We we watching Nick At Nite© together, and a commercial popped up for a teen show. It was for That 70's Show. The two guys were in the basement and one of them said he and his girlfriend "did it". They were of course happy and excited for it...... Well my kid says, "wow what they'd do?" I say, "huh, what do you mean?" And my kid goes, "why are they so happy? What they'd do?" { long pause} Scrambling for the age appropriate explanation...... I was all ready to say "well honey, Their teens and their dating and they probably had their first ...ok I lost thoughts on anything and everything I could or really wanted to say. I'm not ready for this conversation with my 10yr old.... So I caved and simply said "Homework, they did their homework together." And my kid says, " Ugh I don't think Ill ever be that happy to do my homework. Even if its with a girl!" I can't dodge these bullets for ever, but boy am I glad I dodged this one!

Reading that article made me realized wow people can read this. It still amazes me I'm not the only one reading this! But I think that's good. Could you imagine if you sat back and thought as you were writing a post...wellllll I'm not the only one reading this. If you went into every post thinking others would read it. I know I probably wouldn't post half the stuff I have! Then your blog wouldn't be all you. When you write with the mind set of "others will be reading" you could become hindered, self conscious, doubty, even exaggerated. ...Totally ruining why you started blogging to begin with.....Or maybe that would be just me. I hardly edit myself, or re-read posts for that reason. (That and I'd realize maybe I am bi-polar) I want to get out what ever it is and let it go. I vent more on my other blog though than here. This one here is mainly sweet pie moments.♥

But man do I love when they're sick. They just lie in my bed and watch TV. I don't mind the tiny whines.

I like when the older kids sick. I know that sounds horrible. But, they're getting at that age where they don't need me as much or cuddle. Except when they're sick! I get to hold them and give 'em kissies. And they can't run! Course they couldn't run, too sick.

But it makes you realize how many sick days do I have left with them to cuddle. If my kids averages 2 colds a year and the cold last 4 days thats 8 days. 8 times 5 (I figure at 15 my son will no longer let me.) Thats 40!! I have 40 snuggle days left with my oldest! UGH. You factor in the possible 7 day flu and I'm up to 75 days. Still not enough time for me. But then I started thinking what if there's a broken bone! Thats not being mean, with my kids it's just a matter of time. You got a good 2 even 3 weeks!

I know it's harsh but I can't stand it. You don't realize how much you miss it til it's not there. So I'll be seeking out sick kids for a playdate with mine..... "Here Sickie Sickie!!!"

Last week I was in Atlanta , Georgia attending a conference. While I was in the airport, returning home, I heard several people behind me beginning to clap and cheer. I immediately turned around and witnessed one of the greatest acts of patriotism I have ever seen. Moving through the terminal was a group of soldiers in their camos. As they began heading to their gate, everyone (well almost everyone) was abruptly to their feet with their hands waving and cheering. When I saw the soldiers, probably 30-40 of them, being applauded and cheered for, it hit me. I'm not alone. I'm not the only red-blooded American who still loves this country and supports our troops and their families. Of course I immediately stopped and began clapping for these young unsung heroes who are putting their lives on the line everyday for us so we can go to school, work and home without fear or reprisal. Just when I thought I could not be more proud of my country or of our service men and women, a young girl, not more than 6 or 7 years old, ran up to one of the male soldiers. He kneeled down and said 'hi.' The little girl then asked him if he would give something to her daddy for her. The young soldier, who didn't look any older than maybe 22 himself, said he would try and what did she want to give to her Daddy. Then suddenly the little girl grabbed the neck of this soldier, gave him the biggest hug she could muster and then kissed him on the cheek. The mother of the little girl, who said her daughter's name was Courtney, told the young soldier that her husband was a Marine and had been in Iraq for 11 months now. As the mom was explaining how much her daughter Courtney missed her father, the young soldier began to tear up. When this temporarily single mom was done explaining her situation, all of the soldiers huddled together for a brief second. Then one of the other servicemen pulled out a military-looking walkie-talkie. They started playing with the device and talking back and forth on it. After about 10-15 seconds of this, the young soldier walked back over to Courtney, bent down and said this to her, 'I spoke to your daddy and he told me to give this to you.' He then hugged this little girl that he had just met and gave her a kiss on the cheek. He finished by saying 'your daddy told me to tell you that he loves you more than anything and he is coming home very soon.'The mom at this point was crying almost uncontrollably and as the young soldier stood to his feet, he saluted Courtney and her mom. I was standing no more than 6 feet away from this entire event. As the soldiers began to leave, heading towards their gate, people resumed their applause. As I stood there applauding and looked around, there were very few dry eyes, including my own. That young soldier in one last act of selflessness, turned around and blew a kiss to Courtney with a tear rolling down his cheek.

We need to remember everyday all of our soldiers and their families and thank God for them and their sacrifices. At the end of the day, it's good to be an American.RED FRIDAYS ----- Very soon, you will see a great many people wearing Red every Friday. The reason? Americans who support our troops used to be called the 'silent majority'. We are no longer silent, and are voicing our love for God, country and home in record breaking numbers. We are not organized, boisterous or over-bearing. We get no liberal media coverage on TV, to reflect our message or our opinions. Many American, like you, me and all our friends, simply want to recognize that the vast majority of America supports our troops. Our idea of showing solidarity and support for our troops with dignity and respect starts this Friday -and continues each and every Friday until the troops all come home, sending a deafening message that.. Every red-blooded American who supports our men and women afar will wear something red. By word of mouth, press, TV -- let's make the United States on every Friday a sea of red much like a homecoming football game in the bleachers. If every one of us who loves this country will share this with acquaintances, co-workers, friends, and family. It will not be long before the USA is covered in RED and it will let our troops know the once 'silent' majority is on their side more than ever; certainly more than the media lets on. The first thing a soldier says when asked 'What can we do to make things better for you?' is...We need your support and your prayers.Let's get the word out and lead with class and dignity, by example; and wear something red every Friday. IF YOU AGREE -- THEN SEND THIS ON.IF YOU COULDN'T CARE LESS THEN HIT THE DELETE BUTTON --- IT IS YOUR CHOICE. I don't know if you've seen this, but I couldn't delete it. WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, ONLY BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE.THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED---- SO WEAR RED! --- MAY GOD HELP AMERICA TO BECOME ONE NATION, UNDER GOD.

LOL When she cut it it was like a buzz cut on the top of her head, now its grown fast and well I thought I'd show you her progress...

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_8LFirCFlcA8/Sxmr5NzpdfI/AAAAAAAAAgY/QGWbQQDhltA/s400/IMG_0226.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5411545426709542386" />

This is the night before Thanksgiving, getting her hair ready in those neat buns. :)

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 238px; height: 400px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_8LFirCFlcA8/Sxmr4phMolI/AAAAAAAAAgQ/ngp4aOCaU5U/s400/IMG_0258.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5411545416968479314" />

And this is her Thanksgiving Day. Cute curls sort of take away from the crooked bangs.

Eventually once it's grown out a bit I will have to snip it. Especially the back where she went scissor happy.

But she's moved on to a new "weird" habit.... I can't believe I'm sharing this, but maybe one of you all have a similar story. She's stopped using the potty. FOr some reason outta nowhere she began peeing on pillows??? Just sits down and goes. For the last week I couldn't understand why the throw pillows were wet. I just tossed them into the wash and figured someone spilled. Last night I see her sitting on one in front of the TV watching Ki-Lan. Hadn't put two and two together until the same pillow was placed in the bathroom...wet! Aha! She's the one driving me crazy with all these mysterious wet pillows I seem to be washing left and right. Well I sat down with her and asked her why. In her cutie pie voice she said as she closed her eyes and shook her head, "No me do it eeevvvvaaa again, ok Mommy." She knew it was wrong didn't even try to give me an excuse, but still we'll see. If I find another wet potty pillow what to do...

Only this time is was oh so much more! A huge clump of hair awaited me as I walked through the door..... She was no where to be found. I screamed, searched high and low and even begged for her to come out of hiding.... She's too smart. She knew I would be angry.

I'm more upset with the boys who are to watch her while I'm at work. (Daddy sleeps during the day) I immediately asked how she was able to get into the school room to get at the scissors. Apparently, they sat down in the movie room to watch Tinkerbell with her and since its pitch black in there no one saw her her creep out.... Still wwaaahhhh!! My little girls hair is butchered! So, I put the boys all in a corner and continued my search for the beautician...

I cleared every room, every cabinet, and was almost going to go outside to search.... Thinking Daddy must of scared her since he never yells at her and who knows what he said when he saw such a sight...... So I go into my room and ask Daddy, who's getting ready for work, if he's seen her yet.... Nope still in hiding since the discovery...... OK Hmmm. Where could she have gone. Starting to get a little worried now. I have many acres and don't know where to start. Again, she's only 3!!

I come inside and still nothing. No one has seen or heard her. Now everyone's looking for her. I think duh check under my bed where the cats usually find sanctuary.... All I see is hair.... Long, short, buzzed hair. I move the hair a little and there she is asleep. Phew, a relief. I pull her out and dear Lord help me, her top hair is destroyed! No way to cover this experiment up. I wake her up and she looked at me sooo sadly and asked "do you still love my hair?" Aahhh.. "Yes, baby Mommy still loves your hair. But why did you cut it were you mad at it?" "No. Me peetty see"

So I didn't get out the frustration I had when I first saw the clump at the door. I just cried a little. Why do kids do this??

We were visiting a friend today and my daughter, who just turned 3 a couple weeks ago *sniffle*, wanted to pet their new bird.. A parrot.. First off this parrot is so cool, it has a bunch of different words and sounds it does. The first time I heard him I swear I thought a cell phone was ringing... Yea this bird does ring tones!! I thought that was soo neat!

But, my baby lady kept putting her Spongebob doll right up to the cage and we kept telling her he's gonna bite you if you get too close. Well, the bird kept pecking Spongebobs nose and twisting it... We kept yelling "NO! Get away!" This went on for a good 10 minutes. I'm not sure what she was thinking, because not 2 seconds beforehand we showed her the bite the parrot gave another little girl there. Do you think she cared NOOOOO! Do you think she listened to our warnings?? NOO! She leaned in to give the parrot a kiss and it grabbed onto her nose so quickly. I grabbed her away and holy goodness her nose was bleeding and it had a dent with a small bruise already ... She's fine, no broken nose. Still, I felt so bad. But, we did warn her....

Why is it that kids can hear over and over all the bad things that could happen, but yet keep on going?? "Get down, your gonna fall" "Don't eat that, you'll get sick" "Don't put your finger in there, It'll get stuck" "Slow down"...etc. Sometimes I feel like just sitting back and saving my breathe. They're gonna do it anyways.

Unemployment is at an all time high, but somehow the cost for food has managed to go up and up. Whats an average family to do? Thankfully there is a helping hand out there for you. Its called Angel Food Ministries.

History:
"In 1994, Pastors Joe and Linda Wingo found their hearts going out to the families of many of the local families in Monroe, GA, affected by the recent industrial plant closings. On their back porch, the first Angel Food distribution fed 34 families. Over the next years, other churches wanted to be get involved, and Angel Food began feeding hundreds of families across the southeast. Now, Angel Food feeds over 500,000 families a month in 35 states. Praise the Lord for his faithfulness!"

"Blessings by the box
Angel Food is available in a quantity that can fit into a medium-sized box at $30 per unit. Each month's menu is different than the previous month and consists of both fresh and frozen items with an average retail value of approximately $60. Comparison shopping has been done across the country in various communities using a wide range of retail grocery stores and has resulted in the same food items costing from between $42 and $78.
Generally, one unit of food assists in feeding a family of four for about one week or a single senior citizen for almost a month. The food is all the same high quality one could purchase at a grocery store. There are no second-hand items, no damaged or out-dated goods, no dented cans without labels, no day-old breads and no produce that is almost too ripe.
Also offered are specialty boxes such as steaks, chicken and pork. Many participants in this bonus program appreciate the expanded choices. Additionally, there is no limit to the number of units or bonus foods an individual can receive, and there are no applications to complete or qualifications to which participants must adhere. Angel Food Ministries also participates in the U.S. Food Stamp program, using the Off-Line Food Stamp Voucher system.

In these tough economic times its awesome to know your family won't go hungry thanks to people like Pastors Joe and Linda Wingo!

It was covered with names and small American flags mounted on either side of it. The six-year old had been staring at the plaque for some time, so the pastor walked up, stood beside the little boy, and said quietly, 'Good morning Alex.'
'Good morning Pastor,' he replied, still focused on the plaque. 'Pastor, what is this? '
The pastor said, 'Well son, it's a memorial to all the young men and women who died in the service.'

Soberly, they just stood together, staring at the large plaque. I tried the summer recreation program with the community center but I lost our spot. My van got towed from a fire lane and I missed two days of the program. They had a waiting list a mile long for eager kids with parent s who had transportation. So I understand.

But oh my, these boys are constantly fighting over something around here. I actually had a kid throw a metal 5lb weight at anothers head while they were trying to sleep.... Yea! Its like Lord of the Flies and I'm hiding in the corner...ok not hiding but at ropes end. I don't remember a summer so chaotic! If you've read my other blog, you know I'm having really bad panic attacks here lately. I don't know just yet what the common denominator is, but I can't be yelling and getting worked up or I get one. So, I think they're catching on to this and taking full advantage of it.

I've tried art projects to keep their hands busy. I made a splash area... reading for extra credit (since I home school)... still. But I got this very good piece of advice off TV somewhere..." When your kids have you stressed and angry, remember that you thought of them as a blessing once" I paraphrased, but that's the jest.

Its so true, I hate to admit this, but it gets hard to look at them the same way when they're constantly disobeying or hurting each other. You gotta sometimes step back, breathe and remember that day they laid them on your tummy and you saw their eyes open for the first time.

Mommy's of kids under 2 can't relate. Its still that awesome cutesy phase where everything is amazing. But when they're older and there is more than one (like 4!!), they play off each other not too amazing.

We've got some birthdays coming up that'll keep them busy for a while.

I can't end the post without acknowledging Caitie's new thing. "Babytiny" One word. Everything is babytiny.
