Broadway Joe Namath was already famous as the quarterback of the Alabama Crimson Tide under Bear Bryant (national champions in 1964) and continued in that role for the AFL New York Jets, beating the NFL Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl III (1969). Namath was the first professional football quarterback to pass for more than 4000 yards (1967).

It was a very disappointing day for Stanford Law School alums such as the LawPundit.

It appears that a Shaw is not a Harbaugh, as Stanford wound up losing in overtime 41-38 to Oklahoma State in spite of outgaining the offense-oriented Cowboys 590 to 412 yards. Whenever that happens, a loss by the dominant team is often the result poor field marshalling and playcalling.

The AP reports via Rivals.com that Terry Bowden returns to Division I with Akron.

With perhaps the exception of Carl Pelini taking over as head coach for the Florida Atlantic Owls (1-11 this regular season), Bowden will probably have more fun coaching next season than any other head coach in college football. After all, after two straight 1-11 seasons, the Zips can only get better, and every

Stanford and Oklahoma State Sports Supported by Rich Moguls: John Arrillaga for the Cardinal and T. This looks like a "new" Bruin head football coach who is on is way out before he even gets in, already pushing his weight around unduly and disrespecting the traditions of his new employer under the motto that "he" is there and all the rest does not matter.

Ohio State football has a fan base of over 3 million people -- top in the United States among all colleges and universities -- and it is a near $100 million per year business to boot.

What do you do if you are the NCAA and a few players and coaches at Ohio State commit NCAA rules violations involving a few thousand dollars?

Instead of punishing the guilty, you e.g. PUNISH those innocent 3

Thumbs Up Suh Returns: Vittorio Tafur at SFGate.com writes that Suh's thumb bigger than Janikowski's foot

Few of man's achievements honor nature as much as golf courses do, and it is always remarkable to see wayward environmentalists trying to replace golf courses with what is called "managed wilderness", i.e. pet projects of alleged nature do-gooders which serve virtually no useful purpose other than to inflate the self-serving moralistic egos of those same wayward environmentalists.
