Well, I had my first final this morning at 8am. It was my anatomy final and I already know how I did on it because they are very quick to get them graded! It's pretty incredible. They (our lecture and lab professors) graded and put our grades up on WebCT (our online site with our gradebook) an hour and a half after we started the exam. It probably took an hour at most for everyone to finish, so yeah, that's fast. I wish all professors were that quick to grade tests! Anyway, it went well so I'm happy. :)

The weekend went really fast. It's already Monday and today's final is over. I'm going to study o. chem the rest of the day and I should probably fit some philosophy in there, too. I have those two finals tomorrow and then it's HOME FOR 27 DAYS!!!

We went out to eat at Applebee's Friday night to celebrate Nikki's birthday, which was fun and a great study break. I have a funny story... At the restaurant, we were all eating and having a jolly time and then I happened to find a weird-shaped, rubbery white thing in my three cheese chicken penne pasta. I couldn't figure out what it was, all I knew was that it was some sort of rubber (about half the size of a fifty cent piece). I didn't see any more of it in my pasta, so I figured it was still fine to eat. Everyone said I should tell the waitress, so I did. She had a really puzzled look on her face and felt bad, so she took it away and brought me a new one. Then the manager stopped by our table to make sure I got new pasta and he was determined to figure out where the rubber came from. So he must have gone back to the kitchen, because he came back and told me that the spatula they were using broke and there was a chunk (the same size I found in my food) missing from it. Haha! Anyway, the best part is they gave me my entire meal for free!! I wouldn't have expected them to do that, but it was sure nice. :)

That was the extent of fun for my weekend. I basically studied the rest of it away. Well, I better get back to studying now. I'm super nervous for my o. chem final!!! Wish me luck! And good luck to all of you who are in the same boat as me...finals week!

I handed in my women's lit. final essay today, so I have three finals left.

I'm most nervous for my o. chem final. Our professor held a study session tonight from five to seven and it was really helpful. Most science professors here have study sessions for us before tests, which is extremely nice. It's two hours where you can ask the professor questions about what you're learning about and they will explain it and give you problems to practice relating to it. It comes in quite handy for o. chem.

Finals start tomorrow and I don't have any, so I get to work and study all day. So, I think I'll go to bed early tonight, get up somewhat early tomorrow morning, work the rest of my hours for the week, and study the day away. Sound like fun? Well, Christmas break is my motivation right now, so the studying must be done before I can go on break. Have a spectacular Friday, everyone!

Five days til Christmas! It's so exciting to see the semester coming to an end. Two of my finals are done as of tonight. I took my anatomy lab practical on Tuesday, like I mentioned before, and I'm very pleased with my score. I finished up my women's lit. final essay tonight and it feels great to be done with it! I think I'll hand that in tomorrow. It isn't due until Friday but I might as well turn it in early so I don't have to get up early on Friday to do so.

Besides turning in my essay, I have my last o. chem lab of the semester tomorrow morning. Finals week technically starts this Friday and ends on Tuesday, so it's only three days of finals instead of the usual four to five days. I guess it's kind of messed up this year... Anyway, we don't have regular classes on Friday so I get to sleep in and spend the day studying. It works out nicely. :)

I was pleasantly surprised when I checked my mailbox today. I got a card from my family (mom, dad, brother, and sister). It's really nice and perfectly fitting for me right now, with the stress of finals and wish to be home for break. All of my classes were really interesting today. I'm not sure why they were more interesting than usual, but they were. So, it was a good day and the card from my family made it even better!

Well, I'm still worried about the final and I still want to be home for Christmas break, but I can see the end of the semester now and I couldn't before. I'll be home a week from tomorrow!!!

After tomorrow, I'll only have three final tests and a final essay left. My final essay is due Friday. I take my anatomy final at 8am next Monday, o. chem at 10am on Tuesday, and philosophy is at noon on Tuesday. I think my philosophy final will be easy for the most part, so I really only have two finals to worry about.

I take my first ever anatomy lab practical tomorrow at noon. My roommate, Britteny, and I played Christmas duets on our clarinets at a party for the Admissions/Education department in Somers Main Lounge. We played for 20 minutes right after band rehearsal was done, so that was convenient. Other people from band put together little ensembles and played for the party, as well, for 20 minute increments. Free food afterward was just a little bonus. :) I had my interview at 7:00pm and then Amanda and I reviewed all of the bones and muscles that we've learned so far this semester. It was surprising how quickly we recovered the information, which is definitely a good thing!

And I have an anat. and phys. final Monday the 21st, an o. chem final the 22nd, and a philosophy final the 22nd (3 finals). Then it's Christmas break!!! (a Partridge in a Pear Tree) Haha! :)

Nothing too interesting has happened lately. I've been studying like a mad person these past few days. I'm ready for a break, but as you can see, I have a lot left before that can happen! I bet you're all getting really excited for a break, too. It's just that time of year, I think.

Let's see... Amanda and I studied in the cadaver lab again today. We have our anatomy quiz on the muscles and other fun stuff of the hip and leg. It was really interesting for me to study these muscles. I was able to see two muscles, the tensor fasciae latae and the gluteus minimus, that I tore my junior year of high school during cross country. It's kind of a mystery as to how I tore them. It happened during the middle of an intense workout that consisted of 400-meter repeats. 400-meter repeats involve running one lap around the track at race-pace with about a minute of rest in between each one. We used to do about 8 or more of these. Let's just say...they weren't my favorite. So, it's cool that I'm able to see and touch muscles that I've injured but only heard the names of. :)

I guess that's my interesting story of the day! I better get studying... Have a terrific Tuesday, everyone!

It's Friday tomorrow...woo-hoo! I'm really not that excited because I'll be studying the weekend away. There are only 18 days left of this semester. That's two full weeks of classes and two days of finals. Now that's what I'm excited about!!!!!! :)

I have a test on the anatomy and physiology of the heart tomorrow, but it's mostly on the physiology aspect (how it works). I feel very prepared for it, so I hope I'm pleasantly surprised with a score of 100%. I've probably studied more for this test than I have for our previous three tests put together. This stuff was more complicated than that other stuff, though. We'll see how it goes...

My parents are coming up Saturday night for the cross country banquet. So that should be fun! I can't wait to see them again, even though I just saw them over Thanksgiving. It will be the only "fun" part of my weekend.

Let's see, has anything interesting happened in my life recently? I don't think so. I guess it was pretty interesting in the cadaver lab tonight. Amanda and I were studying the muscles, arteries, veins, and nerves of the leg. It wasn't as cool as the heart, though. Oh, here's something neat! As of today, I am on the bone marrow registry for donating. I filled out a form and swabbed the inside of my cheek and now I'm registered. If I'm a match for anyone in need of bone marrow, which is probably unlikely (but you never know!), I will be able to possibly save someone's life. Cool, huh? I think so. If any of you are interested, I'm sure you can become possible donors, too. The name of the organization I'm registered for is called "DKMS" and a link to there website is: www.dkmsamericas.org

This week is over halfway done and I haven't blogged once! I guess that shows how busy I've been... Before I get into that, I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I sure did. It was so nice to be with my family and to relax. The thing is, I probably shouldn't have relaxed as much as I did, because I have soooo much work to do. The end of the semester is rapidly approaching and everything seems to be piling up because there isn't enough time! It was a very nice break from studying and I probably needed it, especially since it's my main focus for the next two and a half weeks.

I have no clue when my next philosophy test is...probably soon. :S If there weren't so many tests before the actual finals, it wouldn't be so frustrating...

Moving on, I'm applying to go on an Alternative Spring Break (ASB) trip. I just filled out the application actually. There are three different trips where you spend spring break doing service projects in under-served communities. The locations for this year include Guatemala (where I want to go!), Kentucky, and Chicago. I've always wanted to go to a Spanish-speaking country and I think it would be a really neat experience to go to Guatemala. After looking through applications, they select people to interview. Intense, huh? I suppose they want to make sure people are really committed to going and actually want to go for the right reasons. I suppose I should say who "they" are. They're the Campus Ministry people. It's a group on campus that organizes mass here at the college and service projects and activities, like the ASB trips. We'll see if they pick me... :)
