natural lighting), and besides newborn or lifestyle sessions, my sessions are outdoors. I offered to refer them to another local photographer that may better meet their needs, but they wanted to stick with me- and I’m glad they did! They challenged me to find what would work- where in their home would have the most space and best background without showing the whole house, where we could open blinds and get the best natural lighting… all in all I think it worked! And it was sooooo hot on this summer FL day, so doing the session indoors was definitely a blessing. They hadn’t had family photos in years, so I’m glad I could do these for them while they were all together in Florida!

Professional Photos for the First Time | Anything Is Possible

I was so incredibly honored to get to take family photos for Claudia. She told me they were having professional photos for the first time. With any of my families, but especially families who have never had photos taken before, I try my best to explain what to expect from a photo session with me, but most important… RELAX and HAVE FUN! Parents can get caught up in how the kids are behaving, or how they think the photos are going to turn out. Don’t get in your head! I just want you to relax and have fun with your family! Thankfully, I think Claudia and RP were able to do just that.

We decided to do their session at Colonial Grand at Seven Oaks because Claudia loved the greenery, the paved walking paths, and the wooden bridge. It was overcast the day of their session, which ended up being perfect. William was the typical curious 3-year-old and wanted to help me take some pictures. I helped him take a few and he was sooo proud. Cathrine was veerry leary of me and what I was doing. She was oh so serious, but eventually cracked some smiles while playing with mom and dad.

I’m so happy I could do this sweet family’s first photo shoot and capture so many memories for them.

What’s your favorite family activity? Anything outdoors! Playing at the park, sidewalk chalk and bubbles in the driveway, pool or beach.
Were you worried about any parts of the session beforehand? If so, what were the worries? Being the first time we were having professional photos, I was afraid it would be stressful to have everything look perfect even if it was falling apart behind the scenes.
Tell me about your favorite parts of our session, or why you enjoyed the session. It was nothing like how I feared. We had such a great time just being together, seeing my kids laughing with little tickles and just enjoying time as a family without distractions. Which sounds crazy since we were being photographed!
Tell me about the outfits you wore to the shoot. I decided to go with light colors and do the mini-me look. I found matching dresses for my daughter and I. My husband and son dressed casually in khaki shorts and white polos.
What are some words of wisdom you have for other families preparing for a session? Trust Kristine!! She will put you at ease and if you just take her advice and use this time in front of a camera to just focus on and enjoy your family, she will capture the beauty in that!

Claudia was diagnosed with breast cancer right before scheduling her session. On top of her family photos, she wanted to do some photos just for her before her treatment plan starts. Claudia said she felt so strong and empowered. This was ALL YOU, Claudia. I just took the photos. You.Are.STRONG! You’ve got this.

Extended Family Session | Worth Every Second

Susan contacted me wanting to do an extended family session while her daughter-in-law and granddaughter were in town visiting from Colorado. Susan’s daughter lives locally (I’ve known her through a close mutual friend for years!). She recently had a new baby boy, so there were many special reasons for this session. I wanted to do this session so badly, but I was leaving town and Susan’s family was coming into town. Luckily my plane didn’t head out until late afternoon, so we worked it out to where we could do the session that morning before I left!

We originally planned to do the session in an open field, but with all the Florida rain, it was very wet and muddy. Instead, we ended up at another close spot with a paved walkway so we didn’t have to worry about it being too wet. It was hot and muggy in true Florida fashion, but getting there and doing the session early helped some.

You would never know that this was the first time Stella and Emmitt had met each other. They seemed to be long-time best cousins! They were so cute playing together, and being so sweet holding baby Lincoln. I loved getting to capture Susan with some of her grandchildren. Although these aren’t all of her grandchildren (she has others that live out of town), you could just see the love oozing from her. She was soaking up every single moment she could spend with them.

What’s your favorite family activity? Any time we can be together! Which is almost impossible.
Tell me about your favorite parts of our session, or why you enjoyed the session. I really enjoyed having special memories of having Sarah here for the first time in many years and my Stella’s first visit to fla! Christina had not seen her since she was an infant and Josh had never met her. I also loved that Christina n Josh were able to capture some family photos.
Tell me about the outfits you wore to the shoot. We tried to keep it simple! I had bought cute little outfits for the kids and we tried to stay in the same color range! Can’t go wrong with Red/white/Blue.
What are some words of wisdom you have for other families preparing for a session? Relax, keep things as simple as possible and enjoy your time together! One of our favorites was the blanket game! You can see on the faces of both adults n kids, how much fun it was for all of us!

In Home Newborn Session | The Best By Far is You

Erin contacted me for an in home newborn session. We were all being cautious due to COVID, so only the session was in person. Everything else (consult/planning, Reveal session) was done via email/zoom to make it easier and safer during this time. Erin was due 5/17, so we were originally looking at the end of May, but baby Brody had other plans and he arrived April 25. More often than not, things do not go as planned with a newborn, so you always have to be prepared! I tell moms this all the time- we will tentatively schedule a date, but then be flexible if baby comes early! The same goes for the session itself- newborn sessions are baby led- it all depends how baby does. Erin had said, ‘Fingers crossed, we will have a nice happy and sleepy baby’- it worked! Baby Brody did FANTASTIC! He was fed and asleep right as I arrived, and he stayed asleep through his whole session! He was so cooperative and did so well, we were able to get all of the shots mom&dad wanted! They are a sports household- Erin works for the Tampa Bay Lightning, and dad Scott works for the Tampa Bay Rays, so getting a baseball and hockey themed photo was something they really wanted. Having a sports loving family myself, this was extra fun for me, too!

What’s the first thing that ran through your mind when you found out you were pregnant? SO excited!

What was the first thing you thought when you saw your baby for the first time? Love at first sight, no words can fully express that love!

Why you chose an in home session: Covid reasons, easy and comfortable with a newborn
What was your favorite part about our session together? The care that you took with Baby Brody. As a new mom I felt fully comfortable with you handling him and positioning for the photos, as you did it with so much comfort and care.
How did you prepare the baby for our photo shoot? Had him well fed, and fully asleep
Did you include a sentimental item in your shoot? What was it and why is it such a special item for you? We wanted to include the Rays & the Lightning since we work for the teams, and sports are a big part of our lives. A very special item was my husband’s AL Championship ring for the Rays. We hope to have a picture with my 2020 Stanley Cup ring (once I receive it). These are memories we will forever look back on and tell Brody about when he is older!
How was your experience having your newborn photographed? Were you nervous or worried before? How did it turn out? Based on all of the glowing reviews I read about Kristine, I had a great feeling about the shoot. However, with a 10 day old newborn you never know what to expect, and was so happy that he was a sleepy boy and did great!
What would be your advice to someone getting newborn photographs taken? Do the shoot in the recommended first 1-2 weeks, and if possible do it in your home! It provides much more comfort and takes away the stress of having to travel somewhere.

Tdachi Deni contacted me about Tampa professional headshots for her healthy living book that is in the process of being published! I’m always so excited and thankful to hear that I’ve been recommended, and I’m so incredibly grateful that Tdachi Deni chose me. We chatted a bit and she chose downtown Tampa for her location. She wanted a city feel for her book, and when she saw my work in some places in the city she fell in love. I loved talking with Tdachi while taking her photos- headshots are different than a family session and can sometimes feel awkward getting pictures of yourself taken. I’m glad I could help Tdachi feel comfortable and get these fun pictures of her that show her beauty and personality. She is the sweetest and I can’t wait to see the final outcome of her book! I was not worried at all. I was ready to have fun. You were amazing and I felt very comfortable posing for you.
Tell me about your favorite parts of our session, or why you enjoyed the session.
My favorite part was hanging out with you. You are such a sweet person and easy going. You made me feel like I knew you and made it easier for me to pose and feel comfortable.
Tell me about the outfit(s) you wore to the shoot (where you bought them, why you chose them, etc).
I wanted to be comfy and use neutral colors. I used that because my publisher told me to wear sport clothes so my readers can connect more with the content of my book.
What are some words of wisdom you have for others preparing for a Tampa professional headshot session?
Do not worry about your session. Kristine will be prepared for you. You just need to let go and enjoy the moment. Sometimes we worry about every single detail and then we realize the photoshoot is over. Enjoy and let things happen so Kristine can capture every memory.

Family Photo Session in Union Park | Gain by Giving Love

As the kiddos get older, it makes it harder and harder to get everyone together for a photo session. Nicole and Bryan have 2 kids in their 20s, and an 11 year old. Nicole contacted me wanting to schedule a family photo session in Union Park, but the day she could get everyone’s schedules aligned, I was out of town. Luckily, we were able to find another day that worked, and I’m so glad it did! Nicole chose this location because it it was close to home and she liked the background from other shoots I’ve done. It was a bit overcast, but clear which made for nice even light. Breyon, Breyonna, and Bryce – 11 were so much fun. It’s sometimes not as easy as it is with little kids, because they think I’m a fool and look at me like ‘You want me to do what?!’, lol. But they were all such good sports with a bit of fun and games with the family.

Family Photos at Curtis Hixon | Happy Memories

Shanard contacted me to setup a family session for his and his wife, Fran’s 12th anniversary. It’s usually the woman of a family contacting me, and the men in the family are usually not too excited about it, lol, so this was the sweetest. Jah’Rai (6 years old) and Symphonie (8 months old) were the cutest with coordinating hat and headband when they showed up for their family photos at Curtis Hixon. They chose this location because it is close to everything: the riverfront, city skyline, and even a playground for the littles after the session is finished. The day of the session was clear with scattered clouds, which worked perfectly for the little ones- it wasn’t way too hot or too bright. We started by the museums, down the stairs to the Riverwalk, then some play time in the grassy area of the park. I had fun playing with Jah’Rai and got some good laughs out of him. I’m very grateful to have met this sweet family. Happy Anniversary!!

I was worried that we wouldn’t be there on time or meet Kristine in the right location.

I loved that you knew where to position us, at the right spot and while capturing the city and sunset.

We chose white and blue outfits. They were bought at Marshalls and Old Navy. We chose these colors because they would stand out and be functional for the shoot.
What are some words of wisdom you have for other families preparing for a session?
Pick the right location, especially if you have kids so they can play and enjoy their time out. Have a theme, style for your shoot. When all else fails, just have fun.

Pre Prom Pictures | The Memory is Forever

I have known Anna and her family for years. My boys and Anna’s brother used to play baseball together, so I would always see Anna at the ball fields. I haven’t seen her in a long time, so it was wonderful to see her and her mom again, but man my jaw dropped when she stepped out of the car and I saw how much she had grown since last seeing her, and how beautiful she was for her pre prom pictures!

Anna is a senior at Wiregrass Ranch High School. They unfortunately were not having a prom this year because of COVID, so Anna, her mom, and friends planned a night for them to get dressed up, get pictures taken, go to dinner, then have a ‘prom’ back at their house! Ann got her dress from Nikki’s Glam and Glitz– she loved the blue color and and loved that the cut was original. She was going for a classic/glamorous look and I think she nailed it! This was her first session with her boyfriend that lives out of state, and she loved that her friends were a part of it as well!

Anna plans to attend Tallahassee Community College and then FSU to major in criminal justice. Her advice for other seniors getting their pictures taken= Be yourself.

Family Photos with Older Children | Making Memories

Another wonderful family I have known for years and finally got the chance to take pictures for them! Brian and my boys played soccer together back in 2013- SEVEN years ago! The boys are all in HIGH SCHOOL together. HOW?! Cheryl wanted to get some family photos while her oldest daughter was home from college. Most of the sessions I do are with little kiddos, so it’s nice when doing family photos with older children. The session goes a little different- no singing, dancing, and jumping around like a crazy person to get little’s attention, but I love the end results all the same!

Photo Session for Teen | So Much More

Celly wanted to do something special with, and for her daughter. I think this was the perfect idea, obviously, lol. Celly booked a photo session for teen. She and her teenage daughter spent a morning with me. We took some photos of the two of them together, and some of her daughter alone. Celly wanted her daughter to have fun and feel special, and I think we accomplished just that!
