Which Are You?...

If you were to provide a quick response to the above question, what would your answer be? Do you know the difference? Do I know the difference? A good place to start is for me to answer this question. I can see over the years I have been both, which has served and been a detriment to me at the same time. There are times I should have led when I should have followed and managed when I should have been managed. This brings up a key question that need to be examined. What is the difference between the two and how could this 'knowing' effect my future actions, relationships and outcomes to situations and events? I think the answer lays in self-management, not with others. If a person will self manage themselves they are then able to lead. Managing others only leads to co-dependency because others will always fall back to you to help them manage what they choose to not manage themselves. This then makes you feel responsible to others success or failure. On the other hand, if you take sovereignty back (being totally responsible for yourself) and lead from this authority of self others will want to follow or be around you for this energy. Then they will want to do the same, start to leading, following your example, being responsible for self. You then can allow / follow (as a great leader) the leaders around you put their own 'footprint' on matters that are theirs to own and operate. You then do only what is proper as your own leader of self tending to the details (management) that are your own, self management. I believe a great self manager is a great leader to the world. Go out and self manage yourself today, okay? You will become a great leader in your home, community, business and nation. You will find many thing in your environment change because of your change in thinking. Surprise yourself. It then stands to reason that a high degree of intellect and coherent emotion are working very well together to make a quick assessment of which is proper action at any given moment. I saw a great example of this watching Trumps 'Apprentice' last night. Amarosa was team leader on the losing team. They were required to come up with a highly creative, branded window dressing at a department store showcasing enjoying laying in bed(for a mattress company). Their team decided to do a traditional wedding scene with the happy couple parading around the bed in delight, while the winning team(from the men) came up with Cleopata and her 'king' in rich lounging attire, being served wine, etc. by a servant with cellphones, laptops at their side, merging the old with the new. One of Amarosa's teammates(the Hollywood Guru) was 'fired' in the boardroom for apparently not having enough 'creativity' to aid with the right decision to make this event highly special and unique for the judges, and therefore following her 'leaders' decision. Amarosa said in the boardroom she thought they asked all the right questions and fully understood what was right for the task. One of the members on Amarosa's team made the following comment while preparing their showcase window- 'When someone's impassioned with their vision, they inspire people to follow them'. She believed their 'leader' was right on the money and they would win the task! She followed without using critical thinking. She made an assumption that following the 'leaders' path would naturally attain success. And they lost and she got fired!
I think one of the most critical attributes of a true leader is to quickly assess the truth of a given situation, and act quickly with all the displays of courage and boldness needed to see it through the right way. They would not follow the 'pack' with the assumption everything is okay. I think "when everything is just okay, you're living in the gray". Get smart quick, know when to lead, know when to follow, and always stay out of the gray...
Have a great day everyone. Just ask Warren Buffet. Master, mentor and billionaire extraordinaire. He is the ultimate Fundamental Relationship Projectionist! His history and success, in my opinion, is largely based on the relationships he has with people, namely long term, permanent business relationships. He does not trade stock or follow the market day to day. Anyone and Everyone who learned from him, followed his advice, and listened then piggy-back invested in his Berkshire Hathaway, made millions following his trust and advice. Had computers been used back then, these same people seeking through the 'net' surfing for a 'king' of investment (a virtual advisor) back when he started, none of them may have attained any level of financial success whatsoever. You see, he personally mentored under a highly successful investor, and build a strong relationship up and out from that. His integrity, authentic desire to use non-emotional decisions based on people and company strength, and not the market whims and flimsy ideas, built the foundation of growth into what he is and has attained today. And we all want to be like him without the years needed to accomplish it.

I think this is why many of us fail at ventures today in the technological world we live. Millions want to sell something/anything over the internet, buy into template cookie cutter affiliate programs, buy into outsourced ideas and programs. WHAT we sell is almost not important as the art of selling your 'SPECIAL' SYSTEM, all virtual! No relationships with people, just relationships with systems. This is why a master of direct marketing said recently it is the era of looking for diamonds in a great 'sea of poverty'. There are NO diamonds to be found there!

Also, we seem to now going about our business with the believe direct relationships are not as important as virtual one's Don't believe me? Just go on the net and see how many people that you will never meet that want to sell you something or into anything, even virtual nothingness, a virtual abyss. Let's set the record straight...true relationships cannot be 'bought or outsourced.' Did you get that? Relationships cannot be bought or outsourced! When you go out to meet people, shake their hand, chat a while, enjoy some time with coffee, ask a few questions, and enjoy someone's company no one can embrace that moment except the person/people experiencing it. Rapport builds with trust and integrity. And out from that can grow an expansive partnership which may include business.

A very wealthy businessman says this path of direct relationships can grow an enormous amount of wealth, much much larger than any derivative outsourced program a lot of internet guru's try to suck you into! So if you want a lot of money, wealth and riches in your life, join the ultra successful and live the 'good' life, then get out and market yourself and your ideas, seek out fundamental healthy relationships with everyone you can in your area, and watch the magic happen to you!
Until the next WebLog...

Will The real ME please stand up...

Hello everyone and welcome to a great new year 2008 and my first blog for the new year! So many things have changed in today's high tech environments that allow, encourage, foster and grow, virtual altered versions of the self that may or may not reflect the real person. Most humans do not want to feel 'left behind' to anything new, especially on the web. We have a need to follow what is 'current', even if it is to our detriment, both personally and financially. Let me explain. As we all know there is huge growth in online social networks, facebook, youtube, classmate websites, adult sites, gambling sites, to name just a few. When choosing to do e-business or a direct marketing business on the net the options are so wide and diverse so as to allow you many virtual possibilites. Many companies capitalize on this need of the small online business person wanting to make money through the net. The largest growing trend, buzz and direction of the net is to grow a 'pipeline' of virtual prospects from many sources 'out there' interested in what you want to sell, then pipelined direct to you, all done virtually. It is the new world of viral marketing. There are many flaws with this type of marketing that for most people will lead them to poverty. Firstly, you do not need to care anything about the 'real' person including there real name, as long as you get an email address, they are a contact prospect. Another consideration with this type of marketing is getting this pipeline growing by keeping lots of fresh leads (prospects) attracted to your web page and follow through to become a long term client, buyer. Very very few people have positioned themselves on the web with strong pipelines attracting prospects, resulting in what is known as 'lead poverty'. This is where 'affiliate' programs, lead generation companies and derivative programs come into play. Web sharks operate these programs and, mark my words, make huge sums of money, have powerfully positioned themselves (with everyone elses money- there own teams monies!). Want proof? In google, type in names like DONALD TRUMP or RICHARD BRANSON and look on the righthand bar who the top sponsored links are. These are just some of the guys operating these programs. The click throughs are extremely expensive for the average individual to capitalize on but cheap for the affiliate companies, which make you sign up, pay $40.00 per month to access, then add many other $charges for splash pages, web pages, templates, $5.00- $40.00 per prospect lead, to name just a few. (One side note- a multi-millionaire 20 year veteran networker says there are very few, if any great leads from these programs and it is all a waist of money!) You could easily seduced into 20 or 30 sub programs from the original company you got involved with from all the 'leaders' on your so called team. When you join these so called 'teams of professionals' you are forced to 'follow' their leadership and DUPLICATE what they tell you to do. When you do not (maybe because you cannot afford it) the person(s) who attracted you to the online opportunity most times will not communicate with you anymore nor aid your new business. DO YOU SEE WHAT IS REALLY HAPPENING? Remember also most rarely do you ever meet all these so called professional team members unless you pay great sums to attend their holiday functions. This brings me back to my 20 year veteran marketer. He made huge sums of money over the years by doing only 2 simple things that work, meet and talk to real people! He does not use technology in TODAYS marketplace to make a fortune. Did you hear that? He states that the $300,000+ monthly earners do their business that way. If you are serious about making a fortune on the net with a direct marketing business you always have the option of following the crowd into the new virtual world trends or do it the old fashion way, by being yourself, authentic, real, meeting real people in need of a better life. It's that simple. If you walk into a room and see an odd looking guy standing and chatting to people its probably me, being real. Come shake my hand, then I'll know the real you? How great is that? Meet you soon...
Until the next WebLog...

You Only Have To Be Right Once...

'It doesn't matter how many times you fail. It doesn't matter how many times you almost get it right. No one is going to know or care about your failures, and either should you. All you have to do is learn from them and those around you because...All that matters in business is that you get it right once. Then everyone can tell you how lucky you are.'

Who said this? The multi-billionaire Mark Cuban. This was at the end of a blog Mark Cuban wrote about his attaining ultimate success- when he hit the MARK! (okay, I promise no more puns!) He stated that no one ever asked anything about his previous many ventures in the pursuit of success only to end in 'failures'- and they started from a young age. But when you strike 'gold', drill a 'oil gusher', buy a stock early that goes through the roof, etc. everyone around you claims it to be 'luck'. Silence is profound until you hit pay dirt! Then everyone around you speaks about you like it was just overnight luck. It is other like-kind people who really understand the years of trial and error, dedication, effort, 'stick-to-it'ness, the confidence and belief that you can and will attain your greatness somewhere, somehow, it's just a matter of time.

I remember another famous person in the music industry who said the 'mike' (your voice, fortune, etc.) only goes by you once. If you miss it you are out of luck. If any successful person had believed that they would have never had the courage to keep going. If Mark Cuban had believed this he would never attained what he did, he would not be a wealthy happy guy.

I say to you, do not ever give up. Do not ever give in to the voices of mediocrity, the negative people who silently live in the shadows of life and loud with rumors and murmurs when someone sticks out of the mud and rises into the light of greatness and fortune, then tells the whole world of your 'luck, overnight success'. Martha Stewart said it well in her recent book that 'opportunites will always keep coming to you all your life'. The point is all missed one's are just the setup for the next one, your next opportunity. DO NOT EVER GIVE UP.

You only have to be right once...

Until the next WebLog...

Is A Thinker Really a Thinker? Something to think about...

'C K Prahalad, India-born management guru and academician, has been voted the world's most influential living management thinker ahead of hands-on managers like Bill Gates, Alan Greenspan and Richard Branson. Prahalad, who is the first Indian-origin thinker to claim the title, was ranked number three in last year's Thinkers 50 list brought out by Suntop Media.'

This is the opening headlines of a recent article on the web. What importance does this have, who does it effect, what does it exactly mean. And who decided this and what criteria was used? And to who's benefit is it I believe this to be true? This is certainly something to think about. But does it hold substance? Is it accurate to the real world?

The words that the caught my eye, stood out from the rest from the headline, was 'management guru and academician'. That suggests to me that management and intellect is at the top of importance for global economic dominance and leadership that can eradicate poverty. That sends out red flags to me that rise higher than the hay in the fields! The very implication is that management means primarily 'people resources'. This further means corralling, funneling and directing people (managing) for commercial, global, economic purposes that we are told is 'good'. When you really think on it accurately, if someone else manages 'you', you will always be limited to the design and formulation of your life from the outside influences, a MANAGER. It is a master-slave relationship. Hence if you are allowing yourself and your life to be influenced and directly from an outside 'source' you will be a slave to the relationship, always managed. By managed also has historically proved over the years to only pay a limited cap on one's ability to earn money, produce income. The real wealth always funnels up to the top because the design of the corporate structure is a pyramid shape vs. a lateral design. Just read the fine print or listen to the 'gurus'. The CEO makes the most money, next the President(s), layers of Managers, then at the bottom of the structure, the folks being 'MANAGED'- the employees. Do you notice that CEO's, CFO's (the Financial Officer) and public relations people in the same companies not only manage the people, systems, structure, and goods sold interally but also manage the message- all outsiders. They even call it corporate governance. The only piece of the action most people ever get out of this is owning some form of shares... The all blessed phrase 'shareholder value'. The one that leaves YOU with the impression that YOU are the important one in the entire chain. So the answer to the question, 'To who's benefit is it I believe this to be true?' in this case is the corporate structure with one one specifically to blame or make accountable. It does a great job of keeping the structure in place with the most people resources at the bottom of the pyramid- the employees. The ones who make the least amount of money with no influence or decision making.
Would it not be a great thing to have a 'great leader and lateral thinker' amongst us, influencing the world than a 'great mangement and academician'? Was perhaps Gandi and Mother Teresa in this category, just to name a few? These people revolutionised systems and structures in place for a better society, world, with people being first importance in the chain, not last. These people understood poverty and the implications of it from the front lines, the human level. Further the passion of purpose they displayed was from deep conviction to make the world a better place, raise the consciousness and awareness.
It was recently said if you want to change poverty choose to not live in poverty yourself. To think about that and choose that is to become the master over the only domain you can control- YOURSELF. Only a corporate structure that benefits everyone, is lateral, and equal to all, fair, and unlimited in wealth to all people who put a high degree of effort in, can profit everyone- equally. The person who needs to become the expert on 'thinking stuff' is yourself.
I promise to do some thinking on this.
Until the next blog...

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://skychariot.blogspot.com/2007/11/is-thinker-really-thinker-something-to.html' title='Is A Thinker Really a Thinker? The honey bee pollinates just about every type of plant, vegetable and fruit in the fields of mankind. We do not only depend on the bee for honey. We need the honey bee to do the natural thing.. to seed the fields of foods in just about every food group available to man! If this does not happen we do not eat, period! The very makeup of the bee is amazing alone. They are designed so as to know which way the sun is, perform a dance that is in itself unbeelievable to show all the other bees how far, how fast, how high, how long to fly to get a source of food for the hive, how to protect the queen bee, the purpose and action of the worker bees, the purpose and action of the 'drones'... the list is so far reaching to nature that comes right back to effect everyone of us directly- our mouths. Whether we realize it or not today, we will know the truth very soon, as we will not have the food the bee has provided since the beeginning of time. The bee's are not even going back to the hive anymore, which means only one thing, death. We simply will not have the organic natural foods from the land of plenty to eat! Because there will not bee any! So now what??? Who, what is to blame? Why is this happening? Is it as profound as what the documentary revealed? Is it what is in our environment? A virus(s) and/or other health issues? Compromised immune system? Greed of the bee keepers and commercial operators? A mixture of some/all of these? Why is man's head down and we seem to not be aware of this siuation, which could be a tragedy on a global far reaching scale affecting our eating supply and nutrients? How did we let this get so far along on what could be an irreversible path, the death of one of natures wonderous seed planters and food suppliers. Why is it we are not paying attention to this serious problem...until a documentary reveals it as a serious problem? Is there something in all of us that we are so focused on ourselves, a narcisistic nation only focused on our own needs & greeds, our own desires, our own personal problems, our own personal wealth or lack of, our own personal illnessness/health issues, our, our, our, etc? Have we forgot the simple truth that nature has her way with the universe and inhabitants therein? She governs and corrects all negligence, all inverted perspectives and seductive spins away from of her truths. We are not getting the picture she must correct it all, as she governs everything below it, which is everything, including you and I. I, like many of you hope this can bee corrected and returned to it's natural state, or honey at the kitchen table as weel as many other foods we take for granted will bee no longer there.
Until the next post...

Robots, Mascots, Cookie Cutters & Templates

Yesterday was a day with a revealing nature to the thinking and planning that occurs when there is no more thinking and planning going on. A businessman I know told me of his plans to develop a marketing plan for a real estate development that will be based on templates. In other words, a cookie cutter system. He believes he is putting together what he referrred to as a great 'team of professionals' to aid in the growth of his move with his company. This company is going in brand new territory, untapped directions that have a lot of risk and unknowns. It has an upside of the possibility to make some people a lot of money but at a tremendous lose if it does not go to fruition, which is highly probable in a depressed over inflated real estate market. When this businessman was talking to me he said they are going to put together a 'template' to quickly know if a given subject property would fit into the mold of this development, if it doesn't fit it is a no go. My first reaction was to think this was a great idea, make it quick, efficient, therefore effective. Later reflecting on what he told me, it hit me. THERE ARE NO TEMPLATES or historical references to go by when going new directions. Even websites built with templates are average at best, it is the ones done in wordpad that begin with the true creative, inuitive process. Even after hitting the finish line with a project does not create a 'good' template, only references as guidance. J.Paul Getty said it best when charting new territory, to paraphrase, 'There are certain guide posts enroute to aid the entrepeneur but every step forward is new in every undertaking, venture.' To hear the truth from a billionaire's years of experience is to much to not be brushed over, overlooked and not validated as truth...which can be the only true guidepost. To get back to my businessman, I can see clearly he is so focused on his belief it is simply a matter of developing a cookie cutter system with a so called team of experts, a system a 'dummy could master' that the money will just keep flowing into the bank continually. I have met with some of his so called team of 'experts' and I can assure you everyone has the same look on their face. It's a case of ' show me the money, because I am the expert.' There are very few visionairies, pioneers, highly creative people willing to put themselves on the line with a goal of a greater expanding outward. It is the difference between the Innovator and the Opportunist. The opportunist 'sees' an opportunity, makes it seem easy, predictable, with a short cut to the top, a 'just give me mine as soon as possible, it was my idea, and you guys can share in some of my idea'. Then we want, no expect consumers to buy into our greatness with our cookie cutter pieces which are really only small fragments of a whole, but at a premium price. Then further want people to buy into like a robot, without doing a lot of thinking, because what we have is the 'greatest' thing ever developed. And to do this actually use OTHER PEOPLES MONEY to develop the concept-idea, then charge a large premium to have a piece. The truth is amazing. When we buy something we always are attracted by the balloons and mascotts, and then are willing to pay the 'price' believing we have recieved 'value'. All in the name of 'fresh' 'new', etc. when it is further from the truth than we could imagine.
True innovation and creativity is a rare bird indeed. It is not with the voice of mediocrity amazing things are done in this world. A correction in the real estate market would quickly send these opportunists running back to their kitchens in retreat with no market demand whatsoever, to play with the only 'dough' available to be made- cookie dough...
Until the next weblog...

Missing, One Hero...Steve Fossett

I have been, like thousands of others, tracking the news stories daily in hopes of good news finding Steve Fossett alive and hopefully un-injured. The days diminish that possibility but that's all you can hope for. It's amazing the team spirit and collective force that gets into motion to search for a missing aircraft.
I have had the opportunity to search for more than one aircraft that went missing in my years as being a pilot. I remember one experience that has remained in my memory since the occurrence back in the early 70's. We had been searching all day with no results. Exhausted, we were on the final leg heading south after hours of search, homebound at around 7,000 feet with the sun going down in the west. I was positioned in the back seat on the right hand side. I was gazing out the window not looking at anything particular when I caught something very unusual. I saw a one second reflection off the centre of a large lake that was about 5 miles west of our position from the sun setting. It caught my attention and I told this to the crew. Since I was quite young at the time they decided to continue homebound at altitude and did not take serious my observation. I passed it off as nothing special because the flight crew said that area had been searched diligently and the aircraft would have been spotted by several aircraft that had gone over the entire area of the lake. The flight home was uneventful. Two days later I received the news the aircraft had been found EXACTLY where I saw the reflection- the centre of the lake. A lesson was learned by me that very day. you never take NO for a answer when you know or have a gut feeling, an intuition, a feeling you are right about something!
I have flown the type of aircraft, a Citabria, like Steve was flying when he went missing. I believe, in the mountains with winds gusts and heavy turbulance, he would have his hands full and could easily loose control of the bird. He is in unforgiving territory, flying an unforgiving airplane, with little for food or water, and no flight itinerary to find his tracks and alternate plans. It is not a good sign. But, always, there is hope for the best, his best. My prayers go to his wife Peggy and many friends. We all wait for a resolution to this, to find him beside his aircraft, alive and well...

Midnight Eclipses and other great moments...

Last night was the full eclipse of the moon. Where I live this took place between 1:55 AM and 4:45 AM August 28th. Did I view it? YES, YES YES! Would I have missed it for anything else? Not on your life! I hope you had the opportunity to do the same from your observatory point. Crazy me, I set the alarm for minutes before 2:00AM and opened a can of my favourite beverage and, from my deck, got a first class seat in the observatory of the entire scene of this unbelievable event. I stayed up until about 4:15 at which time a high layer of cirius obscured the balance of it. But, I did get to view the point of no light right threw to the point of new light starting on the other side. Many colors ensued the moon during the 'no light' period- reds, grays, etc. This event, I my mind, is so important. So many things these days seem to be based or referenced by perception and distorted truths being revealed through the laws governed by the universe. The eclipse is a real event, based on real truths, showing the real laws in action. I have viewed other eclipses in the past over the years but this one seemed to have more impact on me. First of all, I was alone. This, by default, allowed me to have only my own thoughts on the matter as it was happening. It also let me have a 'oneness' feeling- like it was only me and this special event. Also amazing was the fact that perhaps, thousands of eyes were doing the same thing from their vantage point, seeing what I was seeing.
All I can say is...WOW! Thank you universe for displaying your true self, your true light, your true darkness, your truths. I toast to the moon and the sun and earth for showing me a great thing at a great moment in time.
Until the next WebLog...

When you Pick the Piper...

...you play the tune.
Life has a funny way of revealing itself. Integrity or lack of it reveals itself the same way every time it is challenged. Do you stand up for what is right or do you yield to the voices of what is unethical, wrong. Recently I was looking over a website which revealed political financial payoffs to companies that supported their 'cause'. You pick the piper, in this case the political party, and when the winnings come home, it's you who gets to pick the tune. Now I know why most of the music I hear these days is crap. And I'm a guy who absolutely loves music! All puns aside, I believe integrity is revealed every time you hear the tune. And this happens in every facet of society, not just politics. I guess a person should not be surprised in this now global competitive environment we all choose to do what we do everyday. I just thank God there are still some people who value high integrity and pick alliances with pipers who also have and operate with a high degree of integrity. By now I am sure you are wondering where all this is going. I work in an environment where I see this behaviour, or lack of integrity, dispayed all the time. i see the actions displayed to pick the piper, and yes, I hear the tune. And it is not a nice tune when it fills the air. Further I see these same people then acting like your are not hearing the tune correctly and do not understand, and therefore should mind your business. Interesting to be told by someone with no integrity what the problem is AND what the solution is, right? Like dah! He who creates the problem knows exactly what solution plays the right tune. What is even more amazing is these same people actually believe there own garbage. Then if and when things go the 'wrong way' against what they are planning, they go so far as to act like they were not responsible for the result and it is someone elses fault.
I believe life only goes forward when people stand up for what is right and speak from the same integrity. Then they do not have to cover their tracks. Someone once said do not do anything you do not want to see printed in the local paper. Yet these days, the most of these same people will keep covering their tracks, because they know the damage control they have to perform otherwise.
I say the smartest thing to do is pick the high side of life where integrity lives, then you will always be able to look forward, go forward, and speak from integrity and never have to cover your tracks. Remember that the person who has to always look over their back all the time easily falls in holes. Pick the right piper and everyone will be influenced in a better way when they hear the tune. And you will be someone people can trust. You will be building your reputation and momentum to greater things in your life. And all the great things will naturally come back to you with true abundance.
Until the next weblog...

RSVP me by...

When I think of an invitation to something, especially something special, it seems so appropriate to receive it by RSVP, that special card to requires a response to confirm your participation. That signifies the importance of the event in the mind's eye of the host. It also places on the importance of your participation. You are obviously held in high esteem to be there to be a part of such an event. Hence...a special invitation with a time-line for response.
Many social functions shadow themselves as important activities for the requested participants, but with no RSVP request. Just a phone call or email. Most of these events seem to start informal with people choosing to arrive when they 'want to' or perhaps not showing up at all. They go about activities informally with anyone wanting to participate doing so, while others simply staying out of the way. Many cling to their own close circle they came with, hang out the way they hang out, getting what they want from it, eat what and when they want to, scope others around them and eventually leave, without even saying bye. Even the so called 'hosts' of the party many times do not have expectations nor set the tone and direct it accordingly. It's like most people just 'floating around' and 'hanging out' with no real construct or form to bring order.
I think we should bring back the 'special events' in our lives and set expectation of the event and participants. I think this brings a sense of respect to the event and will raise the event to a better level of enjoyment for all. If you were invited to a Royal event or something of equal status, you know you would recieve an RSVP. You also know you would BE THERE, on time, dressed to the '10's', and would act in an appropriate manner and socialize with everyone you could, and participate in everything you are asked to be invloved with- all the fun! So why would we not choose to do the same at our own events? We can choose to or choose not too. It's that simple. Maybe we do not want to display higher manners and act 'differently' than we do when our 'guard' is off. Isn't it time we start choosing the higher road of fun and activities in our own backyard than waiting for an RSVP from someone else? I bet you would be surprised to find the participants following your lead and enjoying it, right to the end! Lead...don't follow. Set the expectation. Now that's the kind of party I want to go to! So, if you decide to have a party coming up, don't be scared to RSVP me. I promise to answer it timely, and yes show up on time, dress to the 10's, and enjoy your event, your way, and maybe even have an intimate conversation with you! After reading the previous plights of the beginner camper in part 1 through 4 I am sure you totally agree. The affluent will do anything to never endure that pain again yet are still lured out to the very same special places that no one will ever know about. So they head out to the local RV dealer and spend whatever it takes to do it right! They do not question spending upwards of one hundred thousand dollars or more to carry on the great Canadian tradition. The man caresses and cleans his RV all winter long in anticipation of that special day. They then plan what goes, place it in the appropriate hideaways and it sits all prepped & ready with everything-a-go for that great Canadian journey on the first long weekend in May. The day arrives. Insurance in place, gas tanks full, secure the house and we are on our way. About an hour into the drive is when you start to notice traffic getting heavier. They are going the same way as us. Your spouse notices in amusement there are other RV’s quite similar to yours. (Do you ever notice after you purchase something special everybody seems to have one?) Pretty soon it is apparent there are not one, two, or three RV’s on the road like yours but hundreds, then thousands. About two hundred miles out is when it hits you like a ton of bricks you are in a convoy of RV’s all moving at the same speed like a military parade but without the music. Upon arrival to your special campsite location which is now somewhat restricted to the ‘RV’s’ section it is then you see that it was smart to reserve your special spot. They are filled with RV’s (doesn’t anyone stay home anymore?). You slowly place yourself into position, hook up the accessories and your home for three glorious days of fishing…right? The entire weekend turns out to be clear, hot weather making it difficult to stay idle inside the RV, the fish aren’t biting because it’s too hot (they bite in the rain here!), the neighbors German shepherd dog loves to pee on your tires at all times, there are fire & water restrictions in place not including the campsite bylaw rules of which include pet, fire, noise, nuisances, touching, walking…you name it. And all this comes with a large fee for the privilege of being in such a lovely spot. God it’s great to be Canadian, eh?
Until the next WebLog adventure...

I am a what? A Dynamic Assertive???...

I just finished a book we brought home from our local library that opened my eyes and pin pointed me and the type of personality/ integrity I am. I read this in 2 days because I just could not put it down. This is the way I am. When I get onto something I believe in strongly or focus intently on, nothing stops me. Gary Null, the Advocate for Health, who you may have seen on public TV or read one of his many fantastic books promoting great health/ smart lifestyle, wrote this particular book a decade ago. Yet it is profound and 'right on the money' in it's accuracy. Gary developed these catagories to aid everyone to understand why we do what we do, and if that is correct for our personality type. He has broken it into 7 key types- 1) Dynamic Aggressive, 2) Dynamic Assertive, 3) Dynamic Supportive, 4) Creative Assertive, 5) Adaptive Supportive, 6) Adaptive Assertive, and 7) Adaptive Aggresive. I am not going to go into great detail about each one but at one end of the spectrum you have a strong charismatic Dynamic Aggressive person who are drawn to power and money, all the way to the Adaptive Supportive person who don't like change, stick to the status quo, and work there 8 to 5, five days a week. The Adaptive supportive represent the masses- 90% of the population. After finishing reading the book, when you go through the test to get an honest view of yourself, you can pin point your type. Hence, I find out my personality type is truly governed by the Dynamic Assertive with the Creative Assertive type as a secondary. Gary Null points out if you are not living out 'your type' it is due to conditioning over the years from your early years. This opened up my understanding of why I have always loved doing certain things and being with certain people and hates other things, such as some of the jobs I have done and some of the questionable relationships I have had with people. The Dynamic Assertive type that I am is a charismatic, do-it-yourself, self made, work for yourself, things like that. At the high end of this energy is a strong dynamic person who can change things and get great people on board to help and have an entourage of people with you. At the low end of this energy is a negative person not a lot of people would want to be around. Now think of this... I identified in myself and can see many times I have been accepting another 'personality type' due to my conditioning, etc. no one to blame here but myself. The result of not living your true type is unhappiness, poor health, relationships, etc. WOW! Talk about a profound realization for me to examine. One key thing is to learn that you may be living negatively BECAUSE you are not living in YOUR true energy type. And that could be why nothing changes, etc.
I will list this book ( and others I feel are important) shortly for reference in my blog if you want to learn more about this. You may be very surprised, as surprised as I was!
So for now, from my dynamic assertive self, I say to you all let's all go together and have ourselves a great day!
Until the next WebLog...

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://skychariot.blogspot.com/2007/07/i-am-what-dynamic-assertive.html' title='I am a what? A tiny sealed hole in the top of the tent proves it’s great Canadian workmanship when a slight drop enters the king’s inner sanctuary, his sleeping bag. The master’s socks are quickly grabbed to block the culprit hole and a vigil is held to push back the liquid matter from the liquid Canadian High with the final conviction it will be over before daylight. Then it’s back to snoring like your camp neighbors which is worse then the sound of a herd of Canadian bears. The next morning proves that the entire lake actually moved several feet higher and yes... onto and into your campground uninvited. Soaked wood according to Canadian experts does not burn well- and they are right. The first point of order is on with the wet clothes and then with great Canadian pride, round everyone up as quick as possible (to beat your campsite neighbors, of course) and head to the local village to do the only smart thing- find a warm restaurant for breakfast with hot fresh coffee and place to dry out. And so it goes for the duration of the entire experience. All with a smile on our face. By the time we arrive home from another great Canadian adventure we have made more corporate key decisions than in the entire previous year. All this just to keep alive. The drive home is silent, chalked up to one more great Canadian experience. Johnnykins has given up his post to save face for John. Of course when we arrive at the office the following Monday we tell all our friends, colleagues, and business associates it was a great time, there is definitely massive fish in that lake although secretly you know you didn’t catch any, but by God you saw them through the clear Canadian water, it only rained ‘a little’, and at least no one got sick on this vacation- another great Canadian blessing. It will all be forgotten within a month and John will be planning next years Canadian mystery campsite adventure, unknowingly to even his own family, perhaps to the same special hidden spot.
Until the next WebLog of Adventure...

Put Another Log On The Blog...

I quite often read and keep up with blogs written by people doing special stuff of interest to me- leaders, health, business, fascinating people, etc. One of many I follow is Mark Cuban, the co-founder of the internet company broadcast.com of which he sold to Yahoo for $$$Billions of dollars. His blog address is 'www.blogmaverick.com'. He is an extremely successful businessman, a billionaire, owner of the Dallas Mavericks, and new internet company HDNet.com. He, like others I follow, are fascinating to keep 'up with' and observe by way of the new type of written word, blogs. Unknowingly, this new type of written word is a wonderful opportunity to get a glimpse of the daily thoughts and feelings of what's important in a persons world at the present moment- now. You almost get to see what's going on in a person's mind in 'close to' real time. Mark Cuban allows the reader to actually understand current important things from his point of view and a business 'effect' point of view. The insight is priceless in value to a guy like me. Even some apparently mundane blogs draw out such great insight to trends, opportunities and the like.
One statistic Mark Cuban quoted recently was that '95% of blogs are read by 25 people or less.' I think a lot people write blogs to use primarily as a way to communicate with family and close friends and the rare internet scraggler who catches it out there in e-land. I believe a little research can attract a high degree of value and service to you through serendipity in the most unusual blogs. It is a much better source of current happenings than most realize! Web sites reflect a short to medium time period of reference(your brand and image) whereas blogs keep you in the daily 'know', providing the person writing the blog keeps up with it and are getting fresh thoughts...a daily or at the outside, weekly stream of new information from the real person behind the brand and image.
I say a personal thank you to all bloggers for blogs! I hope you find mine, get on board, and hang on for the ride and at any time put a log on my blog. Oh, Come now...

For some reason early this morning, while sipping on my early morning coffee, I clicked into something in an interview on TV that struck a perfect 'G' cord with me. The interviewer was asking questions of Robert Bateman, the famous painter from the Gulf Islands off Vancouver, BC. The one question that stuck out was 'How do you draw a stream so realistic and beautiful?' His answer was a profound answer (paraphrased) 'to draw a stream become the stream, be in it, be it, and flow with it, then you will know it and you can draw it'. His answer merged with a book I keep close by as reference. I pick it up to give myself a mind 'boost'. There it was, sticking right out front, like a light flickering in front of my nose. The page I opened to said (paraphrased), 'fear and doubt destroy knowledge, the knowledge of your greatness. Knowing is inside you, not 'out there'. With 'knowing' and applied faith toward your own purpose or aim, you will achieve greatness.' The key point that stuck out is that knowledge is NOT OUT THERE! It is actually inside you! Well, me, in this case! When I become 'one' with this knowledge from applied faith (remember fear and doubt destroy this) I will achieve my personal greatness. WOW! So let's go back to the stream talk with Robert Bateman. He says if you want to draw it become it. So all I need to do is become the 'knowing' and I am it. Profound yet so dam simple. Why have choosen to make everything so complicated for years and not click into something so accurate and centred on truth? Do you think I have maintained a internal catalogue of doubt and fear to choke off this 'knowing?' I think so. I am what I think. This whole thing begs a whole new stream of thought...
Until the next WebLog...

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://skychariot.blogspot.com/2007/07/to-understand-become-oh-come-now.html' title='To Understand, Become? Rabii Shmuley Boteach made two profound statements following this public feud that re-opened an area of truth that has been on my mind for some time- Are men being men anymore or is this a dead art? The Rabbi stated 'Indeed, Donald Trump represents a completely new paradigm in the evolution of male honor, with grave repercussions for those who aspire to be gentlemen' and 'Donald Trump has never outgrown his obsession for unbridled self-aggrandizement. Indeed, he has not evolved, but devolved. His narcissism and boastfulness scrape the skies just like his buildings. Enlightenment seems utterly beyond Trump, who continues to believe that self-glorification is life's only purpose.'
I went to the dictionary to define exactly what a gentleman is to have a starting point to reference this matter with intelligence. The definition states ' A well-mannered and considerate man with high standards of proper behavior'. The Rabbi states of Trumps public behaviour, that such monumental flaws would be no one's business but the subject himself. His point is that Trump's success-through-boastfulness has a negative effect on other men. The Rabbi further stated that 'ancient codes of honor dictated that a while a man should aspire to greatness, he should do so with a whisper. Let others speak of his feats of daring. A gentleman is not crass and is certainly not a braggart. Indeed, boasting of one's achievements undermines them, as it betrays insecurity rather than confidence, and weakness rather than strength.'
I believe, being a man myself, that this should be considered as a smart starting point of reference of a man's behaviour. To aspire for greatness, with class and a high degree of integrity, doing your work with diligence, not provoking and agitating others around you.
I have read most of Donald Trumps books. In 'The Art of The Deal' he stated something to the effect of; 'You look a bully straight in the eye and get him with all you got because they are really a coward'. I think his behaviour over this matter was the same- like a 'bully'. It suggests to me he that he really is the 'worried' one and is doing exactly what the Rabbi stated, acting from weakness rather than strength. At the same time I do not support Rosie's behaviour either. I believe she is displaying the same behaviour.
I believe there are a lot of gentleman and ladies in this world. I do agree with the Rabbi that the public display of bad behaviour sends wrong messages to the world.
I myself will choose to stand and on walk on proper behaviour and conduct. i hope when you see me from a distance you will say...'Is that a gentleman over there?'
Until the next weblog....

'The Art Of Being A Great Canadian, Eh?' - Part 3

Rain is another master of great trepidation to the great Canadian camping spirit. You watch the weather channel endlessly every day for a week prior to the joyful day of departure noting there is a large high pressure ridge blanketing the entire country. When the day arrives for departure to your ‘special place’ you note a small ridge of clouds appearing low on the horizon. Being the master Canadian camper you are, in your mind you say ‘no way, that isn’t real clouds, someone is playing a joke eh, and further the weather channel has protected my special week of glory. Putting on the radio station to a distant channel enhances the experience of the drive as you proceed to that special land of Great Canadian Kings, the campsite. In this case, Sunridge Point Creek. Upon arrival the first order of business is the Great Canadian tradition and corresponding camp ritual. The champagne of choice- into the cooler to pop the lids off a six-pack of good old Canadian beer. Nothing happens around the site until ‘a few are kicked back’ to size up the kingdom and note what kind of residents you have in close proximity to the fee simple domain reserved especially with your name on it. A minimum of one hour must pass of pure gulping pleasure mixed with belching / gas releasing. This edges on the perpetual amusement of acting silly which every Canadian knows builds the energy form around the site before your entrance has formed your special valid spirited imprint. Then everyone in the group homes in on their area of ‘expertise’ in the duty of camp preparation; the design, positioning and placing of every piece of campsite material must be perfect. By the time the last flicker of the campfire signals and reinforces the coolness of the surrounding air the perfect plan is now in place.
It is sometime in the middle of the night when you awaken to that first strange apparent sound somewhere towards the top of the tent. It is just a slight tickle of a sound. You know it’s a dream, a teaser, a fool playing with a master. A little time goes by…then another...then another...then some more. That cannot be…that can’t, that isn’t…that dreadful four lettered word that has been a thorn to more camp relationships, marriages, illnesses, food poisoning, you name it. Oh my god, it really is that god awful stuff...r...a...i....nnn!
Until the next post...

'The Art Of Being A Great Canadian, Eh?' - Part 2

‘The I Want To Keep It simple Kind of Holiday’ or ‘I’m Broke This Year But Will Not Let Down My Family’

We, in Canada, pursue our work with great tenacity to achieve the absolute symbol of wealth…to answer the call & lure of the great outdoors of this great land. It is the only right Canadian thing to do, eh? Yes, our first adventures seem a little primitive and simple yet we proudly head down the highway with our station wagon packed to the nuts and legs stretched everywhere. The first sign of trouble is when the first question comes from the back seat…Wake us up when we get there, okay Johnnykins?’ I always know when they use my name like an adjective the camp games have just begun. With tent in trunk we pursue our special campground. We honestly believe no one else we know knows about our’ ‘special’ place except us. We secretly feel challenged and excited to seek anywhere with a fancy name. For instance, take ‘Pancake Mountain’…named by a famous bush pilot. I wonder what happened to this pilot, eh? Every visiting Canadian will have a different story. And how about ‘Little Mink Pass’…named by an old northern trapper. Was it because the mink were small or every time he had a bad season he would scream madly from his cabin “come here you ---dam little mink, your not passin’ by my door without a visit and your days are numbered anyway!”, or wild animal names such as Great Bear Lake. Something tells me no one saw a great sized bear just appear from out of the depths of that vast cold Canadian lake and walk on the surface of the lake to the shore to the amazement of all watching. As a matter of fact this great Canadian has fished this lake and it has some of the best trophy Lake Trout you would ever find in the entire world. Why is it not named Great Trout Lake? This is what makes this land called Canada so great, eh?! We obviously do not have a clue why we named anything. Great Canadian Maturity proves that names and locations on our maps could be one of two things; highly accurate or highly in-accurate, depending on 1) who chose to name it (I’m sure they must be Canadian, eh?), 2) how much of a sense of humor they had that day (Boy, do we have a sense of humor!), 3) it was the only way anyone including the finder would ever remember where the hell this particular spot is ever again. I’ll leave you to wonder the rest and imagine some of the other names; Mosquito Lake, Big Trout Lake, Beavertail Creek, Loon River, Babine Lake, Old Wives Lake, Gold Pan Creek…I’m sure you get the picture. Just be sure to have as good an imagination as any proud Canadian and you’ll be fine. A case in point: A trip to Mosquito Lake proves itself once you arrive. Within minutes of arriving, my wife recalls of childhood adventures, every mosquito in the vast expanse of Canada arrived to welcome her families’ arrival. The only problem was, they decided to stay for the entire families holiday festive experience. The simplest task of seeking tranquility in the outdoors then became a test of the true ‘Canadian’ family spirit. Sleeping in the tent, cooking on the open fire, quick trips to the washroom(outhouse!), playing cards at the picnic table, or taking the dingy out for an hour of fishing all proved easy to plan yet hard to attempt let alone master. Sanity became the primary objective to keep in place for everyone. Constant swatting, smacking, endless bottles of stinky repellant, endless waking hours at night listening to their flight runs all directly aimed at your face and any other possible bodily part remotely accessible. Modern radar and satellite GPS systems have nothing on those bastards. There isn’t a spot left untouched on the entire human body by these blood-sucking adventure capitalists. Now just imagine waking in the morning to the simple yet proudly Canadian truth you are not going anywhere for the next week.
To be continued...

If you were the CEO?

Welcome to a new week everyone! If you were the CEO of your own corporation and this was your board room, who would be your closest advisors? You can see by the picture where you are sitting- at the head of the table. Pretend for a moment you had only one choice for who you would place in each chair. These would be your closest advisors, your confidants, your people you bounce ideas off of. These are people you know with upmost certainty you could trust with anything you own- your home, vehicle, family, money. You also know they can be trusted with sensitve information of high importance to you.
Why don't you spend a minute and play along with this. Pretend. Place someone in each chair. It could be a friend, professional peer, relation, family member, health expert, financial advisor, someone who humors you, a 'pretend' person like a goddess mythical character, a pixie, a fairy, a musician, artist...it doesn't matter. As long as they are important to you. Let your imagination go wild on this one.
The one thing I ask you to do is to be serious and pick pople you know you have to be with for a one year period- just like a CEO would pick for directors, advisors, etc. You can't change them after giving them the honor of being placed at your table.
I have done this and still have the same people I chose three years ago. It's amazing when I look at my board room with the names of my people placed right on the chair where they are sitting. I do consult them when needed. Interesting is the fact that you know who in your close circle to ask a specific question or to get advice from.
Welcome to your new corporation and to being your own CEO. As noon is coming soon I have to consult my health advisor for advice on a great healthy lunch I should eat today. Even with this evidence in hand from being a youngster I found out that every time somebody wanted to know more about ‘me’ they would ask that inevitable question; Where do your parents and grand-parents come from, that is…what country were they born in. A young child like me thought everyone was born right on my street somewhere (at least in their own backyard). Interestingly, their question was a correct one, as my mother and father, although both born in Canada, had many blood lines from other countries starting with their parent’s backward in time. My mother had at least five known countries of origin in her background- Irish, German, French, & English. My father seemed to be the one in the family with straight Scottish roots dating from his parents backward. (Maybe that’s why my favorite drink of choice is single malt scotch, who knows eh?) They came over to the ‘new land’ to raise their family on a homestead on the prairies. The subsequent looks and remarks confirmed my suspicion to that inevitable question (Oh…he’s one of those, eh!). The undertones & change of mannerisms from that moment on confirmed I was not just your average kid growing up on Simple Street Canada. Even growing up in the 50’s in a middle class Canadian city had it’s streets of multiple diversities of culture. Our street had the same neighbors for years. No one moved. Everyone stayed in the same house for years. Garbage trash stashed close or on container by back lane Tuesday before dark. Lawns cut between 8:00 & 9:00 am on Saturdays. Laundry hung on the clothesline by 11:00. Car washed early afternoon. Seeds planted by May long-weekend. The list goes on and on. It was a major community event to find out someone was actually not following protocol, or worse, planning to move out of the area. Yet, I now realize many years later from being asked that first line of questions from ‘mature’ concerned citizens of this great land that no-ones roots were from that street anyways, or for that matter ANY street on the fee simple premises known as Canadian turf. What an eye opener that was. I had hit pay-dirt by the time I hit fourteen years old with this knowledge & understanding.
Until the next posting...

Sweet Summer Solstice and Waxing Crescent Moons

The first day of summer! This is what we live for, isn't it? Mix the longest day of the year with a waxing crescent moon with a 43% illumination and we've got one great day, right? Yes, I say! I went to the Navy Observatory website to get specific times for sunrise, it's highest point in the day, and sunset for today. Where I live in Vancouver this is what it is... Sunrise 05:07 AM, the sun's highest point in the sky is at 13:15 PM (1:15 PM Local) and Sunset is 21:22 PM (9:22 PM Local). That gives me exactly 16 hours and 15 minutes today to take in all the essence that the sun offers and bestows on me today.
Did you know that the definition of the summer solstice is when the sun is at its greatest distance from the celestial equator, when the sun reaches its northernmost point on the celestial sphere. So there you go.
This got me thinking about the bird's eye view of the world from space. I believe when we focus on a little of what mother nature is showing us everyday there is something to be learned from her. And today, I have learned something. Putting attention and focus onto one apparently small event is actually a profound event in nature. And the greatest part is I am aware of this event and intend to enjoy it in this moment for all it has to offer. How about you?
It's now time to leave my computer and take my cup of fresh coffee into the brightness of the morning sun.
Until the next post...

Which Came First? Which came first? The logic is you cannot have a chicken without an egg nor can you have an egg without a chicken! When you think of the connecting link between these two apparently different things, would the same reasoning not be held for two critical desires we all want in our life– a high degree of WEALTH and the HEALTH to go and enjoy it all? Can these two actually be the same, have equal value, and it doesn't matter?
I think they are and they do. If you have wealth but your health is extremely poor, what chance do you have to enjoy all that wealth is supposed to offer. If you have extremely great health and limited or no financial resources, it will not be easy for you to be mobile and express yourself to the world and share your great energy and all of your beauty.
There are scores of examples of people who spent years building their wealth, arrived, and it was over- they died or had a serious health issue which restricted their life and enjoyment thereafter.
For most of us, it is going to require a lot of focus, planning and patience to acquire the wealth we want in our life. Since this is the case, we need as much energy and clear thinking to aid us with this outcome.
I think it is imperative to consider that the two, the chicken and the egg, are interconnected and both need constant attention to achieve the desired results- wealth AND health.
If I had to side with one or the other, I think I would choose the egg. Why? Because the chicken is fully grown and is what it is, a chicken. But the egg, if nurtured, will grow healthy and strong according to how I feed it and look after it. The egg I own is my own health. I choose to look after it as best as possible. That way I know I will have the energy and clear thinking to guide my thoughts daily for wealth creation & long term growth.
How about you? The first is 'Why We Want You To Be Rich' by Donald Trump & Robert Kiyosaki. The second is 'Secrets of the Millionaire Mind' by T. Harv Eker. So why would I make such a claim...
The Trump / Kiyosaki book takes you through the steps of understanding your 'role' in the economy and marketplace with an intellectual approach to money and the growth of it. This 'role' is explained with four quadrants. They are Employee, Self-Employee, Business, and Investments. The explanation is that when you transform yourself into the business quadrant and out from that build cash flow investments(quadrant four) continually back to yourself, you live with upmost 'freedom' and wealth.
This intellectual approach to understanding your relationship to the outer world with greater financial resources always growing & available is simple to understand. I think it is the 'left brain' approach to understanding wealth.
T. Harv Eker's book 'Secrets of the Millionaire Mind' takes you through the same steps but does an interesting approach. He uses the emotional approach to money and the growth of it. The 'right brain' approach. He has what he calls a 'Financial Blueprint' and says he can, from speaking with you, instantly tell if you are wealthy or not so wealthy- your financial blueprint. He takes you through the understanding of the 'emotional blueprints' that restrict or allow you to have, keep and grow wealth.
After reading both books, one after the other, it struck me how both are so important, and should be treated as one. The intellectual and emotional convergence of understanding wealth, the meeting of 'left brain' and 'right brain'. Everything firing at once.
