Usually the cause is psychological, and related to dominance, in the animal’s relationship with its “pack” which, in your case, are the family members.

You may also be facing a case of fear aggression, where your pet is negative towards other animals. The best training for such an aggressive dog behaviour emphasizes the reliability on the owner; a dog that trusts its master or mistress will limit the aggressive behavior. In the same category for the training of aggressive dogs fall the over-protective pets that regard the owner as personal territory and becomes aggressive when strangers, or strange animals, approach.

The training of an aggressive dog may attempt to solve the problem of a trauma that has been caused to the family members, and sometimes it is pretty difficult to learn to trust your pet again. Even if you have the word of a special consultant in the training of aggressive dogs, it will still take some time before you can stop being cautious. Therefore, the owner has to be an important part of the training of such an aggressive dog, since progress must be gradual and trust regained without the danger of it creeping back enters one’s mind.

For professional assistance in the matter of training aggressive dogs you can reliably turn to the Internet for help and guidance. Such as The Dog Training Expert where you will learn the steps on how to develop a healthy relationship with your pet.

The importance of the owner’s presence during the training of an aggressive dog comes from the fact that dogs learn by association. If for instance it is used to showing aggression when it is about the house with you, it will stick to this behavioural pattern. Consistency is the key word for the training of an aggressive dog; don’t repeat the same mistakes and don’t change your attitudes abruptly!

DOG TRAINING VIDEOS

Dog training videos

Dog training is the oldest and most common solution to bridging the understanding gap between people and dogs as their best friends. There are plenty of solutions to help dog owners train their animals and one of the most popular is the dog training video.

Sold online or in special pet stores, dog training videos provide comprehensive techniques and tricks that can turn the most disobedient of animals into an obedience example. People often prefer dog training videos to individual trainers for a variety of reasons.

First of all, there is the money issue; dog training videos are a lot cheaper than special training classes. Furthermore, many dog owners want to be actively involved in the training process and, with the help of a dog training video, they can experience the two sides of the training: the fun part and the practical one.

When you’ve got a puppy, it is all the more rewarding for you to be the one to train it on how to target focus or fetch and retrieve. Dog training videos come with very professional solutions that can be put to into practice by people who otherwise don’t have a clue on the subject.

The lessons presented by dog training videos are gradual and take you step by step to achieve the behavior patterns you want for your pet. It is a good idea that you watch every training stage on the dog training video, several times. Then you have to put the lessons into practice with your dog. Of course results will appear in time, but make sure you are persistent in the exercises and skills to be used, otherwise they’re wasted.

Some other members of the family may want to get involved too so watch the dog training video together and exchange opinions. However, it's important only one trainer should work with the dog at a time, in order not to create confusion.

Keep in mind that all the tips presented on a dog training video need to be integrated in the special context of your house. Avoid giving your pet conflicting orders and don’t use too complex a linguistic structure. As you’ll learn from any dog training video, short words like ‘sit’ or ‘down’ are most effective, and remember that the dog is receptive first and foremost to the voice pitch. You don’t need a dog training video to tell you that animals are susceptible to a raised voice for instance and may become defensive.

Here are details of some dog training videos that I'm sure you will find usefull. However, what most people do not know is that when it comes to potty training a puppy, some are easier to train than others as there are various differences between breeds. So, if you haven’t made up your mind yet about which breed to choose, this aspect really needs to be taken into consideration.

How difficult could potty training a puppy be? I hear you ask. If you know the answer to this question, then you’re on the way to a wonderful friendship with your soon-to-be dog.

When you’re potty training a puppy, you have to be reasonable with the very young ones. They simply have very little control over their bladders and bowels, so as soon as they realize they have to go, it is almost always too late to hold it. Therefore, potty training a puppy must be an exercise in patience for you too. Please don’t get angry with it, since sometimes it is beyond control. Be sure to keep it off your carpets until you’re sure it is reliable.

Now, let’s have a look at some basic tips for potty training a puppy. First of all, it is best to train the pup in ways that work both indoors and outdoors.

The key to successful potty training a puppy is to take it to potty after every meal; make it a routine to take the pup out first thing in the morning and last thing at night. If you want to apply some general type of potty training for puppies, take the doggie on a leash to the spot you want it to use. After it potties, play with it for a while or offer it a reward so that the pup may grow up with a clear idea of what pleases you or not. Try to feed your puppy on dry food, at the same hour every day, as this will give regularity to the animal’s bowel movements too.

Young animals need lots of water, so you must consider that when you’re potty training a puppy. Make sure it has a water bowl during the day time, but take it away two hours at least before bedtime. This will allow you the chance of potty training the puppy more efficiently and also saves the risk of nasty accidents over night.

Make sure the spot where the litter it uses to potty indoors is clean all the time, as dogs are very clean animals and they truly want to stay that way.

For those of you who don’t feel like potty training a puppy maybe the best solution is to buy an older dog that is already trained. If you feel up to the challenge let The Dog Experts be your guide. (see below) where you can find the first steps to teaching new things to your puppy. General puppy training tips apply to all breeds so don’t worry about this aspect; the only possible problem is that some dogs are more difficult to potty train than others.

The huge pleasure a puppy brings around the house may fade a little when you realize you have to waste a lot of time cleaning after it. It is therefore important that you start training the dog from day one, so here are some puppy training tips you may find useful from the outset of a relationship with your new friend.
There should be permanent access to the potty/dog litter area and the first puppy training tip has to be to never allow your dog eliminate on carpets, tiles or hardwood floors.

The first puppy training tip is not to allow it to eliminate just anywhere; you don’t want such accidents when the dog becomes an adult. However, please be aware that no puppy training tips are going to turn the pup into a reliable dog until it is at least six month old. And remember, training only creates good habits - and these require constant reinforcement.

Then the next very important puppy training tip is to teach it how to love and respect you, and this has very much to do with learning self control. Just like with small children, puppy training tips insists that you don’t give in to every whim of your puppy; you are the leader and you set the rules. Up to a point, there is dominance, but basically we’re talking about respect and friendship. Be aware, by respect we mean love and attention combined with discipline. Puppy training tips are not for bullying and terrorizing your pet.

Probably the top puppy training tip of all is to make your dog as sociable as possible. Dogs that develop fear are likely to show outward signs of aggression too, and this should be avoided at all costs. You can socialize the animal by inviting people to meet the pup so this puppy training tip is that the pet get friendly and accustomed to having strangers around the house.

Seeing that guests are no threat to you and the house environment, lies at the basis of this puppy training tip. Keep it in mind and you won’t see your dog attacking anyone. Mind you, there is a difference between invited and uninvited guests and some dogs can grow up to be TOO sociable, and useless guard dogs!

To learn more go to visit . They cover all aspects of dog training, incThe Dog Training Expertsluding potty training for puppies.

BEYOND BASIC DOG TRAINING

Beyond Basic Dog Training

Beyond basic dog obedience training has become much better understood by the general public following the publication of Diane Bauman's guide 'Beyond Basic Dog Training'.

This book opens the door open to the secrets of an entire training philosophy, and it has been successfully used up to the level of preparation for canine competitions. Beyond Basic Dog Training helps you understand the principles and patterns on which dogs learn, proven to be a dual system of trial and error. With Beyond Basic Dog Training you will learn to apply corrections in a positive way, teaching your canine friend not to fear failure.

As Diane Bauman proves in Beyond Basic Dog Training, to be successful you have to understand that from both parties are thinking. There is the “thinking handler” in charge of the “thinking dog”, so don’t ignore you’re pet’s “feelings”. On the contrary stick to an effective development of the communication level. With Beyond Basic Dog Training you will come to achieve more than obedient behavioral patterns; you will better understand your dog and learn to respect and listen to its needs. We’re talking about security, trust and confidence and lots of fun too.

With a guide such as Beyond Basic Dog Training you can have entertaining classes with your dog in the comfort of your backyard. At least you’ll be 100% sure of the methods used, since you are in total control.

With Beyond Basic Dog Training you’ll turn your dog into a great companion, so it's therefore very good for puppies to benefit from this fast and very humane way of teaching.

It is perhaps the time now to answer a simple question: why would anyone go beyond basic dog training?

Going beyond basic dog training means getting to understand the more complex structures that make your dog what it really is; you come to appreciate a wagging tail more than you would have done before. Books such as Beyond Basic Dog Training may prove to be the right choice and the best source of information for strengthening man-animal friendship. Being able to see your dog succeed in performing complex tasks is the reward every owner and amateur trainer seeks.

For another insightful source have a look at www.dog-training-expert.com. But what exactly do we mean by the power of positive dog training?

The answer is not too complex: basically the power of positive dog training means the ability to develop skills and obedience in your dog while avoiding physical punishment. It is not yet proven that the power of positive dog training can solve all kinds of behavior problems, but we are convinced that a lot more loving methods can be used in teaching obedience to an animal.

The power of positive dog training has gained prominence in recent years as many people have reached the conclusion that forceful methods can sometimes do more harm than good. In reality, the power of positive dog training only implies a shift of attitude, a different approach to our four-legged companions. We should definitely start by changing our way of seeing them: dogs are not animals that will dominate you unless you show control first. The main aspect of the power of positive dog training is to see your pet as a creature that needs love and a good environment.

Since positive influences are so appealing to humans, why shouldn't it be the case for dogs too? They are very tender animals that become attached to the family and the environment, therefore, the power of positive dog training should work wonders on them.

If you don’t know where to start, the reward type of training is a good way. The power of positive dog training is obvious in the rewards the animal receives when it performs a certain task. However, sometimes the dog may be more thrilled to get the owner’s attention than by a toy, or even goodies. Try the power of positive dog training for yourself and see what happens.

Most animal centres now recognize, and widely use, the power of positive dog training, and of course people find it more appealing to take their pet to a place where it will be well taken care of. There are books and guides on the power of positive dog training, tackling all the methods enjoyed by both handlers and animals. If you decide to test the power of positive dog training yourself, have a look from time to time to some sites providing useful tips online. This, I believe, this one: POSITIVE DOG TRAINING.

As ever, have fun with your dog. In choosing a pet, we have a variety of choices but dogs are more preferred. One reason for this is the ability of dogs to understand and follow commands from their owners. If given proper training, a dog can understand both verbal and sign commands. However, they tend to learn hand signals easier than words because dogs are very observant of body language.

Since we don’t have an official hand signals on dog obedience training we practice commonly used basic commands and these are the heel, sit, stay, down and come. Through hand signals, you can teach your dog to sit by starting with your arm at your side. You can then move your hands toward your chest, facing your palm upward. This is ideal if you’re inches away from your pet, otherwise try to grab your pet’s collar and gently push its rear into a sitting position.

Teach your dog to heel with your arms coming down in front of your dog with your palm extended forward. You can then command your pet to stay by slowly extending your arm and hand straight down with palm flat landing right next to your pet’s nose without contact. If your dog tries to sniff your hand, you can try to stop your dog in a gentle way. If you want your dog to lay down with its stomach on the floor and its feet in front, do this with your hand open flat, palm facing down and parallel to the floor, with arm bent at the elbow in a downward sweeping motion. Lastly, you can also teach your pet to come near you with your elbow bent and arms outstretched then move your arm to your chest.

It is advisable to combine verbal command with hand signals to enhance your pet’s knowledge about it. They will soon respond to either verbal or hand signal once they learn to relate your hand signal with the desired action. If that happens, it would be easy for the owner to command his or her pet in any way the pet understands. Bear in mind that if you want your pet to impress you then help them enjoy the dog obedience training by giving your pet a treat or some praise that will inspire him to do a good work. If your dog willfully disobeys you, physical punishment is a no-no as there are positive punishments available to increase your pet’s good behavior.

If your dog succeeds in doing these basic hand signals on dog obedience training then your pet is much ready for the advance one. You can try enrolling your pet to learn more of these, though you can also do this yourself for you to have a great bonding with your pet. Equip yourself with lots of information in training your dog by reading books, searching the web or seeking advice from experienced dog owners and trainers.

Click here to learn more dog obedience training secrets on how to train your dog that are easy, effective and achieve the same results in half the time.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Ricky_Lim

DOG OBEDIENCE TRAINING

Dog Obedience Training
By Dawn Lambie

Finally, the day has come. Your brand new puppy is old enough to come home and become a member of your family. Everyone is so excited! And she is so cute and cuddly and so fun to play with. Your puppy can do no wrong.

Until…What? There is garbage all over the floor for the hundredth time. Your brand new $50 shoes are in pieces all over the floor. The remote control mysteriously disappears. And, the final straw, after hearing her whining through the night, you step in dog poop.

FRUSTRATING! Your loving feeling you once had for your cute, adorable puppy turns into disgust and hate. The sad thing is, this can all be avoided. That puppy only wants to be loved. She just hasn’t been taught what she needs to know to be a welcome addition to the family. With a little bit of patience and a lot of love, you can train your puppy or dog how to live peacefully and happily in your home.

Your dog needs guidance and education. Training your dog challenges and stimulates his mind. You can start to train your dog as early as three to four months. There are many dog training books available to help you teach your dog the necessary commands. Dog behavior problems can be solved or avoided when using specific commands. It is very important to start in a quiet place, to avoid distractions.

Be sure your dog understands that you are the boss. He is to do what you tell him, not the other way around. A dog’s nature is to live in a pack. Within that pack is the Alpha-dog. You need to show him you are the Alpha-dog. One way to do this is to keep eye contact with him. Do not raise your voice. Screaming at your dog will not help him understand what you are saying. This will only scare him. With a slow, quiet voice give short, concise commands.

There are many commands and tricks to teach your dog. The most common commands are come, sit, stay, and heel. Many common tricks are shake, fetch, roll-over, and speak. Dogs are capable of learning multiples of commands and tricks. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, Chanda-Leah, born in Jan.1, 1994, weighing at only 7 and a half pounds performs 1064 tricks and loves it. This could be your dog. So have fun and enjoy the love of your dog.

PRAISE! PRAISE! PRAISE! A dog learns from pleasing or displeasing reactions. When teaching him a command, as in “sit”, let him know he has done a good job. He is more likely to repeat this command, if he feels he has done something to please you. Verbal and physical praises are an important process in training. There are many different ideas on whether you should give a dog treats for praise. Giving dogs treats in formal obedience training can be a positive reinforcement, just do not overdo it. And be sure your dog has performed the command you give him. If he starts to beg, jump on you, steal from your plate, or display bad behavior in connection with food, a dog should NEVER receive treats until the behavior is corrected.

DISCIPLINE as a training technique can be effective. The tone of your voice is important . Learn to say “no” without a whining, pleading tone. Go and get your dog. Never call a dog to you and then discipline it. Be sure to make eye contact. Never use an object to discipline. Be sure to discipline correctly and on a level your dog can understand.

It is essential to “make up” with your loyal dog. After you discipline your dog, you should remain passive for at least half an hour. Do not speak to the dog and avoid eye contact. Your dog should submit to you by either looking away or gazing down at the floor. If you go to your dog before it has time to readjust, he will shake and whine, which will make you feel guilty. Since dog owners have to be an active part involved in dog behavior training, they come to learn and discover the unexpressed sides of their pets. In a nut shell, dog behavior training is about having an obedient animal around the house while also getting more familiar with the needs and expectations of a close friend that doesn’t speak the same language. You should be ready to learn about what drives your dog’s behavior.

The drives or instincts that make your animal react in a certain way to specific stimuli are the main focus of dog behavior training. The explanation for low sociability may be rooted in the animal’s genes or in its close environment, once you get to manipulate these drives using dog behavior training, spectacular changes appear quickly. Specialist institutions and centers that provide help and assistance for dog behavior training have a scientific background of tests and studies about the nature and flexibility of the canine drives.

Probably the most significant part of dog training behavior lies in understanding the way you can encourage or discourage certain drives, and the skills of a trainer are best reflected here. The main instincts that are targeted by dog behavior training are: prey, play, pack, defense and food. The order is not relevant for their importance, since each plays an important part in the dog’s life determining the relationships with their masters and with other dogs. However, mention should be made that the domination of a certain instinct varies from one breed to another, and dog behavior training also tackles specific breeds in context.

Many people are surprised to learn that dog behavior training implies teaching the animal how to play. This special drive seems to be the one that is not inherent to the genetic structure of your pet. In order to learn how to jump and wrestle it is essential that the owners help the puppy acquire the skills, normally they would be the responsibility of the mother and the brothers as its true pack, but in their absence, you need to do it. The educational side is an essential part of dog behavior training, since it actually shapes the future relationship you develop with your pet in the future.

For the most effective, and popular, downloadable guide to dog behavior training I recommend you go and visit to our DOG BEHAVIOR TRAINING website.
