“Following contact received from Carlos Tevez’s advisors last night, in advance of the deadline the Club set for concluding negotiations, Manchester United announces that Carlos will not be signing a new contract with the Club.

“The Club agreed to pay the option price of £25.5m and offered Carlos a five-year contract which would have made him one of its highest paid players.

“Disappointingly however, his advisors informed the Club that, despite the success he has enjoyed during one of the Club’s most successful periods, he does not wish to continue playing for Manchester United.

“The Club would like to thank Carlos for his services over the last two seasons and wishes him good luck for the future.”

It was a disappointing news for us as we all know what Carlos could bring to this team especially now with Ronaldo is going to Real Madrid. Well, I guess Tevez has already made up his mind that unless a guaranteed first team is in place (and with Manchester United sourcing around the world for a world class striker), he won’t settle for a bench for another season.

Is this the right decision for Tevez? Well, only time could tell but history has shown many times that most of the times players who’s at their peak or reaching their would come out a lesser player after they left Manchester United, but then again Manchester United also needs a few years before come out on top again (remember anyone Beckham to Madrid, and we need a few years before overcoming Chelsea?)

Sooner or later this will happen, but I was a little surprised that the whole thing unfold in lightning speed and without lots of “my dream to play in Spain” and the similar kind of “rants” from our World Player of the Year. But, nevertheless it was a good money for Manchester United and for all the things that CR has done for Man Utd, it’s good for both sides to move on.

The team now is great and I personally think we’re poised to dominate the English league for many years to come with the additions of probably a strong center forward, one midfielder, and another fullback. The departure of Ronaldo will give a different kind of Manchester United next year because it’ll be even more of team game (remember when Ruud van Nistelrooy left?) and I guess this opens the door for Carlos Tevez to stay and STAR in the team (which is his primary reason he wanted to leave).

Anyway, the whole deal is not wrapped up yet and I’m still a little puzzled with Real Madrid two world records fee in the space of week. Nevertheless, it’ll be business as usual for Manchester United as Sir Alex has proven many times no one is bigger than United, and whoever wish to leave will be granted his wishes when the time is right (well and when the economy incentives is right).
