After a prolonged inactive phase, I have resolved to return to writing on this "Helping Hand."

I really missed writing and engaging with readers through this medium. The major reason is that nowadays, people use YouTube and other video sources to find the information I usually share here. However, I still believe that reading is a completely different pleasure.

I've noticed a trend of poor reading habits among teenagers. I will try to encourage them to start reading blogs instead of watching reels and shorts :)

Effect of COVID on Students preparing for Entrance Tests like JEE and NEET

COVID has affected almost every aspect of our day to day life, and the education sector is no exception, probably one of the most affected ones. Almost in all the countries, the educational institutes are closed in an attempt to contain the spread of COVID. As of 7 June 2020, about 1.7 billion learners are currently affected due to school closures in response to the pandemic. As per UNICEF, 134 nations are presently implementing nationwide closures, and 38 are implementing local closures, impacting about 98.5% of the world’s student population.

Now coming to what’s happening in our nation and especially for the students aiming for entrance tests like JEE and NEET, I will start with what the students who were ready to face these exams in April and May this year. Typically in India, due to the stiff competition for prestigious IIT or MBBS seats, a student prepares roughly for two to four years to achieve this dream. Now when they were gearing up for these exams and almost completed the board examinations, COVID came as unlikely destruction, and they got informed on the night of 19 March that exams will be postponed.

Students getting anxious due to new postponements

Few days after they were told that the exam will now be taken in July-August. It was a setback to them, but still, they digested the news with the hope that this extra time will help them prepare well and improve their weaker links. One good thing announced by National Testing Agency, NTA, is that they released an app called NTA Abhyas, which will provide one mock test daily for JEE Main and NEET, and it’s a very well made app. Till date, it’s doing that for 54 days now, giving the student an excellent testing platform without any cost.

But as time progressed, the situation started getting worse with each day, and almost 15 days before the scheduled JEE Main HRD minister announced that the exams are further postponed to September. Now, this tareekh pe tarrekh style of HRD minister is making them nervous and increasing their stress as it is still looking unlikely that exams will be conducted in September or not. Notably, the students who have prepared hard are now finding it tough to focus now. They are wondering that IITs and others have announced a complete semester to be conducted virtually and if they are not in a position to call students on the campus why there’s a rush to conduct these exams. For mentors like us also it’s tough to help them plan strategies because things are getting far worse each day with India now recording 25K+ patients every day. Plus, these students are not the priority for coaching institutions as they have already paid what they were supposed to, and they have become a sort of a liability to them. For coaching, newer students are always the priority because they have to milk more money out of them.

Adaptations by coaching classes

For students who have entered class XI and XII this session, they are exposed to online mode of teaching, which is new to most of them plus new for the coaching institutes as well. In India still, the majority share of test preparation market is with brick and mortar model of coaching. As the saying goes, necessity is the mother of invention, almost all coaching institutes have tried to adapt to this unexpected change, but here instead of invention, they are mostly in a jugaad mode, you can say. They all are reluctant to invest in the technologies mostly because they still believe it’s a temporary phenomenon. When it started in March, no one expected it would last till July. Now it seems it might go on even in the next session. Also, because most of the teachers also were not accustomed to this mode of teaching, what we are seeing is that the learning experience, which wasn’t the best even before, has deteriorated even further. There have been too many instants of network disruptions as you see jokes on social media that student reciting counting says 55 after 44 as the network was lost when the numbers in between were taught. Even the experiences from those million dollar startup’s who are feel this as their Paytm moment after demonetization are also far from satisfactory.

Many institutes are trying to find out the best alternatives even by adapting their strategies frequently. However, still, no one seems to have come up with the magical formula partly because I feel peer to peer discussions and doubt solving sessions are very important in this learning process. But I am hopeful this experience will help to develop some hybrid model down the line which I feel is the best way to deal and even scale-up,

The problems are more for students who have taken admission to an institute for the first time and don’t know any teacher, and the teacher also doesn’t know anything about him. Plus, most institutes are in a rush to cover the syllabus and demand the next installment of fees without actually caring about what is learned by students.

This pandemic has hit the cash flows of schools and coaching institutes poorly. Hardly any school or institute is paying their employees their full salary even many haven’t paid anything since March. Many employees have been asked to leave. Almost all coaching institutes has seen a drop up to 50-70% in admissions, plus those taking admissions are also not depositing the requested fee. I fear many small schools and coaching institutes won’t survive this pandemic. The situation looks very bad for them.

Plus, one thing that I will like to point out is that hardly any school or coaching is concerned about counselling the students about the judicious use of Gadgets, and some are even having 5-6 hrs, daily classes. So students screen times have crossed more than 8 hrs as he has to read and practice questions also from Pdf files, and it'll effect their eyes and mental health. I fear we are pushing them to become digital zombies. However, some have sent hard copies via courier to students to take care of this aspect.

Possible long term future for coaching classes

From this experience of more than 120 days of this teaching in pandemic times, I feel that 100% online mode of learning won’t work for 15-year-old kids. The personal connection with the teacher , the bond we talk of is missing plus peer to peer discussion is also absent in this. Plus, you don’t have that motivated students who will attend these lectures daily and complete their assignments. Even the innovation in imparting concepts using digital tools is missing badly. No course provider matches 10% of the quality you see on Coursera. But still, I believe online learning is there to stay but as a supplementary and complementary to our traditional teaching modes. Also, I am hopeful there will be some who are keeping student and learning in focus and will come out with some outstanding solutions, and as I said, hybrid learning models should evolve in the meantime. Also, it would be better if agencies declare that the exams will be conducted only after the pandemic situation is improved. They would be intimated 45 or 60 days before the examination dates.

70 Days Preparation Strategy to Crack NEET 2020

Hello Friends

Yesterday Dr Nishank our HRD Minister announced that the NEET2020 exam scheduled on 26th of July is now rescheduled to 13th September.It was not unexpected because the situation as it is panning out, it is quite clear that holding such a large exam of 15-16 Lakh students on a single day throughout the country is impossible.

But still this is heartbreaking specially for those students who are preparing very hard and were really geared up to realize the dream of becoming a doctor by cracking the exam on 26th of July.

Now you must be wondering how will I prepare the next 70 days as I have already done the syllabus very well , given all tests scored well now what else to do? This article is for all for those who have done well and for those who haven’t prepared so well.Exactly I’m not going to tell any strategy as I am not let me say I’m not a superman or I have a magic formula that it take this one spoon for 70 days and you will become a doctor.

You will have to chalk out your strategy yourself as you know yourself better than anyone else. I will only be suggesting some guidelines that can help you prepare well in the 70 days.

1. Stay Positive

Firstly I’ll say be positive and have self belief , you have to be really positive at this time your family, your friends could sense your positivity and you should be feeling that I’ll make the full use of this extra time, lets say if I was scoring 600 marks don’t worry I will now try for 650+, if I was scoring 450 marks I am thinking that I will have to drop one more year, so now that’s the opportunity ,

now let us try for 600+ score this time. This might be the blessing in disguise for me!

Can you jump from 450 to 600+ ? Yes, why not!

How to do this will try to figure it out

2. Do a Reality Check of Where you Stand Today

Firstly I’ll ask you to prepare a list of all the topics make sure which topics you are good in and which topics are giving you some anxious moments.Before starting the preparation you must be clear what you know at present.

Now for this look at the sample it’s sort of matrix see all the columns and check what you know and what you don’t know.

If any two check boxes are not checked that means the topic is not strong,and now I’ll advise devote the first 15 days in overcoming your weaker areas. Just remember the weakness can be worked in the initial period only because in the last we will only be relying on our strength. Our strengths are only going to fetch us the marks.

If in these 15 days you can add 3-3 more topics in each subject that means effectively you can add nine questions and nine questions means 36 marks and 36 marks means 5% and 5% marks can make or break your chances.

This is easily achievable in these 15 days.

3. Make a Study Schedule and Follow it religiously

Now then make a study timetable and follow it religiously. Apart from this exercise or practice yoga daily for it least 20 to 25 minutes and that too in the first one hour after you wake up in the morning.After waking up do something which makes you sweat and that will is going to definitely give very much positivity to you that will make up your mood and being a bio student you know better than me what it does to your mood.

4. Increase study time gradually

Now since this news might be a heart break for You so I will just say initially start with 7 to 8 hours study and as you progress towards the exam increase it to 8 to 10 hours and then from 10 to 12 hours I myself have never studied more than that so I won’t say study for more than 12 hours.

Not talking about our target let’s say for a student from general category of Rajasthan to get an MBBS seat he needs to aim for at least 600+ marks. The ideal combination for this is score 320+ in biology score 150+ in chemistry and 130+ in physics.

Keeping in mind this combination biology becomes very important because we have to score the max in biology so I will say if you study for 10 hours devote 4 and 1/2 hours or you can say roughly 45% of the time to biology.

Similarly 30 to 35% time to physics and remaining time to chemistry.It’s not necessary that you have to study all three subjects in the same day you can study even one or two but I’ll see at least two subjects in a day must be studied.

Physics is specifically I will say study physics in that time when your mind is more alert more receptive preferably in the morning hours let’s 8 to 11 or 9 to 12 or maybe if you are comfortable in the evening or late night you can do that.

5. Learn from Past but don't live in the Past

If you are weak in one subject don’t make that memory loss so long key it will remain weak it was weak okay learn from your past but don’t live in your past . You have to learn from past not to live in the past. Work on the weakness and try to make it your strength.

6. Patience and Dedication

For getting success in such exams you need four things commitment, dedication, patience and hard work remember dedication and discipline will beat the intelligence and giftedness every day in the week. Have faith in your abilities, there might be a student who was more intelligent was scoring more than your marks in each test but now have a believe that you can chase him you can do better than him.You are not competing with anyone else you’re competing with yourself try to improve that to become a better person more better examination temperament with each passing day.

For detailed subject wise study strategies I will be posting some videos pretty soon.I’ll be talking to my friends who are experts in different subjects to come up with very useful ideas.

7. Tests Frequency

Next I want to discuss about what should be the ideal test frequency now. If you have already given too many test for example NTA has released 47 tests till now then I will say for initial let’s say 3 to 4 weeks give only single test per week and that preferably from that NTA Abhyas app.

No point in giving daily test for example if you’re scoring 500 every time what is the use now it’s time to 1st increase your range first have learn something extra that you can help score more.

For next three weeks give two tests per week preferably one from NTA and one from your institute test series.

For last 3 to 4 weeks you can give 3 to 4 days per week again two from NTA and two from your institute test series.

No need to give more tests than that and just remember give all these tests from 2 to 5, the time that you are going to appear in the NEET examination have your biological clock set in that mode never sleep from 2 to 5 in the day time every day and make your mind receptive at that time practice questions at that time

These are some basic guidelines that I have discussed with you I have not gone into the details .Because I believe it is you who have to devise your own strategy it’s your battle I can only help from outside. I haven’t seen you I haven’t met you once I’m talking gradually I don’t know you are good in chemistry or you are bad in physics I am giving only some suggestions based on my experience and on the basis of what my students have done in all these years thanks for reading.

With the new guidelines , chances of JEE/NEET exams to be conducted as per announced schedule seems difficult. Since many parts of metro cities are still under containment zones it seems very tough. But again exam is 45 days away and things can turn positive also.

Plus in these 45 days you have to watch out for state board exams like Rajasthan state education boards have on 18 June, even CBSE has exam dates in July and if they are conducted successfully then there’s still a chance that they might be able to conduct on declared dates.

But being a student you should not be worrying and tracking all these news items, I will advise you to continue with your revision schedule. Be +ve and if get more time learn more to score more. Happy Learning!!

Preparation strategy for JEE Mains and NEET during these two months

Dear Students,

We are in this lock-down mode from last two months and most of you must have altered your preparation strategy as per the changed scenario and dates. This #Covid-19 outbreak has shocked the whole world and it wasn't expected by anyone.
Lets come straight to the point.You all now have around two months to give final touches to your preparation (assuming the exam will happen on the dates announced by HRD minister).
So what should be the ideal preparation plan you must follow.

1. SELF BELIEF AND POSITIVE ATTITUDE

Irrespective of how much you have studied and prepared till now, you have to maintain a positive attitude because worrying too much about what you haven't done won't improve your performance. It is very much likely that your rhythm has broken and due to some casualness or any other reason you didn't utilized these two months of lock-down effectively and your scores are as a result coming below your expectations. So my simple advise is to first get over from this lagging out or left-out feeling and give your best possible efforts for the remaining time without worrying too much about the outcome. Now your time should be spent on actual preparation and not on worrying about how to prepare.

2. FOLLOW A TIME-TABLE AND TRY TO STICK TO IT AS MUCH AS YOU CAN

You should be ready with a timetable/timeline about the topics you are going to complete or revise. You daily study timings should also follow a pattern instead of random studies. Have a fixed time schedule allocated for reviewing strong topics, separate time for strengthening weaker links and also for mock/practice tests. Ideally you should be devoting 10-12 hours daily towards your preparation. Do take at least half an hour for some exercise/yoga preferably early morning. Also spend about an hour of quality time with your family and even giving them confidence by your positivity as they too are worried about your exam/career.
For adhering to the time table I will suggest pin it on a board near your study area, clearly chalking out daily target in the morning and reviewing them in the night. This review aspect is very important and acts as a positive feedback.

3. MAKE A TOPIC CHECKLIST/MATRIX TO IDENTIFY HOW MUCH YOU HAVE COVERED

A friend of mine suggested making a checklist table for topics a sample of which is shown below

This is a sample for NEET aspirant , for JEE MAIN you can change accordingly. This will help you keep a track of the depth up-to which you have covered a topic and help you in planning immensely.

4. EXAMINATION TEMPERAMENT

This is the thing which separates men from boys and I am saying it with full conviction based on my experience both as an aspirant and also as a coach. I always suggests that focus on a question at a time and if the question seems to be out of your range, leave it quickly and proceed to next one, never try to make predictions inside the examination hall about every question or half an duration. Your full concentration must be on the question you are attempting and nothing else. This is the way to avoid all careless or calculation mistakes. Read every word of the question very carefully. You can take hep of your mentors and you should talk to them to feel better for this particular aspect.

5. MOCK/PRACTICE TESTS

You should give at-least two full test per week out of which at-least one should be full syllabus based test. Your coaching must be taking those tests online plus I personally suggest to use NTA Abhyas APP fpr that full syllabus mock tests as they are actually mirroring the real exam plus the panel of experts who have designed are the same who makes the paper. The UI of the app is also good and the solutions/ explanations are also very nicely given which can help you prepare better. Even I will advise you all to view each and every question released on that app. That is the best question bank to practice in this period. They are uploading one test every day so you don't need any other test/ question bank to test your preparation.

So these are some points that I have shared with you which should help you in preparation.

What should be my last 15 days strategy for JEE Mains to maximize my score ?

Dear Aspirants,

JEE MAIN 2020 January attempt is now just 15 days away . To help you in making your strategy for these last 15 days, below are the few suggested guidelines from my side for your help:

1. Previous year papers: Well instead of trying the available mock tests of famous institutes or books it is wise to practice the previous year papers of actual JEE MAIN. You have more than 10 papers of JEE MAIN 2019 available on official website and almost all other sites. Try to attempt them like the actual examination. Even you needn't attempt all papers if you have time crunch.This will help you in getting a feel of the examination, what to expect, how much to attempt, how not to waste time.

Since this year the pattern has changed and now you have numerical response questions , so you should try solving some subjective numeric questions plus brush up the concepts of significant figures.

2. Identifying Your Scoring Areas: After practicing these papers you should have an idea about which topics you can and should focus to score marks. Roughly the three subjects have 90 odd chapters and you can easily leave 10-15 chapters without hurting your performance.

3. Work on Strengths: Frankly speaking you don't have much time now to build up confidence over a topic which you have hardly studied till now so smartness suggests that instead of working on your weaknesses it is more wiser to work on strengths. Remember there's no sectional cutoff here, so if you feel you love Chemistry work harder on it and try to score say marks above 70 in chemistry by devoting 55-65 mins of examination time. Ultimately the total score counts.

4. Positive Attitude and Self Belief: Irrespective of how much you have studied and prepared till now, you have to maintain a positive attitude because worrying too much about what you haven't done won't improve your performance. Remember JEE MAIN in not tough but a tricky examination. The bravery is not in attempting all questions, sensible candidate must select the questions which are in his range and devote maximum time only on those questions which are going to fetch you marks.

Mostly XII appearing students because of Board examinations feel themselves not connected with objective pattern and many negative thoughts starts creeping in. Avoid all such negative thoughts and just believe in yourself. Remember these magical words "I CAN AND I WILL"

So finally JEE has released its report for the exam conducted last year. In this post I have tried to give a summary of this report which will help the aspirants to understand the examination and be realistic in their aspirations.

Like all these years, it again summarizes the fact that JEE is very different from the normal school board examinations in terms of testing pattern, syllabus, depth of application of key concepts and the marks distribution.

To understand these points, first look at the data regarding the minimum marks needed to land up in the Rank List of JEE Advanced

The JEE Advanced 2018 was of total 360 Marks and to get into the rank list you just need 25% marks and that too for an unreserved category student. The barrier is further reduced for the reserved categories. You might be wondering that this must not be a difficult task. Let’s explore

So to be able to feature in top 17597 students out of approx 12- 13 Lakh students you need to solve approx 1 out of 4 questions correctly J.

Now lets explore the raw marks scored by the candidates in the JEE Advanced 2018

So you can clearly see that there are many candidates whose scored less than ZERO marks and do remember Advanced is given by the candidates who have first passed the filter of JEE MAIN.
Now look at the data of qualified and admitted (i.e. those who gor into IITs) students

Lets look at the same data for individual subjects. First see the performance in Physics

Next have a look at the data for Chemistry

Its quite interesting to note that the mode (maximum number of students scoring that particular mark) is ZERO. I have seen students last years clearing the overall cutoff but failing to clear the Chemistry cutoff and the graph explains this clearly.

Last is the Mathematics

So candidates scores the most in Physics in JEE Advanced 2018.

Now lets compare the marks obtained by candidates in JEE MAINs and JEE Advanced

So you can see the difference in the marks in Chemistry in JEE Mains and Advanced, Chemistry is the easiest to score in Mains but most difficult in Advanced.

So all those who are preparing or thinking to prepare for JEE Advanced should be mentally ready for the fact that when they will give practice tests for JEE Advanced scores would be very different from what you are used to see in your school exams.

Seats in IITs to increase in order to implement EWS

As per the media reports, IITs will , on average implement around 4% EWS quota this year.

“With the introduction of EWS category in 2019, IITs are going to offer around 500 seats to EWS candidates, which is approximately 4%. The increase in the total number of seats will be less than 9%. Thus, the total number of seats will cross 12,500,” said Prof A K Chaturvedi, IIT Roorkee director who is the chairman of the Joint Admission Board of JEE (Advanced), 2019.

According to an information brochure for JEE (Advanced) 2019 uploaded by IIT Roorkee on its website on Saturday, the top 2,45,000 candidates from the JEE (Main) would be eligible for the JEE (Advanced) this year. This includes 9,310 candidates for the General-EWS category and 490 for the General-EWS-PwD (physically disabled) category.

In 2018, out of the 2,31,024 candidates shortlisted after the JEE (Main), only 1,65,656 students registered for the JEE (Advanced). A total of 11,279 seats were offered by the IITs in 2018, an increase of 291 seats from 2017.

Siddharth Pandey, chairman of JEE (Advanced) 2019 IIT Delhi said: “This year, IIT Delhi will be implementing 5.6% EWS quota. We will have an overall increase of 105 seats. For this, we are already constructing a girls’ and a boys’ hostel. We have also explored accommodation outside the premises.”

This is the question everyone asks "Which exams I should appear in?"
Every year i write this answer to help you in deciding this crucial question. Here is the version for students aspiring for engineering admission in 2019.

CATEGORY 1: Must Fill

A) JEE: JEE is an all India common engineering entrance examination which is conducted for admission in various engineering colleges and courses all over the country.

JEE is being conducted in two parts, JEE-Main and JEE-Advanced.

JEE-Main exam is for admission in IIITs (Indian Institutes of Information Technology), NITs (National Institutes of Technology), CFTIs (Central Funded Technical Institute) and IIEST Shibpur, for admission to its dual degree programme.
Examination Pattern: JEE-Main Exam has two papers, Paper-1 and Paper-2. Candidates may opt for either or both of them. Both papers contain multiple choice questions.

· Paper-1 is for admission in B.E./B.Tech.This has 30 questions each of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

· Paper-2 is for admission in B.Arch and B.Planning .

From this year, this exam will be conducted by National Testing Agency and student can attempt it two times - first in January and second in April. the best of two scores will be used for merit list preparation. Forms for January attempt has already been filled.
For April attempt forms will be available between 08 Feb, 2019 - 07 Mar, 2019.

JEE-Advanced is for admission in Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).The merit list is purely on basis of performance in JEE ADVANCED examination.Students who qualify JEE-Mains can appear for JEE-Advanced examination. Approximately 200,000 students qualify to appear for JEE-Advanced examination.

A candidate can attempt this exam a maximum of two times and that too in consecutive years.

Examination Pattern: It consists of 2 papers of three hour duration each taken in two shifts on same day. Both papers have equal number of questions of Physics, Chemistry and Maths. It is available in two languages- English and Hindi. Candidates have to attempt objective type (multiple choice) and numerical answer type questions that are designed to test comprehension, reasoning and analytical ability of candidates. Some sections carry negative marking also.

1. Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs)

To promote high quality scientific education, research and training, Ministry of HumanResource Development (MHRD), Government of India has set up six Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs). They offer a five year BS-MS Dual Degree program. It has three channels for admitting students

1.Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) Basic Science Stream

2.Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced)

3.State and Central Boards

Applications are invited in June month.

2. Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST)

It is the first university in Asia to be solely dedicated to the study and research of outer space.It was inaugurated on 14 September 2007 by G. Madhavan Nair, the then Chairman of ISRO. IIST was set up by the Indian Space Research Organisation(ISRO) under the Department of Space, Government of India.It offers three different courses in B.Tech were offered, namely B.Tech in Aerospace, Avionics and Physical Sciences.

Admissions are based on performance in JEE ADVANCED. Forms and detailed advertisement is published around month of April.

3. Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology

It is a training and education institute that gives technical and management training to the petroleum industry and was formally opened on July 2008. It has been accorded the Institute of National Importance status and admits undergraduate students from the rank list of students who have qualified JEE(Advanced) Examination.

4. Indian Institute of Science (IISc)

Bachelor of Science (Research) Program is a new program offered from 2011. It is designed to serve as a launching pad for research and doctoral studies in science and technology. Major disciplines currently offered include Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Materials, Mathematics and Physics. Admissions are based on scores from the following national examinations: KVPY-SA, KVPY-SB, KVPY-SX/SB+2, JEE(Mains and Advanced), AIPMT.

Following are some prominent colleges which admit students on basis of JEE MAIN examination:

1. IIIT HYDERABAD

IIITH is one of the top Computer Science institutes of the country. The institute runs Computer Science courses and research projects and is focused on research. Admissions are based on performance in JEE MAIN Paper-1 examination. Also it admits students through a seperate exam UGEE for itsdual degree programs.

Forms are generally filled around March/ April.

2. IIIT Delhi/NSIT/DTU

Admissions to these institutes are done on basis of JEE MAIN rank. A separate Joint counseling is done for them. Separate forms are filled in June end.

3. DAIICT, Gandhinagar

The institute's offers B.Tech program in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) .Admissions are done on basis of JEE MAIN. Separate forms are to be filled in May/June.

4. LNMIIT, Jaipur

It is one of the better private colleges in India. Admissions are based on JEE MAIN Paper -1 Score. Applications are invited generally in March/April.

5. NIRMA, Ahmedabad

Institute of Technology, NIRMA University admits students on basis of JEE MAIN examination. Applications are invited in June month.

Also if your state is conducting seperate examination for engineering entrance, you must apply for them.
The other exams you can think of if you feel admission in above colleges will be a tough task for you you can apply in one or two of below mentioned examinations.

CATEGORY 2: OPTIONAL

A)VITEEE- For admission in VIT. This year it will be in month of April and will be a computer based Test. The forms are already on their website.

B) SRMJEE : Forms are already available on their website

C)MANIPAL ENTRANCE TEST (MET-2019)-Forms will be available soon. LAST DATE TO APPLY IS 15 MARCH 2019

D) COMEDK: This is one of the good exams for students who can't perform very well in JEE/ BISAT. Scoring here is not that tough plus you have some good college available through this exam.

JEE MAIN 2019-1 : How to maximize your score in last 3 weeks

Hello aspirants!!!
This time JEE Main-1 is going to be conducted in January and now you have about 3 weeks left for it. To help you on how to maximize your score in this exam , here are some suggestions from my end.

1. Previous year papers: Well instead of trying the available mock tests of famous institutes or books it is wise to practice the previous year papers of actual JEE MAIN. Just collect last three years offline and online papers and try to attempt them like the actual examination. Even you needn't attempt all papers if you have time crunch.This will help you in getting a feel of the examination, what to expect, how much to attempt, how not to waste time.

2. Identifying Your Scoring Areas: After practicing these papers you should have an idea about which topics you can and should focus to score marks. Roughly the three subjects have 90 odd chapters and you can easily leave 10-15 chapters without hurting your performance.

3. Work on Strengths: Frankly speaking you don't have much time now to build up confidence over a topic which you have hardly studied till now so smartness suggests that instead of working on your weaknesses it is more wiser to work on strengths. Remember there's no sectional cutoff here, so if you feel you love Chemistry work harder on it and try to score say marks above 100 in chemistry by devoting 60-75 mins of examination time. Ultimately the total score counts.

4. Positive Attitude and Self Belief: Irrespective of how much you have studied and prepared till now, you have to maintain a positive attitude because worrying too much about what you haven't done won't improve your performance. Remember JEE MAIN in not tough but a tricky examination. The bravery is not in attempting all questions, sensible candidate must select the questions which are in his range and devote maximum time only on those questions which are going to fetch you marks.

Mostly XII appearing students because of Half yearly and Pre-Board examinations feel themselves not connected with objective pattern and many negative thoughts starts creeping in. Avoid all such negative thoughts and just believe in yourself.

Remember these magical words "I CAN AND I WILL".
