My latest acquisition: a T by Alexander Wang dress. Or rather a blank canvas with endless possibilities. It's versatility fits with most of my wardrobe. Furthermore, it has the advantage that it can be dress down during the day or it can make the transition to night adding a good pair of heels. What else can you ask for?

Mi última adquisición: un vestido de T by Alexander Wang. O más bien un lienzo en blanco sobre el que poder realizar infinitas variaciones. Su versatilidad lo hace encajar a la perfección con la mayoría de prendas de mi armario. Y además tiene la ventaja de que puede llevarse de forma casual durante el día o hacer la transición hacia la noche añadiendo unos buenos tacones. ¿Qué más se puede pedir?

Norman Parkison is probably one of the most influential photographers of the twentieth century because, among other things, he took the models out of the cold studio which -at that time- was a revolution. And thanks to that he gave us magnificent pictures like the ones above.

Back from London with the feeling that time flied. I guess that's good because it means I had a great time, either way I can't help but feel nostalgic. Visiting London is always liberating at all levels, I manage to abstract from all the trials and tribulations of the daily routine and therefore the return is always hard. But I still have its effect with me, I view everything from a different light ... it is hard to explain but it feels so good.

De vuelta de Londres y con la sensación de que el tiempo a transcurrido a velocidad de vértigo. Supongo que eso es bueno porque significa que me lo he pasado bien, pero aún y así no puedo evitar sentir nostalgia. Visitar Londres siempre es una liberación a todos los niveles que me consigue abstraer de todos los problemas y tribulaciones de la rutina diaria y, por tanto, el regreso siempre es duro. De cualquier modo aún tengo su efecto conmigo, todo se ve desde un prisma diferente ...es díficil de explicar pero me siento muy bien.

Stephanie Tran has excelled herself once again and apart from her usual -as well as delightful- little black dresses, this time she did floral prints, embroideries, tailored blazers and high waisted pants and skirts combined with white cotton t-shirts...Another masterpiece.

No he podido esperar ni un minuto para enseñaros éstas fotos de la colección primavera/verano 2010 de Duskin. Stephanie Tran se ha superado una vez más, y además de deleitarnos con sus ya habituales vestidos en blanco y negro ésta vez ha añadido tejidos florales, bordados, americanas, pantalones y faldas de talle alto combinados con camisetas de algodón blanco... Otra obra maestra.

Now that the s/s 2010 shows are over it is time to analyze them. Unfortunately, with a few honorable exceptions, there was nothing that struck me. Where does that lack of creativity come from? Many will claim it is the economy's fault but I don't buy that excuse. On the contrary, this circumstance should have motivated designers and have made them see all the things one can do with very little.

But undoubtedly the most worrisome thing is the absence of critical spirit. The few bad reviews written were usually directed at intruders like Lindsay Lohan. Not that I do not agree, she must leave as soon as possible, but what about Balmain? or the mental masturbation that was Karl Largerfeld's show for Chanel? It is time to get rid of the untouchability linked to certain designers because it is an example of how simple-minded is the fashion industry to assume that everything they do is fine. Do I really have to remember that progress is only possible with critical and divergent thinking?

Ahora que los desfiles de la temporada primavera/verano 2010 han terminado es hora de hacer balance. Y por desgracia, salvo honrosas excepciones, no ha habido nada que realmente mereciese la pena. ¿A qué se debe tanta falta de creatividad? Muchos pondrán como excusa la crisis ecónomica, pero yo sinceramente no me lo trago. Precisamente debería ser al contrario, ésta circunstancia debería servir como factor motivador y hacer ver a los creadores que con poco se puede hacer mucho.

Pero lo más preocupante es sin duda la predominante falta de espíritu crítico. Las escasas malas opiniones que se vierten van por lo general dirigidas a intrusos como Lindsay Lohan. Y no es que no esté de acuerdo en que no pinta nada y deba irse cuanto antes, sin embargo, ¿qué hay de Balmain? ¿o de la paja mental que fue el desfile de Karl Lagerfeld para Chanel? Ya va siendo hora de eliminar ese rasgo de intocables que acompaña siempre a ciertos diseñadores y que es una muestra de cuan simplona es la industria de la moda al presuponer que todo lo que hagan va a estar bien. ¿De verdad es necesario que recuerde que el progreso sólo es posible con pensamientos críticos y divergentes?

Sharon Wauchob's show for spring was so good I was forced to take a break on my blogging absence. It's one of the best collections I've seen so far in Paris fashion week and I don't understand why she doesn't get more press coverage. The entire collection is very cohesive as well as wearable, without resulting tedious. I really love her take on lace, she managed to make a tradicional fabric look modern. Besides, everything revolves around black & white a colour combination that never disappoints. The worst? Jodhpur pants, I've never been a big fan.

El desfile de Sharon Wauchob para la próxima primavera ha sido tan bueno que me he visto obligada a hacer una pausa en mi parón. Es una de los mejores que he visto hasta el momento en la semana de la moda de París y por eso soy incapaz de comprender porque no recibe más atención por parte de la prensa. La colección al completo es muy consistente además de ponible, sin resultar tediosa. Me encanta la forma en la que ha interpretado el encaje porque hace parecer moderno un tejido muy tradicional. Además todo gira en torno al blanco y el negro una combinación que nunca defrauda. ¿Algo malo? Los pantalones jodhpur, nunca he sido muy fan.

A few days ago, thanks to Dazed Digital, I happened upon Kerrie Luft an English designer that creates amazing shoes. She began her design career at the University College Northampton and afterwards she moved to London to study a MA in fashion footwear at the legendary Cordwainers.

Hace unos días descubrí gracias a Dazed Digital a Kerrie Luft una diseñadora de origen inglés que hace unos zapatos impresionantes. Comenzó su andadura en la escuela de diseño de Northampton para trasladarse más tarde a Londres donde realizaría un máster en la legendaria Cordwainers.

Her latest collection called "Nouveau" was inspired by Art Nouveau and its organic forms that mimic nature. She uses materials such as titanium or silver for the heels which makes them especially unique and innovative. No stockist list in her web, yet.

Para su última colección "Nouveau" se ha inspirado en el Art Nouveau y de ahí sus formas orgánicas que imitan la naturaleza. Los tacones, para los que utiliza materiales como el titanio o la plata, son especialmente únicos y originales. Una pena que en su página web aún no haya una lista de distribuidores.

Bonny & Clyde's costume design is one of my all time favourites. There are others that I love like The rules of the game (Renoir) created by Coco Chanel or Girl interrupted , however this is special. I like how both characters wear a sort of uniform throughout the film. Bonnie, always looks elegant and never boring thanks to silk shirts, A line skirts and her signature beret. Oh! and I also adore her haircut I really wish my hairdresser would eventually cut my hair like that someday.

El vestuario de Bonny & Clyde es uno de mis favoritos. Hay otros que me encantan, como el de La regla del juego (Renoir) creado por Coco Chanel o Inocencia interrumpida, sin embargo, éste es especial. Me gusta como ambos personajes parecen mantener una especie de uniforme a lo largo de la película. Bonnie siempre elegante y nunca aburrida con camisas de seda, faldas de línea A y su característica boina. Ah! Y también ese corte de pelo que envidio y que aspiro a conseguir algún día.

I always try not to prejudice certain brands/shops and keep my eyes open because you never know where you can find something you'll like. I don't always succeed and that's why sometimes I get pleasant surprises like New Look.

Por lo general trato de no tener prejuicios ante determinadas marcas o tiendas y mantener los ojos bien abiertos porque nunca se sabe donde puedes encontrar algo que te vaya a gustar. No siempre lo consigo y por eso a veces me llevo gratas sorpresas, entre ellas New Look.

The few times I visited England I was in some of their stores and the idea of buying something never crossed my mind. However, some days ago while browsing their lookbook for next season I found wearable clothes. I cannot say whether they are good or not in terms of quality, but the fact is that the design has improved greatly.

Las veces que he visitado Inglaterra he estado en alguna de sus tiendas y nunca se me pasó por la cabeza comprar nada. Sin embargo, he podido ojear su lookbook para la próxima temporada y hay unas cuantas prendas que me parecen ponibles. No puedo hablar de ellas en términos de calidad, pero lo cierto es que el diseño ha mejorado mucho respecto al pasado.

Also, since Alexa Chung starred in the spring-summer 2009 lookbook it seems the English high street store is looking for new targets. Perhaps, it's because their customers are getting older and New Look wants to mature with them (?)

Y es que desde que Alexa Chung protagonizase los anuncios de la temporada primavera-verano 2009 parece que ésta marca del high street inglés busca nuevas metas. ¿Quizá sea porque su consumidor se está haciendo mayor y New Look quiere madurar con él?

Every Sunday afternoon is devoted to reading newspapers and their magazines. Without exception, I always read a section of Magazine called "Globish" written by John W. Wilkinson, in which he -usually- examines the etymology of an English word that is sometimes connected to a piece of news.

I have found today's article particularly interesting, so I'd like to share with you. Due to the translation some parts may seem a nonsense. Please, forgive me.

"When we say blue jeans we mean denim jeans. Jeans come from Gene, which by variant spelling, refers to Genoa, where this type of pants was manufactured. Levi Strauss began to make them in California during the gold rush with a very rough fabric called denim, which comes from serge de Nimes, a fabric from that city in France, therefore, we can speak of a denim shirt or denim skirt. Corduroy is also of French origin, it comes from corde du roi (the king rope), a heavy fabric like velvet with vertical cracks, but if called velveteen is smooth, and different to velvet. Tweed's name, however, came by chance after a London merchant mistook it with tweel, which is the name the Scots gave to this resistant wool fabric."

Wilkinson, en la que -normalmente- analiza la etimología de una palabra inglesa que suele conectar con algún hecho concreto de la actualidad.

La de ésta semana me ha parecido particularmente interesante y por eso me gustaría compartirla con vosotros. Lee así.

I hate summer. It's always the same, the same story. Time seems to stop, or even worse, it seems to run against me. Every single year, without exception, I wish it would go away, I want the autumn to arrive and my stability with it. And each year, I miss it when it's over.

Odio el verano. Es siempre lo mismo, la misma historia. Parece que el tiempo se detuviese, o peor, que corriese en mi contra. Cada año sin excepción deseo que se vaya, que llegue el otoño y la rutina y con ellos la estabilidad. Y cada año, después de que se haya acabado lo echo de menos.

-Erica Weiner Penis Bone necklace. For no specific reason, I simply like it.

-Colgante de Erica Weiner. Ninguna razón específica, simplemente me gusta.

-Repetto ballet flats. If I finally get them it will be in patent leather, I think they will last longer.

-Bailarinas de Repetto. Si finalmente las compró será en charol, creo que resistirán mejor que las de cuero.

-A big shawl in an earth tone. The one in the picture is Margiela, but unfortunately is out of my budget.

-Una bufanda grande en tonos tierra. La de la foto es de Margiela, pero mi presupuesto no da para tanto.
