Search system: An organization that possesses a combination of software, hardware, and people that is used to index or categorize Web sites — they build the index or directory you search through at a search site. Google is a search system, but AOL.com and EarthLink.com are not. In fact, if you goto AOL.com or EarthLink.com and search, you actually get Google search results.

The term search engine has become the predominant term for search system or search site, but before reading any further, you need to understand the different types of search, um, thingies, you’re going to run across.

Basically, you need to know about four thingies:

1. Search indexes or search engines: These are the predominant type of search tools you’ll run across. Originally, the term search engine referred to some kind of search index, a huge database containing information from individual Web sites. Google’s vast index (http://www.google.com/ ) contains over 3 billion pages, for instance. Large search-index companies own thousands of computers that use software known as spiders or robots (or just plain bots — Google’s software is known as Googlebot) to grab Web pages and read the information stored in them. These systems don’t always grab all the information on each page or all the pages in a Web site, but they grab a significant amount of information and use complex algorithms to index that information. Google is the world’s most popular search engine.

2. Search directories: A directory is a categorized collection of information about Web sites. Rather than containing information from Web pages, it contains information about Web sites. The most significant search directories are owned by Yahoo! (http://www.dir.yahoo.com/) and the Open Directory Project (http://www.dmoz.org/). Directory companies don’t use spiders or bots to download and index pages on the Web sites in the directory; rather, for each Web site, the directory contains information such as a title and description. The two most important directories, Yahoo! and Open Directory, have staff members who examine all the sites in the directory to make sure they are placed into the correct categories and meet certain quality criteria. Smaller directories often allow people submitting sites to specify which category should be used.

3. Non-spidered indexes: I wasn’t sure what to call these things, so I made up a name: non-spidered indexes. A number of small indexes, less important than the major indexes such as Google, don’t use spiders to examine the full contents of each page in the index. Rather, the index contains background information about each page, such as titles, descriptions, and keywords. In some cases, this information comes from the meta tags pulled off the pages in the index. In other cases, the person who enters the site into the index provides this information.

4. Pay-per-click systems: Some systems provide pay-per-click listings. Advertisers place small ads into the systems, and when users perform their searches, the results contain some of these sponsored listings, typically above and to the right of the free listings.

How to set up Google Analytics on Blogger blog:

Google Analytics is a service for tracking your traffic. It will show you information about your visitors: from where did they came to your blog, what keywords they was using in search engines (to find your blog), from that back links they came from, the countries where they live, landing pages etc.

How to setup Google Analytics:

1. First of all, you need to have Google account. Just go to Google and create it. After that, go to Google Analytics page and sign in and click sign up.

2. Enter your blog URL, account name, choose your country and click "Continue".

3. Enter your last name (optional), first name (optional), telephone (optional), country, click "Continue".

4. Read the following terms and conditions bla bla bla (optional =)))), check the checkbox, and click "Create new Account".

5. Now you will get a code. You need to put it in to your blog template. Go to your blogger account --> Layouts --> Edit HTML --> Backup your blog. Copy and paste the code into the bottom of your content, immediately before the </body> tag . Save your template. Go back to Analytics page and click "Continue".

Some times you need to add multiple administrators for your blog (if you and your friends want to make posts on the same blog or if you want to move your blog to another account or if you want to change the owner of blog).

Adding multiple administrators to your blog is not hard but lot of people don't know how to do this.

Adding multiple administrators to your blog:

1. Go to your blog Dashboard --> Settings --> Permissions.
2. Click "Add Authors".
3. Enter the email address (-es) of your new administrator(-s).
4. They need to check their e-mails and click on the link to join the blog.
5. Go to Dashboard --> Settings --> Permissions and promote newcomers to administrators.

How about 5 easy tips about how to get your blog on the first page of Google? Yeah, I see you are shaking your head and smiling. I think you are understand that if your blog will get on the first page of Google - you will get much more traffic to your blog, because bigger part of Google users use only first page of Google search results. That's why it is so important to get on the first page of search results. Believe me or not, but this method is working. For example, I have a collective social blog (or community) where everyone can make their own posts, share articles, tips, reviews and knowledge - Mocii.com, most of the posts are about Tech/Gadgets, reviews, how to's. It is also useful because you can submit an unique article there and put backlinks to your blog or posts from your blog (link will be without nofollow tag). So, all my posts on Mocii.com are on the first page of Google search results (most of them in Top 5, some of them on the first position!)

5 Tips - How to Get Your Blog on the First Page of Google:

Submit posts with unique content. Your blog content must be unique, content is a king! Do not steal content from other blogs, Google will see everything! If you really like someone's post, you can re-wright it. Your content must be 99% unique. Don't wright every hour, it is too much. Submit 1-3 posts / day and keep this tempo.
After you will create 10 posts on your blog, you must add your blog sitemap (rss) to Google Sitemap. Swap Blog Title and Post Title on Blogger

Your template is invalid because the tag 'b:section' appears inside of the tag 'head'. This error appears because of Swap of your blog title and post title on Blogger hack. I think there was some changes on Blogger. To fix that error, you need to do the same hack: Swap of your blog title and post title, but with some changes.

Just follow the steps:

1. Go to dashboard ==> 'Layout'==> 'Edit HTML' and backup your template.

2. Find this line: <title><data:blog.pageTitle/><title> and delete it.

3. Find <head> code and put this code BEFORE <head> :

PS:

I'm not recommending you to do this hack, because, usually, Title code must be after <head>. So I don't know what kind of effect it will give to you. I think it is better do use simple basic <title><data:blog.pageTitle/><title> code.

1. Go to your Blogger Dashboard and click 'Layouts'.

2. After that click 'Edit HTML' and first of all - backup your template by clicking 'Download Full Template'.

3. Now you need to find CSS Style of your header, just find this line :

Change width of blog in Blogger, one of the question what my readers often ask me. Well, changing blog width is not so hard. Width is one of the main part of your blog design. You must to choose correct width for your blog first. Standard width of your blog in Blogger is - 660 px.

If you want to change it, just follow my small tutorial:

1. Go to your Blogger Dashboard and click 'Layout'.

2. Click 'Edit HTML'.

3. Now Backup your template by clicking 'Download full Template'.

4. Now you need to find CSS Style for your blog body. Just find this line :

5. There mast be Width: 660px parameter under that line. Just change it to your width. (#outer-wrapper is default CSS name of blog body parameters, but if you are using template what was designed by someone, this parameter can have different name. Usually its situated after #body parameter, the name can be: #page, #blog, #blogbody or something like that).

6. After changing , preview your blog by clicking 'Preview' button. If everything is OK - click 'Save Template'.

You can get backlinks by answering on Yahoo! Answers. Because of Yahoo! Answers made by Yahoo! - your answer with backlink will be loved by search engines. Y! Answers ranked highly enough on low-competitive keywords and this is a gold mine for you =). In addition, Yahoo! Answers daily passes a huge amount of traffic, you should put a good answer with backlink in the popular theme and you will get a good part of this traffic. Moreover, it is not just the traffic, this is targeted traffic, which is better then search engines traffic.

If you do not have an Yahoo! account, please, register (the same account you will use on Flickr and other Yahoo! services) and login.

First of all, you need to find a question for your keyword. For example, lets take keyword "speed reading" , type it in search field.

Blogger Posts title Optimization for Search Engines

Blogger blogs not well optimized for search engines and you need to fix that. One of the things that is not optimized are Titles of your all posts in Blogger blogs.

Usually title looks like this : Title of your blog : Title of post

It is wrong! For better SEO you need to have: Title of post : Title of your blog

Lets fix that:

1. Go to blogger dashboard, click 'Layout' and 'Edit HTML'

2. Find this line: <title><data:blog.pageTitle/><title>

3. Replace that line to this one :

4. Save your changes.

Done, now you have better optimized title of your blog posts. Cheers

There are lot of Search Engine Optimization methods and its hard to do them all. This is a small list of things, what you need to do then starting new blog or web-site. Soon I will wright about every part of this list.

1. You must have robots.txt file.

2. You must submit your sitemap to search engines

3. Off-load functionality code (javascript, css, etc.)

4. Use SEO friendly page titles.

5. Use proper meta tags.

How to add your blogger blog sitemap to your Google Webmaster tools ? - my blog readers often ask me this question. Unfortunately, Blogger blogs don't have real sitemap and you can't create it. But do you know that your RSS or Atom feed are some kind of sitemap?

'Why do I need to add sitemap to Google?' - Well, the short answer is : it will help Google to crawl your blog pages better and faster.

You can add your RSS feed to Google Webmaster Tools and Google will use it like sitemap of your blog.

How to add sitemap (RSS) to Google Webmaster Tools

1. Go to your Webmaster Tools

2. Your blog mast be added to Google webmaster tools, if not - read How to add Blogger blog to Google

3. Welcome back! ok, now choose your blog in webmaster tools dashboard (click on the link)

4. Go to 'Sitemaps' , and click 'Add a Sitemap'. Choose type: 'Add General Web Sitemap' and in the field put 'rss.xml' () . Click 'Add General Web Sitemap'.

5. Done, Cheers...
