I recently shared my idea with my coworkers about crocheting tote bags out of plastic grocery bags. This is what they brought to me, and this was only from 3 girls!

Making the plastic yarn

It makes it much easier to make the "yarn" if you use a cutting mat , clear grid ruler, and rotary cutter.

Stack the bags and flatten them on the mat.

Remove the top part with the handles, and the bottom edges.

Cut the bags into about 1" strips.

They will be big circles like this.

Insert one circle inside the other ,

Then make a knot

Keep tieing and roll them into a ball . I separated mine into colors to be able to make stripes on my bags.
Later I will post a picture and tutorial for crocheting the bag.

I have started a shop on Etsy , check it out . http://www.etsy.com/shop/ired?ref=si_shop. I have decided to try to sell some of the quilts and afghans and diaper bags . It only has two items right now , but will have more soon. Glad to have found a sight where handmade articles are treasured and admired . Hoping people will like the one of a kind gifts I make with repurposed materials.

Well , it has been an exciting couple of weeks here with the new grandbaby. Although it is busy I did find the time to make the diaper bag. This is item # 3 from the 2 twin sheets. The crib sheet is on the bed and I forgot to take a pic. I plan to make a diaper caddy next . Loving being a grandma!

I have been enjoying the new grandbaby this week, he is five days old. Also this week I have been sewing for his room. I bought 2 sets of twin sheets at the goodwill for 10.00 total, and I am going to see how many things I can make with them. So far I have made a crib sheet , and matching quilt in the winnie the pooh theme. Now I am working on a diaper bag, it is almost finished, I am making it up as I go, so we will see what happens.

Well , guess I need to get ready for hospital tomorrow. Having surgery to see what the mass in my lung is . Been sick the past couple of weeks and Dr. decided to do thorascopocy tomorrow to see what it is. Hope to be back on soon to give good news and get back to work, suprisingly I miss it . Not feeling too well right now , going to get some rest. So good night , see everybody soon.

Uses for baking soda

Keep near the stove for grease fires.
Sprinkle in bottom of trash cans for odors
Whiten your teeth by mixing a tablespoon of baking soda with a cup of water to brush with , remember to rinse afterward.
Make a paste with baking soda and water , place on stained counter/tub etc, let set for few minutes, then scrub with cloth , this is less expensive and less abrasvise than other cleaners .
Mix a teaspoon of baking soda with your shampoo in your hand , the baking soda will remove buildup and is less expensive than clarifying shampoo.
Make a paste of baking soda and small amount of water on burned / stained pots and pans , let set for a few minutes then scrub , shines them like brand new.

Please be patient while I am learning a new way to use my computer . You should be able to click on a lot of my pictures to direct you to the website where I got the pattern, yarn etc. Hoping that someone will benefit in some way to either learn a new craft, save some money , or even earn some money like I have in the past by selling some of these creations.
Maybe some of you will just enjoy the pictures while I am trying to learn how to use my new digital camera. I will try to share with you how I took the pictures , settings etc.
