I had never before read a cruise liner romance, by that I simply mean a romance set on a cruise ship, now I'm not sure if I had any expectations but I felt as somehow the book was hurried along or maybe the author was skipping all the tedious parts of traveling? I got all the main stuff, the pools, the dinners, the cabins but that all paled when the characters weren't quite right.

Firstly the supporting chaperon of our heroine was annoying, she was loud, brash and overly sexy- which made reserved Kara even more prudish, meek and timid. The men didn't fair much better either, I actually found Adam more interesting than Nate the hero of the romance. Why, you ask? He had more personality.

Now you might think I didn't like this book at all, which is not the case. I found the plot entertaining and the added suspense on Kara made this book very readable and helped a ton to make the cast likable and more interesting. But would I re-read this just for the story? No, there is plenty character development to be done. That said I'm interested in reading Debra Parmley's books in the future, I liked the fast pace of the novel and the story telling.

Book 15 - Rough Riders series

Bang bang bang. “Dalton! Come on man, open up. I know you’re in there.”

Dalton cracked one eyelid and cast a bleary eye at the alarm clock. Seven a.m. He yanked the quilt over his head and mumbled “fuck off” to Boden Hicks, the idiot beating on his door.

“McKay. I’m not fucking around. This is an emergency.”

That hauled Dalton’s ass out of bed. He unlatched the old-fashioned bolt and opened the door. “What’s the emergency?”

Boden hustled inside but a gust of snow followed before he slammed the heavy oak door shut. He stamped his feet. “Damn snowstorm came from out of nowhere.”

“You better not have tricked me out of bed to complain about the goddamned weather.”

Boden shuffled over to the woodstove to warm himself, but it’d been a good ten hours since Dalton had loaded it up. “It’s like a damn freezer in here.”

“That’s because I was sleeping. In my own bed, after roughing it on an elk hunt, remember?”

“Yeah, I remember. I’m just glad the hunting party made it out before this storm hit.” Boden unzipped his parka and pulled out Dalton’s cell phone, still attached to the wall charger. “Normally I could give a crap if you stay in bed a week after a hunt, but you left your phone charging at the lodge last night. The thing’s been buzzing like crazy. When I unplugged it, I noticed you’ve got twenty-seven missed calls. So it’s gotta be something important.”

Dalton’s stomach knotted. Since he had little to no cell service in the mountains, he forgot he even had a cell phone most of the time. Few people had his number—just his brothers, his mother, his cousin Sierra McKay, his accountant, his banker and his investment guys.

“Gimme that.” Dalton scrolled through the missed calls. Twelve from Brandt, twelve from Tell, three from Sierra.

Had to be bad news if his family had reached out to him.

The family he hadn’t seen in three years.

“What’s going on?”

He glanced up at Boden. “No clue. I haven’t bothered to set up my voice mail on this phone so I’ll have to call to find out.”

Boden sighed. “Speaking of…I wanted to make sure your two-way is charged. Since you have an issue with technology that allows people to get in touch with you.”

“It’s charged. I laid in a store of food before the huntin’ trip so I can ride out the storm.”

“Good. We’re supposed to get a foot of snow today and maybe more tonight.” Boden crouched in front of the woodstove and chucked kindling in the cold embers before setting the torch to the pile. “Might be a couple days before you can get out, if you need to go home.”

Home. It didn’t have the same connotation it once did. When it was all he’d known. “I’ll let you know what’s goin’ on as soon as I know.”

Boden piled several small logs in the black box before he stood. “You worried?”

Dalton shrugged.

But Boden didn’t buy his act; he never had, which was why they’d become such good friends. “You want me to stick around?”

“Nah. I’ll put on a pot of coffee before I call my brother.” He smirked. “Get on back to the lodge. Bree would jam my nuts in a vise if you got snowed in with me instead of with her.”

“Your nuts ain’t ever gonna be anywhere near my wife’s hands, McKay.”

He laughed. “I know your kink doesn’t extend to sharing.”

“Damn straight.” Boden zipped up his parka and slipped on his gloves. “You need anything, buzz us. If we don’t answer right away—”

“I’ll assume you’re tied up. Or rather, you’re tying Bree up.”

As soon as Boden left, Dalton started coffee. Then he stripped off his long johns and took a cold shower. That ensured he’d be fully awake.

The main room of the three-room cabin had warmed up by the time he’d dressed. After downing two cups of coffee, Dalton stood by the window in the kitchen and called Brandt.

His oldest brother answered on the fourth ring. “’Bout damn time, Dalton. Where the hell have you been that you can’t return a phone call?”

No doubt Brandt thought he was fucking off someplace. Little did he know how tiring it was leading a ten-day hunting party into the mountains. But Dalton no longer explained his life choices to anyone. “What’s goin’ on? I had twenty-four missed calls in the last twelve hours.” No one knew Sierra had his number. His brothers would be pissed if they knew Dalton kept in better contact with Sierra than with them.

“Dad had a stroke.”

Silence. Finally Dalton asked, “Is he okay?”

“He’s alive, if that’s what you mean. He’s havin’ difficulties talkin’. They’re not sure if it’s permanent. They’re not too sure of anything at this point. So we—me’n Tell—are asking you to come home.”

Dalton closed his eyes. He didn’t want to play nursemaid to the man who’d made his life hell. Especially not after the last conversation they’d had, which was the biggest reason Dalton had left Sundance for good—not that he’d told his brothers or anyone else about what’d gone down. “I don’t know if I can.”

“Can’t? Or won’t?” Brandt demanded.

“Why do you want me there?”

“Hey, bro. Brandt put you on speaker phone,” Tell said. “Look, we need you to help us make some decisions about Dad’s care.”

Dalton let his forehead rest against the frosted windowpane.

“We haven’t seen you in over three years. It sucks that something like this had to happen for you to even consider comin’ home. But we do need you here.”

He pictured his brothers, Tell leaning against the window in the cab of Brandt’s truck, his restless fingers tapping on his leg. Brandt seated behind the steering wheel, his posture stiff, arms crossed over his chest.

“When did this happen?” Dalton asked.

“Brandt got a call from the hospital in Spearfish yesterday morning. They wouldn’t let us see him until late afternoon. Soon as we had some information, we tried calling you.” Tell paused. “You ain’t gotten any better at returning calls.”

“But I did return it. Not fast enough for you?” he asked sharply. Jesus. Within two minutes of talking to his brothers he’d reverted to the defensive guy he’d left behind. He exhaled slowly. “Sorry. Cell service here is spotty.”

“Where are you?”

Don’t feel guilty they don’t know. “Alder, Montana. We’re in the midst of a blizzard so it might be a couple days before I can make it out of the mountains.”

Silence.

“Has the doctor given you a time frame on how long he’ll be in the hospital?”

“No,” Brandt said. “But when Dad is discharged, it’ll be to the rehab wing in a nursing home.”

That oughta make Casper even more the patient from hell. “Sounds like it won’t matter then if I’m not there for a couple of days. I’ll let you know when I’m on my way.”

“Sure. Will you be staying with one of us?” Tell asked.

“Nah. I’ve got it covered. Thanks though.”

Neither of his brothers asked where he’d be bunking down, although he sensed they wanted to.

“Okay, then. I guess we’ll see you when we see you.”

“Yep. Later.” Dalton hung up.

He stared out the window for the longest time, even though he couldn’t see shit through the swirling snow.

But this storm wasn’t anything compared to the one he faced in Sundance.

The blizzard lasted two days. On the morning of the third day Dalton packed up his stuff, closed up his cabin and headed down the mountain.

Once he had a clear cell signal, he gave Brandt a heads up he was on his way. Brandt said they’d moved Casper to the rehab wing and to meet them there.

Then he placed a call to Sierra.

She answered with, “I swear every time I call you and I don’t hear back I live in mortal fear that you’ve disconnected from the world completely and you’re out in the forest running naked with woodchucks and shit.”

“Not hardly. I returned the calls in order of importance.”

“So you’ve talked to your brothers?”

“Yeah. I’m on my way to Wyoming right now.”

“They giving you grief about…well, everything?”

“They both knew it wouldn’t take much for me to refuse to come back.” He flipped on the defroster. “How’d you find out about Casper’s stroke?”

“Keely. I knew your brothers would get a hold of you first, so my call isn’t about your father.”

“Then why did you call?” Dalton heard her take a deep breath and he went on full alert.

In a rush, Sierra said, “You’ve got to promise me that you won’t get mad at me for what I’m about to tell you.”

“No conversation ever ends well that starts that way.”

“True, but I want you to remember I was only following your parameters. And I kinda hoped someone else would tell you about this, so I didn’t have to. But then, you’d have to actually talk to someone who lives there, and we both know that’s a rarity, so I guess it falls to me.”

“You been drinkin’? ’Cause you ain’t making a lick of sense. Quit dancing around the subject, college girl, and spill it.”

“Rory is back in Sundance and working for Wyoming Natural Resource Council.”

Everything switched into slow motion. Dalton couldn’t breathe. Couldn’t think. He had to pull onto the shoulder so he didn’t wreck his truck.

“Dalton?”

“You said Rory is livin’ in Sundance.”

“Yes.”

“With her fiancé?”

“No. She, ah, broke off the engagement.”

“When?”

“Six months ago.”

This was not happening. Sierra had not kept this information from him about Rory for half a goddamned year.

“Dalton. I know your head is about to explode—”

“Jesus, Sierra, do you fucking think? Why are you just telling me this now?” he roared. “Do you have any fucking idea—”

“That you’ve been holed up in the middle of freakin’ nowhere moping because Rory got engaged to someone else? Why yes, I was completely aware of that little factoid, cuz.”

Silence.

“Besides, you were doing your lumberjack gig and completely off the grid when Rory ended the engagement. I’ll remind you of your zero tolerance policy—me not talking about Rory or sharing information about Rory’s life was your edict, Dalton. I was just following your parameters. And now the parameters have changed.”

“Seriously not fucking amused. Will you just get to the point?”

“I really have to point out that you and Rory will actually be in the same place for the first time in over three years?”

“Three years? Try ten years since she’s lived there. I’da been in Sundance six months ago if I’d known she was there without some other asshole’s ring on her finger,” he snarled.

“Whoa. Take a step back, wolverine. I’m telling you now because maybe you’re smart enough to handle it the right way this time.”

“This time?” Dalton repeated sharply. “Don’t make this out to be my fault. I offered her—”

“Don’t snap at me or interrupt me again or I will hang up, understand?”

“Yeah, yeah, keep talkin’.”

“Rory is my sister. You’re my business partner and one of the few people I trust. I hate that I’m pulled between you two. It’s time you manned up, Dalton. And don’t remind me that you did that once three years ago after you walked out on your own wedding. Even you can admit it was piss poor timing on your part.”

“But that bad timing didn’t stop her from giving me an edict, did it?”

“Like I’ve told you ten thousand times, that wasn’t an edict. Two years was a time line for Rory to finish grad school and a frame of reference for you to understand how important that was to her. You shouldn’t have taken it as gospel.”

“Then she shouldn’t have given me false hope.”

“Then you shouldn’t have turned tail and run again,” Sierra retorted. “Especially after you gave her false hope that things might finally change between you two.”

Like he needed that reminder. “Does she know about Casper?”

“Doubtful. She’s been out of town and she stays out of McKay gossip completely.”

Then Rory wouldn’t suspect Dalton was on his way back to Sundance. The element of surprise might work in his favor. “What’s the best way to approach her?”

“She bartends at the Twin Pines on the side. She’s working tonight. Anything else I can do for you besides making your day with this news?” Sierra asked sweetly.

Making his day? Hell, she’d made his life, because now he had a shot at getting the life he wanted. “Where are the keys for the house in town?”

A pause. Then, “Why?”

“I need a place to stay.”

Sierra heaved a put-upon sigh. “They’re under the back deck on a key hook. But there are two conditions before I’ll let you stay there. First, you don’t tell anyone I own it. No one.”

“Deal. And FYI, that’s why we have a silent partnership.” He’d supplied Sierra with some capital to start her own business last year and he also wanted it kept on the down low. “What’s the second condition?”

“I need a handyman to do some things. Okay, a lot of things. You’re handy, you’re there and voila—you’re selected. I’ll FedEx my repair list today but anything else you see that needs fixed just go ahead.”

“I’ll do it but I want to be reimbursed once a week for whatever I buy. You don’t get to pull that sixty day wait for payment bull crap like you money people usually do.”

She laughed. “That’s how we become money people. We hold on to money as long as possible. Be warned, some of what needs done will be major costs.”

“I ain’t a carpet installer,” he warned. “Nor will I put in windows.”

Sierra sighed again. “You are a handy handyman, right?”

“Guess you’ll have to trust me, huh?”

“I’ll be keeping tabs on you.” Another pause. “I’m sorry about your dad. If you need to talk about anything—except for Rory—call me.”

By the time Dalton crossed into Crook County hours later, he had a plan in place.

Patience. Perseverance. He would not blow this chance.

Rory Wetzler was his. His. She always had been, she always would be.

And he’d do whatever it took to prove it.

The last McKay standing is knocked to his knees…

Great contemporary romance! You get bit of excitement, bit of suspense, great characters and a whole lot of delish romance! The plot of slightly chubby Andie coming to a small town to forget about her cheating city ex, catching the eye of ten years her junior country Travis is so yummy it can hardly get better, but it does because playboy rep Travis wants her and isn't afraid to remind her despite her excuses of age, work and chubbiness, because it turns out Travis likes his women voluptuous!

Andie I loved, you know me, I love a plus size heroine! Especially one with courage, guts, attitude and a shotgun she knows how to use! Plus her age dilemma with 25 year old hunky guy was quite adorable. Travis was the epitome of small town playboy with family issues a mile wide, great set of shoulders and an ass made for fitted jeans. He was also very protective about Andie which is always such a turn on! Easy on the eyes isn't a bad thing either. ;)

These two fit, the chemistry is believable, tangible and incredibly hot, Shelly Munro knows how to write both expectations and really hot sex! That's not all she can write, the characters are in depth, the story flow perfect and realistic, and sugar at the bottom she knows how to write a plot that keeps you glued to your book!

We can agree beauty comes in all shapes and sizes. We say that all the time when talking about other people but I'm thinking we tend to not be as kind when judging ourselves. And glossy magazines sure can highlight some of our insecurities. When it came time to write Just What He Wanted, the 4th book in my Holloway series for Carina Press, I wanted to explore this idea with my heroine.

I knew my "he understands women and has no trouble finding dates, thank you" hero, Travis, needed a bit of a shock. Because he's a hard-working, down-to-Earth, good-looking country boy, women are attracted to him. Let's just say he doesn't have to work very hard to find dates. Naturally, his perfect heroine couldn't be an easy catch. I didn't want her to be model-perfect and somehow unattainable. I wanted one of the major roadblocks to their relationship to be what was happening in her head.

A few things inspired Andie. The main one was this commercial from years ago. I don’t think it's been on for years, so I'm about to date myself…ready? I can't remember what it was for, something weight loss related I'm guessing, but a woman is swimming laps in a pool and the voiceover says some version of "the voice in our heads that is so hard on our bodies." Basically, the point was that we can be our worst critics. Combine that with a photo I saw on Pinterest of this beautiful woman (here: http://pinterest.com/pin/3940718395628055/) and my inspiration for Andie was born.

Now, Travis sees Andie and his brain misfires. That's the point. He sees her without her insecurities getting in his way. Here she is thinking she isn't young enough ( she's almost 10 years older ) or pretty enough ( she just lost a lot of weight and is about a size 12 or 14 but still sees herself at the old weight ) and he's thinking:

"No, thinking about the blonde with the all-woman, all-smoking curvy figure did him in. The big brown eyes, the long, wavy hair…how she knew her way around a gun — one of those, maybe all of them, had his mind sputtering and his words stumbling. Another hour with the steering wheel pressing against his erection while a vivid movie of him stripping that snug T-shirt off her body rolled through his head and he would have needed surgery."

His friends and new business partners, both married, have this discussion about her when trying to figure out why the usually cool Travis seems so messed up for Andie:

“Wait a second.” Mitch held up a hand and stared at Spence. “I haven’t met her yet. What does she look like?”

Spence whistled. “Whoa and damn.”

“Nice,” Mitch said.

“Well, if you like the voluptuous type.”

Mitch shrugged. “Who doesn't?”

Men, sometimes they get it right. When they talk like this, we should listen.

And, in case you’re wondering? In my head Travis pretty much looks like Jensen Ackles (this: http://pinterest.com/pin/3940718394302561/).

“There’s something between us...” She gulped in a huge breath. “Did I already use the word weird?”

He bit down on her earlobe and felt the shiver run through her. “I suggest a test.”

“You keep jumping around on topics.” Her hand brushed along his chin.

“Just trying to avoid a conversation where you ‘friend’ me.” God, he felt it coming. He could almost hear it in her tone and see it in her eyes. Even with her hands roaming, she tried to block him. A clear sign that her head and body wanted two very different things from him.

“Back to the test.” He’d been dying to do this since that first morning.

She brushed the back of her hand down his cheek. “You going to see how much wood you can chop in a minute?”

He bit back the dirty thought that came into his head and went with the G-rated version. “I've never really heard it called that before.”

“I don’t know—” Her voice hiccupped when his mouth found the pulse thumping in her neck. “This is exactly what I was talking about. This doesn't make sense. I didn't move here for this.”

“Understood.” He mumbled the word against her soft skin. Inhaling, he drew her sweet scent into his head.

Fingers slipped into his hair. “I didn't plan on meeting someone like you.”

“Feeling is mutual.” He didn't even know what he was saying. All he wanted was to fuse his lips with hers, to lure her in and have her as crazy for him as he was for her.

Sometimes you know from the very beginning that you're going to love a book, and Rogue Rider started so great I was pumped to read every single bit of this book! Here you have a look too of Seph naked in the woods:

It was cold. So fucking cold.

He opened his eyes, but he saw…nothing. Groaning, he shifted, because he seemed to be face-down. Yeah…he was doing a face-plant, all right. But where was he? All he could see was snow. No, that wasn't true; he could see trees laden with snow. And snow banks laden with snow. And snow laden with more fucking snow.

So he was in a forest…with snow. But where? Why?

And who the hell was he?

Reseph.

The name slurred through his ears as if uttered by a drunk man.

Reseph.

Sounded vaguely familiar, he supposed. Reseph. Okay, he could work with that. Especially since no other names popped into his head.

Weakly, he tried to push himself to his knees, but his arms wobbled like rubber, and he kept falling on his face. After four tries, he gave up and just lay there, panting and shivering.

Somewhere overhead, an owl hooted, and a few minutes later, a wolf howled into the growing darkness. Reseph took comfort in the sounds, because they meant he wasn't alone. Sure, the owl might fly over and shit on him, and the wolf might eat him alive, but at least he’d have company for a little while.

He didn't know much about himself, but he knew he didn't like to be alone.

He also did not like snow.

Curious then, how he’d ended up alone in the snow. Had someone abandoned him here? A tremor of anxiety shook his insides as hard as the cold was shaking him on the outside. Surely someone was looking for him.

He held onto that hope as he gradually became aware of a gnawing ache in his bones, accompanied by a stabbing pain in his head. Looked like he was in for a little unconsciousness. Cool. Because right now, he was both freezing and burning up, hurting and numb. It sucked.

Yep, passing out would be a good thing.

Real. Fucking. Good.

Are you as giddy as I was to sink my teeth into more!? Not to mention... oh,ahem, better not go there... * clears throat * So, as mentioned above I was psyched to read all of this! I hadn't read the first three books in the series but that didn't deter me in any way, it was so good! And I think the amnesia plot helped as well. Both me and Seph were clueless of what was going on in the world and with him and his evil demon side.

Oh boy, Seph was bit of a sensory overload to put it mildly! Usually blond guys don't do it for me but... man, Seph sure did! Tall, sexy, predatory, suggestive, muscled, hot, handsome, playboy stud muffin of a half-demon... I'm running out of sexy synonyms with this one! Let's face it ladies we like a bad boy, and reformed super bad boy...? Hell yeah! Sure there is mega load of package with the dude but he sure makes it up in bed. Okay so by now you know I'm totally crushing on Reseph... I won't try to hide it, just never mind the cardboard cut-out in my closet. What was that? What closet?

The romance with Jillian and Reseph had the sweetness of a new start, redemption and peace for Seph who's demon had been causing near Apocalyptic destruction before his memory wipe. But to balance that out it was incredibly hot and sexy the way these two had chemistry! Also Jillian was an absolutely joy to read, smart, confident and putting breaks on Seph's advances. Very entertaining!

I always find it hard to review my absolutely favorites as I just wanna gush how great it was, how hot the guy, how sassy the girl and how hot the romance! Rogue Rider got all of that and more. Enough of me loving this book and more of me moving my ass to find the previous three books!

Niina : My pleasure, now let’s get started! Can you tell my readers here 5 fun unknown facts about you so we can break the ice?

Tabitha : It's not generally known that I'm a Linux geek, a crocheter, a gamer, a dulcimer player and that my best friend is 20 years younger than I am.

Niina : Tell us little about your "The Misadventures of Alex T’Kayn", what’s it about?

Tabitha : Alexandra T'Kayn is a galactic treasure hunter and this book is a compilation of two of her earliest adventures. She ends up running into some of the sexiest villains of her life as well as just as sexy heroes. She gets in quite a bit of trouble but has quite a bit of fun along the way.

Niina : Exactly like I would have put it too. ;) What kinda of woman does it take to write erotica and erotic romance?

Tabitha : I think it takes someone who is willing to think about sex with an open mind, a person who is willing to learn and put that knowledge to work. It helps to have a partner who is open and supportive.

Niina : What would you say is your most interesting writing quirk?

Tabitha : I really have trouble writing when the TV is on. I don't know how interesting that is, but that's a weird quirk in my family.

Niina : How did your cover come about, or what’s your opinion of it?

Tabitha : This cover is a second edition cover, which was designed and created by me. Amongst my other interests, I am a digital artist and work in media like Daz Studio and Photoshop. This one is a bit more 'hunky beefcake' than the first one, which was more 50's Pulp Sci-Fi. Since I am my cover artist, I have to work within the guidelines of my publisher for the line the book is being published in, so she requested I do a new cover in this style. While I like it, I do prefer my original cover(!)

Niina : What does it take to write a really hot love scene?

Tabitha : For me, I need to be alone to think. Music sometimes, silence sometimes. It depends really on how I am feeling. If I need to focus or if I'm 'in the zone' where it flows much easier, like most of my writing.

Niina : What makes a hero sexy?

Tabitha : At least a bit of a Villainous nature. I really don't find the 'good guys' sexy.

Niina : Yes, definitely needs to have bad boy in them. ;) Now to more personal questions! What’s the sexiest article of clothing on a guy?

Tabitha : A waistcoat (vest). I can't tell you why though!

Niina : Oh, tease! ;) Sexiest movie star crush?

Tabitha : Believe it or not, I've never had crushes on any movie stars. I've had crushes on characters though.

Niina : What about, what is your favorite guilty treat/pleasure?

Tabitha : Cookies!

Niina : Yum! Would you rather meet real vampires or werewolves?

Tabitha : Vampires (unless they sparkle... real vampires don't sparkle).

Alright, I wasn't very fond of the writing, all the basics were there, the story telling, the action, the red hot sex but the fine tuning was missing. I needed more subtlety, quiet moments where we got bang-bang-bang of all sorts. The author stated Star Wars movie as inspiration and it read like a movie in the sense that it was one action scene after another. Which, hey, isn't always a bad thing!

Like I mentioned the sex was sizzling hot especially with the somewhat sinister antics of some darker characters. As erotica this was excellent! I especially loved the seduction voodoo going on with a vampiric baddies and Alex's race, made for a a really hot sex-drug plot twist!

I have a always loved a spunky heroine that's not dumb-brave, you know where they head over to trouble against all common sense - I was very happy with the spunkiness/braveness ratio of Alex, I always do root for a strong heroine with smarts added on top!

This said I think sci-fi action readers will love this it's real fast pace and also sheets scorching hot! No big romance plot, but a lot creative, very detail, bedroom antics and a whole lot of action!

Catchy name right? Okay so the little I've come to glimpse at BDSM world through some Erotic Romances there are submissives, with safewords and all the kinky stuff, and then there are slaves who are ultimate submissives without any of their own "control". Some will correct me on this I am sure, but it's sort of the gist of it. Okay, so I expected Erotic Romance, and what I got was not what I expected.

The main character of Kimberly was annoying, seemingly unintelligent and one of those women who do stupid things just to act tough. I really, really, don't like that. Seriously she came of so brat-like it was always nice when the POV shifted to Sebastian or Wyatt. Not that those two were charming either, too bossy or trying to be and not often wording the most brainiest things but just fucking the sub when she acted like brat and they wanted to punish her and then felt some what conflicted about her... What can we conclude of this?

This book didn't really have Romance, it was a heavy BDSM sub-culture pamphlet, sure some of the sex was hot and the book really wasn't that long - but it doesn't take long to get me annoyed when the Romance isn't the leading character or even the main theme. When it's all about the BDSM and how a submissive is suppose to act, well... I read Romance. And I really do not mind a little bit of bdsm stuff here and there in the story, but it's all about the Romance for me. The blurb promises it, the book does not deliver it - hence the review.

And it's not really Cowboy Sex if he's only mentioned having a stetson once, I wanted cowboys and got billionaires. False advertising.

If you love quirky Tim Burton movies then you'll love Fancy Free! The story of a shy woman inheriting a condom company, Fancy Free, and deciding she needs to know more about the product this odd bird chooses the factory manager as her way of doing it. This book is funny, odd, hilarious and occasionally you wanna cringe at the things that the heroine spouts out.

Despite it Alice is a joy to read for all the oddness included and she has nice growth arc as a character, while still remaining peculiar. The romance was in the guaranteed Ellora's Cave fashion hot, oh so hot! There is something about virginal quiet girls that bag and bang a stud muffin that just delights me! Especially when the aforementioned stud muffin has it bad for her and is creative in showing aforementioned virginal quiet girl just how many ways there are to use a condom!

I usually start with telling you a little about what the story is and how this book was written but I just have to start with Hopper! Tattooed, muscled, tall, leather jacket, wristbands, MC, rings, all in on bad ass lethal package that will have you unable to concentrate, add in the creative sex, and man, a girl is hooked! I sure am! I feel so alone now that there is no more Hopper and Lanie!

Kristen Ashley's portrayal of Chaos Motorcycle Club and it's seriously hot guys is dripping sexy and authentic - and most importantly it's a potent cocktail of those two, Ashley has created the perfect gritty erotic romance with sexy bad boy bikers and women who you wouldn't associate with riders.

I loved the fact that Lanie was all sophisticated and glamours and still needing exactly what Hopper was able to give her which was all kinds of hot, nasty, bar none sex, and surprisingly sweet and caring gestured that had her more confused than ever of her plan of one-night-stand morphing to just sex, to I'm completely addicted... don't feel bad Lanie, so are we. I loved the fact that Lanie didn't want a relationship and was, really, pretty messed up after getting shot in the previous book due to her jerk (now-dead) ex-fiancee. Her battle to not be with Hop and not grave him, was quite amusing!

  This excerpt follows Lanie's hot night with Hop who stated he was going to get her into a relationship even with her many no-ways. She's escaped Hop to her fancy office, to which Hop has just broken into with some Chinese food.

"I didn't want to be seen," he informed me.
  I went back to staring at him, forgetting about the rest of what we needed to go over.
  He went back to the food. Placing my container in front of my chair, he took his, sat in one of my sleek white leather chairs, shifted low, leaned back and lifted his motorcycle boots on my desk, ankles crossed.
  He then commenced eating.
  At this point I remembered what we needed to go over, prioritizing quickly and announced, "I'm not eating dinner with you."
  "It's imperial," he replied.
  Damn.
  Imperial kung po shrimp was the best and I was hungry. I'd had a big lunch, but that was five hours ago.
  And anyway, what would he do with that food if I didn't eat? Would it go to waste?

How Romantic Suspense

is Making A Comeback

There've been a lot of romance books recently that have a subgenre of mystery/suspense. I think it's because the combination is so enticing. Who doesn't love a good mystery? Who doesn't love a good romance? Put the two together and...wow!! It's like combining peanut butter and chocolate...who would have thought? Or in my case...vodka, tripple sec, and cranberry juice...a cosmo! Who would have thought? Delicious--- like reading a romantic suspense.

  I like the two genres because they add another layer to the romantic plot. The mixture usually adds a faster pace to the story. Frequently, you can't wait to get to the next page in order to find out what happens. It transcends the story to not just be about the hero and heroine, but about some mystery that has brought the two together. It also demonstrates how they interact with each other under the most adverse circumstances, how they come to depend on and trust each other. How they use logic, brains and often brawn to overcome certain obstacles.

  This combination also gives the writer a chance to depict the heroine as a strong, smart, capable individual. The heroine can be as physically strong as the story needs her to be or be just as demure. Combining these two genres gives the author more diversity. The hero is not necessarily always the 'hero'. In fact, in Strictly Business although Wade, my hero, has appointed himself Nina’s protector, she defies him at every turn. She’s a strong willed, intelligent woman who uses her analytical reasoning and the passion for her career to help Wade figure out the mystery of the story. That is what ultimately brings them together.

  I've always liked the heightened tension of a good suspense story and combining that with a hot steamy combustible couple is just icing on the cake!

Niina : Let’s get started! Can you tell my readers here 5 fun unknown facts about you so we can break the ice?

Angela : I am a huge comic book geek. I actually got my start in comics.

In fact, JANE'S WARLORD was heavily influenced by my first comic, CYCOPS, which was the story of people with computer implants in their brains.

CYCOPS was published in 1988, before home computers were common.

MASTER OF WOLVES and MASTER OF THE MOON were born in 2002 when as a newspaper reporter, I interviewed a cop who was a drug dog handler. As I was talking to the man, I thought, "What if the dog was a werewolf?

The hero of MASTER OF FIRE is based on my husband's best friend, who is a forensic chemist, arson investigator, and bomb tech, as well as a cop. He let me follow him around for a week learning about how to do drug testing, arson investigation, and bomb disposal. He also helped me figure out how my villains would have created the nasty bombs they used.

Niina : I'm bit of comic geeks myself. ;) Also getting to follow a cop around for a week, must have a been a blast! Alright calming down... Tell us little about your books, what kind of stories do you write?

Angela : I write paranormal erotic romance, including the MAGEVERSE series, in which King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table are immortal vampires still alive today, and are working to keep humanity from committing mass suicide. Then there's the THE TIME HUNTERS, a trilogy in which cops from the future work to protect people from time traveling criminals. TIME HUNTERS ended with the publication of the final book, ENFORCER, as part of an anthology called UNBOUND. I had planned to end the Mageverse too, but I've changed my mind. I intend to go on putting out a series of one shot novels. The next one will be out next April; it's the story of Gwen and Arthur, and how he became a vampire and she became a witch. It will be in a book called WICKED GAMES, which will be three very erotic BDSM stories, all of them by me.

Niina : Sounds so drool worthy, and the ones I've read have been! You know how to write them hot girl! What made you want to write Romance though?

Angela : I write romance because I have always read it. I just love watching two people struggle to find their happily ever after, despite whatever stands in their way--including each other.

Niina : And that is why I love to read them too. What does it take to write a really hot love scene?

Angela : I like to listen to music, but I also have a lot of research books-- with PICTURES! ;p

Niina : LOL! Pictures of hotties are always helpful. ;) What makes a hero sexy?

Angela : He has to be gorgeous, of course, but he must also be a heroic person who wants to protect the heroine from anyone who wants to hurt her. But at the same time, he can be just a littttttle sexually menacing and dominant when it comes to the heroine, but ONLY if he knows that secretly turns her on.

Niina : Turns me on... ahem, I mean... What’s the best compliment you've received on your writing? And who complimented you?

Angela : A young woman told me that her infant daughter had been in the hospital with a heart valve problem. She said ready my books helped her forget her fears, if only for a little while, and stay sane. I can't tell you how honored I felt, or how thrilled I was. It meant more to me than she will ever know.

Niina : I can only imagine, romance author's have helped a lot of people in more ways that can be said, they get way too little credit for it though. So what are you working on right now? Can you give us a sneak peak? Pretty please?

Angela : Here's a sample of THE ONCE AND FUTURE LOVER, again coming in April as part of WICKED GAMES. This is right after Arthur drinks from Merlin's Grail and becomes a vampire, which is why he looks so young. But his mind won't fully reawaken until he drinks enough blood, which Gwen must give him.

"Despite the lamp she held, the room was dark as a crypt after the torch-lit balustrade. Gwen fumbled to attach the lamp to the chain that hung from the ceiling.

  When she turned around, Mordred loomed over her like a wall of muscle. Gwen froze in wide-eyed horror, unable to breathe, much less scream.

  Arthur, she realized a moment later, and felt her heart lurch back into rhythm. It’s Arthur!

  His eyes were dark, not Mordred’s icy green. He didn’t look quite as young as his son, but he could have been an older brother. “Christ’s wounds, Arthur, you frightened me witless!”

  He stepped against her, forcing her to retreat until her back hit the wall. Leaning down, he sucked in a deep huffing breath, as if scenting her.

  “You’re scaring me.” Gwen struggled to regain control of her rising voice. “Give me a little room, please.”

  He didn't react, still breathing deeply bare inches from her throat. She planted both palms against his chest and shoved. “Step back, Arthur!”

  He caught her wrists and lifted them over her head. Gathering both hands in one of his, he pinned her against the cool plaster and leaned against her.

  Gwen once had a horse she was grooming pin her by shifting his weight, trapping her between his shoulder and the stable wall. The animal hadn’t applied any real pressure, but she’d found she couldn’t move him no matter how she pushed and struggled. Point made, the gelding finally stepped aside and let her go.

  Arthur’s hold felt exactly like that. Not tight enough to hurt, but completely inescapable. He watched her, his expression patient, while she strained against his warm, immoveable strength. “Arthur, dammit, let me…”

  “My Queen?” Lancelot called through the door. “Do you need help?"

  Arthur tensed and lifted his head, glaring toward the door. His lips peeled off his teeth.

  Two of them were fangs.

  “My Queen? Are you all right?”

  “I’m fine, Lance! He’s not hurting me, he’s just irritating the hell out of me. It’s not the first time, and I assure you it won’t be the last. Quit listening at the door before you hear something that will embarrass you as much as it does us.”

  There was a long, uncomfortable silence. “Excuse me, my Queen. I was but concerned. You sound…breathless.”

  “Breathless or not, I’m in no danger.” I hope. She had never been so intensely aware of her husband’s size and strength, especially compared to her own far more delicate body. Was he actually bigger than he had been two days before, if not in height, then in sheer muscular breadth?

  He looked down at her, his black stare hungry as he bared those fangs again. “Mine.”

  Gwen actually felt the word rumble from his chest to hers. “Yes, my King. Yours. Still. Always.”

  His snarl became a smile, sensual and hot. Gwen knew that smile. That was Arthur."

Niina : Yummy! :D Now to more personal questions! I you could only read 5 romance novels for the rest of your life what would they be, and why?

Angela : Naked in Death ( because I love Roarke and Eve ); JR Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series, because I adore her vampire brothers.

Niina : I love Roarke and Eve too! As well as BDB, what awesome taste you have. ;) Now, what's a typical day like for you?

Angela : Get up and start writing. I try to write 10 pages of fresh copy every day, though I sometimes get stuck.

Niina : What is your signature dish?

Angela : Lasagne.

Niina : Is there a natural wonder of the world you would like to visit?

Angela : The Coliseum.

Niina : What’s your “normal” make-up routine?

Angela : Clinique ivory base with rosé blush and lipstick and eyeshadow in earth tones.

Niina : Which Disney Prince would you pick if you had to choose?

Angela : Sleeping Beauty's. He had a sense of humor.

Niina : And then something a little racier! How many times a day does a romance author think of sex?

Angela : 20.

Niina : LOL! Very precise. ;) What’s the sexiest article of clothing on a guy?

Angela : Tight faded jeans.

Niina : If I was a man for a day I would…

There is so much going on. I should have read the first book before reading this. There were things I truly did enjoy about Into The Magic, the connection between Star and Adam was effortless, there was magic, enough action to keep it interesting and the added chemistry between Star, Adam and Tristan. And it's hot. Into the Magic is better read as a sequel so don't hop the line like I did and I'm sure you'll get much more from it.

Things didn't seem to go smoothly for Star she was on bumpy ride with magic, Adam, Tristan and lot of passion. She was a smart girl and even with all this going on she managed to keep it together. You got to love a guy who tries to stay away from a woman for her own good, you know how that ends right? ;) But then again there can be something so annoying about it, where you just wanna take hold of their shirt and shake them demanding to know if they were bumped on their head as kids.

Of course Vegas is always a character of its own as is the magic, so you won't be bored with Into The Magic.

The ding-dong of the doorbell put a halt to her primping. After shoving the makeup into a drawer, she went to the door.

Holy mother of… Star stood with her jaw open and her eyes wide. Tristan was hot. He was tall and had dark hair pulled into a ponytail. He wore a tight T-shirt that outlined a well-developed chest. His eyes were an unusual shade of silvery-grey and they focused directly on hers. Then he smiled, and her pulse sped up. A spark of heat ignited between her legs, which often happened when she was in close proximity to a delicious man, much to her discomfiture. This time, however, was different. A frisson of excitement tickled her spine and her scalp tingled. Tristan gave off a lot of power and she sensed it.

“May I come in?” he asked.

“Oh, yes, of course, please.”

She stepped out of the way as he strode in. His presence seemed to light the room up, and this position offered her another fine view, one of his delicious backside, accentuated by tight jeans.

Another effect of her practicing magic, she could now detect colours around people—auras, as the New Age people called them. She’d first noticed this with Adam, on Porrima. When he was excited and happy, he radiated a smooth, warm orange and yellow, so vibrant she felt it caress her skin. Tristan exuded something else, something raw and sensual that made goose bumps pop on her arms. Dancing flames surrounded this man, and he gave off a mix of power, hunger, and something sly. The colours around him kept changing, like a chameleon on a rainbow.

I was expecting something fun with a blurb like this and on some level there was funny snarkiness and wittiness but perhaps not as much as I expected. I think the premise made this bit unbelievable, point me to a man who read a woman's blog called Witty Bitches... I thought so. Unfortunately after this was said the novella lost most of credibility and believably.

I liked both Chandler and Lydia, and their chemistry especially when things begun to heat up. Loved the kissing game. The sex was hot and the anticipation was great for a short read as this. I liked the fact Lydia was sort of plus size and that Chandler was drawn to her for her realness. In fact I believe this story would have been greater as full length romance where we would have bit more slowly come to know these two so that their personalities could have been developed and would have not been bit hurried and because of that bit overdone.
