Random Post: Top 5 Favorite Movies

Who wouldn't have their all-time favorite movie? I bet everyone has, including me. It can be of different genre like comedy, drama, action, horror, suspense and a lot more. In my case, I have too many favorite movies on my lists and to that, I prefer to share my TOP 5 favorite movies starting with:

# 5: Rush Hour 1-3

I love the perfect tandem of Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan on this Rush Hour Trilogy. I am not so into watching action movies like fighting criminals, arresting mobs etc,etc,etc.. but this one is an exemption, and I can guarantee you a 100% laugh trip all the way. I really idolize Jackie for doing his own stunts. Two thumbs up for that!

# 4: Praybeyt Benjamin

I am fond of watching comedy movies, and this I swear is a super funny to the highest level. I know I'm a bit exaggerated, but this makes me laugh so hard 'till my tummy aches. I love Vice Ganda, his being a comedian is natural and I can say inborn as well. I recommend you to watch this if in case you still haven't seen the movie.

# 3: Hachiko: A Dog's Tale
This made me cry so hard broke my heart into pieces. I am an animal lover especially to dogs, and this story proves that dogs are indeed man's best friend. A story of loyalty, friendship and love circles this movie. A great movie to all animal lovers out there and a great story that tells us if everything else fails we don't know who will be there for us. No one knows, it can be our family, friends or even our pets.

# 2: A Walk to Remember
Who can forget Landon Carter and Jamie Sullivan played by Shane West and Mandy Moore? An epic love story about miracle, relationship, and fate. A naughty guy falls for someone who is not the type of girl a campus celebrity would like. But in the twist of fate and power of love, a new love story begun. Love really moves in mysterious way.

# 1: Pursuit of Happyness
This inspiring, motivating, true to life story, impart a big impact in my life. I have seen in this movie the twist and turns of life. It tells us never to give up in times of crisis and difficulties in our daily existence, and face this trials as challenges to hone us for the better. With perseverance and hard work hand-in-hand, our goals in life is just one step within our reach.
I recommend this movie to you guys for people who think of giving up is the only solution to their problem. A really, really, really great movie!

Learn from your mistakes

I'm going to share to you guys my experience with a wallet lifter. It really saddens me that the money she/he got is not mine. The money is from my father which he earned by working so hard to sustain our daily survival. And with just a split of seconds it was gone.

I know I haven't been vigilant enough to secure my bag knowing that I am carrying a sufficient amount of money supposedly to be deposited in the bank. This afternoon, while I was riding a jeepney on my way to Banco de Oro. I am sitted near the entrance of the jeepney with a female on my left and an old man on my right. I am pretty sure, that when I draw out two 5 peso coin from my wallet I zipped up my bag again.

By the way, the jeepney is somewhat similar to the photo above. Furthermore, I arrived at my destination, paid my fare, stepped out of the jeepney. I didn't even bother turning my head just to see if I left something or not. I just rushed to the bank and fill out the deposit slip form and handed it to the teller. And that is the moment of truth that shaked my world. My wallet is gone with the money, usb, key chain which happens to be a pasalubong from a friend and water bill.

I really don't know what to do. It's like I'm going insane. I wanted to shout, cry, go on hysterical, run after the jeepney. But what else can I do? The criminal is no where to be found. And I even don't know who made the criminal act. Is is the lady on my left or the old man on right? I really don't know. That's how my experience with a wallet lifter. That is how fast their hands are in mugging their victims. Even with a number of people, they can really do their act.

Lessons learned:

1. Always, always, always stay alert on your surroundings especially when you are in a crowded place or surrounded by a lot of people.

2. Secure stuffs attentively. Notice unusual behavior around you.

3. Don't put important belongings like wallet, cellphones, digi cams etc.. on the shallow part of your bag. If possible, cover it or overlap the not so eye magnet things to snatchers like umbrella, notebooks, pens.

4. If it comes to worse, like she/he has bladed/deadly weapon, or maybe he has an acquaintance with him. DON'T risk your life for money. Just give the items to them.

Cooking 101: How to make an Egg Sandwich

Today, I decided to post about how to make an egg sandwich in 3 simple and easy steps. All you have to do is gather all the necessary ingredients needed.

Ingredients are as follows:

1. Eggs - this should be hard boiled,but be sure not to over cook the eggs.

2. Mayonnaise

3. Condensed Milk

4. Pepper

Steps:

I: Slice/Mash the eggs (depends on what you prefer) on a clean container.

II: Add the mayonnaise and condensed. The amount of mayo and condensed depends on your taste. In my case, I put 2 tbsp of mayo and 2 tbsp of condensed.

III: Lastly, add the pepper for additional flavoring.

You can also add salt you like it to be a bit salty.

And don't forget the bread, the egg sandwich spread wouldn't be complete without it.

And there you have it. Egg Sandwich.

Quick Post: A Day on the Beach

Aloha readers,

For me, a way to relax, bond with family and take a quiet place to lighten up the stress attached from work is by going to the beach. The sound of the waves and the calmness of the sea is so soothing in the eyes and ears. A family friend of ours invited us to join them and celebrate the birthday of their daughter, it sounds really fun so without hesitations, we agreed to join them.

Birthday Jamboree

According to Mr. Google and Ms. Wikipedia: A birthday is a day when a person celebrates his or her date of birth. Birthdays are celebrated in numerous cultures, often with a gift, party or rite of passage.

Today is my Mom's birthday. We invited our closest relatives and had a simple gathering or salu-salo. I am in-charge in cooking, so I decided to cook hassle free foods like spaghetti which I know is very generic in birthday occasions as well as fried chicken and cake. I voluntarily present my self to bake a cake for my mom. I know I'm not that "pro" in baking but at least I tried besides effort do count and I know that my cake is not that bad at all. *wink*

Spaghetti:

A little information about our belief is that during birthdays pasta recipes or noodle recipes are not forgotten in one's menu. It is said that preparing noodles or pastas give you longer life span. It's not scientifically proven though, but still a lot of people believe in this, not only because of the belief but because it is also economical especially to people who are on a tight budget.

Fried Chicken:

I can say that fried chicken is always on the top menu. I don't know why, but every time I attend special occasions fried chickens are always present. May be because it is easier to cook than any other chicken recipes available.

Last but not the least, Cake:

Cakes are hallmarks in every birthday celebration or even not in birthdays, it is seen in all events like weddings, christening, anniversary, monthsary and graduation. Indeed, cakes play a special role in different accomplishments in our lives.

Ambivalent

Hi readers,

As far as the days pass by, the grieving process of losing something much important to you is getting tighter and tighter. The feeling is suffocating which in the end of the day I don't know where to start or to move on.

I'll be sharing to you guys my traumatic experience with my precious Scooby (basset hound) from the first day of his ill health until the time he gasp his last breath.

By the way, this was the last pic I took on him while he was resting on his favorite chair.

September 11,2012:
We took Scooby to the Vet to seek medical attention about the condition of Scooby. He is not that weak, may be 10-20% weak compared to his usual vitality. He's eating well and playing with his other playmates Coco (dachshund) and Choco (Mongrel). But I can feel that there is something wrong and I just can't figure it out. So the Vet said that it is only colds (viral) and a slight fever that caused the slight weakness on Scooby. It relieves me knowing that it will cure on its own and with the help of Antibiotics + Vit. C and also the Broncure which helps strengthening the lungs and Paracetamol for the fever, I am really positive he'll be returning to his normal state.

September 16,2012:
With the continuous Antibiotic therapy and Vitamin Treatment I've noticed that Scooby is dyspneic - having difficulty of breathing. I am so worried about him, the saddest part is that, it's Sunday so no Veterinary Clinic is open. I still continue the prescribed medications on him. And monitored him time to time.

September 18-19,2012:
He's doing ok, so I thought that he'll be going well.

September 21, 2012:
We returned to the Vet to check up on him because dyspnea is still present after a week of Antibiotics and Broncure Therapy. The doctor only look at him without even checking or taking his vital signs. She already prescribed Prednisone for relieving the dyspnea and instructed to continue Broncure. I also told her that I wish to confine Scooby so that she can monitor Scooby's situation but she refused to do so. Telling me that confining scooby would worsen the condition.

September 22, 2012:
At around 7:00 PM scooby had a seizure, he's in pain. He is crying and whining. We were shocked, paranoid and helpless. We wanted to rush scooby to the vet, unfortunately the vet is close. And the weather is not cooperating with us. We waited for 12 hours for us to be able to bring scooby and be seen by another vet.

September 23,2012:
Scooby is hooked in an Intravenous Fluid to replenish his cells and gave him Antibiotics, B-Complex, and Pain reliever. The vet said that I should take Scooby home for one night and return him the following day for confinement. The vet performed CBC (Complete Blood Count) as well as checked if there is heart worm present, luckily, the test is negative for heart worm and the CBC is normal.

September 24, 2012:

We returned to the vet for the confinement and left him there. We visited him at around 3:30 PM, the doctor is still out, the assistant said that the doctor would probably be in at around 5-5:30 PM. So we waited and checked up on him from time to time.
I talked to the vet and he was diagnosed of Canine Distemper which I know is really fatal in dogs. My heart shred into pieces and she said that some owners especially breeders chose euthanasia to alleviate of prolonging the pain and suffering of the dogs. In that case, I didn't choose euthanasia because I am really positive that he will get better. I've research about Canine Distemper and I have read a lot of positive stories about pets getting better in Distemper. The vet respected our decision and still explained that we should be ready in case my precious scooby can't make it. We left him again for another night.

September 25, 2012

We visited scooby again at around 10:00 AM. He is excited to see us, he wants to sit but he is weak to do so, so I helped him up and caress his body so that he can feel me. I asked boyfie to buy Pan de Sal (bread) because that is scooby's favorite food. In time when boyfie returned, scooby looked at us and lie down then started to tremble, he had his last vomit and poop. I don't know what I am feeling this day, it's as if my whole world turned upside down. I know I am not ready to let scooby go, and still up to this day.

Scooby is part of our family already, he is like a son to my mom and dad. He fills joy in our everyday routine especially when he do his extreme tricks. We really miss him. I really miss him. I know that he is in good hands now, free of pain, sickness and a place full of love. I love you so much Scooby.

NOTD: I L♥VE Y♥U

Hell-oohh readers!

Finally, today is an official day off from review. I'm so excited to share with you guys my NOTD. This nail art is supposed to be posted last thursday. Unfortunately, I got an emergency errand and forgot about updating my blog. Nevertheless, I can already share it with you.
Wo ai ni in Chinese, Je t'aime in French and Mahal Kita in Pilipino. Though Valentine's Day is way too far from today I decided to make a nail art related to Love. Love is not only celebrated in Valentine's Day but we can celebrate it everyday.

Let me carve up the materials used:

1.) Another Victoria's Secret product I used is the Very Sexy Cocktail Nail Lacquer.

It's really indeed one of a very sexy color for me. It's not that dark nor light. And the quality is worth the price.

2.) Blue Enamel Nail Art for the letterings and picture.

Another purchase over the net for nail art objective.

3.) Lastly, the transparent nail lacquer for the glossy effect.

Taadaaa!

NOTD: Pink and Black Stripes

As promised, I'll share to you guys my nail art of the day. Luckily, today is our rest day before the review proper starts so I was able to make my NOTD. Pink and black stripes is my motif of the day. I am fond of collecting stripes items. I have stripes shirt, stripes pants, stripes bracelets and lots and lots of stripes items.

For the materials used:

I used Victoria's Secret Explosive Nail Lacquer as my primary coat.

So far, the only nail product I use is Victoria's very sexy nail lacquer. Victoria really produces good quality of stuff and this lacquer dries up easily so it's trouble-free when it comes to designing.

Secondly, I used this enamel nail art pen to help me with the stripes design.

I bought this over the internet which I think is very economical. It only cost me less than a dollar. And it's a two-way use too. You can use it as a pen and also as a brush. Incredible isn't it?

Lastly, the transparent nail lacquer to make the final design glossy.

And for the final output, my pink and black stripes.

Rainy rain rain

Rainy season is nothing new in the Philippines and weather update is one we look forward to in news report. And I know that it's really hard to plan an outfit when the weather is eventually not in the mood. Actually it's raining today so I decided to create another set on polyvore on what I wanted to wear on a rainy day. I love coats and I usually purchase and wear coats even if it's not raining same with shoes I also love slip on shoes it's very comfortable and easy to wear.

Another thing I love to wear during rainy season is the crossbody bag or sling bag. It's really not a hassle having sling bag on a rainy day. You can carry the things you want without having a load. And lastly, the most important to all, Umbrellas. The outfit wouldn't be complete if you don't have umbrellas with you. Unless you like to welcome colds with open arms. Dream Wedding

Hello bloggers!

I am so lucky today that my IELTS review will start on the 28th so I have time to fully update my blog. So for that I have a random post about my dream wedding. Yes! You heard it right, my Dream Wedding. Every girl I know and met have this dream wedding that they utterly wait. And I know that this is the last day that every girl will be unattached to their parents, a time to go on its own and live a life as a grown up and build their future family too. Nevertheless, when I was blog hopping I saw this website which you can create your own fashion style. I am not so into fashion but this thing caught my attention. Polyvore is the site that I'm interested at and I'm kinda addicted in creating and mix-matching clothes that I thought is comfortable for me. So I decided to create my first set which is my Wedding Dress.

Full of Bustle

Due to busy schedule I wasn't able to update my blog. So now I'll be doing a fast update about my activities this past few days.

1.) I had my Basic Life Support Training which is needed especially to my profession and likewise to ordinary people which is a big help in case of emergency situation. I have a good instructor and I can say that it's worth it - the effort, time and also money. I had so many things learned from her different emergency experiences, from funny scene to traumatic one. So much talk about my training let's go to the next.

2.) I enrolled in IELTS Review, not only to broaden my english vocabulary, enhance my grammar but also one of the requirements for applying employment abroad. So I expect that my whole 2-3 months will be so busy, so maybe I'll have a hard time updating my blog. Hopefully I can pass this whole process of reading, writing, listening as well as speaking. *cross fingers* lastly,

3.) Boyfie and I had a night out date to cope up with our busy rota. So we decided to have some coffee at our favorite spot. We hardly go out on a date because we prepare so much for our employment and go home tired and exhausted.

Luckily, only few customer dined in so we had the chance to pick our most comfortable place and this quote caught my attention which is placed on our table. I remember the time when I used to put love quotes in boyfie's wallet or pocket to surprise him every time he opens his wallet or check his pocket.

I had a sip of my favorite chococcino.

Though we had a tiring day/s still we were able to enjoy eachother's company alone.

Pizza Madness

Hey,hey,hey readers!

I just want to share to you guys about our Home made pizza pie recipe. It was not my idea to do home made pizza but because it's boyfie's favorite I chose to do it. Anyway, we don't have the exact ingredients, taste or even the size of any commercial pizzas downtown but we tried on our own taste. I want to share to you how we do our home made pizza and honestly all the ingredients are instant - instant buy to the grocery. hahaha

Materials:

1. Pizza dough - bought it to one of the bakery downtown. Luckily, it's still available.

2. Pizza Sauce - it's also available to one of the grocery store downtown.

3. Cheese - we didn't buy mozarella or any other cheese that local pizza store use. Instead we prefer the cheaper cheese.

4. Ground beef - sauté it with chopped onions. Any onions will do,it can be red or the white/yellow one. Then wait till it turns brown.

5. Hotdog - instead of ham or pepperoni we used hotdog as an alternative. Any size or shape will do, it depends to what you prefer.

6.Bell pepper - to add flavoring and also aroma to your pizza. You can also add mushroom, olives, and even pineapples if you like. But I prefer to use bell pepper and it's affordable as well. :)

7. White onions

Steps:

1. Spread the pizza sauce on the dough. Boyfie is doing it for me so I thought I might as well took a picture of him doing it since it's his favorite food.

2. Grate the cheese and spread it on top of the pizza sauce

3. Add the ground beef. If you love to have an overload of beef. You can also do it. In here I only use 1/4 kl of ground beef.

4. Add the hotdogs.

5. Add the bell peppers. Sizes of bell peppers depends on how you like it. It can be on strips, cubes etc.

6. Add the onions and slice it like a shape of a ring.

7. Lastly, grate cheese on top for final brush up. :) And taadaa there you have it ready to be baked.

8. Preheat oven 160-170 degrees and wait till turns brown.

Celebrating Coco's 2nd Birthday

Hi-ya all!

I've been neglecting this blog for quite sometime. I've been busy doing important things and wasn't able to update regularly. One thing I've done this past few days is preparing for the birthday of my pet Coco. I bought him from a friend and he's only 3 months old during that time. He's so cute and so tiny. Anyway, mind as well share with you some pics from Coco's Birthday :)

FOTD - Fruit of the Day

Hello readers,

Today, I've decided to post something health-ful.. :) I wanted to share to you guys about my Fruit of the Day.

Tambis or watery red apple as to what they call it. It is commonly found in southeast asia. If you're wondering why it is called watery red apple, it's because if you eat it, it's so juicy/watery. It's about 3-4 cm wide and children love this fruit.

According to research, it is said to be rich in Vitamin C, protein, iron, fiber and calcium and it doesn't contain any sugar and saturated fat.

For that, my mom decided to plant Tambis in our backyard.

Happy Mother's Day to all mothers out there! :)

This is not just an ordinary "sunday" or day for us. It is a day that we pay special tribute to mothers who had always been with us through thick and thin. A mother who listens, give advices, a shoulder to cry on, supportive, mothers are indeed all in one package. I can say that I am lucky to have a mother that is always there for me in times of troubles and failure, always giving me inspirational messages and motivation to pursue life as it is.

As we celebrate Mother's Day, I decided to bake a cake for my mom as a simple token of appreciation and Thank You for all the sacrifices she made from us, and giving us the patience and our everyday needs.

So to you Mom, Happy happy Mother's Day. We Love You from the bottom of our hearts..♥

2012 Vacation

Mabuhay! Everyone,

After how many months of not updating my not-so-updated blog. I have something to share with you guys. My first vacation this year! yahoo!!

It's not a "planned" vacation though. It's a rush and luckily it ended up so great! I want to spoil you a little bit about our vacation escapade. It's about 334.69 km by land. We decided to do it on a land trip for a cheaper expenses.

DAY 1: APRIL 4

Here's a view on our way to Cagayan de Oro. It's overlooking a farm and sea. I can smell fresh air and though it's past noon the wind is cool.

It somehow feels relaxing seeing this kind of scenery after a hard day from the city. It's stress-releasing feeling. Another thing, while on our way to CDO, I noticed this, it is somewhere in Lanao del Norte. The trisikad, padyak, or pedicab as known here in the philippines, cycle rickshaw as known in other countries. It is a bicycle attached to a side car. The peculiar thing about this pedicab, unlike in our city, the wheel of this pedicab is bigger than the normal and also the handle bar grip (if that's what they call it) is higher than an average type of pedicab. I find this thing unusual. Before I forget, not only the passenger has this "roof" covering thing-y as well as the driver has its umbrella. Filipinos are indeed "resourceful".

After hours and hours of travel, we finally arrived at our first destination. El Salvador as what they call it. A brief information about El Salvador. El Salvador is a city in Misamis Oriental, in the island of Mindanao, southern part of the Philippines. The city serves as the pilgrimage of ground for the devotees of Divine Mercy. That is why it is called El Salvador or the "City of Saviour".

The Sacred Divine Mercy, I am a devotee of it too. From the upper right, you can see people falling in line going to the heart of the Divine Mercy. It is a sacred place so better wear proper attire. :)

From the divine mercy we are now heading to Cagayan de Oro, we arrived at around 7:00 P.M., had our dinner and hit the sack for tomorrow is a long way adventure waiting for us.

DAY 2: APRIL 5

Our next station is Bukidnon, we really want to experience the thrill of riding the longest zip line in the Philippines. It is said to be about 840m long. Unfortunately, we don't have the privilege to experience the thrill because of too many tourists including us and the people living nearby are there spending their holy week too. We were also running after the time cause all of the hotels and cottages in Dahilayan are fully booked until the 8th of April. So we decided to purchase other rides and enjoy the remaining hours left before going back to CDO.

At last we arrived safely! Hello Adventure! :)

Upon arrival, we immediately inquire for any available rooms to stay, unfortunately all rooms are occupied and we don't have any choice but to return to CDO to spend for the night. Ate our lunch which cost us about 800+ php, and it cost too much for a 2 sticks of barbecue, a cup of rice and a soda in can.

This first ride is called Zorbit, may be they got this idea from zorbing which means "the activity of travelling downhill inside a large air-cushioned hollow ball." (reference from: dictionary.reference.com/browse/zorbing ).
All I can say is better try this so you won't miss the fun! This cost 250php per pax.

SECOND RIDE:

Horse back riding :) This cost 100php per passenger for 1 km ride.

LAST RIDE:
This our last and final ride before we decided to leave. For sure boys love and is going to have fun on this. It cost 800php per buggy ride which means 400php per pax for 3.1 kms ride.

And our 2nd day adventure ended so great. This was all my first time to ride in a Zorbit, horse and even buggy which makes my vacation extraordinary. We left Bukidnon around 4:30 P.M. and arrived at CDO around 6:00 P.M. What a tiring day! :)

DAY 3: APRIL 6

We decided to go to church to complete the 14 Station of the Cross, after which we took our lunch and decided to head back in our hotel. We had our siesta and at around 3:00 P.M. we decided to make the last few days of our vacation worth it. So, we went to Jatico Adventure which is 30 minutes away from our vicinity. On our way to Jatico, we passed by a cave. So out of curiosity, we decided to drop by and see what we can experience.

Ended up around 5:00 P.M. Another tiring day, we ate our dinner at McDonald's, hit the sack early.

DAY 4: APRIL 7

This is the last day of our vacation so we ended up shopping for pasalubongs. If you have read my previous entries you'll know what pasalubongs are. Anyway, we went to SM and Limketkai and ended up frustrated. We haven't bought any pasalubong except for my sister. She bought some imported chocolates for her friends. Due to our frustrations, we went to this factory of pastel and bought 4 boxes of pastel, choco polvoron and roasted peanut as an alternative pasalubong. We also met some of our fellow Zamboangueños who also bought pasalubongs for their friends and love ones.

DAY 5: APRIL 8

We left our hotel around 5:30 A.M. and decided to pass by Ma. Cristina Falls at Iligan City, which is remarkably the supplier of our electricity. Sadly, we arrived at 8A.M. and the gate opens at 9 A.M. so we ended up at Tinago Falls also in Iligan City, which I can say is I'll probably be going back here. It's such a paradise.

So that ends my 5-days vacation/adventure in Cagayan de Oro, Bukidnon and Iligan City. All I can say is that IT'S MORE FUN IN THE PHILIPPINES! :)

Celebrating Chinese New Year

新年快樂 - Xin Nian Kuai Le everybody! means Happy New Year in chinese.

It's been so long since I last updated my blog. I've been busy with work stuffs as well as household stuffs. So anyway, today is Chinese New Year, we seldom celebrate chinese new year but this year we thought to have a simple, small gathering and prepared some dishes that are "said to be" LUCKY FOODS for this year. I would like to share to you the simple foods we prepared for the occasion.

Basset Hound - Scooby

Hi-ya fellow bloggers and readers!

Another post about my pets. Please meet my Scooby, he's a basset hound. You know what I like most about basset hound? It's their LONG EARS not only that, their physical features as well. Anyway, basset hounds are born stubborn and I experienced it myself. It's hard to train them honestly! especially how to poo and pee outside our house. It's really a trial and a test of my patience about basset hound. Actually, when I bought scooby, I don't know anything about basset hound, their attitudes or whatever characteristics they have. I'm just fond of collecting hush puppies which tend to be a basset hound, that's why I bought him. A little information about basset hound which might help you know what they really are.

Basset hound are a short-legged breed of dog (same with my previous entry about dachshund), they are part of a hound family. Basset hounds are known for their long ears and droopy eyes ( I can say that it's their asset :D ). They are gentle, friendly and an excellent companion for children. The interesting part about basset hounds is they snore, yes! basset hound do SNORE!. Not only that, they love to sleep. After I feed scooby, he'll immediately lie down on his couch and sleep. I find it funny actually. If only you can see how he does it, it's really funny and I Love it! Basset hounds are also bred to haunt, with their keen nose suited for a little game called Hunting. That's all I can say about basset and about my experienced on them. It's not hard to love them. They're extremely funny for sure! :)

Chocolate is L♥VE

Just another usual day for me. It's quite a hot weather and it's good to drink iced chocolate or chocolate shake. Num,num! Speaking of chocolates, my Grandma gave me some of favorite chocolates as her "pasalubong". Pasalubong in filipino, is a home coming gift. One gives pasalubong when he/she just came back from a vacation or abroad. Going back to the topic, I eat chocolates because of pleasure, who doesn't love chocolates anyway? It has an aphrodisiac effect that is more intense than passionate kissing, a chocolate melting in your mouth produced an increase in brain activity and increase in heart rate. On the contrary, too much intake of Chocolates can cause certain illness such as Diabetes. Too much or too little is harmful in our body. So average amount of intake is good.

Cooking 101 - Sinigang na Isda ( Fish Stew in Tamarind Broth )

I am assigned to cook for our dinner today and I cooked Fish stew - Sinigang na Isda in Filipino. I am not an expert cook though, luckily it turned out right.

Here are the simple steps on how to cook Fish Stew:

Gather all the necessary ingredients such as the following:


Upper left: Tomato, Upper right: Onions, Lower Center: Ginger

Don't forget the veggies!

Pechay ( Water Cabbage )

You can also use other green leafy vegetables like Mustard leaves, Radish, Talbos ng Kamote (Camote Tops), Kang-kong (Swamp Cabbage or River Spinach). I prefer the pechay cause it's my favorite.. :)

Don't forget the main ingredient, fish. You can use different kind of fish like bangus (milk fish), tilapia or lapu-lapu . In here, I use talakitok (cavalla fish or big eye trevally fish), this kind of fish is best prepared for soups and also for frying.

And lastly, the seasonings like Salt, Monosodium Glutamate, Granulated seasoning ( if ever you're using one) and Sampalok ( Tamarind) Mix .

2. Prepare a casserole or pot, fill in with water about half ( depends on you) including the tomatoes, onions and ginger simmer under medium heat. Wait until it boils.

3. When the water boils, add the fish and season it with salt, pepper, granulated seasoning ( if ever you're using one) and the tamarind mix simmer under medium heat. Wait until it boils.

4. After that add the vegetables simmer for 2-3 minutes under low heat until vegetables and fish are cooked.

Then remove from heat and transfer to a serving bowl. There you have it, Sinigang na Isda. Best served when hot.

Merienda for the Day

Mabuhay Everyone!

What's Merienda? Merienda, in the philippines is a light meal taken between lunch and dinner. Usually around 2:00 P.M to 4:00 P.M. Filipino people are in the habit of taking merienda everyday. It's as if it's part of their daily routine. To ordinary people like us, we take ordinary meriendas, like ukoy, puto, kutsinta, tsikoy, suman, banana cue, empanada and a lot more, these are filipino native delicacies.

For me, I took pastil and pancit canton, one of the known merienda of filipino people especially in Zamboanga City and also to students who are in a budget. It's made from flour with pancit (filipino noodle cuisine) matched with a chili sauce made from vinegar, garlic,pepper and salt. Pancit Canton, on the other hand is instantly prepared by manufacturing company in the Philippines. Place the instant noodle in a boiling water for 2-3 minutes until tender but firm enough to eat. Then mixed it with the prepared seasonings included in the pack, and mixed it together. Taa daa you already have Pancit Canton.

Fries -Day and Moon Cake

Konnichiwa everyone!

It's just another typical day for me. So I decided to cruise around city proper to console myself of boredom. Walking around downtown is so tiring, so I dropped by to my favorite fast food chain and grab my best-loved fries and coke float :) I know it's kinda weird to pair fries with gravy but it taste so good for me. Piggin' out alone is not that bad, I just enjoy myself and go where my feet wants me to go. I love Mcdonald ever since I was in college, I'm a big fan of Ronald Mcdonald. Yiihhaa! :)

Anyway, another thing. My grandma gave me a Chinese moon cake. It's cute with chinese character on it. Moon cakes are bake during Mid-Autumn Festival or Moon Cake Festival. It is a popular lunar harvest festival celebrated not only by chinese but also vietnamese. This festival is one of the most important festival in Chinese. By the way, my grandma is also chinese. :)

Bonjour everyone,

I'd like you to meet my Dachshund-Coco, I mentioned my coco in my first entry and I want to further more express about what it feels having a dachshund as a pet, and how I groom my pets.

Dachshund are long-bodied, short-legged dog that belongs to the hound family. Dachshunds are hyperactive, fun and Loyal pets. They love to chase small animals and digs holes around our yard. Loyalty is one of the characteristic that I Love most about dachshunds. Though you've been gone for so long they still don't forget who their master/owner is. It feels so stress free every time I go home and see my Coco and other pets waiting, as if I've been gone for so long. Seeing them wag their tails and hear them bark feels like they've been longing to feel my caress and hug.

Dachshunds are prone to spinal injury because of their long spinal cord and short rib cage. This injury are predisposed by the following factor:

obesity - obese dachshund has a higher risk of getting a spinal injury, so better watch out for the diet of your dogs to avoid such disease and pair it with exercise too.

intense exercise - such as jumping

As part of being a responsible owner, I also groom my dachshund. Which is why, I always manage to bathe my pets once or twice a week. I also use products that are hypoallergenic to avoid my pets getting some allergies. I usually use soap to bathe them. I have known few friends who use detergent/laundry soap to their pets, which is a big NO-NO to me. This detergent products might have harsh chemicals that might contribute to your dog's itching.
Sometimes, I also use shampoo with conditioner or shampoo alone. It only not smoothen your pets' hair but soothes their skin, and detangles rummage hair especially for long-haired dogs.
Lastly, I also use tick and flea powder, this powder comes with different scent, which leaves pleasant odor on your dogs.
