Three more Sundays and on the following Sunday we will wake up all exited to celebrate Christmas. Obviously, we are in to the season of Advent already; it is a phase of preparation and waiting for catholic believers who remain in anticipation to welcome the birth of Jesus. Year after year, people live through the season of advent and then Christmas is celebrated.

advent being a time of preparation, expectation n waiting, it is a time lived by all the peoples; Christians or non-Christians, believers or non-believers. We all live through instances of preparation, expectation and waiting in great anticipation in our lives, perhaps on recurring occasions around the year. you minus the religious aspect and the point is driven home clearer. Some instances of waiting can be agonizingly painful while some others can be all exiting and leave you joyful. Even when the wait is long the level of preparation and expectation will never fade or ebb. On the other hand culmination of advent can be horrifying too. Who or what you are waiting decides the swing of balance. It would be amazing to have a Christmassy end to all the advents. But life isnt like that always.

Well, you may be better off by putting off that desire of yours and can wait for a better occasion… but how would you know that wasn’t the right time unless you have committed? You maybe taking a wrong turn, but until you have taken it you wont know it, if there are no sign boards or hoardings…and often in life when we are at the cross roads there hardly are any reliable ones…trust your instincts, listen to your heart and u will hit the jackpot… of course life can ditch you too, but you don’t need to blame anyone…nor do you have to feel bad that you didn’t attempt….

Even as this post being typed up, the final ODI of Dravid’s career is underway in Cardiff, UK. He came to the crease for the last time when the Indian score read 57/2. From there he along with Kohili, did a superb job to bolster Indian innings with a formidable partnership of 170. Dravid is out on 69 bowled by Swan but not before giving a chance to the team India to pull off at least one victory on the English soil on this tour.

Playing his 344^th ODI, he has scored his 83^rd half century. Prior to playing this match Dravid has 10,820 runs in 343 matches (@ 39.06), including 12 centuries and 82 half-centuries.

Playing what was his maiden World Cup, in 1999, Dravid finished the tournament's highest scorer -- aggregating 461 runs in eight matches (@ 65.86), even though India failed to make the last four. In fact, that year happened to be the most fruitful one in his ODI career. He totaled 1761 runs in 43 matches (@ 46.34) and scored six of his 12 career centuries, including a magnificent 154 against New Zealand at Hyderabad -- his highest ODI score.

After being labeled as a player good only for test cricket Dravid played in various positions in the batting line up, kept wickets, opened, batted at number three and five. In February 2007, at Margao, he became one of the few batsmen to surpass the 10,000 ODI runs mark.

He has certainly been the unsung hero of Indian cricket. Well, the record books speak for him.

Don’t you have dreams, plans, wish list and ambitions? We do, all of have had them from early childhood in varying degree and style and diversity. As a 2 year old, as a five year old, as a 15 and 20 years-old and 30 years-old and so on, we all had set a secret wish or target to achieve. Glancing back at them, what do you make of it? How many of us are triumphant, how many of us changed or had to alter the priorities and plans, wishes and needs? Life is like that ha?

But the question could be what about the NOW? Despite being unable to fulfill the dreams we held dear from childhood, if we aren’t happy NOW, that speaks volumes. Is the revision worth it? It is wake up time and high time we asked ourselves whether life is leading us or vice versa.

Life is waiting for each of us to act, inviting us to live fully

Life is so deep to discover fully and exhaust, like the ocean. The magic, beauty, excitement and wonder is deep down. To explore the grandeur we need to dive deep, letting go everything, shedding all the fears. But then, majority of us find contentment at the peripheral level and remain attached to the trivial stuff. They would hardly let us go and we will feel the obligation nudging on us to linger around for them. We don’t even think out of the box when it comes to letting go certain things, principles, ideas, relations in our lives to set trends, tread new trails that many more realize life is not just to be spent and died and vanished one day. How many of us can say we will be remembered say just 25 years – forget about 100 years – after we have kicked the bucket? If we are not sure, we need to ask ourselves what we have done with our lives. Don’t you think it comes easy and ordinary to study, grow up, work, get married, be parent and one day die? If you think that’s all about life, then sure enough, 25 years down the line, even less, you will be untraceable in history.

If life has embraced us, we are indebted to it. Each of us has to strike our deal.

An icy reality

So dreadful a reality is death. Somehow , it gives a chill down our spine. Hardly any of us can think about the raw reality without being overshadowed by fright and angst. We are dead sure that this is a reality that’s looming over our head and will befall us sooner or later just that we have no idea as when and how it will happen.

The interesting aspect is we don’t yet know what it is. What happens after ‘death’? all that we know is we will not be present on this earth. Does that mean we will be absent? Do we worry about the time before our birth? Icy reality ha?

Many a decision taken in life can be awfully wrong and can have boomeranging effect on us. But interestingly, all these decisions wouldn’t be the same or would have rooted in a different soil altogether, had we been born elsewhere, had we been of different height n weight n character so on n so forth, of course it is a question of ifs n buts and absolutely out of our hands, and don’t pull the trigger at random. That’s not the point here. What is intriguing is why such a distinction, disparity! Apart from some decisions that you make, there are a whole lot of things that you have no control over. When others seem to thrive just because they are born in such conditions, you aren’t because for no fault of yours, you are born in a different surrounding! Fascinating ha?

What money brings

haven’t you heard people saying money brings worry, tension, sleeplessness etc? the question however is, have you heard the same from someone who struggles to meet days ends, from someone who desperately ache for more than a square meal for their starving kids? If anyone thinks money is their problem the solution is very simple, distribute all what they have among the poor and be happy. How many can take up the challenge to be happy? If you can’t, you got to accept that money isn’t the cause of tension and anxiety.
