Jamika Ajalon is invited by Cyprien Rose, they spread their 1st création, an hybrid musical expérience, with électro fruits, analog spoken word, numeric nujazz, disco punk…

Jamika, american contemporary artist, & Cyprien know each others since few years. She, several time interviewed by He (he also invited her to perform a gig with one of her band for the Limoges short film festival), was interesed with the idea about working on a comon project !

Then, “The Reel Groupie” was born, a groupie like no other one, in an “all numeric” time, they get inspired by analog reel (& films), and artistic movements, you can hear this in their samples and machines.

Multi colored influences, cultural differencies & past, everything here gives a road to A “musical experience”, where each one is listening to the other, & tell with his style, a bit of their story !

The Reel Groupie is :

- Cyprien Rose (samples, effects, dj)

A danish artist has been temporarily banned from Facebook for a while because he took this famous paint from painter Gustave Courbet as a profile picture, and have thus violated the rules of the social network. !

Un artiste danois a été temporair ement exclu de Facebook pour avoir mis sur son profil le tableau L'Origine du monde de Gustave Courbet, et avoir de la sorte contrevenu au règlement du réseau social...

Because I used to have few nice pictures deleted by FB because of old fashionable rules, I liked a new picture, where the paitning is re-designed under a blue underwear, "logoized" as FB !! I used it as my profile picture, to be part of a protest about : "what is Art - what is Porn".

Puis, parceque j'ai moi même eu quelques photos supprimées par FB pour ne pas être conformes à leurs règles plutôt vieillottes et peu adaptées, j'ai aimé une nouvelle image qui re-designait l'oeuvre de Courbet, culottée et "logoisée" aux couleurs de Facebook, et je l'ai également utilisé comme photo de profil afin de prendre part au petit débat a propos de la façon dont on catégorise l'Art et le Porno.

But you must know that FB don't have a very big sense of humor, neither for Art & Politics... here is what I received after they deleted the picture !

Seulement FB n'a pas l'air de comprendre beaucoup en matière d'Art, de politique, et d'humour... Voici ce que j'ai reçu après qu'ils aient supprimé la photo culottée !

After great moments with CHEZ DAMIER, MY LOVE IS UNDERGROUND CREW, PHONIQUE, DAN GHENACIA..." mOna " goes to Detroit for the 1st 2011 thema. ALTON MILLER will join NICKV (resident dj), on this musical journey threw warm & sensual sounds.

Growing up in the 1970s, Miller soaked up the musical environment surrounding him in the Motor City, taking a particular interest in the sounds of Motown, Philadelphia, Parliament-Funkadelic, and Santana. It was during the early '80s once the "dance music crazed" Alton became friends with a young Derrick May that he decided to start spinning records, citing Chicago DJs such as Ron Hardy and Frankie Knuckles as prime influences. By the latter part of the same decade, Miller joined forces with George Baker and Chez Damier to start the Music Institute, a short-lived but legendary Detroit club that has since become near-mythical, thanks to the pioneering techno efforts of figures such as May. Following the demise of The Music Institute, Miller took an interest in Conga drumming in addition to DJing, which led to a period between 1989 and 1991 where he toured the world with his music. He then joined forces once again with May, first as an employee of the artist's Transmat Records label, then as Aphrodisiac, the title under which he would begin releasing his music. Besides his EP on Transmat's sublabel Fragile, he also released his music on Kevin Saunderson's KMS and a series of EPs on Serious Grooves. By the mid to late '90s, he had increased his presence in the Detroit area through a number of DJ performances and a stream of stunning twelves. His debut album for Distance has been highly acclaimed as all things house. His current Peacefrog album 'Stories Of Bohemia' is a powerful, moving collection of mature jazz tinged, soulful house grooves with flavours of African and roots music.

Running the nightclubs worlwide a true legend play for mona ! Alton Miller come back to Paris after a long long time... We are all very excited about this gig. See you there chicks !

I took my time to stamp images & sounds together, but the vidéo is finaly here.
Back in 2005, invited by Limoges Short Film Festival, I performed a "Potemkine" cinémix (last 30min).

Don't have any picture about the event, video shoot of the booth close to screen exists but quality is not really good. Preform was done at Espace Jules Noriac in Limoges / France.

I'll try to find out the full playlist & tech list from my archives, then will share later in coments !

Seldom an artist will have employed so well the expression to put herself has naked.

Window Seat is the 1st single of her very soon coming album : New Amerykah, Pt. 2 : Return of the Ankh out on Mar 30, 2010 ! And once again collaborating with artist Emek for artwork.

"I was afraid But I was ready" wrote Erykah Badu on her twitter page. She also admit : "I was petrified while shooting this video... but liberation began to set in. I conquered many fears in that few moments. i am greatful."

I'd like to say, Yes you can !

Another window seat video notes from Badu : "had intended to direct this vid alone. after working w/ coodie and chike and bouncing thoughts i asked them to join". Still on her page we can read "Window Seat vidéo was shot guerilla style, no crew, 1 take no closed set, no warning, 2 min , donwtown dallas, then ran like hell...".

The video is inspired from Lesson Learned by Matt & Kim.

Be sure sort of act is not "free & fun", Badu is not from that family. Voice gifted, the lady also now how to use her brain to express her Art. If we get emotion, and reflexion, watching this shot, we learn more on okayplayer specialy with LeeMarvin comment : "Knowing Erykah is from Dallas I didn't realize exactly where she was until she turned the corner and walked into the plaza... Dealey Plaza to be exact... She gets capped in the end of the video right next to the same spot where JFK got killed... The X on the road marks the spot of the fatal head shot.... Crazy how she worked that in... Amazing conceptual video" he continues with another side note "she pulled up in the '63 Lincoln Continental... another reference to JFK... its the same model as the one that he got shot in... which is now sitting in the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn just outside of Detroit.

The blue writting at end of video sais Groupthink. The artist asked her followers to find the best definition of groupthink, then we can read : "the unwritten rule that states; i will not express my true opinion if it opposes those i love and fear. i volunteer to censor me. or : "PRETENDING IN UNISON" !

Madame Badu ends it with telling us :

"They play it safe.
Are quick to assasinate what they do not understand.
They move in packs.
Injesting more and more fear with every act of hate on one another.
They feel most comfortable in groups.
Less guilt to swallow.

Common point between Ben Sharpa, R;zatz, et K-The-I ??? A human & artistic meeting in Jarring Effects studio during Riddim Collision 2009. From this experience several tracks came out where the artists cross each others. Today, everyone are on the road for the Vagina Rush Tour, and we are pleased to receive them @ La Fourmi on thursday 25 march.

I will close this event performing live a cine mix on : L'Inferno
29 January @ Bfm, Salle de conférence, 7:00 pm.

The Italian epic came of age with Giuseppe de Liguoro's imaginative silent version of the Inferno, loosely adapted from Dante and inspired by the illustrations of Gustav Doré. This silent movie was scored by Tangerine Dream years ago !
