The simply-amazing view of down-streaming waterfalls

The 1,142ft landmark had been drenched by six months' rainfall in a single day when it was snapped this month by amateur photographer Peter Carol.

Ayers Rock - which is called Uluru by the Aboriginal people who live nearby - is in the country's dry Red Centre and just six inches fell there last year. The rock is 270 miles south of the nearest city, Alice Springs, and measures about a mile wide and six miles around the base.

English explorer William Gosse reached the area in July 1873 and named the landmark Ayers Rock after Sir Henry Ayers, then Chief Secretary of South Australia.

China claims world's fastest supercomputer

When it's about speed, everybody want to beat the rest and be at the top.

China has claimed the title of the world's fastest supercomputer, wresting the record from the United States.
The Tianhe-1 machine at the National Center for Supercomputing is capable of sustained computing of 2.507 petaflops, the equivalent of 2,507 trillion calculations, per second, the Chinese project director tells state TV, according to the Associated Press.

Dongarra says the Tianhe-1, which means Milky Way, "blows away the existing No. 1 machine."
Officials from the National University of Defense Technology say the machine is "under the dual supervision of the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Education," The Times reports.

Asteroid would impact ozone layer

A large asteroid smashing into the Pacific ocean would devastate the ozone layer for years afterwards, report planetary scientists.

The simulations find by experts:

Ocean impacts of 0.6-mile-wide asteroids "can produce a significant, global perturbation of upper atmospheric chemistry."

"Ozone depletion comparable to Antarctic ozone hole records observed in the mid-1980 s and 1990 s, occur worldwide" after such an impact, lasting several years.

Ozone depletion would cause ultraviolet light levels that can be dangerous for living organisms. "In the Tropics, and in mid-latitude summers immediately after the impact, (ultraviolet levels would ) greatly exceed the highest levels currently experienced anywhere on Earth."

An ocean impact of a 0.62-mile wide asteroid "would have a long-lasting negative impact on global food production, which, in turn, may affect the sustainability of the current human population."

Effects of a smaller 0.3-mile-wide asteroid would have less far-reaching effects, limited to the hemisphere of the impact and with less duration.

Skype integrating with Facebook!

The new Skype for Windows has a joint collaboration with Facebook and will include a Facebook tab, which means that first-time Skype users can keep up-to-date and interact with their Facebook news feed. The Facebook phonebook, the same one that you find on your mobile if you have Facebook on it, allows users to text and call their Facebook friends directly to mobile phones and landlines. If your Facebook friend is also a Skype user, then you can make free video calls too! Group video calling is also available in Beta as a free trial.

Skype has 560 million registered users, 8.1 million of these pay for the service, whereas Facebook has over 500 million users.

Commentator Ben Popper of business technology blog BNET.com said, "For Skype they are getting built right into the conversation. For Facebook, which has the bulk of its users in the US, this is good in terms of expansion because a chunk of Skype users are in Europe and the rest of the world. The deal makes this space a lot more interesting and indicates a different direction of where communications could go."

The Skype version 5.0 for Windows is available now. It has not yet been announced when the Mac or Linux versions will be released.

BBC Bosses confirm Merlin fourth series!

The hit BBC One drama Merlin is set to return for a fourth series!

The third series is due to end on your screens on the 4th December and BBC bosses have confirmed filming for a 10 part series 4 will start in March 2011.

The show that stars Colin Morgan as Merlin, Bradley James as Prince Arthur and Anthony Head as King Uther has attracted audiences of more than six million in its third series.

Ben Stephenson a BBC controller says: "Merlin continues to perform outstandingly well against The X Factor."

The creators of the series Johnny Capps and Julian Murphy say: "Were delighted with the continuing success of Merlin, and relish the chance to take the series to the next level with the long-awaited arrival of the Knights of the Round Table.”

I'll be sure to watch this series again! X)

New earth-alike planet??

Scientists all over the world are getting excited over a new planet which has similar qualities to earth! That means the planet can spare living space for us??

The planet is named Gliese581c, a bit wider than our earth and located about 120 trillion miles away? Trillion?? Naa, that sounds like a very very ++ long distance but in term of universe, it is very close to us!

It is not too close to the sun, nor is it to far away from the sun, so it is not too hot or too cold for life to survive there. This means the new found planet, which is named Gliese 581 could have water and the right atmosphere.

This new planet means that there could be hope for more planets in space which could be home to living things.

R. Paul Butler, who is one of the astronomers who discovered the planet said, "This suggests that potentially habitable planets are very, very common."

So who knows, we could be finding lots of new planets, even ones with new life on them! But if you ask me, I would say sure there is some inhabitants there, maybe it's the one we called as ALIENS? Who knows??

Designs for cars which have a 'different' specification to other vehicles are being built by some of the world's most famous manufacturers!

Top cars manufacturers including the big names; Honda, Mercedes and Maybech are competing for a green award at this years Los Angeles Car Show. They were invited to come up with "comfortable, stylish and safe" vehicles which run on renewable fuels and weigh no more than 1,500lbs, which is lighter than a Mini Metro.And the designs are really amazing with great-sport alike.

Honda has submitted Air, which is inspired by rollercoasters and skydiving suits, runs on compressed air and weighs just 800lbs. Entries of cars have been submitted which are grown from seeds! Other models have built-in computers that can link to a city's transport infrastructure to avoid traffic jams. Another design is the Mercedes-Benz Biome, which would be created in a lab from organic material and would use energy from the sun like a plant. The Nissan iV will be built from fast-growing ivy and a substance influenced by a spider's web. Volvo's Air Motion uses thousands of fewer parts than a traditional car due to powerful compressed-air motors.

The winner of the 2010 Design Challenge will be announced on November 18. Click here for the other car designs. This is a great news to me as it's mean the winning car design will be manufactured soon... I think?? :D My fav is the Honda Design. <3.

The Crowned World's Largest Skateboard!

Considering the rapid development and current, non-stop technology changes, lots of people has made great attempts to be in history- yeah, that's feel great! And this is about the world Largest SkateBoard (for the time being).

Measuring in at 40ft long and 6ft high, it is 21 times longer and wider than your average skateboard! It is longer than a double decker bus and it's so big it has to be fitted with racing tyres from a car and has to be transported on a flat bed truck. It can fit more than 10 people in a go! Wohoo!

It cost over £12,600 to build and it weighs in at a whopping 260st (1651kg!) and it can accommodate up to 40 skaters

The skateboard took a month to build by three people in California, USA. The board is made from steel, wood and grip tape.

Joe Ciaglia, the designer and one of the builders of the skateboard said: 'The board is about fun - it was fun to build, it is fun to ride and it is fun to see everyone's reaction to it!'

Beware of your bread! As you might ends up like this guy...

A man was left agitated after he found a dead mouse in his loaf of bread when he was about to make his children some sandwiches.

Stephen Forse, father-of-two, thought that the bread just had a little bit of discolouring but when he looked to inspect the weird colour he saw that the object was Infact a dead mouse.

Mr Forse said yesterday: "I noticed a dark coloured object embedded in the corner of three or four slices.

"Initially I thought it was where the dough had not mixed properly prior to baking. As I looked closer I saw that the object had fur on it. Mr Forse continued to prepare some sandwiches for his children from another loaf of bread, checking each slice carefully.

He said: "I still felt quite shaken. As I was feeling ill I couldn't face eating anything myself."

When the environmental health officers visited the home to collect evidence they not only found that it was a dead mouse, but they also found that the tail was missing.

Mr Forse said: "Her comments made me feel ill once again as there was no indication as to where the tail was.

"Had it fallen off prior to the bread being wrapped or had any of my family eaten it with another slice of bread on a previous day?"

During court, Premier Foods were forced to pay £16,821 on Friday; they pleaded guilty to the coincidence and ensured that all stages of food production were protected against any contamination and failing to maintain a robust pest management system.

Cherwell District Council technical officer Aileen Smith said: "Mice harbour disease, particularly salmonella which can result in severe diarrhoea, vomiting, fever and can be fatal to children, the elderly or those with a compromised immune system."

A Premier Foods spokesman said: "We apologise profusely for the distress caused as a result of this isolated incident."

If it were me, I swear I'll never eat any bread loaf again. A lil' buddy called mouse in my bread?? NO NO!

Bionic Arm and its Young Owner!

Patrick, the youngest person to have a bionic arm!

Patrick has a bionic arm, which is controlled by his brain, because he suffered meningitis as a baby this meant he had to have his arm and his leg amputated. His friends said "He's a ROBOT!" because he has a bionic arm-which is controlled by his brain.

"My bionic arm is amazing. I can do almost anything with it. I can cut up my food, tie my shoelaces and I'll even be able to drive when I'm old enough!"

Here's how he got his robotic arm...

Patrick was extremely overwhelmed with happiness when he noticed an article in the newspaper advertising robotic arms, he thought it looked like a good idea so his step-dad called up the company to query them about their robotic products.
The company explained that Patrick was just the right candidate to have one.

So when he got his super robotic arm he didn't realise how simple it would be, all he had to do was switch it on and slip it in place! And working the bionic arm was just the same thing you have to do with a normal arm, and that was to use your brain to send messages to your body.
His brain would send messages to the muscles in his arm therefore making it move. Patrick thought it couldn't be simpler!

When Patrick arrived at school with his new arm everyone was amazed. Patrick's friends said he looks like something out of transformers!
He said, "On the first day I had it, the battery ran out really quickly because everyone wanted to check it out and shake my hand!"

Patrick can do almost everything with his bionic arm and do whatever he needs to do and live a normal life.

Technology is the future for flights?

A new in-flight experience which will be based around technology could be the future for air travel!

A new report, which was carried out by Amadeus IT Group and Oxford Economics, has overlooked air travel as a whole and it is being considered whether "cabin subclasses" should be introduced. The "virtual" cabin would have smartphones in the hand rest, but for those who prefer a quieter traveling experience, passengers will have access to WiFi, games and other forms of entertainment. Passengers will be able to choose their seat depending on their preferences. There will also be more basic preferences such as meal choices, accommodation and fare details for a more efficient service.

The report emphasises the importance of listening to what the customer wants whilst combining new and traditional ideas. Amadeus IT Group, who carried out the report, has suggested that airlines should offer tailored packages and services which will help to improve the whole travel experience. And it looks like it is not just flights which are changing as the whole travel industry will be seeing big changes, including the way we travel.

Paul Simmons of easyJet has said, "Many people are starting to 'mix and match' their travel choices - choosing to use low-cost carriers but to stay in five-star hotels upon arrival."

The rights over "POD" trademark!

Apple is in a legal battle over the right to use the word 'pod.'

A projector called 'Video Pod' being developed by Sector Labs, who create electronic devices for businesses will undergoing case's court for the battle with Apple brand over the use of "pod". Apple has said that the use of the word may cause confusion among customers.

The legal claim for 'pod' will be fought in a US court next month. Apple has filed an 873 page briefing paper to the court showing its claim to the word. Sector Labs is due to file out its papers in early October. Both documents will be sent to the US patents office which will then judge their claims.

Ana Christian, Sector Labs' lawyer has said, "What I'm hoping to do with this case is to really reach a lot broader an audience and make it so entrepreneurs and small businesses can use the English language as they see fit in branding their products."

The row began in 2009 when Sector Labs announced the name for its product. This is not the first time that this has happened; Apple has fought over the word 'pod' a few times!

A rare pink HIPPO!

Pink hippo spotted in a African country!

The pink hippo has been sighted in Kenya by two British photographers, brothers Will and Matt Burrard-Lucas who were walking through the muddy waters, it is described as shy.

"It was a young one as it is much smaller than the other hippos and always stayed close to its mother. It was nice to see the other hippos treated it no differently to any other. It was also very shy and after spotting us it hid behind its mother before disappearing into the water," says Will.

A few pink hippos have been sighted in Uganda but never in Kenya. Pretty cute I must say, it's HIPPO and it's PINK!! :D

Wireless chargers in 2012!

With all the tech revolution - wireless broadband, wireless phone, etc; now it's the time for the wireless charger to take place ( at least in 2 years time).

Japanese electronics firm Fujitsu have developed a wireless recharging system which uses magnet technology. The system will be capable of charging the batteries of mobile phones, digital cameras and laptops without the need for leads. It can charge batteries which are several metres away and could lead to "wireless charging hotspots" in public places. The wireless recharging system will charge batteries 150 times faster than the usual time needed, and it just gets better....Fujitsu are also looking into applying a system to power up electric cars.

This "world first" works by sending electricity across magnetic fields between the wireless charger and electronic device. A slim power receiver and manufactured prototype mobile phones with wireless charging have been developed. The firm have claimed that the prototype mobile phones can charge anywhere within the power-transmitters range, with 85% efficiency. Tests found that the performance of the chargers depended on the size of the transmitter's coil; the optimal coil size for charging three devices took only 10 minutes.

Fujitsu have said, "This technology paves the way to integrating compact wireless charging functions into mobile phones and enabling multiple portable devices to be charged simultaneously without any restrictions on their position with respect to the charger."

The firm are hoping that the product will be on sale in 2012!

Shrek Fish lookalike discovered!

This fish was found off the coast, of Japan, it has a large chin, bumpy head and also many other characteristics which relate to Shrek. Even though this fish looks different among other sea creatures out there, this is actually quite a common fish which lives in the waters where it was found, and appears in the same place quite often.

Blobfish are known to be one of the ugliest fish under the sea, which also relates to why the fish is called Shrek, ‘Shrek the fish’ also has a big chance of becoming the world’s ugliest fish, but isn’t that a bit mean, poor fish!

Zombie studies at US university

By mentioning the word "Zombie", creepy or horror sight might appeared in our mind. And now Zombie studies has been added to the curriculum at the University of Baltimore, United State.

This new course will allow students to analyse and de-construct classic zombie movies from the last few decades. They'll also be able to write their own horror movie scripts.
Jonathon Shorr the chairman of the university's school of communications design says the new minor class has been introduced to meet the high demand for ''interesting, off-the-wall'' courses.

"It's a back door into a lot of subjects. They think they're taking this wacko zombie course, and they are. But on the way, they learn how literature and mass media work, and how they come to reflect our times."
"We're going to be dealing with some of the truly disgusting stuff that's been done in horror over the years. I want to reinforce the degree to which this material can be found offensive by a lot of people. This is not fluffy bunny cartoon stuff. Bunnies might show up, but they'd probably be torn to pieces."

Seems like another form of Media studies for me. :) But, what I've learnt is that Zombies are not living dead, they're sick people infected with some kind of viruses or diseases (have you ever watch I am Legend, Will Smith? It's kind of started with the same point. :))

Drastic weather changes over the last 48 hours have meant that Scotland could witness snow as early as NEXT WEEK!

The weather is out of our limits and controls and Britain's residents could NEVER cope with it, so it's going to be schools out for children and chaos across the transport networks.

All of that aside, weathermen have reported a change in the weather drastically It is very rare to see snow during September, but it seems winter will start next week. If snow does occur in parts of the UK, it could turn to the cold snap of September last witnessed in 1919. Snow time could brings great chaos!

Johnathan Powell, a weatherman, explained: "a tail-off in temperatures, with possible snow in Scotland over any higher ground." "It's rare for snow to fall in September, but we're seeing the mirror image of the late winter snow we had in May," he added. The Met Office are already advising households to turn on the central heating by the weekend as temperatures right across the UK will dip lower than first thought to around 3 Celsius.

Temperatures will take a further tumble... So is Britain ready for a "possible" cold snap? I have to admit it that these kinds of natural phenomenon-disaster is freaking my bones deep inside. With the huge hurricanes and etc....

Hurricane Igor become bigger in scale!

While you're having your tea time or spending time to relax and lie under the sun, you'll probably never notice that a HUGE storm is going to strike in northern America.

Hurricane Igor, currently a Category 4 Hurricane (with winds of 150mph), could strengthen into the strongest type of hurricane, a Category 5 Hurricane (with winds of 156mph or higher)! The last hurricane that was Category 5, was Hurricane Felix in 2007!

Recently, the hurricane transformed from a Category 2 into a Category 4 Hurricane. Today, the active Hurricane Igor could strengthen into a Category 5 Hurricane (the strongest type of hurricane) as it moves rapidly towards the United States of America! The hurricane already has winds of 150mph, 6mph lower than a Category 4 Hurricane! It could brings a massive destruction to some northern proportions of the world and people in the risky areas are being told and advised to be extra careful.

The National Hurricane Centre in Miami stated that "Igor is continuing to become more intense a rapid pace". Behind Hurricane Igor, another storm is brewing, this storm is called "Tropical Storm Julia", (with winds up to 45mph), Tropical Storm Julia is the 10th storm of the 2010 Atlantic Hurricane Season!

Hurricane Igor is moving west-northwest, it is already said that it is traveling to the Leeward Islands, which are located in the Northern Caribbean. Being the fourth hurricane of the hurricane season, Tropical Storm Julia could also become 'Hurricane Julia' on Tuesday, making it the fifth hurricane of the 2010 Atlantlic Hurricane Season! Also, the three hurricanes before Igor were "Hurricane Alex", "Hurricane Danielle" and "Hurricane Earl". Hurricane Alex was only a Category 2 Hurricane, meanwhile, Hurricane Danielle and Hurricane Earl were Category 4 Hurricanes, like Hurricane Igor (which is currently active).

Jamie Oliver's new baby!

Jamie Oliver's wife gives birth to a baby boy and they are now parents to the son they have longed for!

For those who doesn't have any idea who is this Oliver guy, Jamie is one of the crowned world's best prestigious chef along with Chef Wan. This is the couple's fourth child but their very first son. They have three girls together called Poppy Honey, Daisy Boo and Petal Blossom Rainbow. What a nice name! :)

The new arrival, named Buddy, was born naturally on Wednesday weighing in at 6lb 9oz. Continuing their tradition for strange names, Buddy's middle name is Bear. His second middle name is Maurice, after Jools' late father who died in 1997 because of a stroke.

Jamie updated his status on his Twitter saying , "It's a baby boy guys!!! We're all very happy, mum was amazing and both are well and happy."

Rapper Kanye West has written a song for the 20-year-old singer Taylor Swift.

West has written a song for swift- is it a way to say 'I'm really sorry for what I've done and I'm truly apologising?'

It's been approximately a year since the incident which involved West rushing to the stage and snatching the microphone off Swift when she was about to receive the award for best female video. He later said that Taylor didn't deserve the award and shouted Beyoncé should have won. West tweeted, "It is distasteful to cut people off as a general rule. What's the point of dressing tastefully if I'm going to act the complete opposite?" He later posted, “When I woke up from the crazy nightmare I looked in the mirror and said GROW UP KANYE... I take the responsibility for my actions."

West and Swift will meet again on 12 September for this year's VMAs. Let's hopw both of them can cope well. I'm not Kanye West fan neither Taylor Swift but I definitely love the LOVE STORY song. :)

Four children found dead in a freezer!

Four children have been found dead in a freezer after a game of hide and seek apparently went tragically wrong.

The bodies of the children - all brothers and sisters, aged between 6 and 11 - were found by their father in central Turkey. He went to to search for his children as soon as he realised they didn't show up for quite a time. The father, who works as a shepherd, found them at an abandoned house in the city of Konya.

An investigation into the deaths has been opened and it is believed that the children died of suffocation, but post-mortem examinations are due to be carried out soon.

The children's family have questioned whether it was an accident as claimed or if they could have been murdered, as their Uncle, Mustafa Ucer, told NTV: "Kids cannot lock the door from the inside. When we found them one was on the top of the other".

Hurricane Earl travels closer to USA!

As Hurricane Earl is downgraded from a fierce-some category 4 hurricane to a category 2 hurricane, it is travelling ever closer to the coast of Eastern USA! With winds up to 105mph (165km/h), Hurricane Earl is the second major hurricane of the 2010 Atlantic Hurricane season; the last one before Earl was Hurricane Danielle. Already, the tail of the hurricane has reached places such as North Carolina and Virginia!

Hurricane Earl has already affected the islands of the Caribbean, especially Puerto Rico (in Puerto Rico, the damage cost up to $150m). In the Caribbean, the storm got stronger. The strongest of which Hurricane Earl made was being a Category 4 hurricane (with winds up to 155mph)!

Hurricane Earl is expected to travel from North Carolina, all the way to Nova Scotia in Eastern Canada! US Weather official stated that Hurricane Earl would "remain large and powerful."

Already heavy rain has hit the coastal islands of North Carolina, late last night! US Officials stated that Hurricane Earl is definitely getting larger! The storm will hit the US Coast by Labour Day, the 'traditional' end of Summer in USA!

However, there's more trouble than Hurricane Earl. Two tropical storms are already around the Atlantic Ocean! Tropical Storm Fiona and Tropical Storm Gaston; these two tropical storms are soon to be Hurricane Fiona and Hurricane Gaston!

*I'm speechless with most of what is being thought as natural disaster phenomenon. Lately, it had been too frequent and it's kind of scary to me( to be honest). I've read the predictions made by the Mayans that the earth is going to reach its end at 2012. And now, with more and even more natural disasters to come I'm freaked out at it.. really.. I wish to see 2020 with my own eyes.

Shoes & eggs thrown at ex PM

There must be so much hatred for you when you're still being envied and hated even after your retirement. This happens to ex President of UK, Tony Blair as he held the first public signing of his new book. During the event, shoes and eggs were hurled at him. While hundreds upon hundreds of people queued up yesterday to have their purchased books signed by the ex prime minister, Blair, the incident will definitely brings a bad memory to everyone who's present at the time. The book ''A Journey'' is already a best-seller, but it angers opponents of his policies. For example the invasion of Iraq (2003)

Around 200 demonstrators chanted about Blair and how he has ''blood on his hands,'' as he arrived at a bookstore in Dublin.
Many things were thrown toward the ex prime minister as he emerged from a car, including shoes and eggs, but thankfully he is able to escape and none of these projectiles hit him.

As ever security was tight, with book buyers who seem to have outnumbered the protesters (2:1), told to hand over any bags or mobile phones before entering Eason's book store, O'Connell Street.

Scuffles did break out between police and demonstrators, especially when some demonstrators tried to force their way through the cordon erected for security. Two arrests occurred and the culprits bundled into the back of a security van. Some demonstrators, including one wheelchair user took it upon themselves to lay themselves in the van's path. Riot police were brought in to remove them. What a bad day, huh?
