"The bar for Dominican entertainment has been raised", says Emile Depooter, Manager of the Triple Kay Band.

As seen in this video the band is really stepping up the front line entertainment level. Looks pretty good and I'm hoping that more Dominican bouyon bands get their show together.

The music is only half the battle, once your band gets on stage, you must give the eyes a treat as well as the ears.

We know what a pain in the *!% it was to download each individual song that you purchased from Numusiczone. We're sorry. However, you can now download one zip file that contains all your purchased songs in one file.

If you look at the image on the left, you can see we've added the zip file to the top of your song download list, so you can choose between the zip or your individual files.

To download the zip file, just click on the icon or zip file name and your browser will begin downloading the file. Simple as that. Once it is downloaded, right click on the file and click "extract" to pull out your music files.

Let us know what other features would make your life easier and we will consider them.

Visitors to Dominica for the 11^th Annual World Creole Music Festival have left the event with much optimism that they will now be able to readily access Caribbean music on the internet.

Creating Revenue For The Islands' Artists

During the three day activity in Dominica, the regions premier music site www.numusiczone.com was on prominent display at many of the activities. Roland Delsol of the Michele Henderson band says he was overwhelmed with the level of interest by visitors in the 3 year old site. He says they were particularly impressed with the range and quality of the music that is available on the site. “Many of the visitors have vowed to assist in spreading the word of the sites existence to their fellow residents in their respective islands”, he said.

On Demand Access To Caribbean Music

One visitor noted that since the introduction of the site, he has not missed any of the islands music. he says, any Dominica tune I want, I can just go to www.numusiczone.com and I will get it, that means a lot to me, because I am so far from home. It brings me much closer to my people.

One other visit for North America, says the site is the best example of cultural preservation that he has seen in a long time. He says, through the site, he has been able to introduce many of his American friends to every kind of music from the Caribbean region. “Man, I am proud of our music and I will do everything I can to help spread the word of the site, so musicians will continue to grow” he reiterated.

Growing Fast

Recent statistics reveal that the site continues to grow by over 5000 hits per week. Promoters of the site are planning a host of upgrades in the near future to include videos and areas for much more interaction among its visitors. The site also currently boats of over 460 unique artists from all over the Caribbean region and further a field.

Where Are You Going?

I was reading Guy Kawasaki's excellent book, The Art of The Start, and noted a powerful lesson/story which every musician can benefit from. It goes like this:

Albert Einstein was on a train and couldn't find his ticket after searching his pockets or bags. The conductor approached him and said something to the effect of "Dr. Einstein, everyone knows who you are. We know that Princeton(the school he worked for) can afford to buy you another train ticket."

Einstein replied, "I'm not worried about the money. I need to find the ticket to figure out where I'm going."

Like Einstein, you should not worry about the money before knowing where you are going, i.e, who your music is for and what is your direction. Everything from your lyrics, melodies, progressions, and beats should reflect that audience your music will touch.

If you can figure out where you are going, the money will follow.

John Legend: Success Without Radio

I couldn't believe this post that John Legend sold 1.7 million copies of his last album, in the US alone, without having a single that gets major radio airplay.

Just goes to show that times are changing and radio is becoming less important than it once was.

From the Wall Street Journal, Kurt Hanson's "Radio And Internet Newsletter." says:

"A growing number of musicians are marketing singles and sometimes turning them into hits without the support of radio, at least initially. Radio still matters -- a recent report by Mercury Radio Research, a company that studies the industry, found that the medium is still the primary way people discover new music. But other methods are making inroads ... Panic! At the Disco, a Nevada rock band, got an early push from Purevolume, a music fan site, and the social networking site MySpace."

So don't underestimate the power of online advertising.

WCMF Traffic Increase

Last weekend we experienced a good bump in traffic and sales, probably due to 1. the efforts of our self titled marketing expert who got us into a couple of newspapers. 2. The World Creole Music Festival in Dominica got a lot of people back to the island and could of had an impact on our visitor and sales numbers.
