My Own Domain

Hey everyone! ChewyGummy.net is finally launched! I finally made a move, from free blogspot blog to my very own domain and hosting plan. I never felt happier owning my own domain, after seeing few friends of mine did so (although forking out for it quite hurts my wallet).

For the mean time, all visits to chewygummy.net will be redirected to blog.chewygummy.net , the actual URL for my blog. When I’m done with the Main Page for my website (which will have link buttons to direct visitors to my other subdomains), I will cancel the redirection.

As to what will happen to this blog, I’m still thinking about it. I’m not going to delete it, as it stores many memories that happened from the very first day that blog was created (not to forget the PR3 for that blog). I’ll use this blog as my secondary blog, and maybe continue to do Photo Hunter. I might also consider to start PayPerPost in that blog (already qualified to do PPP).

I am not hibernating. (even though my blog is a little bit dead)

I also don't know why I am not blogging regularly. I tried to do so. I forced myself to do so. Everytime I come online, I tell myself to update my blog. After staring at the blogger dashboard for a while, I will end up chatting, gaming, web surfing or YouTube-ing. sigh

It is not that I am giving up on blogging (I still love blogging)
It is not that blogging is boring (Blogging is fun)
It is not that I don't know what to blog about (I have tonnes of stuffs to write)
It is just that sometimes I don't feel like blogging.
Don't ask me why. I don't even know the answer myself.
Hmmm......

Pathetic J.CO Meet Up

*Skipping the Laos entries first*

Last Wednesday, I had planned a meet up for Shouters at the new J.CO Donuts and Coffee outlet in Sunway Pyramid. It was supposed to be on Sunday, but few of the Shouters planned to go to Penang on Saturday and Sunday, so I brought forward this gathering to Wednesday. How I wish I didn't actually brought it forward but instead remained it on Sunday.

Only 2 other Shouters turned up !!!

WTH !!! Only Aaron@Axial and FireWire?

Luckily, the night before that event, I message Shaz through MSN and invited him to join us.
And luckily, Shaz brought his friend, Sandra together.
Or else, that meet up will surely write a new record in ShoutOut, for being "The Smallest ShoutOut Gathering". =.=

So we makan donuts, minum coffee, and cakap stories, with Shaz telling us about his "job" in the Prime Minister office. He told us about his "Glock 17mm" (pistol) and also his "access" to the database where he can find out about FireWire's real name and other biodata. LOL It was kinda fun listening to his "stories".

A gathering is never a complete one without group photos. So here are 3 of them.

Then, we left J.CO and was wandering around in Sunway Pyramid looking for a place for lunch. Shaz recommended us to try Carl's Jr. Charboiled Burgers. After we were there, we parted ways as Shaz and Sandra had to attend a conference.

When Aaron and FireWire came back to the seat after ordering, the waiting number plates they got attracted our attention. Why? Look at the photos below. LOL Mine was number 42.

While waiting for my burger to come, I played with my D40.

Then, here is a shot of FireWire doing something funny.

Why did he does that? He said that the fries were very hot. So he dipped them into the cold soft drink. swt swt swt =.=|||

Finally my burger came. I had ordered a Superstar with Cheese Combo Meal. It was so big that I couldn't finished it and had to ta-pau. LOL

After lunch, we went to the main court to take photos of the Chinese New Year decorations.

About 3pm, FireWire parted ways with us. Aaron wanted to go to KLCC to check out dSLR bag, and since I was going back with his car, I had to follow him to KLCC. I also took photos of the decorations in KLCC, but there wasn't much to shoot. So here is only one photo of the decor.

Welcome To Vientiene City

After getting down from the plane, a mini tour bus was waiting outside the airport to pick us up.

This kind of tour bus can be seen everywhere throughout the whole city of Vientiene as most tour agencies use this kind of bus to transport tourist.

By the way, I took photos of the tour guide and also the bus driver.

The tour guide's name is Souksamlan (we called him Souk), but I forgotten what is the driver's name. XP
Souk had worked for the agency for 3 years and he can speaks Lao, Thai, English, and Japanese. He sings Lao songs pretty well too. LOL

The transports and roads in Laos is different from Malaysia, Thailand and other countries around it (except China). In Malaysia and Thailand, the driver's seat is on the right side of a car, but in Laos, it is on the left side (like European countries).

Then, in Malaysia, when you are driving in a car, you will always be on the left side of the road. But in Laos, it is the opposite.
Luckily we didn't have to rent a car to travel around as we got a tour bus to do so, or else, I will surely feel kelam-kabut driving on the roads of Vientiene.

Just like in Thailand and Indonesia, tuk-tuks are common sight. They can be found everywhere on and along the roads in Vientiene city. I even saw about 10-15 tuk-tuks stopped at a crossroad junction waiting for business.

Traveling with a tuk-tuk (from one place to another place in the city) cost about 5000 Kip per person (about RM1.73, the exchange rate will be explain in the next post).

One news I heard from the tour guide, is that all tuk-tuk will be banned from all the streets of Vientiene from 2009 onwards. This is due to the SEA Games 2009 which will be held in Laos. The authority is trying to make Vientiene a more environmental-friendly place, as these tuk-tuks create serious air pollution (two of the tuk-tuks I rode released lots of white smokes). This explains why they want tuk-tuks to stay out of Vientiene city.

Finally the tour bus came to a halt in front of the hotel we are staying, the Asian Pavilion Hotel (4 star). As a blogger, I must not forget to take a photo with the logo and name of the hotel. LOL

One night in Asian Pavilion Hotel (room for two) is USD15 during off peak and USD30 during peak season (will rise to USD60 during the SEA Games).

While the person-in-charged was busy checking in, I saw a big mirror in the lobby. Hiak hiak hiak...... You know what la.

This photo is a little bit blur due to my bad photography skills with the new camera. Ever since my dad bought it, I still have no time to trial and error with it.

After getting the key to the hotel room, we were called to put our luggage in the room and get ready to go for lunch.
Steady la. Why so rush? So I played with my camera again in the room.

Opened the windows, I can see the street in front of the hotel. Most streets in Vientiene look like this.

That's it. Get ready for lunch in Laos.

Flying To Laos

I'm back from Laos!!! Miss me? LOL
This and the coming few posts will be all about my visit to Vientiene, Laos DPR.

I woke up at 5.30 am on Thursday because the flight was at 9.15 am. I reached the terminal at about 7.30 am.

That was my first time at the new low cost carrier terminal (LCCT). Since it is a low cost terminal, it is not very big like KLIA.

The flight number to Vientiene, the capital city of Laos, is AK 812.

After checking in, I had a set of Big Breakfast McValue Meal to fill my empty stomach. While at the waiting area, I spent the waiting time snapping around the area.

Finally, it was boarding time.

After finding a place and seated somewhere near the right wing area of the plane, I took a camwhoring photo of myself. My first camwhore with the new camera. LOL

The flight took about 2 half hours. Therefore, it was play time with my camera in the plane.

When I got bored of snapping the skies and wing of plane, I decided to walk about in the cabin. It was when I reached the front of the cabin that I saw something special which I didn't notice when I was boarding. I saw autographs of star players of Manchester United.

Woot! Even though I'm a fan of Arsenal FC, but seeing the autographs of star players in front of me, it will be a waste if I don't snap them. So I quickly took a photo of those signatures.

The plane landed at Wattay International Airport at about 10.45 am local time (Malaysian time is 11.45 am).

Wattay International Airport is the only airport in the country, but there are airfields in the north and south of Laos.

The weather in Vientiene is quite similar to Cameron and Genting Highlands. The sun is shining brightly and might burn the skin a bit, but the wind that is blowing is very cooling.

Later, I took a photo with Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney.

Ooops! I mean the images of them that were printed on the body of the plane (the sunlight was so bright that I can hardly open my eyes).

After going through the immigration check, I saw an advertisement board of a local telecommunication company.

Woot! O_o I'll be away again.
Where will I be going this time? Not very far, just to a place above Thailand & Cambodia, in between Myanmar & Vietnam, and below China, a country called LAOS.

Why Laos? Dunno. My uncle will be going there for business purposes (i guess). He invited my dad to go together, my dad pulak called me to go with him. Since I have never been there before, I might as well just follow them. All gain no lose. So I am flying there tomorrow. Don't miss me ya. LOL

AND AND AND......

The theme of this week is SKINNY.

"Why are you so skinny?"
"You didn't eat rice?"

These are the questions that my relatives and parents' friends will always ask me whenever they see me. From the time when I was still 13, until now when I am already almost 20, they will never stop asking the same old question.
I have to admit that I am quite skinny, as now I am about 173cm in height, but my weight is only about 55kg. It was worse few years back as I weigh only about 45kg (even my sister was heavier than me back then). LOL

Therefore, for the theme of this week, I decided to post the photos of me back then.

Meeting Firewire & Cherylyn (belated post)

Approximately 3 weeks ago, I went to The Curve with Aaron (TQ for fetching me there) to meet up with Firewire, Cherylyn and Jason, Cher's boyfriend (psst... he once shouted in SO for one day... anyone remember him?). That was the first time I met Firewire and Cherylyn.

Here are the photos from that day.

After dinner, we walked around the place and stopped at The Street (top), where there are many Christmas decorations (btm), a suitable place to take our group photo.

Aaron took this shot of Firewire & I "vandalising" the decorations.

Just at the back of the place we took the group photos, there is a stand-up board with a picture of 2 kids posing, so we tried to imitate the pose. Cherylyn is the only girl, so she had to pose, while I was wearing a hooded jacket, which can represent the boy's beanie, and was called to do it.

Hola everyone !!! I am back, back from my 'trip to Mars', with a good news and a bad news.
(but without the BANG I promised)

It has been more than 3 weeks since I last updated in my blog. I didn't update because I was busy with my final projects, and when I have time, I don't have the mood to do so. So I gave myself a break from blogosphere. Now to the good news. I am now back in the blogosphere, feeling quite refreshed, and ready to blog again.

I totally changed the template of my blog. My current one is a Christmas themed template, with everything related to Xmas, like the banner, the background, the favicon, the songs played and also the snowflakes effect (this one is so cool). Are you feeling Christmas-ty in my blog? LOL

The bad news is, I am going off again, tomorrow. LOL Where am i heading to? Guess?

I'll be back on Sunday and the very first thing I'll do when I come online will be to update on the small meet up we had at The Curve about 2 weeks ago. Stay tune.

Photo Hunter - Light

Hello to all Photo Hunters !!! How ya doing ? If I'm not mistaken, I had already skipped 7 weeks of photo hunting. OMG !!! The first couple of weeks I wasn't in the mood to hunt for photos, while the remaining 5 weeks I was busy with my final projects. But now, I AM BACK !!! Hope that my photo hunting skill is not rusty. LOL

The theme of this week is LIGHT.
I love this theme a lot. I have lots & lots of photos related to the effects of light. Below are a few of them.

Light travels at high velocity. It is so hard to capture in camera. A slight movement will cause the photo to become something totally different from the original view. And because of this, I love to play with light with my camera. LOL

This is the original view of a building full of lamps.

A slight movement of the camera will cause the photo to be like this.
Sometimes it will spoils the photo, but certain times it will turns out to be a truly amazing photo.

Below are 2 more light effect photos:

Under minimal light condition, I took the photo of this revolving light (red siren light) in a bus. . The result - a photo of something that looks like lava/flame effect.

Also under minimal light condition, I took the photo this flower made out of 6 glowing sticks. The photo turned out to be a shot of a glowing UFO floating in the air.

1. Wah! I feel so lazy to update post about events that happened. It is so troublesome to look through so many photos, pick out those nice ones, edit them with Adobe Photoshop, then upload them to Flickr. Maybe I'll do more event posts during my holiday where I would have more time to do many many things, including writing PayPerPost.
2. And for your information, I didn't reply those messages in my ShoutMix box because I still can't see the chatbox from my computer. I did try to visit internet cafe just to check out those messages, but they are using Internet Explorer 7, which kinda make the layout of my whole blog totally jumbled up. Therefore, I would like to apologize for not replying those messages.

I saw this interesting post which was posted in Friendster Bulletin Board. At first I didn't believe and didn't try them out as I am afraid I might crash my whole computer. I saved the post into text document in my computer. And finally one day, out of extreme curiosity, I decided to give it a try. And hey, the magic tricks worked and they are really amazing. Why not try them out yourselves? (it didn't crash my computer and I am sure it won't happen to your computers too)

Photo Hunter - Pink

In conjuction with the upcoming Halloween festival, I had made a Halloween banner for my blog. I like it a lot as it looks really creepy, which suits the Halloween mood perfectly, especially the word "Halloween" on the left side of the banner. What do you think of it?

The theme of this week is PINK.
I didn't participate last week because I am totally clueless about what photos to take for the theme. For the theme of this week, which is Pink, I was thinking of visiting the shopping mall nearby my house to shoot photos of 'Pink Panther stuffed doll'. But in the morning, my dad call me to follow him to work, and I came back quite late at night. Luckily, I called my sister in the afternoon to take photos of her stuffs, like pink hair accessories, pink make-up sets, pink clothes and pink dolls. When I came back from work, I just have to look through those photos she took, pick some nice ones and do some editing with Adobe Photoshop. Here are the pink stuffs my sister took.

For the past 2 months, I wasn't able to load my blog in usual speed as my computer had somehow blocked everything from Nuffnang.com.my. The Nuffnang ads were not loading and this makes my blog loads at least 200% slower than usual as it took a lot of time to transfer data from Nuffnang.com.my. I couldn't enter Nuffnang.com.m y as well, but what's strange was that I can enter Nuffnang.com & Nuffnang.com.sg.
Weird right? I did a lot of troubleshootings but still it doesn't solve the problem. I was thinking of formatting my computer, but due to the load of assignments, I couldn't find anytime to send my computer to the technician, plus I need my computer for certain assignments. As days passed by, matters got worse. Now, I can't load anything from ShoutMix.com, which means I can't see my own message box.
OMG !!! What the heck is wrong with my PC !!! I think I better send my computer for fixing as soon as possible, or else...... I can't really imagine what might happen. *sigh*

More & more bloggers are appearing in the blogosophere, and more & more friends of mine are starting to write blogs. Now, I have 3 blogs to introduce to everyone.

1. Expressionism In Lens (My "new" photography blog)
Why is it "new" blog instead of new blog without the inverted commas? I created this blog many many months ago, but I couldn't find anytime to actually post something in it. Therefore few days after I encountered the Nuffnang problem, I decided to ignore my original blog for awhile (until the problem is fix) and started my photography blog. Now I already have 3 posts in this blog.

In this blog, I'll put up nice photos that are taken with my lousy camera. I will also insert some poems once in awhile (if I have ideas & inspirations on what to write in the poem). In this blog, I wouldn't mind about the number of visitors, but I do care about the number of comments I get for each post as I hope I can get some C&C (if i'm no mistaken, it stands for comments & critiques) so that I can know what is nice and bad about the photographs I took. So please visit my photography blog and leave your comments. Feedbacks, both positive and negative ones, are all welcome as these will help me improve my photography skills.

2. eVo P (My best friend - Wei Chun's 2nd blog)
Yes. 2nd blog. His 1st one is now history (plus it was in a total mess). Now that he has quite a long holiday, he thought of blogging again. Therefore he started another blog (hope his new blog will last long *shifty*). He had also joined ShoutOut (after I persuaded him so many times) and he is now a part of the noisy family (I am proud to be noisy XP). So Shouters, show your support!!! Give him some tips and advices about blogging. He will surely appreciate that as he is still a newbie in blogosphere and he needs ideas & inspirations on what to blog about.

3. Eugene's Hako (My cousin - Eugene's virgin blog)
After persuading him for so many times, he had finally started a new blog in wordpress (no longer a virgin anymore. Congrats!!!) Like my friend that I mentioned above, he too needs a lot of blogging tips and advices. Jump over to his blog now and spam his comment box. XD

It has been some time since I last updated a non Photo Hunter post, and this post was supposed to be posted few days ago. Sorry for the delay.

Few days back, Benjipapa drew us (24 Shouters, including himself) our very own cartoon avatar. Wheeeeee... So nice of him to do so. Below is my avatar.

Photo Hunter - Curvy

The theme of this week is CURVY.
I only have one photo for this week. I felt quite tired today (plus a little bit of laziness), I opted not to go out to capture photos. Therefore, I am now in front of my computer, typing this post while looking for photos that suits the theme. How lucky am I to actually find a photo of something so curvy (I am always that lucky XP).

This is my photo for the week, taken during my visit to the RedBox Karaoke in Sunway Pyramid. The photo shows the reception counter in the lobby, with this big curvy arch with fluorescent lights in it. It is so curvy, almost to a circle, that it attracted my attention to
capture it with my camera.

Desktop Free View

Sorry for late update. I have problem with my browser. I don't know what is the problem, but I couldn't see any Nuffnang advertisement in all of the websites I visited. I can't even enter Nuffnang.com.my and I don't know why. I have been trying to find out the reason, therefore I have to delay my updates. Now, here is a quick one.

It has been some time since I last did tags in my blog. It is not because I skipped all the tags, but no one is tagging me anymore. (I am feeling happy, as tags are troublesome, but yet I am feeling sad, because not being tagged means no one actually think of me when they tagged someone)

Criz tagged me to do this, and it is a simple one, which is to take a screenshot of my desktop and post it up. Here is the screenshot of my desktop.

Yes. This is my desktop. No nice graphics, pictures or photos as my desktop background. This is because my computer is a shared one, shared between 3 siblings and one father. My 1st younger sister wants Korean stars' photos. My 2nd younger sister likes Barbie dolls pictures. My dad prefers a plain and eye soothing one. Myself? I like robots and cartoons. And since this is a shared PC, I decided to use this Windows background as my desktop. Plus, a plain background will not slow down the computer speed. These are all I have to say about my desktop. Don't believe? Not my problem.

Photo Hunter - Paper

The theme of this week is PAPER.
Again, like usual, I search through the old photos in my computer, and I found these photos. This was a final project for the subject 'Finished Art' during my first term in college, where everyone was supposed to design and make a card.

So easy? Nope. We were only allowed to use colour papers to make the cards. No drawings, no printings, nothing else but just cut-out colour papers with the collage method (cut and paste method). Interesting right? The theme I picked was underwater world (marine's life) and these are the photos of the final outcome which I took during my first term break.

There is a shark, a stingray, a crab, a starfish, an eel, some corals and seaweed on the left. On the right, there's a turtle, a squid, two seahorses, two clams/shells, some corals and seaweed. All of these were drawn on colour papers, cut out and pasted.

This is the cover of the card where there are 3 clown fish and a small coral reef. 'Aqua City' is the title.

This is the back of it. As you can see, this is a blue whale. Cute right?

Here's a message i got from my friend during the exam season. It's kinda funny and it related to paper.

It takes 15 trees to produce the amount of paper that you use to write in one exam. Join us in promoting the noble cause of saving trees. SAY NO TO EXAM. TAK NAK. (in english=don't want)
