It’s using fecal transplants to stop a virulent bacteria infection that leads to inflammation of the colon and severe diarrhea. I call this the “poop solution.”

This infection sickens up to a half a million Americans and kills nearly 30,000 each year. The thing that makes the condition so dangerous is that it tends to strike more than once as it comes back in 30% of the people who get it.

The way docs treat it is with antibiotics like Vancomycin and Dificid.

There’s now a proven better way to stop C. diff infections and it’s using fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT). The research is showing that FMT has a better cure rate and a lower recurrence rate than antibiotics. This study was reported in the journal EClinicalMedicine.

Researchers at the University of Birmingham in the UK found that FMT is both more effective and less costly than antibiotics.

The problem is not the treatment but that professional guidelines still recommend antibiotics as the first-line treatment for C. diff.

Also, don’t be concerned as the donor is screened for any health conditions that could be spread through the feces. The donor’s stool is emulsified, filtered and sometimes frozen to preserve healthy gut bacteria.

While this study didn’t look at the effectiveness of oral capsules or enemas, they did compare having the FMT administered by colonoscopy or by a nasogastric tube. The researchers found that the nasogastric tube method was the least expensive treatment, and it was more effective than antibiotics.

So…if C. diff hits, you may have to educate your doc that there’s an alternative that’s better and cheaper than the usual use of antibiotics!
(Reported Bottom Line Health 2022)

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2885071272095816598.post-18900302908826342002024-03-09T08:00:00.001-05:002024-03-09T08:00:00.142-05:00Experiencing Hospital-Acquired Illnesses: My Personal Journey
This is a personal story about my experience with hospital caused illnesses that just happened to me.

This story starts when I noticed I was having heart palpations. I went to my doc in the beginning of November 2023 and she had me wear a heart monitor for 15 days.

The results did show that I had 40 episodes of heart palpitations and that I was only aware of 4 of them. The palpations tended to last less than 10 minutes whether I was aware of them or not.

I was in the process of scheduling an appointment with a Cardiologist when on December 21 I started having palpations and they didn’t want to stop. I went to the emergency room at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital.

They decided to admit me and would run a stress test and other tests the next day.

It turns out that evening the hospital was overwhelmed with patients. They had double their normal capacity of patients. Patients and beds were everywhere.

I wound up being put in a room that was usually a storage area which they sort of converted into a makeshift room for patients. There were 3 other patients in the room. The room was so cold, I kept my clothes on and was covered with 3 blankets. I even had my winter coat over the top of everything.

Several of the other patients in the room had sleep apnea and were snoring on and off during the night. We were all wired up to monitors that kept beeping and ringing all night long.

I barely slept that night.

The next day, while I was waiting to start taking the tests, I was bored so I was walking around the entire emergency room department to get some exercise.

After the stress test, when I saw the Cardiologist the next day, he said my heart was “pristine.” I don’t think you can get better than that.

It took another day for me to be discharged.

A few days later, I went to an Electro Cardiologist, and he said I had some frayed wires, and it was not life threatening. He said I could live with it or have a procedure done if I wanted to stop the palpitations. He also said that my heart was in great shape.

Now we fast forward to February 5, 2024. I had a fever for 3 days. I went to the Emergency Room, and I was admitted as they found that I had pneumonia, flu, and liquid in my left lung.

I was put in isolation, and they began treatments with lots of antibiotic IVs and pills. They also drained a half liter of fluid out of the left lung.

I was discharged 5 days later.

On February 12, I had heart palpations again that won’t stop, so I went back to the emergency room where they were able to stop the palpations. (later, I found out from my Electro Cardiologist that my heart was so strong that I could experience palpations for days without experiencing any damage to my heart. I didn’t know this at this time).

The docs also found that I still had pneumonia, flu, and I still had more liquid in my left lung.

After 8 days, I was released again and needed to do 3 weeks of at home antibiotic IVs every 6 hours, day and night, which I will be finishing this coming Tuesday – what fun.

Now the point of all of this is how and where did I get exposed to pneumonia and the flu since up until this point, all the blood tests my regular doc had been taking have been perfect with everything in the normal range.

I also don’t have contact with a lot of people as I have my office in my home. We have friends we get together with on weekends and no one has reported any kinds of illnesses like this.

My answer is when I was in the hospital the first time for the palpations, I must have been exposed to all these things when I was in the emergency room and was not aware of it. I assume my body attempted to fight this off between the time of my exposure in December and the first hospital visit in February.

So…my bottom line is if you have to go to the hospital be careful who you are exposed to when you are there as you don’t know who has what!

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2885071272095816598.post-65393898286264627932024-02-16T08:00:00.001-05:002024-02-16T08:00:00.332-05:00Harnessing Highways: Revolutionizing Solar Panel Placement for Sustainable Energy
Solar panels stand as vital components in our quest for alternative energy sources, which is essential for mitigating the impending threats of climate change. However, the conventional placement of solar farms often raises concerns, as they encroach upon ecologically sensitive lands or compete with agricultural needs.

Fortunately, a pioneering solution exists: the utilization of highway exit and unused highway lands for solar panel installation.

Consider the implications: rather than displacing ecosystems or agricultural activities, we can repurpose otherwise idle highway spaces to host solar panels. Take, for instance, the initiative undertaken near an exit off I-95 in Georgia, where solar panels will be able to supply electricity to more than 300 homes.

The potential extends far beyond small individual projects.

In Southern California alone, just three of its largest counties—Ventura, Los Angeles, and San Diego—boast over 4,000 acres of highway land suitable for solar panel deployment. The sheer magnitude of available space suggests a transformative opportunity: these highway expanses could collectively power upwards of 270,000 homes annually, significantly reducing reliance on fossil fuels and advancing the transition towards renewable energy.

The beauty of this concept lies in its scalability. Imagine replicating this model across every state, where highway exit ramps and unused land become bustling hubs of solar energy production. The cumulative effect would be nothing short of revolutionary, offering an additional sustainable solution to our energy needs while preserving precious natural resources.

So, solar panels by your exit ramps anyone?
(Original article reported by Meteor Blades for Daily Kos, October 8, 2023)

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2885071272095816598.post-16311955170816229782024-02-03T08:00:00.001-05:002024-02-03T08:00:00.249-05:00

In the vast landscape of pharmaceutical research, a troubling trend persists: women are shockingly underrepresented or outright excluded from crucial health studies. This exclusion has led to disastrous consequences, revealing a systemic flaw that demands immediate attention.

Consider this: in the evaluation of a drug aimed at treating female sexual dysfunction, one would expect women to be most of the study’s participants...and you’d be wrong! The reality was far diferent. Shockingly, the study comprised a mere two women among 23 men, a stark illustration of the gender bias prevalent in pharmaceutical research.

Moreover, the safety standards of everyday products, like cars, disproportionately favor men. Designed and tested predominantly on male dummies, cars are 71% less safe for women. Similarly, voice recognition software, a hallmark of modern technology, falls short in understanding women's voices accurately due to the overwhelming male dominance among its developers.

Even the term "human" often inadvertently excludes women, perpetuating a narrative that predominantly centers on men. With the advent of artificial intelligence, addressing gender identity bias assumes paramount importance. Algorithms marred by discrimination against women risk consigning 72% of people’s applications for jobs in the US to digital oblivion, underscoring the urgent need for reform.

In the realm of medical diagnosis, the data chasm looms large, leaving women 50% more likely to be misdiagnosed with a heart attack.

However, amid the bleak landscape, glimmers of hope emerge. A groundbreaking study by the University of Washington unveiled a promising strategy: leaving gender-associated language in the copy resulted in a remarkable 47.5% reduction in gender type casting errors.

The time to confront and rectify the pervasive gender bias in health studies is now. It's imperative to foster inclusivity, ensuring that women's voices and experiences are not only acknowledged but also embraced in the quest for equitable healthcare solutions. Only through collective action and a steadfast commitment to equality can we forge a future where health studies truly serve all members of society.

So…using the Superman analogy – It’s bird, it’s a plane, it’s Superman, let’s change it to…It’s a woman and be proud of that addition!

Enter Leqembi, the new Alzheimer's drug promising relief, albeit at a staggering cost. With an annual price tag of $26,500, the financial strain on patients and taxpayers looms large, with estimates suggesting an even higher expenditure of around $82,000 per patient per year for genetic tests and frequent brain scans, safety monitoring, and other care that might be necessary.

However, amidst the sea of costly medications, a beacon of hope emerges: niacinamide, a humble supplement with the potential to revolutionize Alzheimer's treatment. Unlike its pricey counterparts, niacinamide costs mere pennies a day while boasting remarkable efficacy.

In groundbreaking research, researchers discovered niacinamide's ability to combat Alzheimer's. One study revealed a remarkable 60 percent reduction in tau protein, which is a key marker of the disease, among patients supplemented with niacinamide. Moreover, niacinamide stops another hallmark of Alzheimer's by stabilizing microtubules which are in every cell and are the cellular highways crucial for intracellular transport. This stabilization prevents the cognitive breakdown observed in Alzheimer's patients, offering a tangible pathway to improved mental function.

The evidence doesn't end there. Mice studies further underscore niacinamide's potential, with some of the mice exhibiting cognitive restoration which one of the researchers said that it meant that the mice were "cognitively cured."

Remarkably, niacinamide's safety profile spans six decades of human use, with minimal adverse effects reported, primarily limited to mild nausea in a minority of cases. Adjusting dosage alleviated these concerns, affirming niacinamide's safety and tolerability.

Beyond Alzheimer's treatment, niacinamide presents a compelling case for enhancing overall brain function. Personal testimonials echo this sentiment, with individuals reporting improved memory and cognitive abilities from taking niacinamide.

As we navigate the expensive landscape of Alzheimer's treatments, niacinamide emerges as a beacon of hope, offering a cost-effective, safe, and potent alternative to conventional medications.

So…consider incorporating niacinamide into your daily regimen. I started with taking 1,000 mg once a day and I’m moving up to the recommended three times a day doses. If you have nausea, cut the dose down to 500 mg three times a day.

The outcome is you may impress everyone with how sharp your memory is!

(Reported by Jonathan Wright, MD, Nutrition & Healing, 2011)

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2885071272095816598.post-36274330245480673822024-01-20T08:00:00.001-05:002024-01-20T08:00:00.159-05:00There’s Now a Critical Caution About Weightlifting: Finding the Right Balance for Optimal Health
In the pursuit of fitness, it's essential to acknowledge a new major cautionary note regarding weightlifting, as pushing beyond a certain threshold may have a major adverse effects on your health.

Yes, you read it correctly.

A recent study, in the March-April 2023 issue of Missouri Medicine, conducted a comprehensive review of various studies on resistance training. The researchers uncovered a potential downside to weightlifting that requires your attention. While lifting weights still yields benefits, the key lies in the amount of time dedicated to this activity each week.

Several studies concluded that engaging in weightlifting for 30 to 60 minutes weekly proved advantageous. However, as you begin to approach the 60-minute mark, the benefits begin to wane. What's truly mind blowing is that surpassing 130 minutes per week can result in a person having a life expectancy similar to that of a sedentary individual.

A 2019 review also compared no exercise to resistance training, and it found a 21% reduction in overall mortality for those incorporating resistance training. Introducing aerobic exercise into the mix further decreased the mortality rate by 40%.

To strike the right balance, the researchers recommended limiting weightlifting to 20 minutes two or three times a week on non-consecutive days or opting for a 40 to 60-minute session once a week. This ensures that the positive effects of resistance training are maximized without compromising the person’s health.

Keep in mind that it's still crucial to continue incorporating resistance work into your routine as it aids in your maintaining muscle mass and strength in both muscles and bones.

So…exercising just became more manageable. You can seamlessly integrate weight work into your routine, alongside activities like walking, to find your exercise sweet spot.(Reported by Mercola.com on January 19, 2024)

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2885071272095816598.post-5014766565670343572024-01-13T08:00:00.001-05:002024-01-13T08:00:00.245-05:00Relating to People Who Are Different in the Workplace
Have you ever met someone who is different from you? By that I mean a person who is autistic, or has ADHD or dyslexic? You might be uncomfortable and not know how to relate to that person.

Now, think of that person applying for a job and the discomfort you might have interviewed the person. Now, think of how that person feels and their level of discomfort. Congratulations, you are experiencing the proverbial 2 ships passing in the night.

There is now a term for these people and it’s Neurodiverse.

These Neurodiverse people may actually be very smart and can get the work done, but they might do it all differently. There’s an organization at Stanford University called the Neurodiversity Project. Its purpose is to help these neurodiverse individuals looking for work and show companies how they can create a more accessible workplace.

The program is aimed at developing strengths in these people so that an organization’s managers and employees are equipped with the skills to work with neurodiverse individuals.

How important is this? As an example, 80% of the people on the autism spectrum are unemployed or underemployed. This number is so high because they don’t know how to maneuver in a social setting or people don’t understand how to work with them.

There can be tremendous value in having a neurodiverse person on staff because they may conceptualize things differently and can bring in new ideas and ways of solving problems.

Companies such as Google, Amazon, Dell, Facebook and the United Nations are working with them and developing best practices in recruitment.

An example of a simple change in a recruiting situation would be if the neurodiverse person has anxiety in an interview situation, then have them do some of the things they would be doing on the job to demonstrate their competency, or you can give the person the interview questions in advance of the interview so that the person will have time to prepare their answers.

Finally, an interviewer needs to realize that the neurodiverse person may not make eye contact, they may not do the “usual greetings” and they may not express enthusiasm. What the Neurodiversity Project is doing is teaching companies to not look at these kinds of criteria when judging a neurodiverse person for a job.

As an example, I have a friend who is great with computers (he actually works at Langley doing top secret computer work), but he is poor with relating socially. So…I and others changed our expectations which allows him to flourish around people.
(Reported PCMA.ORG, September/October 2021)

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2885071272095816598.post-68441534110469622712024-01-06T08:00:00.001-05:002024-01-06T08:00:00.245-05:00Our Gut Bacteria and the Relationship with Long COVID & Parkinson’s Disease
Our guts have millions of bacteria, viruses and fungi living in our intestinal tract. While many are beneficial and there are also ones that are harmful. Researchers are now exploring the connection between some of the microbes with long COVID and Parkinsons.

And it appears there is a connection.

First let’s look at Parkinson’s Disease which results in the patient experiencing tremors, muscle rigidity and dementia from a clumping of misfolded proteins in the patients’ brains. The new piece is that these clumps have also been found in patients’ intestinal nerves a decade or two before Parkinson’s symptoms even physically occur.

Researchers in Finland have found that a bacteria in the gut called Desulfovibrio, (DSV), is more common in people with Parkinson’s and that an increase in the quantity of this bacteria correlates with more severe symptoms.

The researchers concluded that specific strains of DSV are a likely cause of Parkinson’s. The researchers are now investigating how to either reduce the amount of these bacteria or eliminate them entirely from the patient’s gut to see how that will affect the patient’s Parkinson’s disease.

Now for long COVID. Previous research found a depletion of beneficial bacteria in the guts of COVID-19 patients.

In this study, the researchers from Hong Kong looked at 463 long-COVID patients who had at least one symptom from a list of 14 symptoms of long COVID which included chronic pain, shortness of breath, loss of taste and smell. Researchers found that a cocktail of microbes that they called SIM01 was helpful.

The researchers found that after six months the SIM01 group saw improvements in not only gut issues but also in their ability to concentrate and remember. There was also a reduction in feelings of unwellness. In this unwellness category the SIM01 patients had a 77% improvement verse 59% for the placebo group.

So…for Parkinson’s and long COVID patients there appears to be help on the way from those millions of organisms in their guts. For the rest of us, feed those critters well as they can affect your whole life!
(Reported Discover, Jan/Feb 2024)

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2885071272095816598.post-12671440200066382482023-12-16T08:00:00.001-05:002023-12-16T08:00:00.245-05:00 Embarking on a Fitness Adventure Before Surgery!
For readers of my Teplitz Blurbs, you're already in the loop about my
recent hernia surgery and how I meditated during the surgery, but today's
blurb isn't about my surgery per se; it's about a pre-surgery revelation
that turns out can be a game-changer on the road to recovery.

Picture this: Something called High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)
can lead the charge to reduce complications post-surgery. Now, before
you scoff at the idea of breaking a sweat right before going under the
knife, hear me out because this could be the secret sauce to a smoother
recovery.

According to a story I read in the November/December issue of "What
Doctors Don't Tell You," complications after surgery are shockingly
common, affecting around 30% of patients. We're talking cardiac
issues, pneumonia, and troublesome bowel problems.

For the more fragile among us, that percentage skyrockets to a
potentially life-threatening 50%.

But wait, enter HIIT, the unexpected hero of this story. Not sure
what it entails? Well, let me walk (or pedal) you through it. Imagine
a workout that involves walking or cycling at varying speeds, pushing
your limits for short bursts, and catching your breath in between.

For instance, in my HIIT routine, I kick things off with 60 seconds
of a leisurely stroll, then rev up to ¾ of my max speed for 30
seconds, push it even further to 7/8 speed for 20 seconds, and
finally, unleash my inner speed demon for a sprint at full tilt for
10 seconds. Rinse and repeat for 4 to 6 rounds.

And the beauty of it? You only need to do 2 or 3 sessions a week,
making it the perfect workout for the time-strapped among us. Trust
me, a little goes a long way with HIIT.

I have been doing HIIT for years, so I stumbled into the benefits of
doing HIIT before surgery.

So, let's get to the juicy part—why should you bother doing HIIT
before surgery? Drumroll, please. A study analyzed 12 other studies
involving 832 patients, all aged around 65, who indulged in HIIT for
4 to 6 weeks leading up to their surgeries.

The results were nothing short of spectacular. HIIT not only boosted
heart health but also slashed the risk of post-operative complications
by a whopping 56%.

And the cherry on top is it shaved three whole days off their hospital stay!

So…here's the pre-surgery plan: if you've got surgery on the horizon,
consider incorporating your preferred version of HIIT into your routine
4 to 6 weeks before you meet the knife. Happy HIIT-ing, and trust me,
your future post-surgery self will thank you for it!
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2885071272095816598.post-6097477936508936242023-12-09T08:00:00.001-05:002023-12-09T08:00:00.179-05:00Unlocking the Secrets of Cancer: Breakthrough Testing You Need to Know About
Unlocking the Secrets of Cancer: Breakthrough Testing You Need to Know About

In the realm of cancer detection, revolutionary tests have emerged, promising a game-changing approach to early diagnosis and treatment.

Surprisingly, many docs haven’t embraced these groundbreaking methods, leaving patients in the dark about their potential cancer risk.

A startling revelation from a medical professional highlighted that individuals in their 40s and 50s often visit her office with reports of their doctors neglecting crucial cancer screenings.

The turning point for me was stumbling upon an eye-opening article that unveiled the existence of highly accurate tests designed for early cancer detection.

Among these innovative diagnostics is a test offered by the Research Genetic Cancer Center (RGCC), using a blood test to identify circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and cancer stem cells (CSCs) within the body.

CTCs break off from the original tumor and embark on a journey through the body in search of a new home resulting in the tumor metastasizing.

Meanwhile, CSCs are within tumors. The problem is even after the patient has finished chemotherapy these stem cells can regrow which contributes to the cancer recurring.

Astoundingly, these CTCs and CSCs account for a staggering 95% of all cancer metastases and fatalities. The sentence from your Doc that “Your cancer has come back” are words no patient wants to hear.

It becomes clear that eliminating both CTCs and CSCs as well as the tumor itself is paramount to preventing the cancer from resurfacing.

Enter RGCC testing, a groundbreaking blood test which is highly accurate in detecting CTCs.

Beyond identification, this test also provides invaluable insights into the most effective chemotherapy treatments and even natural substances that will combat each patient's unique cancer.

This isn't just medicine; it's personalizing the fight against cancer.

The journey to effective cancer detection doesn't end there because you have the CSCs to deal with.

Various techniques and approaches now exist to pinpoint CSCs within a patient's body.

From Surface Marker Analysis to Aldehyde Dehydrogenase Activity, Side Population Analysis, Sphere Formation Assay, Functional Assays, Genetic and Molecular Profiling to advanced Imaging Techniques you can detect these CSCs. This is a comprehensive toolkit aimed at revolutionizing cancer diagnostics and treatments.

In a world where cancer might seem insurmountable, hope emerges.

If you suspect you might have cancer or have received a diagnosis, don't succumb to hopelessness. Take charge of your health by getting the RGCC blood test and beginning to deal with the CSCs.

You can now begin a personalized and effective battle against cancer. So…hearing the sentence “You’ve got cancer,” doesn’t have to feel like a death sentence.”
(Reported WDDTY, December, 2023)

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2885071272095816598.post-34720872586087659372023-12-02T08:00:00.001-05:002023-12-02T08:00:00.150-05:00My Surgery Happened
If you read my Blurb two weeks ago, then you knew that on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, I was going to be having inguinal hernia surgery. Again, an inguinal hernia is in the area near the groin.

Instead of having mesh installed, I was going to do something very different which is a technique called the Shouldice hernia repair method. This technique has been around since the 1940s. In doing it, you are doing overlapping layers of the tissues which makes it much stronger.

I had one inguinal hernia done 29 years ago and another 25 years ago. It was the 25-year-old one that tore. I had the Surgeon, Dr. Syabi, examine the 29-year-old one and he said it was still fine.

Now, the fun part of this happened with my Surgeon having agreed that I could meditate during the surgery and not be put to sleep.

So, after having done meditation during the first 2 surgeries decades ago, he was okay with me doing meditation. The Anesthesiologist was more concerned, but he finally relented when I agreed to take a drug that was a muscle relaxant. I made him give me only ½ the regular dose.

When they rolled me into the surgery suite, I just scooted from the gurney onto the operating table.

Dr. Syabi was using Novocain to numb the area, and this also helped control bleeding.

When you meditate you can hear everything around you and you can respond to it as opposed to when you are fast asleep or unconscious. So, whenever I would start to feel some pain starting, I would say “More Novocain” and then I’d continue meditating.

Dr. Sybai was also okay with me bringing a special recording by Stephen Halpern (who I’ve known for years) into the surgery with me having ear buds in. The recording is one of his subliminal message albums. This one is called “Accelerated Self-Healing”, and whenever the recording would finish, I would say “Please restart the recording” and they would. (For a list of his music and subliminal music, you can go to my website, www.Teplitz.com, and go to the Products dropdown menu. You’ll see his music there).

The surgery lasted 2 hours and when they said they were finished, I opened my eyes. Now, they needed to move me back to the gurney; instead, I just scooted over onto the gurney.

They took me to the recovery room even though I had no anesthetic to recover from. They were jammed up in the next section, so it took 1.5 hours to get taken back to it so I could get dressed and go. They needed me to pee to leave and I did that immediately!

I was actually ready to use the bathroom 15 minutes after the surgery and if permitted, I would have left then!

The other interesting part is that I had no pain right after the surgery and for about a day and a half. When I did have pain, I used Tylenol and ibuprofen and the pain level never got over a “3” on a 10 scale. Five days later, I stopped taking even those drugs.

I was even able to drive for a couple of hours on the way home from New York to Virginia Beach with no pain or difficulty on the Friday after Thanksgiving. The day after the surgery, I started doing gentle stretching exercises and modified yoga. Yesterday, I even did some jogging and used an exercise device that you need to use some strength to use. No pain at all.

So…I think 3 for 3 is a pretty good batting record. In the Majors, I’d be batting 1,000%. You can’t get better than that! Surgery, anyone?

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2885071272095816598.post-75649344000460676502023-11-18T08:00:00.002-05:002023-11-18T08:00:00.149-05:00Surgery’s A Coming
If you’ve been reading my Blurbs, you know that I don’t usually talk about personal stuff. My focus is on what’s new and exciting in the health, wellness and nutrition fields.

Well, this Blurb will be a little different. I’m going to combine the personal with the kinds of things I usually write about. So…let’s get started.

The title of this Blurb is “Surgery’s A Coming” because on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving (next week). I’m going to be having inguinal hernia surgery. An inguinal hernia is in the area near the groin.

While most people today needing this surgery have mesh installed. I’m going to be doing something very different which is a technique called the Shouldice hernia repair method.

I actually had the Shouldice method done on a hernia I had twenty-nine years age, and it has lasted all this time.

Now, many years ago before mesh was invented surgeons would stitch the 2 sides of the tear together. It worked fine except the failure rate was very high.

Dr. Edward Earle Shouldice (1890–1965) was the Canadian surgeon who invented the technique in the 1940s. This approach does overlap stitching together of 3 layers of tissue. This makes for a very strong bond (notice mine lasted 29 years – automobiles don’t last that long!).

Recovery is also actually very fast.

So, the Shouldice technique is part of the story. Now, here’s the rest of the story. First, you need to know for years prior to this when I needed dental work done, I would meditate instead of taking a Novocain injection. I’ve had several dentists and staff over the years that have been amazed that I can do that.

My surgeon for the hernia repair was Dr. Wayne Ferguson and when he was a med student at the University of Virginia Medical School had done a research paper on meditation and back pain. He found that meditating significantly reduced back pain.

So, when I asked him if I could meditate during the surgery, he said okay. This was before doing this during surgery as even considered. So, with his permission, that’s what I did.

Now, when you are meditating you can actually hear everything that’s being said since you’re conscious and not asleep or drugged and I heard Dr. Ferguson say…” it’s the wrong size needle and thread.” I just decided to just keep meditating and knew that he would figure it out.

When he said he was done, I sat up and startled him because he had forgotten that I was meditating.

Normally after surgery, they take you to the recovery room to recover from the anesthetic. I had nothing to recover from, so they starched their heads as to what to do with me.

They finally found an empty room for me to sit in and said for me to drink a bunch of water and when I peed, I could leave. A half-hour later, I walked out of the hospital.

I did the same thing several years later when I had to have a hernia repaired on the other side. The results were the same.

BTW, I asked my surgeon to write a letter about what happened during the surgery.

Here’s some of what Dr. Ferguson wrote, “The surgery went well, and he showed no untoward effects. He was able to leave the Surgery Center rather quickly after the procedure. It was interesting to note that even before the injection of the local anesthesia, his pulse rate dropped to 60. He seemed to tolerate the procedure extremely well with complete comfort.”

So…I think that there are two lessons here: 1. Investigate using the Shouldice Method for hernia repair and 2. Learn how to meditate!

There are not a lot of surgeons that do the Shouldice Method in this country (Canada has a whole facility dedicated to doing the Shouldice method). I found one outside of New York City – Dr. Sbayi.

If you do want to learn how to meditate, you can check out my e-book on Managing Your Stress in These Difficult Times: Succeeding in Times of Change at https://teplitz.com/Managing-Stress-Teplitz.html. In 8 pages it tells you everything you need to know about how to meditate, including several techniques you can experience.

BTW, since I talk about and demonstrate the power of prayer at many of my speaking engagements. I’d appreciate your sending prayers or positive thoughts to me on the complete success of the surgery on Wednesday morning.

P.S. Have a Happy Thanksgiving and due to the holiday, I won’t be publishing a Blurb next week.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2885071272095816598.post-25541471598262515812023-11-11T08:00:00.001-05:002023-11-11T08:00:00.155-05:00How To Lower Your Medical Bills - For Real
So, you just got your hospital bill and there are a bunch of charges that your insurance company doesn’t cover, or you may not have coverage at all and have to pay the whole bill. Is there something you can do to determine if all the codes and charges are justified and also potentially lower the amount you have to pay.

Well, there’s now a website that was created by a company that specializes in saving you money on these bills. It’s called www.goodbill.com and it’s having tremendous success in reducing people’s bills.

Assuming they are able to save you money (and it could be lots of money), they’ll take 20% of the savings as payment for their service. For example, if the hospital bill was $5,000, and they got it down to $2,000, they would take 20% of what they saved you - $600). You’ve still saved a bundle that stayed in your pocket.

BTW, I have no connection with them, I just think it’s important to help protect yourself from overcharging since it’s almost impossible for a layperson to figure out a hospital bill! Check it out to see for yourself whether it’s a worthwhile service.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2885071272095816598.post-44203935766494969952023-11-04T08:00:00.001-04:002023-11-04T08:00:00.143-04:00 Using Your Voice and Machine Called EVOX to Heal
In our fast-paced world, where technology constantly evolves, there's a growing emphasis on enhancing not only the functionalities of device s but also our own human experience.

EVOX, a revolutionary voice technology, is not just changing the way we interact with machines; it's also altering the way we perceive ourselves and the world around us.

EVOX, in combination with an area called Perception Reframing, is potentially poised to reshape our understanding of the human mind.

The Role of EVOX in Perception Reframing

EVOX, originally designed for the automotive industry, utilizes advanced natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning to interact with users in a conversational and intuitive manner. However, as we sail through the turbulent waters of information and disinformation, there is growing concern that our trust in scientific journals may be misplaced.

Let me paint a picture by shining a spotlight on scientific journals, and the storm clouds brewing over the studies they report that will make you rethink the reliability of these esteemed publications.

But what's the storm, you ask?

The issue is staggeringly simple, yet profoundly disturbing. It’s the alarming surge in the number of retractions of academic papers. In the not-so-distant past of 2002, the total count of retracted papers that year stood at 150.

Fast forward to the year 2022, and that number had skyrocketed to an astonishing 5,000 retractions. Yes, you read that correctly - a jaw-dropping leap from 150 to over 5,000!

The reasons for retracting these papers run the gamut from data falsification to plagiarism and flawed methodologies. Shockingly, this figure might be on the conservative side, according to experts.

Retraction Watch is an organization that meticulously monitors these issues. They suggest that the actual figure of 5,000 retractions might be a gross underestimate and could be as high as 1 in 50 papers that should be yanked off from the publications due to ethical violations or errors.

Here’s the grim reality - only 1 in 1,000 fraudulent papers ever faces the ax. The institutions standing behind these scientists publishing these fraudulent papers, be it universities, labs, or government agencies, have little motivation to clean house. Their reluctance stems from the fear of tarnishing their reputation and even facing potential lawsuits from disgruntled authors when fraudulent studies are exposed.

Now, here's the crux of the matter - with at least 5,000 bogus research papers circulating in the scientific world, how can we discern fact from fiction? The stakes are high, especially when your health and your doctor's decisions are on the line.

It's akin to playing Russian Roulette with your life. The inevitable result? A crisis of confidence, where skepticism might overshadow trust in any research endeavor because you can’t tell fact from fiction.

But before you despair, there is a glimmer of hope on the horizon.

In 2025, the National Science Foundation, a major research funder in the United States, is set to implement a game-changing policy.

They will demand public access to the data underpinning research studies. This crucial shift promises to bring greater transparency to the scientific world, making it harder to conceal deceit and easier to discern truth. Watchdog groups like Retraction Watch will finally have the tools they need to scrutinize the integrity of research data.

So, we anxiously await 2025, a year that promises to be a turning point in the battle for research credibility. The clock is ticking, and it's high time we shed light on the shadows cast by scientific journals then we can once again ‘follow the science’.

(Reported by Mother Jones, December 2023)"

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2885071272095816598.post-762091641465022912023-10-21T08:00:00.001-04:002023-10-21T08:00:00.141-04:00A Powerful Healing Device With the Strange Name – Scrambler Therapy
There’s a new device out there that’s FDA approved which can eliminate chronic pain without side effects and it’s got a strange name! It’s called Scrambler Therapy, and it has nothing to do with scrambled eggs.

Chronic pain is a debilitating condition that affects millions of people around the world. Traditional pain management approaches often involve drugs that can cause all kinds of side effects including getting addicted to the drugs and with opioids can led to addiction and even death.

Scrambler Therapy is really a new and innovative pain management technique that offers a promising alternative for those who have exhausted other options or an option that you can use right away.

Research shows that the device can relieve pain in 80 to 90% of patients who have chronic pain. You read that right – 80 to 90%!

So, how does it work?

Scrambler Therapy, also known as Calmare Therapy, is a non-invasive and drug-free pain management technique that was developed by Italian neuroscientist Dr. Giuseppe Marineo. The device works by overriding pain signals being sent to the brain.

Scrambler Therapy works on the principle of "teaching" the brain to perceive a non-painful sensation instead of the chronic pain signals. Let me explain how that works.

The device has electrode pads that are placed on the skin over the painful area. The device then sends electrical impulses to the nerves in the affected area. These impulses are designed to mimic non-painful sensations, like tingling or buzzing, which the brain is able to interpret as non-painful even though they are over the area that’s causing the pain.

Over a number of treatment sessions, these signals can effectively replace the chronic pain signals by reducing or eliminating the perception of pain.

Some of the benefits of Scrambler Therapy are that it’s non-invasive since the electrodes are attached to the skin over the pain area, it’s drug-free and its only side effect may be some skin irritation where the electrodes are attached.

Its success is amazingly high in successful treating everything from neuropathic pain, phantom limb pain, and pain resulting from conditions such as fibromyalgia, complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), and chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (that’s quite a list!)

Another benefit is that the treatments are customized to what the patient needs are, and the pain relief seems to be long-lasting, too!

While it has all these great benefits and its FDA approved, its not covered by most health insurance probably because it would definitely cut into the money drug companies make selling their products.

This is when you need to write the President, your Congress person and Senator demanding that this device be covered by all insurance programs…period!

So…instead of ordering scrambled eggs, you’ll be able to order scrambling your pain. (Reported in part Bottom Line Health, October 2023)

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2885071272095816598.post-61433520083017014982023-10-14T08:00:00.001-04:002023-10-14T08:00:00.147-04:00Hand Sanitizers Are Hazardous to Your Health
In the darkest days of the pandemic, hand sanitizers were our trusty companions, promising safety and security. But what if I told you that these seemingly innocent germ-fighting gels might be posing a silent threat to your health?

Brace yourself, because the journal Environmental Science & Technology has just unveiled a shocking revelation about a group of chemicals lurking in hand sanitizers, disinfectant wipes, solutions, and even on medical instruments.

The culprit behind this public health mystery are called quaternary ammonium compounds (QACs). Now, you might be wondering, what's so bad about these chemical compounds? Well, hold onto your seats because the list of potential dangers is quite concerning.

The researchers have linked QACs to a range of health concerns, including asthma, dermatitis, and inflammation. That's just the tip of the iceberg; these compounds might even have connections to infertility and birth defects. It's a chilling prospect.

But there's more. QACs are also playing a role in weakening our resistance to microbial invaders. These invisible assailants were already claiming millions of lives annually long before the pandemic's arrival. The question now becomes, are hand sanitizers and the other products containing QACs inadvertently making us more vulnerable to these threats?

And as if that wasn't enough, the levels of QACs in our bodies and in the environment have been steadily climbing since the pandemic's onset. It's a silent invasion from products we assumed were protecting us from COVID19.

But here's the clincher: when it comes to protecting yourself from viruses and germs, QAC-laden hand sanitizers don't seem to offer any significant advantage over plain old soap and water. The very product you trusted to keep you safe might be exposing you to these unforeseen dangers, without any added benefit.

If you're part of a company, organization, or medical facility that relies on products containing QACs, it's crucial to heed this wake-up call. Share this blurb with the powers that be and also consider diving into the journal article to protect not only your health but the health of friends, family and those around you.
(Reported Northwestern, Fall 2023)

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2885071272095816598.post-37407558119533474392023-10-07T08:00:00.001-04:002023-10-07T08:00:00.150-04:00What’s in Real Food…It’s Actually a Mystery
So, you think you can look at the back of label on a food product that is actually healthy for you and tell all about what’s in it and how helpful it can be to your body.

Sorry, that’s not a true statement! And this realization comes from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Nutrient Database for Standard Reference. That agency has estimated that 99% of the components making up whole foods are a complete mystery to them. They do know what 188 nutritional components in the food are, including 38 flavonoids.

Scientists estimate there are more than 26,000 different biochemicals in our food.

You read that right 26,000!

It’s even worse when you look at processed and synthetic foods that claim to be what they call “equivalent to whole foods”. The scientists don’t even know what’s in 85% of the whole food to know if the processed food is really the equivalent of anything at all.

So, the label on the fake meat or other product might say on the label that it has all the same nutrients as in the real deal, you now know that they’re just making it up.

It gets even crazier - a May 2023 report by the Food and Agriculture Organization concluded there are at least 53 potential health hazards associated with lab-grown meat, including the possibility of contamination with heavy metals, microplastics, nano plastics and chemicals, allergenic additives, toxic components, antibiotics and prions (that’s what’s involved with mad cow disease!)

So…on the positive side, eating whole foods is giving you more than 26,000 biochemicals to keep your system running on all cylinders and that’s from just one type of whole foods. As an example, if you eat a variety of fresh veggies, you can multiply the 26K by say 6 different foods that are on your dinner plate 26,000 you’re consuming tens of thousands of different chemicals to help your body flourish.

So…whole and wholesome foods anyone??!!!
(Reported Mercola.com)

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2885071272095816598.post-20289426148768955932023-09-23T08:00:00.001-04:002023-09-23T08:00:00.140-04:00Discovery of a New Part in the Brain Might Impact Alzheimer’s
You might think we know about almost all the parts of the brain. While we probably do for most physical parts of the brain, we still need to learn about their functions. On functions, we are definitely still learning…a lot!

So, surprisingly there’s a new part of the brain that was recently discovered. It’s called by the long name - subarachnoid lymphatic-like membrane. We’ll use the shortened name – SLYM (that’s so much easier!)

SLYM is a very fragile membrane that encases the brain and the SLYM disintegrates when there is an autopsy. This means that none of the NCIS tv shows or real docs would have ever discovered it.

The researchers were able to discover it by using the latest high-resolution microscopy. They have also begun to figure out what it does…which is the really interesting part.

Since it encircles the brain, the SLYM membrane’s purpose seems to be to keep toxic fluids out of the brain!

It’s designed to be part of the brain’s waste disposal system. It keeps newly made cerebrospinal fluid separate from the “dirty” fluid that contains the body’s waste products. The importance of this discovery is that the SLYM membrane may be a factor in a number of diseases including Alzheimer's disease, multiple sclerosis and central nervous system disease infections.

One word of caution here and it’s that lumbar punctures and epidurals can damage the membrane. Would patients willingly get lumbar punctures and epidurals if they knew that this could damage the membrane? Or does more research need to be done to find a way to protect the SLYM and still get information that’s needed for treatment?
(Reported WDDTY. September 2023)

Here are a couple of quotes from Hippocrates that I just ran across that I found to be really interesting.

“If you are not your own doctor, then you are a fool” That’s pretty strong and clear!

“The greatest medicine of all is teaching people how not to need it.”

“The natural healing from within each of us is the greatest force in getting well.”

Great word of wisdom from Hippocrates, the Father of modern medicine.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2885071272095816598.post-59263699328651459472023-09-16T08:00:00.001-04:002023-09-16T08:00:00.146-04:00What Are The Effects of 5G Cell Towers on People?
This sounds like a legitimate question that it would be good to ask since we are all now being surrounded by 5G cell transmission towers?

While I think it’s a good question, it appears that the Federal Communications Commission doesn’t believe it needs to be answered.

How do we know this? It’s because the FCC has had court orders issued by the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit for the agency to review the health and safety guidelines for radiofrequency (RF) radiation exposure. The orders were issued not once but twice!

The first case was in 2019 and then again in 2021. Guess which agency has done since then? How about zilch, nothing, nada to follow the court’s orders?

You guessed right. This means you’re smarter than the entire FCC.

It turns out the ruling in 2019 told the FCC to follow the National Environmental Policy Act guidelines and conduct an environmental impact review on 5G technology.

Then, in 2021 the court required the FCC to review all the scientific evidence regarding the safety of RF radiation for people and the environment.

So, what can we do about this?

Well, two towns in Massachusetts decided to take action and not bury their heads in the sand or roll over to the telecom companies. Both towns on May 1 blocked the installation of 5G cell towers by ruling that the application to build the towers was “incomplete.” The towns want a review to include independent research that is not funded by the telecom industry – a very wise decision.

So…maybe your town or city should take action on this. I’d also suggest you contact your elected officials at all levels of government to put pressure on the FCC to do their job and protect the public’s health and safety! These 5G networks could be harming us and we don’t know it…so far!
(Reported What Doctors Don’t Tell You, September 2023)

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2885071272095816598.post-41306045190622739532023-09-09T08:00:00.001-04:002023-09-09T08:00:00.158-04:00We May Have to Reconsider Using Ivermectin for COVID-19
As you probably know, Ivermectin has been attacked as a medicine to use to fight COVID-19. It’s been described as horse medicine and lots of other names. Since this topic has a lot of reactions attached to it, please read the full blurb before you start your reaction!

Let’s start with a peer reviewed study that was just published in the journal Cureus that took a lot closer look at what Ivermectin is doing.

Now, keep in mind that Ivermectin has been used in Africa for many decades to prevent river blindness. Also, since 1987, over 3.7 billion doses have been used in humans (and not horses) worldwide with a great safety record.

This study in Cureus looked at what happened in 10 states in Peru where it was used most intensively. The results of this study were quite amazing as Ivermectin resulted in a 74% reduction in excess deaths.

Similar results were reported from Itajai, Brazil which is a city of 220,000 people. In June 2020, they implemented a prophylaxis program using Ivermectin. The program was advertised throughout the local media, and people were encouraged to participate and take Ivermectin four times a month, on days 1, 2, 15 and 16.

On the appropriate days, the government set up tents and centers where people could get the drug, and the entire program was carefully logged in an electronic database. In all, 159,000 Brazilians participated, of those 113,000 elected to take the ivermectin.

The paper that published the results found that those who used ivermectin had a 44% reduction in the COVID-19 infection rate, a 68% reduction in COVID-19 mortality and a 56% reduction in hospitalization rate compared to those who did not take Ivermectin.

Ivermectin has also been shown to speed recovery, in part by inhibiting inflammation and protecting against organ damage. This lowered the risk of hospitalization and death. Meta analyses have shown an average reduction in mortality that ranges from 75% to 83%.

On August 16, 2023, the FDA actually tweeted, "Health care professionals generally may choose to prescribe an approved human drug for an unapproved use when they judge that the unapproved use is medically appropriate for an individual patient." This tweet means that your Doc can prescribe Ivermectin for you legally.

So…with COVID making a comeback you might want to be armed with some Ivermectin as it appears to be able to stop COVID in its tracks.
(Reported Mercola.com)

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2885071272095816598.post-82312073106188129572023-08-19T08:00:00.001-04:002023-08-19T08:00:00.158-04:00Genetic Breakthroughs on Living Longer and Staying Healthy
There have been some exciting breakthroughs at Harvard Medical School on aging.

One of the first things the article I read talked about was a cold-water fish that appears to never die from natural causes. The fish die from injuries or being eaten, not from aging. As a matter of fact, some of the fish are hundreds of years old and are still frisky!

The researchers found by adding genes into a laboratory dish of adult human cells that they could convert the adult cells back to cells which were similar to those of a human embryo.

In worms, they introduced a handful of genes and found that the worms lived 5 times longer. These worms were as active as they had been in their “worm youth” until they were near the end of their life. This meant both the worms life span and health span were extended.

In mice, researchers inserted 3 genes into mice and the researchers found it protected the mice from becoming obese, developing diabetes, kidney or heart disease. That’s just from adding 3 genes!

In mice that were going blind, the researchers inserted 3 genes (I guess they like the number 3!?) into the mice’s eyes and this fully restored their vision!

So…I’ll take 3 of those and 2 of those for longevity!
(Reported Harvard Health Guides, 2023)

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2885071272095816598.post-26211700013198100672023-08-12T15:41:00.001-04:002023-08-12T15:41:00.139-04:00The Power of Intermittent Fasting
You may have heard the term Intermittent Fasting (IMF) which is also called Time-Shifted Eating. In case you haven’t heard of it or are not clear about it let me give you a quick explanation of what it is and the power that is being discovered in eating this way.

IMF is when you reduce the number of hours when you are eating food so that you are fasting 12 to 14 hours a day with no food. This means that you might have your first meal at lunchtime at 12 noon and the second meal before 8 pm. You’re basically looking to eat within a time window of 8 hours which means you’re fasting for 14 hours.

I’ve actually been practicing eating this way for around 9 months now and I find it very easy to do.

So, that’s how it works and now for the more important stuff. What researchers at Harvard, John Hopkins and other top universities have discovered is that eating the IMF way affects a process called brain shrinkage since you lose 5% of your neurons every decade after age 40.

IMF can stop and even reverse this process.

What the researchers are discovering is that there is a substance called brain-derived neurotropic factor (BDNF) that is responsible for stimulating the creation of new neurons in your brain. What IMF does is trigger more of the BDNFs to be created. One study even reported that IMF boosted BDNF production by up to 50%.

The research is also showing that IMF is increasing the size of your hippocampus which is where memories are stored. This can improve mental sharpness and may even ward off Alzheimer’s and dementia!

If you can’t do it every day, even doing it a few days of the week will help. You can also set your eating times to match your schedule. While I eat at noon and before 8 pm, you could eat at 8 am and 4 pm or any 8-hour period that works for you.

If you decide to do IMF, let me know what your results are.
(Reported The Alzheimer’s Solution, bottomlineinc.com)

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2885071272095816598.post-70771542315469273872023-07-29T08:00:00.001-04:002023-07-29T08:00:00.169-04:00The Total Lack of Positive Stories in the Media
So, what’s in the news? This is an interesting question since I talk about and demonstrate at my Virtual and Live Keynotes and Programs the power of positive thinking and how it affects your life. You can check this out on the video on my website where I demonstrate the Power of Positive Thinking. Go to www.Teplitz.com and scroll down to the second video.

It turns out the situation where we focus on the negative is worse than I thought according to a website called Goodable (which you can find in the app store), which aims to publish positive news stories. They did a story, which is quite interesting, on some research they did on the number of negative stories reported at the world’s top news sites.

They focused their research on only the biggest news sites, which included: Apple, Google, Yahoo, ABC and CNN. Together, these news sites have over a billion visitors per day. Here’s what they found:

Of the top 30 news stories on Apple, only two were about positive things in the world. Just two. Their top headlines were about flooding and Ukraine.

Of Google’s top 34 news stories, only ONE was about anything positive. Think about that. In a world with 8 billion people and amazing things happening everyday Google only had one positive thing in their top 30 stories.

Yahoo was only marginally better as only four out of their top 50 stories were positive, which is just 8%.

Overall, they found that the total percentage of negative news was 94.8%.

To be sure that it wasn’t just due to what was happening that particular day, they ran the same analysis the next day, and the results were 93.1% negative news.

The problem for all of us is that news is all around us.

The Goodable’s researcher’s conclusion is that the negativity in the news is everywhere and the effect it has on our mental health as well as our political and social system is catastrophic (their word).

The reason this happens is because of our survival mechanism. Our five senses are always alert as to what’s threatening our survival. We’re always looking around for the saber tooth tiger, even when we are not aware of it and even if you know it’s not there.

Focusing on the negative feeds this survival instinct. Which means we need to consciously focus on the positive. And I know there are positive things happening all the time, yet the impression we are left with is that everything is going to pot.

You might want to check the Goodable website out. Another site that has at least one report every day on multiple good things that are happening is on the website DailyKos.com.

So…focus on the positive and not the negative!
(Reported DailyKos.com)

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2885071272095816598.post-86909091284028138872023-07-15T08:00:00.001-04:002023-07-15T08:00:00.143-04:00Lowering Blood Pressure After a Stroke Is Dangerous
A study reported in The Lancet found that the standard treatment for lowering a patient’s blood pressure after a stroke is dangerous and should be stopped immediately.

Doctors have been trained to aggressively lower blood pressure levels after dissolving the blood clot in the brain that caused the stroke. What these researchers have found is doing this is causing major disabilities and killing new brain tissue in patients.

The researchers recruited 816 people who had a stroke blocking their blood vessels. Half had the standard treatment to lower blood pressure below 120 mm Hg and the other half had their blood pressure lowered to between 140 to 180 mm Hg. The researchers wanted to reach this level within an hour and keep it there for 3 days.

The patients who had the standard treatment suffered major disabilities and weren’t seeing any improvement in their ability to move their body.

While the researchers know that the dangerous level is the current treatment, they still need to figure out what the optimum level should be following a stroke.

In case you know someone who has a stroke you want to immediately tell their docs about this research and tell them not to do the standard treatment – period! You can google ‘lowering blood pressure after a stroke is dangerous’ to find a number of confirming studies you can give the doc.
(Reported The Lancet, 2022)

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0
