If you are in a place where finances have got you down and holding you back from exercise, because maybe you cannot afford the gym membership, there are solutions for you. Yeah, we all know that you can go run on the street for free or perhaps workout with a friend, but I am talking about money saving exercise ideas that do not break the bank, but still give you the high level workout your body needs.&lt;p&gt; First, we can talk about that free stuff. Running, hiking, swimming (if you have a pool or lake), biking, these are all great activities that can give you a great cardio workout. So for now cardio workouts are a check. Very easy to accomplish and free, but what about muscle exercise.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; As you know a gym membership can be fairly expensive, that is unless you pay an arm and a leg up front in order to get your monthly membership rates down. Well there are better, and cheaper ways to get a good workout. The problem with a gym is that you are the only motivation for yourself. If you have a gym membership, ask yourself how many times you have used the membership in the last 2 weeks.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; I will ask the people in my office right now… I am working with 4 other people all of which have gym memberships. Dain has been to the gym 4 times in the last 2 weeks, Michelle has been to the gym 2 times in the last MONTH, Brianna has been 3 times in the last 2 weeks and Steve has been 4 times in the last 2 weeks. Get this NONE of them have been to the gym even 30% of the days that they pay for it. I, myself, do not have a gym membership, I use my money other ways and exercise in ways that are much more motivating and give myself a &quot;personal&quot; in home trainer to keep me going.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; I am talking about getting a home video workout program. Right now I am going through the Chalean Extreme workout. I have exercised 10 of the last 14 days, and that is because the program calls for 2 rest days a week. The best part about this is that the program did not even cost me as much as just the start up costs at a gym would cost. The workouts in this video are extreme effective and I am saving tons of money. There are some really great home workout videos you can use to get an amazing workout. One of the reasons a home video is so affective in getting you to workout everyday is because it is like you are a trainer guiding you through a whole fitness program. There is a clear start and a clear finish.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; If you do not have a gym membership right now try picking up one of many great home DVD workouts, they usually last 3 months or so, and they are extremely effective if you repeat them. This small tip could save you hundreds of dollars in gym membership fees. Headaches that occur monthly during the menstrual cycle are menstrual migraines.&lt;p&gt; Menstrual migraine is due to the increasing and decreasing levels of estrogen in the brain during this time. Women have up to five (!) estrogen receptor sites in the brain and with all of them busy binding and unbinding estrogen, well this creates one heck of a headache. Many female migraineurs say that this headache can be the worst headache they have ever had. Like other migraines the headache symptoms are pounding, throbbing pain, sensitivity to light and sound and nausea. Unlike other migraines the symptoms are all magnified to the point where the headache may be disabling. Not only is she nauseated, but vomiting may also occur.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; Menstrual migraine is now taken seriously by the medical profession unlike years ago when most women were told &quot;It&#39;s all in your head&quot;. No kidding. This type of migraine is now being studied with its own research and much is being learned, especially on how to manage these headaches.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; OK, now what? Well there are some new options on how to manage these migraines.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; 1. First of all, like all migraines, lifestyle plays a role. If you smoke, cut it in half immediately. Nicotine excites the brain and makes headaches worse. The same goes for caffeine. Cut out the power caffeine drinks, Starbucks and other caffeinated sodas.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; 2. Next step. Get on vitamin supplements targeted for migraine. All studies have shown, that vitamin B2 400mg, feverfew herb and magnesium 400mg can reduce your headaches. New information seems to point towards increasing the magnesium to 600mg or 800 mg during the menstrual week to blunt the headache.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; 3. Medications such as low dose anti-seizure drugs may help reduce the pain of the headache. You might have to be on the medication for a few months to get things under control, but generally this is not something you will have to take for the rest of your life. Again, new research points to increasing the dose slightly during the menstrual week to ease the headache and then reducing the regular level after the menses is over.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; 4. Hormones may treat migraines! Often times, if the OB/GYN is involved, a woman can go on one of the new 90 day cycling birth control pills. Having a period once every 90 days means a bad headache, but only every three months. Other women have tried low dose estrogen that is used for menopause, during the menstrual week. A slight increase in estrogen may ease the headache pain.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; 5. Using longer acting medications during the menstrual week might prevent the headache from coming back. One of the newer drugs for migraine, frovatriptan, has a long acting formula and can prevent the migraine from returning over and over during the menstrual week.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; Discuss your options with your medical provider, and don&#39;t give up. Here are a few simple steps to help get you in the best shape of your life.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; The truth is everyone wants six pack abs, but most people don&#39;t know how to get started. Here are a few things that we do in the military that will get you startedin the right direction.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; Bench Crunches&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; First, perform bench crunches to strengthen your upper abdominal muscles. Lie on the floor with your feet on a bench and your legs bent at a 90-degree angle. Place your hands next to your ears. Raise your head and shoulders until your body is at a 45-degree angle with the floor. Return to the starting position.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; Avoid pulling on your head during this exercise because you could strain your neck. Also, exhale when contracting and keep the pace of the movement slow in order to maintain proper form.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; Seated Leg Tucks&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; Seated leg tucks are great for developing the lower abs. Sit sideways on a bench and grasp the edges of the bench for support. With bent knees, raise your legs slightly, and then straighten them. Lean back when needed to ensure proper balance.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; Next, lift your knees toward your chest while keeping your lower legs pointed downward, and flex your abs as hard as you can. For better results, keep the tension in your abdominal muscles throughout the entire movement.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; Cable Crunches&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; The third movement will work your oblique muscles, which are on the sides of your body. Side-to-side rope crunches are great because the weight can be adjusted to each individual&#39;s strength level. Use a tricep pushdown cable and comfortably kneel facing the machine with both cables in your hands.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; The cables should now be on each side of you above your head. Alternatively crunch down the weight to each knee. The contraction should be controlled and performed slowly to maintain good form and maximize the work on the obliques.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; These are just a few of the many workouts we do in the Army to stay in great shape. Or, you can workout twice a day and get similar results.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; I remember when I was in high school playing football. I dreaded the start of the season because every season started with two-a-days. What are two-a-days?&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; Two-a-days are when you have practice twice in one day. And when it&#39;s 85+ degrees and you&#39;re in full gear...well...that sucks!&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; But no need to worry. For our purposes, we don&#39;t have to worry about football gear or heat. We just have to possess the drive to exercise twice a day.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; Here are some major benefits to think about:&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; * You&#39;ll burn twice the fat&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; * You&#39;ll blast your base metabolism into high gear&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; * You&#39;ll dramatically increase your strength&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; * You&#39;ll liberate yourself from stress more often&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; * You&#39;ll sleep like a baby&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; Here&#39;s how to start your two-a-day program:&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; 1. If you workout longer just modify the steps above to fit your schedule.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; Now, the trick to exercising twice a day is to get enough rest and nutrients. If you can get enough rest and nutrients for your body to heal itself you&#39;ll have no problem doing two-a-days.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; Just be careful NOT to over do it.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; If you do your body will go into what is called &quot;over-training&quot; and you&#39;ll actually tear down your muscle, not build it up.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; Some signs of over-training are:&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; * Lethargy (being overly tired)&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; * Constant dehydration&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; * Diarrhea&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; * Diminished endurance, power, and stamina&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; * Increased irritability&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; * Inability to concentrate&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; If you start to experience any of these cut back to one workout a day and see if the symptoms go away. If they do not go away, then seek medical care...there is something else wrong.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; If the symptoms go away after a day or two you now know how hard you can push yourself.
