There's things I wish I were better than,

Cause mentally there's places I wish I never went

which destroyed the path of positivity to places I never been.

So essentially I can’t be a better man.

But I hope I can,

cause Practice makes Perfect...

Or so I heard.

There's people I wish I never met,

Then get upset, because I refuse to be filled with regret,

So I jest just to mask these feelings I ingest,

But rejecting their life so easily got me feelin' dead,

But I do it best,

cause Practice Makes Perfect...

Or so I heard.

There's feelings I wish I never felt, that I’ve dealt wit,

So now I try to numb myself, this hasn't helped it,

My golden ages on the shelf, I should smelt it,

Then try to infuse it with personal wealth, I delve in,

And keep attempting to weld it,

cause Practice Makes Perfect...

Or so I heard.

There's poems I wish I never wrote,

The inner me's an enemy hibernating til I bear my soul,

And Solely for this reason I let go and bare my all,

Cause accepting flaws I was born wit helps me feel in control,

and that's the goal,

cause Practice makes Perfect.

Love Jones starring Nia Long and Larenz Tate is a beautiful movie. It's not the typical chick flick, but it's still romantic. This scene comes from a spoken word perfumed by Larenz's character that's about Nia's character. In this movie the two go through the emotional roller coaster of dating, breaking up, then getting back together. If you have not scene the movie, then I hope that you can someday. It's the epitome of grown and sexy.

My emotions are eternally tied to your persona like the webs of a spider,

barely visible and yet strong like steel cables.

The rate of your breath is the beat of my pulse, and yet I keep trying to break away from you,

but you are a habit that I come back to.

When we are apart I’m short of breath, but your presence causes me stress.

I work for you; bend over backwards for you.

The stare of your eyes is like the whip on the backs of the Hebrew in the hands of Pharaoh's men.

The weariness of my spirit quietly sings, “Let my people go.”

but the next phrase turns into Tank’s “Please Don’t Go”.

I know you’re no good for me.

You have this tight grip on me.

Nothing you do shows signs of reciprocity, but yet you give me enough to keep me within arms reach.

My hands are tied, my feet are shackled, and as long as you have this hold on me,

It takes real thought and talent to express so much while saying so little. Usually Alonzo's video are commentary on certain topics, but I feel like this video is a work of art. "Side effects before the Epiphany" can only be felt if you have been there. If you have not had a broken heart, or a major disappointed that has effected you in a major way, then this may go over your head.

What were you thinking?

Were you even thinking that night that you so passionately kissed her?

Over time she had started feeling as though you two had became closer spiritually especially that night that you took over her physically.

It's bad enough that you had already taken control over her mentally,

but I guess you wanted to have your cake and eat it too.

And to think that she confided in you.

She paused her life for you.

Maybe even missed out on a potential husband for you, but do you care?

You so carelessly made it seem like there may be a future for you and her.

Conversations suggested that you two may even be together.

She can't deny the times that you made her feel like a virgin by making love to her.

Your spirits seemed to have intertwined as the deceptions became even clearer,

But denial of the reciprocity didn't want her to feel like a quitter.

So now on your hands you have a girl with a broken heart,

I’m not sure if you can see it clearly above but do you notice something about the 26 used and abused pencils? Yeah, those are all the letters of the alphabet whittled into the lead of these pencil nubs. Dalton Ghetti, a 49 year old carpenter, has been using Graphite and wood as his Artistic Medium since a young school boy and hasn’t stopped. His work has been on display at New Britain Museum of American Art in Connecticut over the summer and his work is pretty Amazing from engraved Hearts to full Elvis sculptures Sculpture. Take a look below at a few pieces of his work.

The say time heals all wounds -

yet I'm still here bleeding -
patiently waiting.
This battle with myself is suffocating;
I'm choking on my own words while drowning in my own thoughts.
True strength is not deemed by the pounds one can hold ...
but by the courage of a smile guarding a blanket of fear - ready to unfold.
Nothing sincerely seems real when your harboring fear;
you've let go of the situation,
the person,
and what you thought was the pain;
yet the source of the leaking drain -
is the fear that still remains.
That fear of history repeating itself -
of getting the same cards you've already been dealt.
That annoying "intuition" that "he's just another typical guy,"
when YOU KNOW damn well deep inside...
he's THE ONE you can't live without by your side.
That chest clenching feeling when he's coming home late ...
IS the feeling he's cheating -
caused by the last guy you used to date.
You can call it lack of self confidence
call it my "girlish pride"
But the truth of the matter is, it's all based on the fear -
that I see "forever" in what you've deemed as "just a ride"
If only you knew the pain I've already endured -
If only I realized sooner the damage that pain has really caused.
Would we meet right back on that eye-to-eye level?
Or would it all still be so dramatically disheveled?
I apologize to you from the very deepest of my heart
that I let one simple mistake of yours make my roller coaster of fear start.
This was "our" coaster - so to speak -

What is an Emcee?

First off I'd Like to thank my Home girl @lilygv for Posting this on my Facebook wall from a Def Poetry Jam episode. She knows me All To Well to know I'd LOVE this piece.

I'm sure we all have received, and gotten annoyed with the Spam Rap Artist along with the Self Proclaimed "Emcees." Those that had the Luxury of hearing True Hip Hop in its prime probably know the difference between a Rapper and an Emcee, but its clear that most don't.

The first thing people should learn is Being able to rhyme words together makes you slighter more Skilled than Dr. Seuss... actually he is probably still better because he tells stories. Before calling yourself an Emcee, know where it came from and the responsibilities it encompasses. An Emcee, which derives from Master of Ceremonies (MC), meaning you have to be able to Host a movement, not just be a part of it, you must be able to get the crowd interested in what your about to entertain them with, not just Shuck and Jive for whatever trend will get you most notoriety.

An Emcee is a Lyrical Renaissance man, capable of getting the crowd hyped, making people laugh, and most importantly EDUCATE the listener or at least getting them to think about whatever Topic you choose to speak on. If you are not this and simply in music for a buck... than you are NOT, and will NOT ever be an Emcee in HipHop.

HipHop is a way of life, not a Prostitute. Stop raping it for Profits.
