Looking with Daddy- MDSM14

It's Monday and time for another MDS Monday Challenge! Yep, It has only been one week since we last posted a challenge, but we are going to start posting a new challenge every week, but the challenges will still be open for two, so it give you plenty of time to create something and share it with us!

For this challenge we have a sketch. It looks like more of a card sketch, but you can make it into a page too, like I did:

I am trying to get all the pictures I want to use in my daughters "first year" scrapbook scraped and put in to an album so I can take advantage of the 25% off digital print pricing until June 15 promo going on!

I kept this page simple, just like the sketch. But I think it works with the pictures of my daughter and husband. I used the Back to School kit on my page.

After I made my page I decided to make a card using the same Back to School kit. Here it is:

The card came together real quick, thanks to the kit! :)

Here she was just learning to sit up! I used the Summer Happiness kit on my page as well a little white Bakers Twine. The font in Melon Mambo is Scribble Box and the rest is The Only Exception.

It's Monday and time for another MDS Monday Challenge! It is my turn to provide a sketch and challenge. My challenge was to use the sketch I provided as well as using a monochromatic color scheme on the page. Here is what I made:

I used Rich Razzleberry as my color and decided on that because of the shirt my daughter is wearing. The DSP and the frogs are from the Hoppy Memories kit and I just re-colored them to a Rich Razzleberry hue. I still do not know if this page just looked like a grape exploded all over it or not! :)

It's May 1st and that means Stampin' Celebration Inspiration Challenge has a new challenge for you! Here is what I made using the bright inspiration colors:

A page of my daughter and her friend in the bath tub last October. I used the On thr Go kit for the boat, fish and sun. The wavy stitches are the Scallop 2 from the Staples and Stitching and the big title font is A Song for Jennifer and the small is Eternal Promise.

First Bath- MDSM12

It's Monday and time for another MDS Monday Challenge! It is Holly's turn to provide a sketch and challenge. She is challenging us and you to use the brush tool someplace on your page. Here is the page I made:

Can you spot what I did with the brush tool? See the water waves? I drew those freehand using the brush tool...how fun! I used the Hello Baby kit on my page. I thought it went well with the pictures of my daughter getting her first bath at home. The font I used for the title is called Scribble Box and the journaling is Digs My Heart.

Here is the sketch:

The big circle in the middle of the page kind of freaked me out at first, but then I played around with it and got something to work and I like it! Thanks for the challenge Holly!

Spring Hop- MDS Blog Hop

With the theme this time and it just being Easter, I made an Easter page. Here it is:

I kept it simple. The embellishments and DSP are from the Spring Fever kit and the doily in the back is from the kind-of-new download Paper Doilies. I did recolor the DSP from the kit to Wisteria Wonder and changed the opacity to make it match her outfit.

Simple page, but now it is ready to go in our 2013 album!!

First Airplane Ride- MDSD11

It's Monday and time for another MDS Monday Challenge! This time Tara has a sketch for us as well as a little challenge. She is challenging us and you to use primarily only one (your favorite!) kit to design your page with. Here is the sketch:

Honestly, I was a bit intimidated by the top left part of the sketch. But I sat down and challenged myself and here is what I made:

It is a page about our daughters first airplane trip this past February! I used the Sent with Love kit (I wouldn't call it my favorite, don't know if I have one, I like them all!!, but this kit was perfect for my pictures, so it was my favorite for this page! lol!) The only thing not from the kit are the clouds...but I felt the page needed clouds, so I added them.

A Board Book for Our 1 Year Old- MDS Blog Hop

When my daughter was born and we had her newborn pictures taken, I wanted to put them in an album so I could have them all together and then also give the grandparents an album too, so I created an 8x8 board book of them. I continued the tradition for her 6 month pictures and now, I have made a 12 month one as well....here it is (well...not every page, just a sampling of a few of them):

As you can see I kept the album pages real simple and clean so the focus is on her. I used the Convention 2012 kit and went with the trendy chalkboard theme.

I just got the finished printed board books today and they look FANTASTIC printed!!!

Visiting Santa for the First Time- MDS Monday Challenge

It's Monday and I have some exciting news! I was invited to me apart of the MDS Monday Design Team! I am very excited to be apart of their team! MDS Monday is a My Digital Studio challenge blog that posts a new sketch and usually a little challenge or technique to go with it every other Monday which makes for a fun way to try new things with MDS!

Today our hostess is Joan and she created this sketch:

Although this is a double spread, you can take the option of selecting only one of the pages to do if you like. The bit of "technique" this week is to use a frame ON TOP OF YOUR PHOTO to highlight something within the photo.

So here is the page I made:

I went with the one page option (the page on the left) and you can see that I mirrored the sketch. I used the Letters to Santa DSP and then used the Candid Frames kit for the frames on my page. The font is called Irish Spaghetti.

Feeding Herself- Subway Art

Hip Hop, Happy Easter!- MDS Blog Hop

I was looking at Pinterest the other day and saw an Easter card that caught my eye and knew I could make it in MDS, so I did...here it is:

It is a CASE for sure!! But I loved what I saw, I knew I didn't want to make it much different. I used the Timeless Type punches for the "Hip Hop"'s and filled them with the Eggceptional Easter DSP. The bunny is from the Little Additions kit and I freeformed the little hop dots.

8 Months...6 Months ago-MDS- SCIC64

It's March 1st and that means Stampin' Celebration Inspiration has a new challenge for the month! Here is what I made this month:

I made a scrapbook page of my daughter at 8 months! Hard to believe this was 6 months ago! I used a designer template from SU's Lemonade Stand kit and just put butterfly's in place of the original flowers on the page. I saw this layout and knew it was perfect for this month's inspiration pictures:

The colors I used on my page are Island Indigo, Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo, Ridding Hood Red, Rich Razzleberry and Old Olive. Pretty simple and easy page!

An Album Full of Paintings- MDS Blog Hop

My Grandma is an amazing water color artist and she is getting older and has not been bale to paint in years. My family decided it would be a great idea to try to get all the pictures of paintings she has painted in her career and put them in a book so each family member, including her, could have a copy. To get all the pictures in digital form so I could use MDS to make a book we had to scan all the photographs of the pictures we had of the paintings. Here is the finished product:

The to make the cover and the back of the album I simply created various shapes and sizes of photo boxes and filled them all with different paintings my Grandma painted. Then I filled a square punch as big as the page with Whisper White and put it over the pictures and changed the opacity real low so the pictures were muted just enough for the title to pop.

Here is the first page you see when you open the album. We found a picture of her painting and knew it was perfect as a trubute page in the beginning of the album.

I decided to go with a simple dark grey background with a small textured print for every page so the paintings would be the main focal point of the 12x12 album.

This was a different kind of project that I usually make because it didn't include any embellishments or layers, but this album will be cherished by us all forever and I am glad I had MDS to make it easy to make!

It is a journal cover! I am going to use it to write memories of my daughter in from her one year birthday onward. I have filled up her birth to one year journal (I just noticed that both this and the first journal I made have hexagon's on them...weird! That wasn't even planned! And they are both from different kits!) I made last year, so I have been needing to make a new one and this sketch was perfect!

Everything used to make the journal is from the FREE Lemonade Stand CD you can get during Sale-A-Bration!! There are sooo many downloads that come on this CD it is a great value!

Hannah's Love- MDS Blog Hop

Here is the page I made: (It is not your typical valentines days/love page, but trust me...it is true LOVE! :)

Here is Hannah loving eating blueberries! She absolutely loves them and get excited when I open the refrigerator door and she see I get the blueberry box out.

The DSP is from the Back to School ensemble but I recolored it purple and change the opacity to 23%. I used the dolily punch from the Eggceptional Easter kit to add a little more interest to the page behind the four pictures and then added a huge flag punch behind them. I made the blueberries and bowl MDS punch art style (see below for instructions!) and the fonts on my page are "Typewriter" for Hannah and Blueberries and "A Gentle Touch" for love and the journaling.

I decided I would give you a little visual (and math lesson :) tutorial on how I made the MDS punch art on my page.

Mommy to Bee- MDS hybrid

I have a hybrid MDS project to share today! I was asked to make these for a friend who was hosting a baby shower for two moms that were due close to each other with their babies. She had found an idea very similar to what I made on Pinterest and asked if I would make her two of them for the moms. I got busy with MDS and some punch art and here is what I came up with, A fun "Mommy to bee" plaque to hang from each of their chairs!

I designed and printed out the text and background honeycomb DSP onto Whisper White cardstock and then die cut them out using the Labels Framelets and then mounted them onto a piece of Basic Grey cardstock that I had paper pierced. I made the bee using the ornament punch and added a paper pierced trail behind him. His wings are Velum cardstock that I added a little bit of Dazzling details to.

I think they turned out great and they were very easy and fun to make! Have you tried doing a hybrid project using MDS and your traditional paper supplies yet?

Desktop Love- SCIC63

Wow! It is February 1st already and that means Stampin' Celebration Inspiration has a new challenge for the month! We also have a new addition to the challenge coming mid- month, so be sure to check back here on the 15 or stop by the Stampin' Celebration Inspiration site to see what we have in store!! Here is what I made this month:

It is a desktop background for my computer I made in MDS! You can see in the picture above that it is "in use". It was real easy to make. I just opened a blank page in MDS, designed my background, saved it as a .jpeg and then set it as my desktop background using the "personalize" menu on my computer. I think I may have gotten luck with the proportions being right and it working just fine size wise.

Here is the inspiration box for this month. Bet you can't guess what picture I was inspired by?! :) The background DSP comes from the Lemonade Stand Digital Disc (free when you spend $50 during Sale-a-Bration!!) that I re-colored Cherry Cobbler to go with the love theme and the letters "L", "O", "V" and "E" are Timeless Type Alphabet punches and the ribbon is a bow from the Taffeta Trimmings.

Emery's Journal

I love making journals! They are always quick to make, but will hold memories forever!

After I gave this journal to Brook's mom, she loved it so much she asked if I would make one for her friend (Emery's mom). She told me not to use too much pink and not too girly. So I came up with this. I used the chalkboard background DSP from the Convention 2012 Photo Book kit and the flower is from the Soft Bloom's embellishments kit.

I made a journal for me to write in for my daughter when she was born and it is already full of her first year! Time to make a second year journal for her!

I thought I would share some things I had been working on last month for our daughters first birthday party which we celebrated by having a few close friends and family over for at the end of December. (Are you ready? This is going to be a loooong post!)

The first thing I made were the invites to her party:

I saw an invite from an online company that was very similar to this one in boys colors and really liked it because it showcased multiple pictures and didn't have a specific theme for the party. So I created my own 5x7" version in MDS using a few photo boxes, text (the font I used was MTF Skinny Jeans) and the colors Baja Breeze, Melon Mambo, Pink Pirrouette, Pretty in Pink and Whisper White. I had them printed by Stampin' Up!'s service and they came out great!!

These were fun and easy to make. I used the same font, colors and feel as the invites for the Thank You's. Theses were also printed by Stampin' Up!'s print services and came out great! The finished size was 4 1/4"x 5 1/2".

I decided that I needed to make some decor for our house that would match the invites and thank you that the guest would get to tie the whole party together, so I did!

I made a banner for the cake:

This was real simple and easy to do. I just printed out the same Baja Breeze polka-dot DSP that I used on the invites and thank you's and then got some Melon Mambo and Pretty in Pink card stock and punched banners out using the Petite Pennants Builder punch and glued them onto a piece of Bakers Twine and attatched it to a few small wood dowels and stuck it in the cake! Perfect!!

And then a few nights before the party I saw a fantastic idea on Pinterest for a first birthday party decoration and decided to had to make it too!

I made a picture timeline of Hannah's first year:

This was fun to make!!! (The hardest part was figuring out what three pictures from each month of her life to choose to be printed and used! :) ) To make this picture timeline, I had three pictures printed from each month of her life, clothes pined them (of course I printed out the same Baja Breeze polka-doted DSP and cover the clothes pins so they would match everything else!) to a thin rope ribbon SU! used to sell and added the month labels to the appropriate spots on the timeline.

Here is a close up of the clothes pins and the month labels. I designed the labels in MDS and then printed them and punched them out.

I think this was a great decoration for the party and people could look at how much Hannah has changed/gown in the first year of her life (it is still hanging up in our house...I do not want to take it down! :) )

That is all! I love that I could use MDS to create everything I needed/wanted for Hannah's birthday and it all matched and was made just for her!
