Did you ever see the film "Super Size Me?"

You know, the one where the guy from New York (Morgan Spurlock) ate only McDonald's for 30 Days.

Well I want to share with you an exclusive behind the scenes interview with Morgan that will knock your socks off but I'll get to that in just a second…

I want to first explain why I'm sharing this.

There's a common issue that I keep noticing with people who are trying to create change or growth in their life.

And unfortunately I don't think it's talked about enough by many people out there…
even though it's the big elephant in the room.

Here's what I keep noticing...

People keep talking about how they want to achieve goals like making more money or improving their relationships but they just don't have the energy.

And they're missing a really key component that plays a huge role in their energy…

That's why I want to share an amazing fr*ee video with you that is an in depth and personal interview with Morgan Spurlock, the director of the film "Super Size Me"

http://www.rawfor30days.com/cmd.php?Clk=3974809

In case you don't remember, "Super Size Me" was the blockbuster movie that exposed the major health risks of eating a processed diet.

In fact right after the film was released McDonald's got rid of their whole "Super Size" concept.

It's part of an amazing fr*ee video series that also includes Dr. Joel Fuhrman, raw food expert David Wolfe and Mike Adams that is being released for a limited time only.

In case you didn't figure it out yet, the thing that people keep ignoring when it comes to their personal success is... their health.

And here's the thing… health tends to be the big elephant in the room that people ignore in their lives until it's too late.

They tend to think… "it's too difficult to be healthy and I'm too busy to worry about it."

But let me tell you that the information that Morgan shares in this video and that is shared in this entire fr*ee video series will make health about 20 times easier for you.

And it will make having unlimited energy and totally clarity of mind an everyday thing, not just a once in a while thing.

You'll see what I mean after you watch this video:

http://www.rawfor30days.com/cmd.php?Clk=3974809

The video series is being released by the makers of the film "Simply Raw: Reversing Diabetes in
30 Days," a film that was essentially the opposite of Morgan's film (eating good food for 30 days instead of bad food), and is getting amazing reviews.

If you're struggling with any health issues or if you'd just like to know how to drastically improve the level of health, energy and vitality that you have on a daily basis then I highly recommend you watch this video with Morgan and the entire video series being released.

In fact, I don't think there's a single person who couldn't benefit from watching these videos. They're just that important…

http://www.rawfor30days.com/cmd.php?Clk=3974809

Check out the video with Morgan Spurlock right away.

To your health,

Cynthia Zirkwitz

P.S. - I'd like for you to ask yourself an important question. What would your life be like if you had unlimited energy? What else could you achieve if you never got sick and were always full of energy?

Maybe it's time you find out…

http://www.rawfor30days.com/cmd.php?Clk=3974809
If you are interested in including it in a whole raw vegan meal you can just spiralize some 'raw noodles' from daicon, turnip or zucchini (examples only) and pour some raw tomato sauce over it. If you are going to do it heated vegan, you can add it to the top of steamed spaghetti sauce, brown rice or quinoa (with a tomato sauce). I personally would stirfry the mushrooms and cool them down before adding them to this recipe. (Many raw mushrooms contain trace amounts of toxins that break down when cooked--some people can eat them raw with no effects but why take a risk?)

You can find the recipe in written form at the Gianni's site <--click or just pick it up from the vid-- it's pretty easy. In the vid they talk about their mutual Italian heritages and how the raw vegan meatless meatballs contain herbs such as oregano, thyme, and the all-important Garlic that remind them of the meatballs of their childhood. Mmmmm yum! I suppose a similar raw vegan meatless meatball recipe could be substituted for Swedish meatballs using the seasonings that they use: minced onion, 1/4 tsp ground mustard seed, 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg, Celtic sea salt and ground black pepper to taste. If someone tries that, do you want to come back here with your recipe and results? That would be awesome!

Beet leaves were stripped and thrown into the garbage. Lettuce had bolted by early July and there was no great interest in salad-making, anyhow (salad dressing most often had a Mayo or "Miracle Whip" base).

<iframe src="http://rcm.amazon.com/e/cm?t=healthiacynth-20&o=1&p=8&l=bpl&asins=1552855244&fc1=000000&IS2=1&lt1=_blank&m=amazon&lc1=0000FF&bc1=000000&bg1=FFFFFF&f=ifr" style="align:left;padding-top:5px;width:131px;height:245px;padding-right:10px;"align="left" scrolling="no" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" frameborder="0">If I were to turn back the hands of time I would definitely "try" more salad-y fare throughout my early adulthood. The most favourite salad was, of course, potato salad with its few chips of raddish as the raw gesture. I recall that 3-Bean salad and later, "ambrosia" (canned fruit with marshmallows and heavy cream) were two other trendy "salads" along the way. The standard in 'green' salads was a couple of leaves of anemic iceberg lettuce (the crispiness passing for nutrition I guess), a wedge or two of tomato, and maybe a green onion, chopped, and a hard boiled egg, chopped, with aforementioned Mayo dressing.

And today I am mildly upset if my granddaughter doesn't eat salad with us? Obviously this is a deficit that is visited on down the generations.

I was going to start this review of tasty raw veggie paté recipes by stating that summer is the season for these winners... but then, thinking about it, when is a delectable savory paté not welcome on the neighborhood potluck table or the Christmas buffet or the in the school lunchkit or ... well, you get the picture.

Raw vegan patés are versatile: you can eat them in wraps (mmm), as a veggie dip (yum), and of course, spread on crackers.

Common to most raw vegan paté recipes on-line is a seed or nut base (if the recipe calls for tofu, it is not strictly raw vegan-- many raw foodies-- even regular veg-heads as well these days-- really stay away from soy products unless they've been fermented naturally, are organic and NOT GMO.) There are raw foodies who don't eat nuts and seeds and other fats, so I imagine they make their patés with fruits-- we're looking at recipes for savoury, nut or seed-based raw vegan patés here. Also common to most of the recipes (at least the ones listed here) is use of grated or blended whole-foods vs. ingredients that come out of jars or tubes or bottles, or whatever. A heavy-duty blender like Vitamix or Blendex is useful, but some of the recipes just call for an S-blade, the sort of blade found in a Cuisinart Food processor, for example. The word "paté" simply means "paste." The blender patés will tend to be a little smoother, more like dip-consistency, while the food processor paté will be classically chunkier. It's all good... with great organic whole food ingredients, these taste-tested recipes will be healthy and delicious no matter what tools you use to arrive at the finished product.

So, here are brief 'reviews' of seven on-line raw vegan paté recipes along with a link to get to the original recipe. If you want to post this on Twitter or Facebook, etc., please just click on those specific buttons at the base of the post. If you have specific questions or comments, please post them here and I will get back to you. Now on with the reviews! (Just click on the recipe name/bolded text to go to the recipe)
Raw Sunflower Paté This recipe by Bridget Mars is a classic-- raw, shelled sunflower seeds (I just use the leftover pulp from making my seed milk), squeezed lemon, garlic, ginger, tamari or sea salt, tahini, and onion. My suggestion is to make it exactly as it is written up the first time, and then make your improvs the next-time around (you WILL make it another time, believe me). I make small changes that appeal to me-- instead of tahini I just pour off some almond oil from the top of my jar of almond butter, thinking, hey, this is all in the nut/seed category. This is a pretty easy to do first-time recipe. Suggestion: chop or grind various ingredients before doing a quick process... eliminates some of the cloggy-up potential.

Raw Mock Tuna Salad/Paté Watch an excellent video recipe for this mock tuna recipe... easier than you think-- it looks and tastes like conventional tuna salad without any nice fish having to die for us. I was amazed by how adding some kelp to the recipe gave it that "fishy" taste. I have heard that it is not a good idea to buy kelp from China where sometimes fish and even dolphins are process with the sea vegetables.

Raw Basil Walnut Pesto Paté This is another video recipe. I learned something that I wish that I had known when I used basil-- add lemon right away to keep it from going brown (I also learned that if you add raw baby spinach it will be a brighter green). Interesting addition to this paté is the coconut butter that she spins up in advance with Bragg's bitters and extra virgin olive oil. She tops this basil walnut pate with ripe tomatoes on a bed of lettuce (yum). She also suggests dehydrating this paté as little burgers!

Raw Cilantro Brazil Nut Pesto Paté There are cilantro lovers and cilantro haters-- if you are a hater, then you might want to substitute regular parsley in this recipe. I love love love Cilantro myself...mmmm.... but I'm not a "taster", which you are if you hate cilantro. Anyhow, cilantro has some great chelating properties, as does Brazil nut (and garlic), so this is a particularly healthy paté that I like to take to potlucks because of its delicious flavour (well, for those, like me, who love cilantro).
It seems to me that they have arrived at a very gentle, sweet way of communicating the joys of healthy 'living' foods in a relationship. Our son has 'planted' wheatgrass outside in the sun and soil, and the idea of 'planting' other sprouts in soil makes a lot of sense to me. As handy as it is to work without soil to sprout seeds, the fact is that all sprouts have some mold in them, maybe because they long to be in soil where the whole organic process can be played out as it is in nature? And imagine having such an ongoing source of healthy organic greens for the cost of a few cents for the seeds and a little for the soil and containers? I would just like to add my 2 cents to the vlog: the water you pour off from the sprouts can be used to nourish your other house and deck plants!

Enjoy!

1 tsp. of Cardamon (I buy whole organic seeds and grind them in a coffee bean grinder as needed)

Tiny piece of red Beet if you have it (makes the dip pink)

Don't have a machete? Want to get the liquid from that white fuzzy (shaved young coconut) you bought at the grocery store? Go here to learn how to do it with a meat cleaver

Don't have a meat cleaver either? You will need a nice sharp knife, but here is a great demonstration on youtube

I grow a lot of different herbs. I love living on Vancouver Island where I can step out my front door in any season and snip up some fresh herbs, but I have a surplus of some and thus this recipe comes in handy. I use an old Excalibur dehydrator, but likely any dehydrator (or even low-temperature oven-drying, air-drying or sun-drying) would also work as well. After drying the herbs I just grind them up in my all-purpose coffee grinder (that is a total coffee bean virgin-- has only been used for herbs and chiaseed, flaxseed, etc.). You could also use a mortar and pestle or just put the dehydrated herbs between two pieces of wax paper and roll over with a rolling pin.

I have also messed around with the original proportions of stuff in the original recipe and you can do the same, depending on your tastes or resources (lol). I've added a lot more dried parsley because of its health benefits (and because I had a lot of it) and one and a half CUPS of onion powder was my base. All in all, it still smells like chicken-soup powder and when I put a teaspoon in a cup of hot water, it TASTES like chicken soup (I also added a small driplet of stevia to sweeten it a bit) and this is ORGANIC and without anti-caking agents and other stuff that comes in those mixes. It is a wonderful flavourful stock for any soup you are making, or, as I said above, can just be used in a cup of hot water as a pick-up. Below is my adaptation on the original recipe supplied by my cooking school friend, Wyona, which you can find here.

1 1/2 C. organic onion powder (next time I will dry organic shallots which are even more health-beneficent and flavorful)

1/3 C. Arrowroot powder (or any organic starch such as tapioca, potato or cornstarch)
*1/2 tsp. Celtic Sea Salt (or you can leave out the salt and add later or not at all)

*1/2 tsp. organic thyme powder

*1/2 tsp. organic garlic powder

*1/4 C. organic parsley powder or flakes

*1 T. dried organic Turmeric (for its yellow coloring and also amazing health benefits)

(please note that the original recipe includes dry bell pepper powder and marjoram-- I think these would be very good additions. I also believe that organic rosemary powder, nutritional yeast flakes and maybe a little cayenne would also be good additions... try what you like-- make it YOUR heirloom recipe lol). I store it like a precious item in a quart-size mason jar (I buy mine second hand at the Sally Anne store for 30 cents each) in my fridge. I mix everything together in the jar with a spoon and then put on the lid securely and shake everything around so that it is pretty evenly distributed throughout.

IRON MAIDEN TONIC

Handful of Parsley

4 carrots, greens removed

1 peeled garlic clove

2 stalks celery

My juicer will just catch the parsley and pull it through, but you may need to bunch it up and push it through the hopper with the other items. This is a great lunchtime juice if you are on a juice detox... or there are some of us who like fresh veggie juice for breakfast (pick me pick me)

CREAMY TOMATO SOUP

INGREDIENTS:

2 C. Water

1/2 C. soaked Nuts (suggestions: macadamia, pine nuts, raw cashews, even sunflower seeds)

6 big ripe red Tomatoes

8 Sun-dried Tomatoes, soaked overnight

1 stalk Celery

1/4 Red Onion

4 Tbsp. fresh-squeezed Lemon Juice

2 Tbsp. Dulse or Dulse Flakes

1/4 tsp. Cayenne

1/4 tsp. Cinnamon

20 fresh Basil Leaves

PROCESS:

Put all the above ingredients into the Vitamix or other blender and whirl up until smooth and delectably creamy. You can top with a swirl of Extra Virgin Olive Oil or Hempseed Oil (or in my son's case, hemp nuts). Yum! It tastes even yummier when it has spent some time mellowing in the fridge.

*recipe adapted from The Raw Food Challenge-- 7 Days to Improve Your Health, Detoxify Your Body and Lose Weight ©2010 by Kevin M. I'm thinking, dreaming, praying on Spring), we have been upping our consumption of fresh green salads. We don't actually have any true salad greens growing in our backyard yet but we do have lots of herbs popping out (oregano, thyme (lots), mint, chives, parsley, etc.) so we take advantage of other locally-produced greens (we have a sprout-factory(?) in our community--hurrah) and make up some delicious salad dressings.

Here are 2 great fresh dressings that will save you a pile of cash and give you a much healthier boost than the ones you buy in the supermarkets (did you ever notice that soy oil is an ingredient in all commercial salad dressings? At home you have the option of using extra virgin oils of all kinds, or just using water or juice and skipping the oils.) Try a different dressing every day and find out what yours/your family's favorites are. If you have a favorite that you invented, please send it to me and I'll include it here!

CUCUMBER DRESSING
1 large organic Cucumber
1 Tbsp. fresh lemon juice
Celtic Sea Salt (to taste)
1 entire green onion (top & bulb)
2 Tbsp. dried Onion Flakes* (see tip below)
1/2 C. organic Sunflower Seeds (soak or not)

Peel Cuke and blend all ingredients until smooth and creamy. You could use chives instead of (or as well as) the Green Onion, if they are growing in your yard (locavore!).
TIP: At harvest time you can dehydrate your own onions to make flakes (as well as other herbs, veggies and fruits, of course). This will give you the benefit of knowing what is in your dried seasonings (no MSG, for example, which is in everything, and very unhealthy!) Click here for how-to dehydrating information.

Pretty oil heavy, but delicious for people who are just starting out in the raw experience.
I have a feeling I will love 'fresh' coconut milk kefir, but I am a wimp in cracking open those buko (what they call 'young coconuts' in the Philippines)and really can't afford the cost yet... but someday! In the meantime, I am putting together a lovely almond milk yogurt and can hardly wait to try it! I am using my Excalibur dehydrator set at 90 degrees F. over 8 hours-- a sterilized mason jar with a 2-part lid on it. I made the almond milk in my Vitamix with soaked and husked almonds, about a quarter cup of chia seed gel (just add a few teaspoons of chia seed to a quarter cup of water and let it sit for 15 minutes, then stir) with added maple syrup and instead of the prescribed veggie yogurt starter, I just used about a tablespoon of some delightful goat yogurt I had in the fridge. (I AM going to purchase that yogurt starter though!) I just couldn't wait! (The chia seed gel will keep the 'milk' from separating out and boost the calcium content).

After I strained all the milk (using chlorine-free coffee filters) I ended up with this sweet, lovely ricotta-cheese like mixture. So, I added some fresh lemon juice, Celtic Sea Salt, and maple syrup (to taste) and mixed that up and put it in the fridge for future ricotta "cheez". It was an amazing by-product of the almond milk.

Here is another of the Renegade Health great videos about making Almond Yogurt... have fun on your healthy journey!
There is a cure for diabetes, and it's simpler than you think. It has a 90% - 95% success rate for type-2 diabetics, and it has even been successful with some type-1 diabetics (this is not a typo...)

Today we've published an audio interview with Dr. Gabriel Cousens who explains how diabetics are curing themselves of diabetes using a simple, natural approach. This is a must-listen interview for anyone suffering from diabetes or obesity:
The first time I heard of “raw water”, I must honestly say that the first thing that went to my mind is “Are you kidding me? Do they really think people are that stupid?”

In the video below, you’ll see me debunk claims made about raw water, a new product being promoted in the raw food movement.

Keep in mind that I’m not saying that their water is bad, or that there wasn’t any genuine effort put into this. I just think that it’s not worth the $6-10 a bottle they are asking for, and that the claims made to promote are downright wrong. What do you think? Let me know below and feel free to pass this video along to your friends.
In the "Raw Food Cleanse" book there was a reference to an on-line community of persons interested in longevity, particularly as related to a plant-based diet. The site where you can find this particular community is at Blue Zones. Dan Buettner, the author of the book "Blue Zones" and the originator of this site, was also the spearhead for the National Geographic's study of the world's longest-living communities. One example of such a community is the Adventists of Loma Linda, California, highlighted in the study as "America's longest-living culture".

"Blue Zones" has a lot of really good information about what you can do to live a longer, more satisfying life, and even a quiz that will give you an indicator of your 'body' age and a scientific guess at how old you will live to be. Check all this and more out at "Blue Zones".
At first I was quite skeptical: how could XXX be made to taste like YYY? Impossible! But the fact is, with a little ingenious use of herbs, spices and similar textures, there is not much that can not be replicated. AND the wonderful thing about the raw vegan "faux" food is that it will likely contain several times the enzymes and other nutrients that you would find in whatever your favourite "real" food is...

It is interesting to note that the 'recipes' that replicate "real" food are usually considered 'transitional foods' by leading raw foodists. They strive towards more and more purity and simplicity in the way they nurture themselves. But don't worry about suddenly being down to a diet of wheatgrass juice and acorns, or some such-- God has given us a wealth of fruits and vegetables from which to eat, some of the most luscious which we have not yet even tasted! Enjoy your adventure! Enjoy trying the recipe in the video below!
The people at the viewing, enjoyed the video and agreed that it might be interesting to pursue the idea of a meet-up in about a month where we could eat some raw vegan foods and enjoy each other's company and see if we wanted to go anywhere else with this as part of our Church's Health outreach to our community. I'm working on a date for a meet-up that suits everyone that was at the viewing today. Let's have it before the L-------s go away in less than a month....
Maria asked why "everybody at the Center" (i.e., the staff?) wear hats: Answer: I think it's some kind of fashion statement. If you go to raw foodie functions, many of the young guys wear toques, or if they are Hari Krishna followers, maybe a turban. I'm not sure why Gabriel Cousens, MD, sports a beret... but here is a blog that asks people how many berets they think he owns and what colors they like best.
