Having played some three dozen shows to over 1,000,000 fans over the course of 2010, Paul’s record-smashing Up and Coming Tour will make its first U.S. stop of 2011 on Friday, June 10 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, NV.

The announcement of Paul's return to Las Vegas comes nearly two years to the day from the now-legendary April 19, 2009 performance that christened The New Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, and was received with unanimous rapture by media both local ("the concert of a lifetime"--LAS VEGAS CITYLIFE; "Hair-raising. Spine-tingling. Maybe I’m amazed"--LAS VEGAS SUN) and national ("Macca signatures... still have the power to raise gooseflesh"--USA TODAY; "The energy at The Joint was like being at Bruce and U2 combined... The night was truly spectacular and took this fan on an emotional journey"--HITS).

Paul's triumphant return to Vegas June 10 at the MGM Grand can safely be predicted to feature some nearly three hours of the world’s best loved and most known music, with hits, deep cuts and surprises spanning his unrivalled career, from The Beatles, Wings, solo material and The Fireman’s critically acclaimed album Electric Arguments.

As on his Live 2009 tour and Up and Coming's 2010 run, Paul will be backed by the combo the LAS VEGAS SUN called "his best band since, well, the Beatles": Paul "Wix" Wickens (keyboards, guitar, percussion, harmonica, backing vocals), Rusty Anderson (guitar, backing vocals), Abe Laboriel Jr. (drums, backing vocals) and Brian Ray (guitar, bass, backing vocals).

In 2010 Paul performed over 30 Up and Coming Tour dates across North America, South America and the UK. In addition to overwhelming levels of critical acclaim wherever the band played, last year saw many career firsts for Paul. These included rocking The White House in front of President Barack Obama and his family in June when Paul was made the first ever British recipient of the prestigious Gershwin Prize For Popular Song. Paul returned to the White House again in December (where even the President joked about Paul becoming a regular there!) to be awarded with a Kennedy Center Honor.
Paul ended 2010 with a December 11 visit to Saturday Night Live in New York City followed by a career landmark first ever performance at Harlem's famed Apollo Theater on December 13 and three intimate homecoming shows in the UK. He played the smallest club show of his career at London’s legendary 100 Club to just 300 people, which made headlines as far as China. The final two shows were at the Hammersmith Apollo and at Liverpool’s O2 Academy. Both shows broke venue box office records.

South America Here Comes Paul again!!!

Due to overwhelming demand, Paul will play a second show at Rio de Janeiro's Estadio Olimpico Joao Havelange stadium on Monday 23rd May.

Paul's headline making visit to South America last year resulted in Macca-mania as makeshift 'McCartney villages' were built by fans in Brazil and Argentina, camping outside stadiums waiting days for the doors to open to get themselves the best possible position at the front of the crowd. Paul’s Up and Coming Tour played to over a quarter of a million people in just five shows last November, creating an even larger appetite for the McCartney live experience. Earlier in the year Paul smashed box office records in Mexico for the fastest ever selling live show in Mexico City.

Now, following weeks of feverish speculation, Paul today announces that his record breaking Up and Coming Tour will be returning to South America in May for three massive shows in Peru, Chile and Brazil. It’s expected that these shows will contain some special unique moments.

9th May will see Paul’s first ever show in Lima, Peru at the Estadio Monumental. The tour then travels to Santiago, Chile, returning there for the first time since 1993 with a show on 11th May at Estadio Nacional. The run of shows will finish in Rio de Janeiro at the Estadio Olimpico Joao Havelange on the 22nd & 23rd of May with Paul being the first ever artist to perform at this venue. The last time Paul played in Rio, 21 years ago, a World Record was set for the ‘Largest Stadium Attendance’ in history.

Speaking about his forthcoming show in Rio Paul said:

We had a great time in South America. The audiences know how to party and me and the band are looking forward to going back in May for some more rock n’ roll fun! We played three shows in Brazil last year. It was our first time there in some while and we had a blast. We are really looking forward to coming back.”

Paul and his band are currently rehearsing ideas for this new leg of the Up and Coming Tour and it’s safe to say that these shows will feature nearly three hours of the world’s best loved and most known music. Over the summer, Glee creator RYAN MURPHY revealed that no less a musical legend than PAUL MCCARTNEY had reached out to the show and offered his songs for use. Well, now he's finally taking Macca up on his offer.

Backstage at the Golden Globes, Murphy told reporters that when the show resumes in February, there will be two McCartney songs featured over six episodes. He revealed that in the Valentine's Day episode, cast member DARREN CRISS, who plays Blaine, will sing the #1 hit "Silly Love Songs," and added, "Yes, we are working heavily with Sir Paul."

Murphy was also asked what his favorite musical moment has been out of the countless numbers performed on Glee. He said, "I have so many of the, but I would have to go with our first thing that I think really put us on the map, which was 'Don't Stop Believin'." It seems very, very long ago. But that's it, for me."

Sir Paul McCartney is launching a new competition to find the best vegetarian dish.
The former Beatles star, 68, is teaming up with British TV show This Morning to hunt down a new dish that will be turned into the latest meal in his late wife Linda McCartney's vegetarian food range.
The singer put a video message on his website asking fans to come up with an interesting new dish.
He said: 'I've always been passionate about great food so I am delighted to be supporting our campaign to find the UK's tastiest meat-free dish.'
The winner will also have their picture put on the pack and they will win a new Baumatic cooker as well as a hand-made kitchen table by Titchmarsh & Goodwin.[...]
