A partially clothed woman later died after she was found unresponsive in a packed plane’s bathroom . Some passengers criticized the way they removed her from the flight.

Theresa Hines, 48, of Carrollton, Tex died shortly after emergency workers found her unresponsive in the bathroom of an American Airlines Boeing 737 en route from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport to Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.

Ross Feinstein, an American Airlines spokesman, said in a statement to the Daily News the airline crew onboard provided medical assistance to Hines, who they described was “in medical distress” before landing.

Airport officials emphasized they had followed the proper protocols.
"From our standpoint everything was handled according to the textbook," airport spokesman Pat Hogan told The Associated Press.
Hogan said Hines was wearing underwear and a shirt at the time of the incident. When the plane landed, medics transported her out of the plane in a portable stretcher down the aisle, he said.

However, passenger Art Endress said they crossed the line when they “dragged her down the aisle” while not covering her.
“The EMT was out of line. The flight attendants could have thrown a blanket on her."
Her cause of death wasn’t immediately known.
twitterfeeds.com

10 Prayers To Pray For Your Husband

Years ago, I decided to consistently pray for my husband. While that sounds really mature and wonderful, the choice was a selfish endeavor, though I thought I was being helpful. In my immaturity, I wanted a few things to change in my marriage and so I called on the Lord to change them. Funny how I discovered the one who needed to change was ME! Ever been there?

Through God’s work in my heart, I discovered the importance of praying for my husband and the power of praying for him. Over the years, God has shown me his work in my marriage through prayer time and time again.

Prayer is a life-changing, uninterrupted connection to our heavenly Father and oh how he loves to hear his children pray! Check out these 10 prayers to pray over your husband using God’s Word.

1. Pray for his work
“Lord, I pray that You would bless my husband’s work. That he would be diligent and prosperous. That You would give him wisdom and discernment. God, I pray You would give him strength to walk the opportunities you provide. Thank you, Lord.”

Do you see a person skilled in his work? He will stand in the presence of kings. He will not stand in the presence of the unknown. Proverbs 22:29 (CSB)

2. Pray for his heart, soul and mind
“Father, I praise You for my husband, Your unique creation. Please guard his heart and mind, Jesus. Protect him from temptation and fill him up with the good things he needs. You’ve promised to fill his soul with what he needs and I ask You to do just that.”

For he has satisfied the thirsty and filled the hungry with good things. Psalm 107:9 (CSB)

3. Pray for healing from the past
“God, would You heal the wounds of my husband’s heart? You’ve promised healing to those who submit to You. Lord, please smooth the scars of past hurts and brokenness. May Your healing permeate his being, inside and out.”

Heal me, Lord, and I will be healed; save me, and I will be saved, for you are my praise. Jeremiah 17:14 (CSB)

4. Pray for courage
“Lord, You are gracious and merciful, yet You are all-powerful and understanding. This world can be a fearful place and I pray that You would give my husband courage. Lord, infuse his character with courage for daily decisions and the difficult ones as well.”

The fear of the Lord leads to life; one will sleep at night without danger. Proverbs 19:23 (CSB)

5. Pray for his leadership
“God, You have provided Your Word and I am so grateful. May Your Word guide my husband as the leader of our home. May his leadership skills be empowered by your wisdom. I trust that You will lead in his hand and heart in our relationship, his work, our home, community and church.”

Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God—who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly — and it will be given to him. James 1:5 (CSB)

6. Pray for wisdom in finances
“Lord, money yields the greatest potential to cause problems in a home. Please give my husband wisdom as he seeks to honor You with finances. I praise You for the blessings You’ve provided and I pray that You would help him, help us, to always honor You first.”

Keep your life free from the love of money. Be satisfied with what you have, for he himself has said, I will never leave you or abandon you. Hebrews 13:5 (CSB)

7. Pray for a heart for the Lord
“Father, please give my husband a pure heart for You. May he seek to love You and trust You with everything he has and is. Protect him from opinions intended to sway him from Your Word.”

Don’t work only while being watched, as people-pleasers, but as slaves of Christ, do God’s will from your heart. Ephesians 6:6 (CSB)

8. Pray for his speech
“Father, in a day when the world speaks with complete corruption, keep my husband’s words pure before You. I pray that he would use his words just as You would have him to. I praise You for his personality and pray for purposeful conversations in our marriage.”

No foul language should come from your mouth, but only what is good for building up someone in need, so that it gives grace to those who hear. Ephesians 4:29 (CSB)

9. Pray for his friendships
“Lord, I pray that You would provide encouraging friendships for my husband. That he would know he is never alone because You are with him, but I ask for others to speak into his life and sharpen him as he sharpens them.”

Iron sharpens iron, and one person sharpens another. Proverbs 27:17 (CSB)

10. Pray for your husband to be a good father
“God, I thank You that You are the good, good Father. Would you help my husband’s parenting to reflect You? May his children know Your heavenly love personally and experience it through their earthly father.”

Fathers, don’t stir up anger in your children, but bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord. Ephesians 6:4 (CSB)
The Chairman of Hong Local Government in Adamawa, Alhaji Haliru Lala, has confirmed the death of two children in a blast in Fadaman-Rake Village.

Lala told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Yola that five others were also injured in the incident which occurred late on Thursday evening.

He said that some children playing by the road side were given a polythene bag containing explosives, which was later exploded by an unknown person passing by in a car.

"In all, seven of them were affected; two died on the spot, four are on admission while one sustained minor injury and has been treated."

The chairman expressed the concern of the council over the incident suspected to be the work of insurgents.

He said that the council had therefore, directed the Mobilization Committee to commence mass enlightenment on the need for parents to caution their children against accepting parcels and gifts from strangers.

In another account, a resident of the village who simply identified himself as Adamu, said that the strangers who gave the bag to the children were riding in a Toyota Starlet car.

"They gave one of the children the bag and told him that it was sent by his father to take home.

"While taking it home with his friends, the curious boys, most of them between six and seven years, decided to open the bag before reaching home and it exploded," Adamu said.

Meanwhile, the Spokesman of the Police Command in Adamawa, SP Othman Abubakar, has confirmed the incident.
A potential plane crash in Nigeria was averted as an Arik Air aircraft
lost one of its two engines mid-air with over 100 passengers on board.

The
aircraft, a Boeing 737 with the registration number 5N-MJD, departed
from Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA), Lagos, for Jos on Friday when the
pilot discovered that the plane had lost one of its engines during the
flight.

According to SR, the aircraft was already 60 miles away from Lagos before the incident occurred.

Immediately
after the pilot discovered the problem, he contacted the Lagos control
tower, which granted him emergency landing status.

Passengers panicked when they were informed that the aircraft would return to Lagos.

Upon
landing in Lagos, it was gathered that the aircraft could not taxi out
of the runway and it took the intervention of the Airport Rescue and
Fire-Fighting Services (ARFFS), a department in the Federal Airports
Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), to tow the aircraft to the hajj and cargo
terminal area of the airport in order for the passengers to disembark
from the aircraft.

“The incident occurred at noon on Friday. The
aircraft had departed Lagos for Jos, but barely a few minutes into the
journey, the pilot radioed the Lagos control tower that it needed to
return to base.

“When the control tower heard this, they approved
the pilot for emergency landing, which he did successfully. The
aircraft had to be towed out of the runway by the ARFFS because it could
not move again.”

A source in the Accident Investigation Bureau
(AIB) said the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) was yet to
report the incident to the bureau for further investigation.

“As
an investigator, I can tell you that I am not aware of this development.
AIB should be the one to decide any occurrence if it feels that the
industry can gain any safety value from it," the source said.

“There
had been complaints that the NCAA does not notify us at times when
there is an incident. It is by law that we should be notified in case of
any incident. The AIB Commissioner is empowered by law to investigate
any occurrence in the sector,” he added.

The cause of the incident remains unknown at the time of reporting
twitterfeeds.com

Alexx Ekubo Wins Most Fashionable Male Entertainer Award

Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Shehu Garba yesterday warned that Nigeria could face famine in January if drastic steps are not taken now.? Garba who gave the warning when he spoke at a radio station in kano yesterday, said Nigerian farmers are exporting most of their food products instead of making it readily available for consumption in Nigeria. “Huge demand for our grains in the global market is creating an excellent environment for the mindless export of Nigerian grains across our borders and unless this is curtailed, Nigerian markets will be bereft of food by January next year. ? Over the past year, Providence has blessed Nigeria with a bountiful harvest of grains, more than enough to feed the country and to export to other countries. At present, there is a high demand for grains from Nigeria, from African countries as distant as Libya and Algeria, and from places as far away as Brazil. However, the ministry of agriculture has raised concerns about a massive rate of exportation, which could lead to a shortage of grains in Nigeria by January. President Muhammadu Buhari is not in any way opposed to or intent on tampering with that. On the other hand, exporters also have a moral obligation to make their produce available to Nigerians who live within our country’s borders, to ensure that our citizens have access to food” he said. Garba said that the ministry of agriculture estimated that no fewer than 500 trucks laden with grain leave Nigerian markets every week, headed for countries outside Nigerian borders. “The major markets involved in this exportation are: the Dawanau market in Kano, Naigatari in Jigawa, Bama in Borno, and Ilela in Sokoto, as well as three other main markets in Kebbi State,” he said.
The police in Enugu have nabbed a man parading himself as a police officer in uniforms and armed with metal fabricated guns.
The Enugu Police Command has arrested one Udoh Samuel, who was posing as a police officer in Abakpa community, near Enugu.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the police recovered police uniform and fabricated gun-like metal from the suspect.

The command’s Spokesman, Ebere Amaraizu, told NAN on Saturday in Enugu that the suspect was nabbed by the police through information from members of the public on Thursday.

“Udoh Samuel, from Ubiagan Ikono Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom, but residing at 119 Amokwu Street Ugbohe-Abakpa in Enugu State, has been allegedly presenting himself as a serving police officer in Ugboghe-Abakpa community and its environs.

“Further information about the suspect revealed that he also poses as a tricyclist,’’ Amaraizu said.

He said the suspect confessed to the crime, adding: “he blamed the situation on satanic influence, saying that he previously used the uniform when he was still doing a security guard job’’.

Amaraizu said that the suspect, a father of two, had been helping the police in its investigation.

Reacting to the development, Enugu Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mr Okponkpong Imaikop, said that the command would stop at nothing at ensuring that criminal elements were flushed out of the state.

Imaikop, lauded members of the public for their timely information.
twitterfeeds.com

Woman who spent £18,000 to look like Kim Kardashian says it has ‘ruined her life

A woman who splashed money on surgery to
look like Kim Kardashian, says it has ruined her life.
Claire Leeson splashed-out £18,000 to look like the reality star ,
but she says now she is constantly ridiculed for her appearance.
The 27-year-old is “sick and tired” of being compared to Kim and is desperate to
break away from the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star.

Claire said: “I’m sick and tired of being compared to Kim Kardashian, I am my own person.” I always had a resemblance to Kim and I thought I could capitalise on that by copying her look, but it’s backfired and now I hate looking like her,” “It’s ruining my life, I’m just being ridiculed. People don’t understand that it’s not a compliment for me to be compared to Kim, it really upsets me. “I feel like a bit of an idiot and I regret saying I wanted to be like her.

It is better a Prophet did not give you any message, than for you to ignore after hearing from him...

The popular Spiritual Head of INRI Church, Primate Elijah Babatunde Ayodele, who like other Nigerians, is still sad over the death of former Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi has disclosed that he actually warned the soccer legend to seek the face of God after the AFCON 2013 Nations Cup.

Ayodele, while speaking to Daily Sun, said he wrote Keshi a personal letter after the South Africa 2013 Nations Cup campaign to intimate him of the divine revelations he got.

“I have been in deep pains since I learnt of his death. Keshi was a soccer icon. He served Nigeria well both as a player and as a coach. I remember writing him a personal letter after the Nations Cup in South Africa and warned him to seek the face of God. He needed prayers and I told Nigerians then that Keshi has completed his assignment with the Eagles after the Nations Cup and that Eagles needed another coach to move forward.”

Ayodele urged Nigerian football buffs not to dismiss divine revelations, even as he insisted that the country does not need a foreign coach ahead of the Russia 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

“I have sent messages to the NFF and I hope they will listen. I have told them the Abuja Glass House needs some spiritual cleansing [jazz getting into football these days]. On the Eagles, I have made it clear that what the Eagles need now is not a foreign coach. This is what God revealed to me. I m not saying it to attract publicity or for any financial gain."

Even a fine boy who has money is in trouble without self-discipline, not to talk of the one who 'dances' with just any woman who has money to spend on him. Funny enough, this saga isn't that straight.alexalab blog observed that a babymama drama is brewing between Yoruba actor Mustapha Ololade and a big girl Seyi after she claimed he slept with her, she spent her money on him, he got her pregnant [she's 5 months pregnant now] and he's busy celebrating his new baby with another lady.

Who is the other lady? Another big girl, Yoruba filmmaker Adewumi Fatai. She just gave birth to a baby for Mustapha. It's obvious that big girl Seyi is very angry. Consequently, she has been making a lot of accusations online, alleging that the actor, Mustapha, has impregnated three other ladies before getting her pregnant. The saga is just crazy. See the exchanges below...
Court jails Colonel Okpala for Duping Church of N34.5m

Justice M. N. Yunusa of the Federal High Court sitting in Enugu has sentenced Col. Eugene Okpala (retd.) to 7 years in prison in a case of conspiracy, and obtaining money [N34.5m] under false pretences.

The convict duped a church, Dominium City Church, of the sum of N34.5million in 2010.

The EFCC said in a statement by its spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, that 62yrs old Okpala was earlier slated for trial on Wednesday but the case took a different turn when the retired colonel decided to change his plea from “not guilty” to “guilty”.

Okpala was said to have in 2008, approached a lawyer Vincent Obetta of Igwurube Chambers and a member of Dominion City Church under the pretext of having large portion of land for sale at N40m.

The complainant, Dominium City Church, in need of a landed property to build their school, negotiated and eventually bought the land for N34.5m. The church also paid additional five percent of the sum, which is, N1.75m as agency fee to Igbwurube Chambers.

Consequently, in September 2010, the church started developing the land, but another lawyer came up to tell them that the land belonged to one Chief Philip C. Asiodu.

The statement read in part, “Investigation was launched into the matter and the convict was found culpable and was arraigned. During trial, counsel for the EFCC, I. I. Mbachie tendered 13 exhibits which were admitted in evidence and marked as exhibit C1-13.

“Having changed his plea, the defence counsel, E. O. Isinu, prayed the court to temper justice with mercy saying, his client was a first time offender.

“Justice Yunusa consequently sentenced Okpala to seven years imprisonment on each count preferred against him. The sentences are to run concurrently.”

Okpala is on his way to prison to begin his journey as a prisoner.
twitterfeeds.com

Can Nigerians Stop Eating Meat? WATCH these Hilarious Responses from Lagosians

There are many ways to reduce carbon emission in the environment, like walking, cycling, eating less meat etc… BattaBox presenter Odunayo asks Nigerians in Lagos – Can You Stop Eating Meat?

“It would be difficult,” says one woman.

Meat has been a part of Nigeria and Nigerians right from the very beginning; in fact we could say Nigerians eat meat everyday with every meal. But in a bid protect the environment in this harsh climate and reduce carbon emission, can Nigerians give up meat?

“For health reasons i can do without meat,” replies one lady

Watch and enjoy!
The residents of Gwagwalada in Abuja woke up to this, recently.

The snake was restless, weak and unable to move after swallowing a goat.

What is the essence of destroying the economy of your own country? This doesn't make sense. The so called Niger Delta Avengers are said to have blown up a section of the Escravos gas trunkline behind salvation city, near Ogbe-Ijoh in Warri South West local government area of Delta state.

gathered that the Presidency is troubled by this development since they confirmed that the guys actually bombed another pipeline on Friday morning. Meetings are said to be going on, on how to proceed; either to continue the dialogue approach or crush the saboteurs.

There seems to be more trouble for former Petroleum Resources Minister Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is probing her involvement in a $115m (N23,299,705,000billion) 2015 election bribery scandal.

The anti-graft agency has detained two bankers in connection with the scandal.

Already, EFCC has launched a manhunt for Ugonna Madueke, the former minister’s son.

Besides, four companies implicated in the bribe-for-results scandal during the 2015 general elections are under probe.

The companies are: Northern Belt Gas Company Limited; Auctus Integrated; Midwestern Oil and Gas; and Leno Laitan Adesanya.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner for Rivers State (now in Cross River State), Gesil Khan and four others are undergoing interrogation over the N681million the allegedly got from the bribe.

She allegedly got N185,842,000 from the deal.

The other suspects and the alleged bribe against their names are
Fidelia Omoile (Electoral Officer in Isoko-South Local Government Area of Delta State) -N112,480,000; Uluochi Obi Brown( INEC’s Administrative Secretary in Delta State) - N111,500,000; a former Deputy Director of INEC in Cross River State, Edem Okon Effanga - N241,127,000 and the Head of Voter Education in INEC in Akwa Ibom, Immaculata Asuquo - N214,127,000.

During its preliminary investigations, the EFCC discovered that the N23.29billion was shared to INEC officials in all the 36 states, some individuals and Non-Governmental Organisations(NGOs), which deployed election monitors.

Arrested by the EFCC are Fidelity Bank Managing Director Mr. Nnamdi Okonkwo and the bank’s Head of Operations, Mr. Martin Izuogbe.

The list of all beneficiaries, who received funds through Fidelity Bank branches nationwide, was being compiled last night.

A source in EFCC, who spoke in confidence with our correspondent, said: “We are looking at a case of conspiracy between Fidelity Bank and the former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, to bribe INEC officials to rig the 2015 presidential election nationwide.

“There was a time Diezani invited the MD of Fidelity Bank Nnamdi Okonkwo and told him that the owners of the four companies will come and drop some money and the MD should keep the money separately and await instructions on what to do.

“The companies gave these amounts to the MD of Fidelity Bank as follows: Northern Belt Gas Company Limited ($60m); Auctus Integrated ($17,884,000); Midwestern Oil and Gas ($9.5m); and Leno Laitan Adesanya ($1.85m).

“On her part, Diezani sent $25.77million(approximately $26m) to the MD with all the funds totaling $115million (N23, 299,705,000billion).

“A day or two before the presidential election, she gave a distribution list to the Fidelity Bank Plc MD and instructed that the $115million be changed into Naira and shared to INEC officials in the 36 states, some individuals and NGOs.

“The MD said there was no way the bank could meet up with the conversion of the $115million into Naira and distribute at the same time. Diezani pleaded with the MD to use the Naira in the bank’s vault. She said if the bank changed the dollars later, it could make Naira replacement. That was how the money was distributed to INEC officials in 36 states, some individuals and NGOs.

“The MD instructed the bank’s Head of Operations, Martin Izuogbe, to communicate with all Fidelity Bank branches to effect the distribution of the cash to alter the presidential election poll results.”

The source added: “We have arrested and detained the MD of Fidelity Bank since Monday. But we picked up the Head of Operations on Wednesday.

“They are undergoing intense grilling and we may not release them until we have completed investigations.

“About N681million out of the funds was disbursed to the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Cross River State and four others.

“It is obvious that more Resident Electoral Commissioners and INEC officials will soon be invited for interrogation.”

On the manhunt for the son of the ex-Minister, the top source added: “Ugonna Madueke was at the meeting in her mother’s house when everything was perfected with the MD of the bank. He allegedly gave some instructions too.

“We are looking for him for interaction.”

The EFCC shocked the embattled Resident Electoral Commissioner for Cross River State, Gesil Khan, with the video evidence which was retrieved from the CCTV tape showing how the transactions were carried out in a bank.

She allegedly got about N185,842,000 from the deal, which she denied.

The development has set the stage for the grilling of the REC and four others, The Nation learnt.

About a fortnight ago, the EFCC arrested some top INEC officials in connection with massive bribery during last year’s elections.

The other suspects and the bribe against their names are Fidelia Omoile( Electoral Officer in Isoko-South Local Government Area of Delta State) - N112,480,000;

Uluochi Obi Brown (INEC’s Administrative Secretary in Delta State) - N111,500,000; a former Deputy Director of INEC in Cross River State, Edem Okon Effanga - N241,127,000 and the Head of Voter Education in INEC, Akwa Ibom, Immaculata Asuquo - N214,127,000.

Besides, some sensitive election materials meant for the 2015 presidential and senatorial polls were retrieved from the homes of some of the suspects.

EFCC operatives also recovered also many documents on financial and landed properties from the homes of the embattled INEC officials .

Some of the documents include receipts of payments made into their accounts.

The suspects allegedly got the bribe in Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Cross River states. There are indications that many INEC officials and ad hoc workers benefitted from the bribe.

A top EFCC source, who spoke in confidence, said: “The actual amount involved in the deal was N681million. When we began investigation, the REC denied involvement in any transaction relating to the scandal.

“Each time we questioned her, she refused to own up. We had no choice but to confront her with a CCTV clip of how she went to a bank to identify one Peter Popnen (who is on the run) to collect N185,842,000.

“At this stage, she had no choice but to admit. She is still in detention pending the conclusion of the ongoing investigation. If she hadn’t wasted time in owning up, the investigation would have reached a convenient bend to admit her to bail.

“The truth is that with modern technology, there is no hiding place for any political thief again.”
twitterfeeds.com

SO MESSY! Six Killed As Lovers Clash Over Married Woman

There was confusion in some parts of Kaduna on Wednesday following the killing of six persons over a girl palaver. The incident occurred at the Badarawa Kwaru and Ungwan Yero, all in Kaduna North area.

It was gathered that six persons were feared killed while scores sustained varying degrees of injuries.

The Kaduna State Command of the Nigerian Police Force confirmed the incident. The Police PRO in the state, DSP Zubairu Abubakar said several suspects had been arrested in connection with the crisis.

He said, “So many arrests were made, but I cannot tell you the number of people arrested until I find out from the office. However, calm has returned to the two communities.”

As of the time of this report on Wednesday, there was heavy presence of soldiers and police who forced some residents of the area to remain indoor as several gunshots were fired into the air at interval.

Eyewitness accounts said the fight started between two men on Sunday night over a lady.

A source told Punch that a man from a neighbouring Kwaru community came on a motorcycle to Unguwar Yero to see his alleged concubine, who is the wife of a man in Unguwar Yero.

He said, “The woman was the girlfriend of the Kwaru man, who used to give her money when they were dating. But the lady in question married another person. But after their marriage, the lady and her ex-boyfriend were still dating.

“On that Sunday evening, the Kwaru man came as usual to look for his concubine. They met as usual, but the husband, who was already suspecting his wife, trailed her to where they were standing. So, when he accosted them, the Kwaru man stabbed his concubine’s husband in the stomach.

“The husband later died before he could be rushed to the hospital. But what got people of the area angry was that, when Governor Nasir el-Rufai visited the place, he begged the people to be patient, without taking any action to bring the culprit to book.

“That was why Unguwar Yero people also started attacking people suspected to be Hausa-Muslim.”

Sources say six people have so far been killed as a result of the fall out of the adulterous affair.
A Lagos-based lawyer, Olajide Sipe, is in a critical condition at a
private hospital after he was tortured and shot at by some soldiers on
the 7th Avenue, FESTAC Town in Lagos.

It was learnt that the officers were deployed in the community to guard the NNPC pipelines.

They
were, however, said to have left their duty post for the Mobil Filling
Station on 23rd Road to coordinate motorists queueing to buy fuel.

Punch reports that the lawyer was driving home in his Toyota Camry when
he was held by a gridlock on the road. The soldiers were reported to
have stopped a bus on the the road.

Olajide was said to have advised one of the officers to park the bus by the roadside to free up the gridlock they created. As
he drove off, the soldiers reportedly mounted a motorcycle and began to
chase him. It was said that they shot at him, but the bullets hit the
car’s back tyres.

They were said to have waylaid him on 72 Road, where they tortured him, rendering him unconscious.

Narrating his ordeal to Punch, Olajide, who is married with a child, said his only 'crime' was that he advised the soldiers.

He
said, “I went to buy bottles of water for my family and on my way back,
I got to Mobil Filling Station and I discovered there was traffic,
which was caused by a bus on the road.

“A solider stood in front
of the bus and was telling the driver something. I was in my car when I
advised him that he could have asked the driver to park by the roadside,
instead of inconveniencing other road users.

“He asked who I was
to advise him. I told him I was only trying to give a solution, but he
started drawing closer to me with his gun. I was alarmed.

“Another
officer stood at the front of my car and started kicking one of its
headlights. He had a jerrycan in his hand with which he smashed my
windscreen. As I drove off, I saw that they had become four and had
mounted a motorcycle and were chasing me. I was afraid.

“When I got to 7th Avenue, I made a U-turn, but because they were coming with speed, they couldn’t do that. I
looked back and saw one of the soldiers, kneeling down and aiming his
gun at me. He shot at my car twice. The bullets deflated the two back
tyres.”

He said he pulled up and came down to pacify them, adding that the men pounced on him.

A
witness, who did not identify himself for security reason, said the
officers would have killed the lawyer who is an Ogun State indigene but
for the intervention of a senior military officer.

He said, “What
caught people’s attention were the gunshots. They used planks to hit
his head and one of them carried a big stone to smash his skull.

“He was stabbed two times in the body. One of them wanted to use a dagger to cut him when a military officer, who was passing by, intervened. He showed them his ID card and that was when they left him. As they were going, they vandalised his car.”

It
was learnt that residents, who knew the victim, rushed him to the Mercy
Gate Hospital, a private medical facility in the area.

The Medical Director of the hospital, Dr Solomon Ekundayo, said the victim sustained serious injuries.

The case was said to have been reported at the FESTAC Police Division.

A family member, Bunmi, asked the government to give justice to his
brother, saying the officers should be fished out and punished.

He
said, “Those officers wanted to kill him. They were posted to the 7th
Avenue to check activities of pipeline vandals; they had no business at
any filling station. We want them fished out for punishment.

“We
also want the military authorities to clear my brother’s medical bills,
repair his car and compensate him. The case should not be swept under
the carpet.”

Lagos Police PRO, SP Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the incident and that investigations has commenced.
twitterfeeds.com

CCT & CCB Law Amendment in Senate to Cover Saraki's Acts – Senator Opens Up

The spokesperson for the Senate Unity Forum, Senator Kabir Marafa, on Saturday evening urged Nigerians to discountenance the ongoing plans by the Red Chamber of the National Assembly to amend the Code of Conduct Bureau/Conduct of Conduct Tribunal Act as it would be a wasted exercise.

He went ahead to alleged that the amendment is to introduce immunity clause for the Senate President.

Marafa, an APC Senator representing Zamfara Central, who stated this in an interview with Punch in Abuja on Saturday, also described the proposed amendments as “dead on arrival.”

“What my colleagues are trying to do is laughable because it’s an effort in futility. It is a constitutional issue. Are they trying to amend the Constitution of Nigeria with an act of the National Assembly?

“The sections they are trying to amend are clearly stated in the constitution and could only be reviewed through a legally acceptable constitution amendment process.”

Marafa described his colleagues who had been sponsoring some bills in the Senate in recent times to save Bukola Saraki as “new comers who lack basic parliamentary knowledge and experience.”

He said, “They had listed for amendments, Public Officers Protection Act; Administration of Criminal Justice Act; Code of Conduct Bureau Act and the Code of Conduct Tribunal Act.

“Their intention is to alter all these constitutional provisions just because of an individual. How can you anchor bills amendments around an individual?

“I don’t know how they want to alter the constitution to extend immunity clause to the senate president when it is only the president, vice-president and the governors that are covered in the constitution.”

Marafa said he refused to contribute to the debate on the CCB/CCB amendments on Thursday on the floor as doing so would amount to a waste of precious time.

He said, “I refused to talk because I know they are embarking on an exercise in futility. It’s a mere jamboree and sheer waste of tax-payers money.

“Nigerians would definitely wait for them at the public hearing and they would be told that trying to make laws around an individual is a waste of the nation’s resources.”

Marafa appealed to stop making themselves a laughing stock in the public by trying to carry out legislative activities with the sole aim of frustrating the trial of Bukola Saraki at the CCT.

He added, “Instead of learning the ropes, even senior lawyers among the new senators are jumping the gun by initiating bills to save their boss [Saraki] from criminal prosecution.

“All of them should be dragged before the Senate Committee on Ethics for smearing the image of a reputable institution like the Senate.”
twitterfeeds.com

Soldiers Have Located Boko Haram underground Food Storage

Gallant troops fighting the Boko Haram sect on Sunday announced that it had uncovered the storage facility been used by the terrorist group to hide food at Biggoro, Warpaya and Aura, North of Kumshe in the notorious Bama area of Borno State.

The Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Sani Usman, said in a statement that the storage contained large quantity of foodstuff when it was discovered.

Mr. Usman also said the troops also found that the terrorists were mounting sentries on tree tops to help them gather intelligence on the advancement of Nigerian soldiers, and were dislodged.

He added, “The surprised dawn attack yielded positive result as the troops discovered well concealed observation posts on trees in the villages constructed by the terrorists to give them early warning of troops movement or approach."
twitterfeeds.com

Follow me Video By A-lex

twitterfeeds.com
