Kids sad in society and to abolish the ghettos no poor child
Question:
1. How many kids do you guess where are in jail?
2. At Dr. Phillips high school where, with Joey fatone of n’sync and Britney spears attended in Orlando, Fl, how many teenagers do you think were or got pregnant there?
Solutions:
3. I think that they should do away with Child support – instead the government should be investing in Momma baby homes where the teenage girl and their babies taken care of too no putting that pressure on teenage boys who can’t even get a job yet and then get put in jail – sad no way going to stop!
- prevent moms being separated from babies and no baby dad will not go to jail due to them having baby. Hence, no child support! Sick of cops racial profiling the ghetto to gather new blood for their jail business. jails paid according to amount of people there!
- the money wouldn’t be allocated from the 80 Billion dollar business that the private and public jails are being paid- it’s a business, that is why DCF is illegal taking babies away from their moms to put into foster care- those fosters are being paid $1800 a child then they push kids out of house and the kids in trouble law mostly robbing for food – cops know where ghetto areas are then they arrest kids to lock them up so the jails get paid – it’s a business! Why pay Fosters when they could be supporting baby mommas keeping babies together with their family to raise baby with love and care- in special care homes for teenagers!
I went to boarding school why not have a college atmosphere for impoverished kids – they have all the opportunities and grow up in a good, healthy environment [Education, sports, food, shelter, manners. Rules, and a chance at life to succeed] 1= no ghettos and no jails for kids! Let’s put the jail system out of business by raising kids in an awesome environment!
This is baby steps to changing our society and giving kids a chance at life! You can’t build a house without any tools and a child can not live without love, food, clothes, shelter, and a stable home environment!
Therefore, we need to change society give every baby a chance at life and this starts with the army protecting every baby momma at hospital no DCF[ Department of children and families- Bob Partington] to take baby away and then putting teenage girl on plane to Amsterdam or where ever they are trafficking kids – illegal and very infuriating!

New Trends in the Entertainment Business

There are many trends that come and go so many that are here and gone in a flash except for the following: 3D movies, Digital downloads of music, and apps for smart phones that one can access their social media sites and play games on the go now.

We have been witnessing a rise of 3D movies on the big screen and now in our homes on flat screen T.V.’s. This technological advancement brings excitement to a once mundane screen to having objects literally jump out at us while watching a movie. With each new wave, however, the technology takes a leap forward. The first craze in 3Dmovies in the 1950s used red-blue anaglyph images, but this distorted the film's color. When 3D came around a second time in the 1980s, there was a new way to make 3D images: polarized anaglyphs. These images used light levels, rather than colors, to produce 3D. Now, in 2010, even the way 3D is filmed has taken another step forward.

Another trend is the new digital distribution models in the music industry. There is more convenience and less cost associated for the consumer when one goes to sites such as ITunes and purchases a song rather than buying the whole CD at the store.

There has been so much rage about the new technological advancements of smartphones and the apps that one can now have access too. Therefore, people can actually play video games all day long everywhere they go because of an app on their phone or tablet computer.

In conclusion, we are amidst a very exciting technological age with trends and advancements in computers leading us and making our every day more interactive and more fun. These trends are only developing larger and more complicated applications and therefore are here to stay.

It is important that people especially entrepreneurs know that there is financial assistance available to them to help start or improve their businesses. There are lots of companies that may offer assistance but from researching various websites I have found two that may help the most to small businesses in this time of an unstable economy, and they are the following: The Opportunity Finance Network, and the Association for Enterprise Opportunity.

The first organization is Opportunity Finance Network (OFN), and it is a national network of community development financial private institutions that offer affordable lending to small businesses–it is great in that they help people open businesses, and create jobs in impoverished towns. As well, OFN is in collaboration with Starbucks to help create jobs across the country, “Get America back to work.” Thus, this network has originated more than $23.2 billion in financing in urban, rural, and native communities through 2005 at 1.4 % interest. Also, OFN has financed 60,261 businesses. They have a strong mission statement that includes the following: financing, public policy, knowledge sharing, strategic counseling, and strategic communications. Therefore, it is wonderful that they included those topics within their mission statement to address the importance and what they want to accomplice- this keeps the network focused, dedicated, and on track of what the network entails.

The second is the Association for EnterpriseOpportunity, (AEO), and they create economic opportunities for underserved entrepreneurs. Therefore, AEO is a national membership organization and the voice of microenterprise development in the United States and for two decades they have helped more that two million entrepreneurs. Also, they help support entrepreneurs by contributing to them by business ownership. AEO mission states the following: In that they support development strong and effective U.S. microenterprise initiatives to assist underserved entrepreneurs in starting, stabilizing, and expanding businesses.

Therefore, both these organization/associations help small businesses in financial need and to create business and jobs. This is vital information in hard economic times when we need small business to create jobs, and with the necessary financing there is opportunity for businesses to thrive.

My expert views on business plans would have to be Referred to Oprah Winfrey. Also, she is recognized expert in their field of business. Oprah has established herself and proven that her business plans are very successful.

Oprah Winfrey was born January 29,1954, in Kosciusko, Mississippi. Oprah suffered a hard time growing up but eventually graduated Tennessee State University in 1971 with a degree that landed her a job in radio and television broadcasting in Nashville. She then moved and worked several television shows to eventually launching her own show, “The Oprah Winfrey Show” in 1986. Oprah’s fame continued to escalate to Forbes magazine naming Oprah the richest African American of 20^th Century and world’s only Black billionaire for three years consecutively.

What the wonderful and amazing attribute to Oprah has is her insight into business plans and what works and what to stay away from. Thus, Oprah has and is successful today-due to her strong beliefs on life and on her own beliefs on business. Oprah’s view on a business plan is also, very interesting as she states that, “ To write a business plan will force one to consider the what-ifs and tiny costs that one might overlook, and what one needs to change to finally make money with ones business.” (Burhoe, 2011) Therefore, this is a great philosophy to give to anyone starting out on their own adventure in setting up a company.

Apple’s IPhone 4 s sales soar- predicted to be over 4 million sold by time weekend is over, and it’s a tragedy that the man who was one of the most innovative men of all times could not live to see the success of his latest project.

Steve Jobs 1955- to 2011 was the co founder and as of to August 2011 when he stepped down, due to cancer, was the CEO of Apple Inc. Steve will be greatly missed as he brought the world into a new exciting realm of modern technology. “Jobs co-founded Apple Computer in 1976 and, with his childhood friend Steve Wozniak, marketed what was considered the world's first successful personal computer, the Apple II.” (Potter, 2011) Jobs innovation never stopped he went onto develop the iMac, iPod, iTunes, iPad, and the iPhone.

I feel that with Steve Jobs amazing contributions to Apple, we all are experiencing a more advanced technological age. I’m really curious to know if we have reached the top or will Steve’s imagination inspire others to try to walk in his footsteps to create the unexpected? However, there is no one that can accomplish what Steve Jobs has done as he revolutionized the music industry making iTunes, and the iPod. Wow, now we can download our favorite songs to add to our own individual libraries on our iPods without having to buy the whole album or CD- how genius of Steve.

It’s tragic that we lost such an amazing man, Steve Jobs. Also, it will be interesting to see who will take the challenge to commit to making a new technological advancement in this century. Who will be the next to rise to the ultimate top to show us the new visionary that Steve had and exhibited to us in all the fun technology and advancements that Apple Computer has made. Steve Jobs will continue to be an inspiration in my life.

Victoria’s Secret has bombarded my mailbox for the last few years with direct mail advertising. However, in our modern day of technology VS has taken there advertising into apps on mobile devices such as the IPhone. VS have integrated their ads into Pandora music app-as they are now focusing on geo-targeted mobile ads. These geo-target ads are such that when listening to music one may see banner ads to show consumers where the closest VS location is to purchase their latest fashion showcasing NFL.

Victoria’s Secret is targeting the widest population of mobile device users since most people are utilizing their phones for virtually everything now. VS new campaign is a new clothesline they have marketed around the NFL as their banner reads the following: Pink loves NFL. Shop New York Giants. 1.2mi away. As the banner advertises that VS loves NFL and to buy NY Giants clothes. As well, the app has integrated the navigation system into the feature allowing the consumer know the proximity to the nearest VS store.

The mobile ad when touched redirects the consumer to VS mobile landing page where they can purchase NFL-specific products being sold by VS. I think that this is amazing app and advertising technique that gets ones attention and with the ease of a touch the consumer may be informed of the closest VS store or be redirected to purchase various items from their phone-how easy is that? As well, consumers that frequently shop at VS and whom want to stay up-to date with the latest trends can sign up for alerts on their mobile phone and their will be a link to the site. Thus, this drives up the traffic to the VS site and when you have more people coming to ones site they are more prone to purchase products.

Therefore, when an ad is on a popular mobile site the consumer is most likely to hit on it and be directed to VS site-this is an amazing new marketing tactic that will prove to be very successful.

SIZZLE REEL

What is a “Sizzle Reel”? A sizzle reel is a new concept or pitch to a company to sponsor ones brand, and to disprove a misconception about the brand. The above sizzle reel on the WWE is phenomenal as there is a lot of misconceived notions about the WWE like it’s just for adults when in fact it is a PG content across the board.

Another surprising fact is that WWE is aired in 145 countries and converted into 30 languages. Also, they encourage every American to vote at voting time and they stress the importance of giving back to the community in so many ways. The WWE traveled to Iraq to help build up the moral with the troops visiting 130 bases and hospitals while there. As well, they are involved in the make a wish foundations making very ill children’s dreams come true. That really opened my eyes to the side of the WWE that really shows heart and real feelings when one can do great things for others.

The WWE is a fun, energetic, family action packed event. There are people from every walk and age to every race that love to watch and come to these events. As well, as many stars get involved too and express their love of the WWE. The WWE has been highlighted on many T.V. shows such as family feud and many talk shows to dramas.

In concluding, the sizzle reel really brought to fruition the extremely amazing acts of kindness of the works of charity that the WWE is involved in. As well, as so many stars speaking out about how the WWE is an action packed glamorous event. The sizzle reel really sparks an interest in the viewer and touches upon so many different and unique aspect of the WWE.

Risky Game –Sports Sponsorships

In todays world one used to always associate sponsorships with sports. However, in the last few years we have seen a trend in the decline of sponsorships going to various well-known athletes. The trend started with Tiger Woods scandalous behavior off the golf course that negative bad behavior in personal life that was trickling into his career so inevitably sponsors dropped him. Why would a highly respectable brand want to be associated with an athlete with a tarnished image- it would ruin the brands credibility and veracity with the public.

Sponsors and big companies are weary of these sports athletes because the athletes are letting the fans down with their tarnished and corrupted personal lives, which ultimately affect their sport that they are playing. Big companies are starting to ask why should they endorse men and their infidelity (Tiger Woods), men accused of rape (Bryant), and then they’re Michael Vik and his cruelty of hurting dogs. The sponsorships are extremely huge amounts of money for the sports athlete to drink the companies drink, or wear the company’s merchandise so the brand is tied to that athletes for the fans to go out and buy that brand too. Thus, when an athlete’s career is affected by his personal life then the sponsor has no choice to but to pull out so their brand will no longer be associated with that athlete.

We are witnessing a decline in the spending on sports since 2009 the sponsorships have decreased from $100 million to $11.3 million-sponsorships hitting the skid. The companies are analyzing the situation more and asking themselves if they are getting a return on their investments. Thus, Pepsi split with soccer athlete David Beckham for reason unknown except that does David actually drink Pepsi? Thus ended their 10-year relationship at $4 million a year. Also, in 2008 Microsoft declined to renew a two-year $1 million dollar deal with basketball Lebron James. Therefore, there is a decline in the sponsorships too because there is disconnect with the athletes and the product they endorse.

In conclusion, companies are realizing there is a big element of risk of sponsoring these star athletes because once they disappoint the fans that product their endorsing becomes tarnished too, or not looked upon as favorably and ultimately causes the sponsor to leave the athlete.

Media and Sports go hand in hand due to the fact that they both depend upon each other. They depend upon each other in the sense that the media would not have sports to report on if there was not any, and athletes get recognition from the media after they win a game. However, there is always positive and negatives about the media reporting on sports.

The pros of media coverage on sports is that athletes once they win a game they are recognized in the newspapers, T.V., public forums, and blogs. Thus, media can bring about amazing praise, glorification and expectation. As well, intense national marketing and exposure tends to make any sport very popular and provides top dollar to the top.

        The negative media coverage of an athlete can dramatically ruin his/her career. It is stated that distractions such as the media can interfere with a players ability to focus, and be harmful on the athletes chances of success. When an athlete losses it is exemplified in the media with negative judgement and criticism. As of 2004, China blamed the losses on exaggerated hype of China's athletes to win the Gold as they became too over confident. Therefore, it was sad that the athletes felt more pressure and resulted in distracting thoughts which ultimately caused them to loose. Another example of an athlete bombarded by negative criticism by the media was Mike Tyson. Mike was unbeatable at the top of his career but when his personal life came to the forefront in the media it had negative effects on Mikes career-he lost all his previous earned boxing titles because he mental state was affected by the media reporting on the personal life. However, Mike retorted by saying its his job to beat people and win fights and it's the medias job to sell papers.
In concluding, I think that if an athlete is at the top of his game then he or she will receive the awesome and positive media coverage that they deserve. It's like drinking and driving one know the consequences if one drinks they will be arrested and go to jail. Therefore, once an athlete is successful in his or her sport they must keep their actions on and off the court squeaky clean or it will affect their concentration from bad criticism in the media.

Bigggest Sports Conflict 2011

The biggest sports conflict of this millennium is one of the NFL lockout. This was huge as it was a major intense negotiation between the owners and the players who wanted a 60/40 split on revenues. Thus, because the owners desired to make the regular season from 16 to 18 games the players rightfully deserved to be compensated for their extra games. Therefore, due to the increase of millions of dollars from the cable TV contracts that would go into effect starting with the 14 seasons. Also, more than just television revenue is in the mix with additional deals in digital and broadband arenas. The negotiations consisted of how the two sides were to spit the $9 Billion in revenue.

Most of the players were in wait in see mode according to one football player from the Jaguars. It was very frustrating and sad for most of the players who wanted to see a resolution to the matter. However, finally NFL owners and players agreed to a new collective bargaining agreement to end the 136-day lockout. This was the longest labor strike in history. Also, there is no opt-out clause in final document so the league shall have peace of mind up to 2021 NFL draft. The NFL’s proposal touched on the following: players remain medical plan for life, regular season is 16 games through 2012, $900 million to 1 billion earmarked for retired player benefits, players unrestricted after four seasons, rookies salary cap, and drafted players receive four-year deals and undrafted receive three-year deals.

In conclusion, we see how an extraordinary lockout may be resolved peacefully and both sides win. Thus, this was the longest lockout in history and is the biggest recent controversy to date.

TradeMark Battles In Sports

Sport fan enthusiasts recognize and associate their favorite teams logo, and mascots with certain teams- this is what stands them out and makes them different from the other teams. Therefore, we need to protect this and not have trademark infringement. Trademarks protect words, names, sounds, colors, symbols, sports mascots utilized in commerce to distinguish goods and services from one business to another. (Morrow, 2010) An example of a popular mascot since 1947 is the Cleveland Indians mascot of the “Chief Wahoo.” Thus, when people infringe upon these, as reproducing a mascot on the Internet this is a trademark infringement.

Universities have been fighting trademark infringement costing schools millions of dollars in lost licensing fees-Miami University sued a bookstore for using its Redhawk trademarks in bookstore advertising material. (Morrow, 2010) I think that this is necessary to protect ones copyrighted works and material from being stolen without paying the rightful owner some money. If someone comes up with an idea that idea should be protected and the illegal profiting of ones goods should have harsh consequences.

                There are now 200 Universities that are members of the coalition to advance the protection of sports logos, an organization founded in 1992 by the NCAA. There success has attributed to more than 2,300 arrests and $175 million in illegal merchandise.
            In conclusion, this ultimately has to be stopped, the trademark infringement, so that the franchises and teams may profit from their merchandise; be recognized uniquely for their mascots, and to prevent other people from making unlicensed merchandise.

Interview with T.K. Sports Agent

I interviewed Tsubasa Kee for approximately 40 minutes to gain further insight into the world of being a sports agent. Tsubasa is very knowledgeable in the world of sports having friends who play in the NFL and the NBA.

Tsubasa Kee known as T.K., is currently working at Sports Management Worldwide, in Portland Oregon as an athlete advisor /manager. As well, he is the founder and President of 1^st class Athletes, a managerial company. T.K graduated from Washington State University in Pullman, WA and with a Masters degree from Concordia University in Chicago. (smwwagency, 2011)

My first question to T.K was, what made him interested in this job as a sports agent? He told me that a bunch of his friends play in the NFL pro league and they encouraged him to do it. Also, the film Jerry Maguire was an inspiring movie that excited him to pursuing his dream of sports agent. He said when asked as a little kid what he wanted to be when grows up the answer was always a sports agent.

The Second question was, how long have you been a sports agent? T.K. answered, “ 3-4 years”

The third question was the following: Do you think I have a chance, as a female to become a sports agent in a primarily male dominated career? T.K immediately was like sure you have a chance as there are many women representing NFL athletes. T.K. gave examples of a player who was represented by a woman sports agent and his name is Doug Flutie.

The fourth question was, is it difficult to be licensed with the NFL? His answer was absolutely yes its is very difficult. T.K. elaborated on this telling me exactly the procedures and costs associated with becoming a sports agent. He stipulated that there is a $2,000 non-refundable fee to apply and one must have the pre-requisites to even be considered-as in a Masters or Doctorate Degree. Then one must fly to Washington D.C. to write a four hour-long intensive exam much like the L.S.A.T exam that is a pre-requisite for law school. Also, there’s the $1,700 for insurance and bonding fee plus $5,000 for regulatory fees. Thus, one is looking at around $10,000 to be licensed sports agent with the NFL.

I informed T.K. that I was in law school last year and asked him if after completing my Masters Degree would it be necessary to go back to law school to become a sports agent? He said that wasn’t necessary for one to have a background in law, and how he learned contract law was on the Internet looking up various laws relating to contracts.

What entry-level jobs are best for learning as much as possible about being agent? T.K. emphasized the importance of a non-paid internship to getting ones foot in the door. He related it to becoming an attorney there are many steps before one is made a partner and therefore one must start ground level as an associate agent.

The final question I asked was how do you see the work of an agent changing? He asked me to clarify and I rephrased and said now with the football season back on and the lockout done how is it different? He said that the lockout went on for approx. four months and now that football is back on and the lockout over they are so very busy with singing veteran contracts, undrafted contracts too.

I ended the interview by telling T.K. how thankful I was that he took the time to let me interview him for my school. Overall this was an amazing interview as I learned a lot of insight about being a sports agent and he has inspired me to be strong in my future negotiations.

Facilities Management In Hard Economic Times

This paper will discuss creative ways in which to attract fans to a facility in a down economy. The article begins out by stating that even though we are in a recession, sports still draw crowds to their events. There still is fan loyalty to the larger collages and pro levels however; smaller teams are not doing so well in this economy. It is found that Southerners stay passionate about football even during hard times as Georgia, Florida, Auburn, Alabama, and LSU brought in a combined $303 million. Therefore, it appears that these teams and their rivals will continue to be successful in ticket sales, and T.V. contracts.

The devotion of the fans still attending events explains why television network ESPN and CBS have agreed to pay the Southwestern Conference $3 billion to broadcast football games over next 15 years. Thus, ESPN and CBS remain positive that there will be a tremendously huge turnout for all the events still despite a crippling economy because people still need to see their favorite teams play and to support them.

However, despite optimism there have been some signs of economic worry to world of sports. Thus, with companies that have laid off staff, closed offices, and several minor league professional teams in Southeast have collapsed. Also, Nascar races and Major League Baseball games is down. The Jacksonville, Florida based PGA Tours overall prize money could decline this year for first time since 1975. In Louisiana, there has been major budget cuts with college athletic departments and eliminated Tennis altogether. As well, the Arena Football League folded in 2009 after being successful for 22 yrs., and so did a couple minor league hockey teams in 2008 shut down. In November 2008 the Atlanta Silverbacks men’s United Soccer League team (professional soccer team) shut down and prior the Beat, Woman’s Professional Soccer (WPS) folded in 2003.

The stock car-racing league is facing hard economic times with high fuel prices, rising unemployment, and economic uncertainty have caused racing fans and automotive industry sponsors to cut spending. In Daytona at the International Speedway Corp to reflect Nascar’s troubles have lowered prices on over 150,000 seats, or 15% grandstand capacity. Although, this may help some to get the fans back in the stadium the corporate sponsorships are taking longer due to companies being more cautious with their marketing dollars. Thus, the ways to keep fans coming back was for many teams to develop several new ticket packages such as half-season plans. In Atlanta, the coaches improved the team adding a new quarterback and this increased ticket sales for that season. Another option is to offer six-month payment plan and an lay away plan for tickets. Also, a few Southeastern cities and states are putting their moneys into sport venues and this can be utilized for all the following to generate more revenue: parades, track meets, football and baseball games, rodeos, and festivals. The states are hoping to stimulate the economy by channeling tax dollars into sport facilities because so many jobs are created by these projects. Therefore, this is an excellent idea as seen as a Joint Venture-reaching out into community and to start a new renovation or new facility all together this will pump up peoples enthusiasm.

This is the right move and decision that in a bad economy if one can is to forge ahead and not too during these uncertain times when the first reaction of most business owners, entrepreneur and sales professionals is to cut back. The cut back happens across the board: marketing, innovation, research and development, expansion, acquisition of key people and resources and is depicted as a downward spiral. However, the best choice and decision is to go full speed ahead and do more-add, initiate, market more heavily, recruit the best people and explode through it with momentum and speed. This is the methodology we must take in order for each new facility to gain popularity in a down economy.

CNBC VIDEO- "The Biggest Plays in Sports Business"

        Alex Rodriguez was born July 27, 1975. He is a known as the best all around professional Baseball player, and plays third baseman for the NY Yankees. This is the biggest sports business story of decade as Alex, known as A-Rod, secured and finalized a $275 Million dollar deal with the Yankees. Thus, this makes A-rod the highest paid Baseball player.
A-Rod deserves all this money as of Sept. 2010 he hit a home run surpassing Sosa's mark of 604 home runs. Also, he was the youngest player to hit 50 home runs. This is a remarkable story as he beat his previous mark or deal that agent Scott Boras helped him achieve with the Texas Rangers of a $252 million dollar deal. This was due to the fact that A-Rod always wanted to return home to play with the NY Yankees but his agent told A-Rod that the Yankees did not want him back. However, this turned out not to be true and A-Rod found himself negotiating a deal by himself with Steinbrenner and his brother Hal, an executive vice president with the Yankees. A-Rod knew what he was worth and is a very valuable player even thought never won or reached a World Series yet. He negotiated with the Yankees and after 2 conversations the deal was made. The deal was as follows: A-Rod is to receive approx 32 million a year for 10 years, a sign on bonus of 2 million, and 6 million each for five milestones that team designates as historic achievements. As well, there is a no-trade clause in that A-Rod can not be traded without his permission. This is a great contract in that it allows A-Rod to earn $30 million more for reaching historic milestones.

         There is no doubt in any one minds that A-Rod is an amazing all around baseball player and now has the money too as he secured the biggest and most lucrative contract in baseball history with the Texas Rangers to only turn around and sign an even larger one with the NY Yankees a 275M deal for 10-yr contract. Therefore, this is the biggest sports story of the past decade.

Negotiating The Deal

Negotiating a deal maybe very rewarding if one knows how to prepare oneself prior to negotiating. In my Interview with Reina Orozco, Agency Director for BMG Talent Agency, I asked her the following questions relating to how to negotiate:

1. The first question is with your expertise in working in the entertainment industry for a huge talent agency how do you separate the people from the problem when negotiating with the client a rate for the models? Reina stated that she keeps the talents best interests foremost to get what they are worth regarding hourly and day rate. As well, Reina emphasized that it is important to keep the client happy to within the negotiation but not to undersell her talent. Thus, the client pays the talent based on his or her experience.

2. Do you have a B.A.T.N.A, which is the best alternative to negotiated agreement before you go into negotiation? In other words do you have a plan B an alternative solution to give you more power in a negotiation. Reina stated that she always comes prepared with a back up plan and that plan is for the client to book all the models (talent) on a shoot at a better rate of 20%.

3. How do you reach a mutual agreement amicably in your negotiation? Reina told me that she puts the range out there in the negotiation of what her models rates are and it varies between $1000, to $2000 based on the model and his or her experience. Therefore, the negotiation runs smoothly and everyone wins.

       Lady Gaga just hit number 1 on Forbes 100 list for being the highest ranking celebrity.   She is as eccentric as she is incredible. As well, Lady Gaga beats out Oprah's number one spot on Forbes because Lady Gaga made a reported 90 million on her Monster Ball Tour. She has an astounding 32 million fans on face book, 10 million followers on Twitter, and Born This Way single had 1 million digital downloads in five days.
   Although, 25 yr old Lady Gaga has shown to be very wild wearing a meat dress, and another time an egg at the Grammy's earlier this year yet she claims to be very traditional. She was inspired by her parents Joseph and Cynthia Germanotta who bought her albums such as: Stevie Wonder and the Beatles. As well, she grew up listening to Bruce Springstein, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, and Elton John all whom had a big influence on how she is today. She says she wants to have children someday but for right now she quotes,"I'm giving birth to lots of little monsters so I need to keep clear of stretch marks." Thus, she refers to her fans as "Little Monsters".

         Lady Gaga has been compared to Madonna but I only feel that she has because she is very original and has exploded onto the music scene with such passion and flare. However, Lady Gaga is very 2011 - she is so futuristic, has such amazing songs, and captivates her audience with dazzle. She is someone that is and does the unexpected so we are always wondering what she will do next-she keeps us locked in suspense of what comes next. Also, I think we saw another side to Lady Gaga when she mentored the kids on American Idol this season-she gave each one amazing praise and really great suggestions on how each one could improve on their singing or stage presence to win.
       All, I can say is wow we are seeing an amazing artist transform herself and evolve more into the future with style and an amazing voice. Lady Gaga is the complete package of what a star is and she has captivated a lot of little monsters!

Warner Music Sells Itself to Access For Billions

Warner Music sold itself to Access for $3.3 Billion dollars. Warner music is the worlds only publicly traded major music company. WMG, was involved in the recorded music business and the music publishing business. As well, WMG is recognized as holding the best known labels such as Asylum, Atlantic, Cordless, East West, Elektra, Nonesuch, Reprise, Rhino, Roadrunner, and Rykodisc. Also, WMG was involved with artist services as the following: artist management, merchandising, touring, fan clubs, VIP ticketing, sponsorships, and brand endorsements. Therefore, one can see how WMG was the world's largest recorded music business, and one of the musics most successful companies.
       On Friday April 29,2011 Warner Music Group (WMG) agreed to sell to the investment vehicle to the Russian billionaire Len Blavatnik for approx $3.3 billion dollars. Therefore, Access Industries will pay $8.25 a share for WMG and this is a 4.4 % premium to company's closing price of $7.90. Also, its 34% higher than WMG's avg share price over last 6 months.

       However, I feel that this is very exorbitant and a huge gamble to Access Industries to buy WMG and its debt of 20 million dollars in these hard economical uncertainty, and the obvious decline of CD sales has hurt the music industry tremendously.    As well, with all the digital downloads of music its a very risky undertaking to buy WMG even though it is one the worlds most successful companies. Thus, I'm assuming there's more to this takeover than meets the eyes as WMG has one the world's leading publishers with the music catalog of more than 1 million songs from 65,000 songwriters. This is a huge guess but Access may be planning on selling some those rights to songs to make extra revenue? Therefore, this would be a good plan as more artists are selling the right to their songs for money due to these new times of piracy and illegal downloads of music across the internet.
In concluding, it will be interesting to see how Access takes the company into the future and makes the company profitable.

James Cameron & the Inspiration Behind Filmmaking

James Cameron, a writer and director, of The Terminator, Aliens, The Abyss, Terminator 2, Titanic, and Avatar to name a few has dominated the movie industry for the last twenty years.

James Cameron gave a speech on his life and his inspiration on making various movies. As well, he stated his personal interests and love of scuba diving. His speech was very inspiring to hear as personally for me it gives me insight into the making of movies, as I want to represent actors/actresses.

He first started out by explaining how he has always had a passion for reading science fiction books and a curiosity of science. He loved to go hiking and collected snakes, and pod water to take back and analyze it under a microscope. In doing so he was curious to understand about the world and it’s possibilities. As well, James took this passion, and curiosity of robots, aliens, spaceships to draw and paint them –these were the images in his mind and the only way he knew how to express them was to put them on a movie screen.

In the late 1960’s, was a time of exploration, with the moon exploration and the new T.V. show Jacque Cousteau that both inspired James and led to hos passion of scuba diving. James, for the last forty years has spent 3000 hours under water and 500 hours in submersivals admiring and being mesmerized by the amazing life that lives in both deep and shallow waters. He says that this is nature’s imagination and it is boundless compared to the human imagination, which keeps his love affair of the ocean ongoing. Thus, was the ultimate reason he wanted to film the movie Titanic was to experience and do an exhibition to the depths of the actual ship. Therefore, he pitched his story of a love story on a ship of a type of Romeo and Juliet love story. Thus, after the success of the Titanic James went to do documentary type films about science exploration discovery- analyzing various forms of ocean life while he continued his love of scuba diving. As well, it was through this experience’s that led to the making of avatar, and to use a different approach of leadership in directing movies. One should appreciate his philosophy-to never put imitations on oneself as others will tend to do that for you and take risks and don’t think that failure is not an option because it has to be in order for their to be imagination. Finally he says, “Failure is an option, but fear is not.”

In concluding, James Cameron has inspired me in the entertainment industry as he is not only a very well respected director in Hollywood, but has many hobbies that he brings into his love of movie making. Thus, he brings in his passion and imaginations to life on the big movie screen so that the audience may see this advanced technology and vision. As well, I admire and respect his philosophy about succeeding and adore his curiosity of nature and his amazing imagination.

Motion Picture of Assoc. of America and Campaign on Public Awareness

The Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), is a professional association that is very interesting, and awesome. This association began in 1922, by the presidents of major motion studios-Samuel Goldwyn, Louis B. Mayor, Jesse Lasky, and Joseph Schenck. Their goal was to form an association to resist the demand for government censorship of films, and to provide a better image for the film industry while protecting the silent films in mainstream America. Thus, this first association was called,"Motion Picture Producers and Distributors Assoc. of America before it became to be known as MPAA. Thus, this Association was led by General William Hays to create what is known as the, "Hays Code." This code protected the public from never seeing offensive material, as the Hays Code was enacted by the studios for self censorship-there was a review of all manuscripts to ensure of the viewing safety for the public. However, in 1960 there was major change bringing a new revision to the Hays Code so that film makers would be given freedom to their artistic creations. The new system flourished in 1966, by Jack Valenti, who was named the next president to the now MPAA.
This new system consisted of a voluntary rating system, it protected filmmakers so that they could create what they liked and also, protected the minors because their parents could be the judge of what their kids watched. Today, the MPAA is represented under the leadership of CEO Chris Dodd, who is dealing with the positiveness or this digital age, but also the drawbacks such as copyright theft.

The program that that MPAA, enacted is the "Public Awareness Campaign," -this has a major influence on the entertainment industry as it is a program to combat piracy. Piracy is the act of film theft and can be done on all levels as witnessed from some bootlegged videos of people recording with personal video cams in movie theaters to later sell on the internet. It is wonderful to see that MPAA is taking such a strong stance in trying to protect artists and their creations from being exploited. Therefore, please when you witness piracy report it, it saves all the artists as they should be the only ones with the exclusive rights to sell or license their works, and not the thieves.

WORLD ROBOT BOXING

Dreamworks has done it again to soon release its latest creation, REAL STEEL!

Director, Shawn Levy plans to release the movie November 2011. The birthplace of robot boxing is the Korma Club in Tokyo, Japan in the Alchihabara district. This movie is highly futuristic sci-fi movie, and has a real boxing legend Sugar Ray Leonard as a boxing trainer. Although, this looks similar, at first glance to transformers, it will be a new take on how boxing can be integrated into a huge robot machine. This movie will hopefully be another successful film produced by DreamWorks Studios. It's amazing that there has been already eight decades of family entertainment made by Disney Studios.

Walter Elias Disney and his brother, Roy first produced the Alice Comedies, animated films, in 1923 while at Holly-Vermont realty in L.A. However, after the success they moved to Hyperion Studios and named it Disney Bros. Studios-Mickey Mouse was invented 1928 and soon after followed the rest of the bunch, Pluto, Goofy, and Donald Duck.

In 1937, the first full length animated feature film was released-Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Thus, this provided the Disney Bros. Studio the capital to purchase the 51 acres of land in Burbank in 1940. The success came easy to Walt Disney as one famous cartoonist, David Low referred to Walt, "As the most significant figure since Leonardo." (Walt Disney archives) The success of animation gave rise to Disney venturing into T.V. programs and live action features. Disney Studios is a worldwide known and respected and is categorized as family entertainment. As well, Walt was remarkable as he had an amazing vision and took the studios far beyond what anyone could have imagined.

DreamWorks & Movie-War Horse

        Director, Steven Spielberg is on a new mission making another incredible movie to add to his hits of awards winning movie titles. War Horse is projected to be released and in theaters January 13, 2012. This movie is set in the World War I era, and is a story about the love between a boy and his horse. Albert, the boy, goes on a mission to save his horse, Joey, after his father sells the horse to the British Calvary. Thus, this movie is bound to strike the audiences many emotions throughout the movie as it sounds very thought-provoking and heart felt.
Steven Spielberg, is the director of many films produced and made by Dreamworks- A Hollywood Studios motion picture company. Dreamworks was founded in 1994 by Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg, and David Geffen to produce, develops, and distributes films, video games, and television programming.    However, in 2005 the company was sold to Viacom, Paramount pictures, and again in 2008 to India's Reliance Group ADA for 1.5 Billion. Thus, 50% of Dreamworks distribution is owned by Reliance and led by Anil Ambani. Therefore, the Dreamworks partners include Steven Spielberg, Stacey Snider, and Anai Dhirubhai Ambani Group. Also, Dreamworks has a worldwide distribution deal with Walt Disney who markets and distributes their films.

       Dreamworks, has been incredibly successful as in their movie releases, after 2000, brought in over 2 billion dollars worldwide at the box office. Therefore, this movie company has proven to be extremely successful and is a major competitor among the other movie studios. Dreamworks has an interesting crew of people that runs and organizes the company- all the employees are very talented and experienced within the film industry.
