                                                                        The all new Audi A1 is speculated to be coming with a price tag of Rs 18 lakh to Rs 19 lakh which excludes the import duties. Along with it, a special sports model will also be launched. The new car model will come with 1.4 litre engine suffixed with the Audi's S-Tronic seven speed automatic transmission. The 90 kW, 1.4 litre turbocharged fuel stratified injection (TFSI) engine which is capable of generating maximum torque of 200 Nm at 1500 rpm enables the Audi A1 to zoom from 0 to 100 kmph in few blinks of 8.9 seconds accelerating it to a maximum speed of 203 kmph. The stout, masculine car will be affixed with German technology and will come in both diesel and petrol car models. As per the speculations, the compact Audi A1wil be entering the Indian auto market in the last quarter of 2011.

According to reliable sources, Audi will launch Audi A1 with four engines-two TDI diesel and two TFSI petrol. Initially as per the information, the variants would be Audi A1 1.2 TFSI, Audi A1 1.4 TFSI, Audi A1 1.6 TDI and Audi A1 1.6 TDI (another 1.6 variant) or Audi A1 2.0 TDI. All the mills are comprised of turbo-charging and direct fuel injection. The Audi modular efficiency platform matted with downsizing concept ensures superb power and higher fuel economy. The second technology of the system is the start-stop system which switches off the mill when Audi A1 is in standby mode and turns on the engine again as soon as the clutch pedal is operated.

Honda Siel Cars India (HSCI) has launched the newer version of its popular premium sedan segment model Honda Civic with some new exterior features and some interior cosmetic changes. The newer version of Honda Civic is more stylish than its older version and its front look has been enhanced with its stylish grille, fog lamps and sporty headlamps. The all new Honda Civic is available with three variants - Honda Civic S MT with manual transmission gearbox and Honda Civic V MT and V AT which is available with manual and automatic transmission option respectively.
The current Honda Civic, which was first introduced as the 2006 model year, is available now as Honda Civic S MT, Honda Civic V MT and Honda Civic V AT. All the three variants of Honda Civic are powered by a i-VTEC 1.8-litre, 4 cylinder, 16 valve, PGM-Fi petrol engine, which pumps out maximum power of 132 Ps at 3200 rpm and produces a peak torque of 17.5 kgm at 4300 rpm. Honda Civic S MT and V MT variants are mated with a five speed manual gearbox while the top end V AT variant comes coupled with 5 speed automatic transmission with paddle shift. The new Honda Civic has got front ventilated disc and rear disc brakes along with front McPherson Strut and rear double-wishbone type suspension. The car has power steering and tubeless 15 inch alloy wheels as well.

Honda has also introduced two accessories packages Elegance and Inspire with Honda Civic. The new Estilo is a fusion of style and urban-ness that imbues an imposing feel with a luxurious fascia. Estilo comes in four main choices: LX, LXI, VXI and Green LXI. An impressive 1.0-litre K-Series 3 Cylinder fuel-efficient engine discharges up to 64 bhp and 84 Nm of torque. All variants get a 5-speed manual gearbox. Elegant dual-toned interior coupled with a highly proficient cooling system, front and rear seat adjustable head restraints, and a front seat back pocket for added comfort.

The three year old Maruti Suzuki Zen Estilo has been redesigned and the more than a decade old brand name Zen has been pushed into history and renamed as Maruti Suzuki Estilo. The new Maruti Suzuki Estilo has been redesigned to suit the Indian taste.

In a move to make an environment friendly car, Maruti Suzuki has come forward with its model Maruti A Star. The car is named as Suzuki Alto for international market where the car is exported. This car is manufactured mainly through used products from the various manufactured car models or as the company calls it. 'the end of useful life'. Maruti A Star is a type from the group of 'end of the life vehicle' (ELV), a new initiative launched from the Maruti Suzuki group. The ELV specification vehicles have come to India recently but they are used greatly throughout Europe.

Maruti A Star is the first environmental friendly car launched under the A-segment cars of its group. In the manufacturing of these vehicles, fatal materials are avoided like-wise mercury, cadmium and lead. Metals like these instead can be used for other purposes like production of batteries.

With a petrol engine of 998cc displacement, Maruti A Star is available in four variants viz., Maruti A-Star Lxi, Maruti A-Star Vxi with manual and AT transmission, Maruti A-Star Zxi. The price range of this car is Rs.3.46 lakh to Rs.4.34 lakh. Maruti A Star comes under the category of hatchback car body type with a fuel economy of 14 kmpl in the city and 19 kmpl on highway. With 3 cylinders and MPFi system and KB series engine, the first car of Maruti which is fitted with this new engine, this car seems to be very powerful. Maximum power delivering capacity of the car is 67 bhp at the rate of 6200 rpm. While the maximum torque provided by the mill is 90 Nm at the rate of 3500 rpm. Maruti A Star has a seating capacity for five with pretty good leg, head, hip and shoulder room. The vehicle is equipped with MacPherson Strut and Coil Spring type of suspension system that results in efficient handling while driving. Toyota Camry is the epitome of the four-door, mid-size sedan. The best-selling mid-size model has long appealed to budget-conscious families for its reliability, low running costs, spaciousness, and (in most versions) good fuel economy, but at the same time the Camry has never been very flamboyant or exciting to drive. Over time, the Camry has come to be thought of as a little too 'vanilla' for some tastes—comfortable, nevertheless.
Nevertheless, after decades, this nameplate remains solidly at the center of the mid-size sedan market. Alternatives to the Camry have included the Chevrolet Malibu, Ford Fusion, Honda Accord, Hyundai Sonata, and Nissan Altima, among many others.
Whether you buy a Camry from the 1990s or a brand-new one, you're getting a comfortable, spacious sedan that performs reasonably well but isn't downright sporty. In recent years, the Camry has kept to the same formula, but Toyota has upgraded safety and added desirable options like a navigation system, heated leather seats, and a smart key system.
The Toyota Camry first was introduced to the U.S. market as a front-wheel-drive replacement for the rear-wheel-drive Corona. Quite boxy and basic, that first Camry won over masses of U.S. buyers who, during that time, were reaching a critical point of frustration over the reliability and quality of domestic-brand cars.
Subsequent Camry models became a little larger, more refined, and more comfortable and luxurious with each generation. At the time the second-generation Camry made its debut for 1987, the Camry's 115-horsepower, 2.0-liter four-cylinder was quite technically advanced as it was one of the first engines in an affordable four-door sedan with four valves per cylinder. Wagon variants of the Camry were reasonably popular through this period, too, and a five-door hatchback version of the model was even sold through '86.
Toward the late '80s, Toyota added a V-6 option for the first time, and it began offering all-wheel drive (All-Trac) on some versions. That was the start of the Camry's movement slightly upscale, and for 1991, Toyota broke the U.S. Camry line away from the version made for its home market, recognizing that U.S. families wanted a larger product and aiming the model solidly at the same shoppers who at that time were considering the Ford Taurus. Toyota had, in 1988, begun assembling Camrys for the U.S. in Georgetown, Kentucky, where it's still produced today.
Two different U.S. Camry generations spanned the 1990s. Of those, the first (distinguished by rounded sheet metal and soft features) offered a tremendous leap in luxury over the previous model. The latter fourth-generation Camry was panned at launch for its especially bland styling (and the wagon was discontinued), but it was an even stronger seller. Through these two generations the Camry didn't make any tremendous advances, but its four-cylinder and V-6 engines grew in size and produced more power.

2003 Toyota Camry XLE

This past decade has seen two generations of the Camry. The previous generation, introduced for 2002, introduced a rounder look once again—this time making major advances inside with significantly upgraded materials—with a stronger 162-horsepower, 2.4-liter base engine. A 192-horsepower, 3.0-liter V-6 remained a popular option, and safety features were bolstered during this generation with the phasing-in of side airbags and stability control on some models. Then, for 2007, the Camry was redesigned again, with a smoother, less slab-sided look, much-improved safety and safety features, and an all-new 268-horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6 and six-speed automatic transmission at the top of the range. Gas mileage was also improved across the lineup (up to 25/35 for the four-cylinder), and a completely reworked Camry Hybrid—with an EPA city rating of up to 43 mpg—was the star of the lineup. According to Audi, the next generation Q7 is supposed to be more fuel efficient than the current model, but until that generation makes its grand appearance, Audi has decided to offer a new engine for the current SUV. The first details for this new engine state that it will deliver a fuel economy of 39.2 mpg, up from the 25mpg of the current top-of-the-line engine.

The new 3.0 TDI quattro TDi engine delivers a total of 204 HP between 3,200 to 4,400rpm and 331 lb-ft of torque delivered between 1,250 to 2,750rpm. When equipped with this engine, the Q7 will make the 0 to 60 mph sprint in 9.1 seconds and will be able to hit a top speed of 127 mph. The new Audi Q7 3.0 TDI engine can be combined with the Standard, SE, S line, and new S line Plus specification levels.

The new Audi Q7 3.0 TDI models will be distinguished by 21-inch 5 segment-spoke alloy wheels, standard metallic paint, tinted privacy glass from the B-pillar rearwards, and running boards. The interior will get a more supple Verano leather upholstery, while the S-Line Plus package will include hard disk-based satellite navigation, Bluetooth phone preparation with online services giving access to Google Earth navigation mapping and a Wi-Fi hotspot for in-car internet access, an Audi Music Interface iPod connection linked to an upgraded speaker system, and the Audi Parking System Advanced with reversing camera.

On the British market, the new Q7 3.0 TDI is priced from £39,995 (about $62,300 at the current exchange rates).

                                                          The Acura TL has traditionally been one of the better choices available for a midsize luxury sport sedan. Though the TL typically does not deliver the excitement or prestige of competing European sedans, it counters with exceptional value and above-average durability and reliability.
                                         The prevailing trend is for cars to get larger and more powerful with each redesign, and such was the case with the Acura TL's newest makeover. The current model is the largest TL yet and offers more interior room; a powerful V6 engine and available all-wheel drive help compensate for the added curb weight. Today's TL also boasts a host of gadgets and gizmos that represent the latest in automotive technology.
                                                                          The current (fourth) generation may have upped the ante, but cutting-edge technology and bracing performance are nothing new for the TL. Older TLs are still known for their engaging handling and plentiful amenities and should make a fine choice for a used luxury sport sedan.

Current Acura TL

Now in its fourth generation, the current TL boasts a brasher look, highlighted by aggressive lines and a dramatic-looking front grille. The current model offers more interior room than the third-generation TL, as well as more power under the hood, and its ride is more compliant than its predecessor's.
Buyers have a choice of two trims: a base model and the sportier SH-AWD. Base cars (which are front-wheel drive) are motivated by a 3.5-liter V6 that kicks out 280 horsepower. As its name suggests, the SH-AWD version is all-wheel drive, and it's powered by a 3.7-liter V6 good for 306 hp. A five-speed automatic transmission with steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters is standard on both trims and a six-speed manual is available on the SH-AWD.
Base models are pretty well equipped, offering standard features such as 17-inch wheels, xenon headlights, a sunroof, leather upholstery and an eight-speaker stereo with an in-dash six-CD changer. In addition to all-wheel drive and a more powerful engine, the SH-AWD adds upgraded brakes, 18-inch alloy wheels, a sport-tuned suspension, sportier steering feel and performance-themed upholstery and metallic trim.
TL enthusiasts cherish the car for its cutting-edge gadgetry, and the current model does not disappoint. Standard features on base models include Bluetooth connectivity, satellite radio, a USB port and a dedicated iPod interface. Optional tech treats include a navigation system that offers real-time traffic and weather updates and a sound system with digital music storage capability.
In reviews of the Acura TL, our editors hailed its abundance of high-tech amenities, its roomy cabin and its sophisticated stereo system. They called out a few missteps as well, such as the car's bland interior and the fact that base models are hampered by uncommunicative steering and unremarkable brakes. Thanks to its much crisper handling and braking, the SH-AWD TL is a more compelling choice than the base model. The car's exterior styling is also a question mark: Some shoppers will love it, but others will undoubtedly find it overly assertive.

Used Acura TL Models

The current (fourth) generation TL debuted for the 2009 model year. There have been no major changes since, though the manual transmission wasn't offered in the TL's debut year.
The third-generation TL was available for model years 2004-'08. This TL was distinguished by its chiseled exterior styling, firm suspension tuning, powerful V6 and impressive level of standard equipment. Both a six-speed manual transmission and a five-speed automatic with shift paddles were available.
Two versions of the TL were offered in this era: base and Type-S. Base-model TLs built in model years 2004 and 2005 were rated at 270 hp, while 2006 and later models were rated at 258. Note that this revision merely reflected a change in the standard horsepower rating system -- the TL's engine was unchanged.

Type-S Acuras were equipped with a 286-hp 3.5-liter V6. They also featured a sport-tuned suspension, Brembo high-performance brakes and unique styling elements that included quad tailpipes. Unfortunately for enthusiasts, the Type-S was on hiatus for the first part of the TL's model cycle and didn't hit the market until 2007.
Both versions of the TL came with an attractive, well-built interior designed with a more sporting intent in mind. In road tests, we were impressed with this Acura TL's comfort and dynamic abilities but ultimately found that its front-wheel-drive setup hampered its ability to match the handling dynamics offered by top rear-drive sport sedans. The Type-S upped the performance ante somewhat, boosting power while adding crisper handling.
For a majority of shoppers, a used TL from this era will provide a good mix of fun, comfort and convenience at a reasonable price. Changes during the model cycle were few, but the TL received a midlife freshening for 2007, including minor exterior and interior styling tweaks and an upgraded navigation system.
The second-generation Acura TL was built from 1999-2003. Though less exciting than more recent models, our editors gave this TL very positive reviews during its run. Improvements were made throughout this period, and the car had a number of TL firsts, including Honda's VTEC variable valve timing and an optional navigation system. The powerful Type-S version, which debuted in 2002, should be strongly considered by buyers interested in increased performance. Regardless of specific trim level, just about any used second-generation model should serve the used-sedan shopper well.
The original Acura TL debuted in 1995 as a replacement for the unloved Acura Vigor. Two versions were offered: a 2.5 TL with a 2.5-liter inline-5 engine and a 3.2 TL with a 3.2-liter V6. Both models were available throughout the first generation's run, which lasted pretty much unchanged through 1998. As there is now little price difference between the two, we suggest consumers interested in a first-generation used TL go for the more powerful 3.2.

Chevrolet Captiva- This is one of the best looking soft roaders in this country apart from the Honda CR-V. It muscled stance with those soft looks lend it some sort of character. The pictures don’t do justice to this car and it would seem small however in reality this soft roader is big. Infact it is as big as the Hyundai Santa Fe. The head lamps are quadrilaterals and the Chevy bowtie sits atop the partition in the grille. The fog lamps sit just above the meshed air dam. It has a plastic skid plate to protect the bumper from scratches and rocks. The side profile reveals big outside rear view mirrors with blinkers on them. The 17 inch tyres for the Chevrolet Captiva in India also have some sort of substance in them and this lends them a character. The wheel arches also have a plastic cladding over them. The rear shows a coupe like stance with angular tail lamps. The rear bumper also sports the skid plates under which are located the twin tail pipes.

Interiors

Chevrolet Captiva- The Chevrolet Captiva features a higher stance than the others in this class and hence climbing up should be a bit of a hassle. However once inside the cabin, you would be greeted with a smart dash board. Brushed aluminium strips contribute to the nicely made up central console. The instrument panel looks simple and is supported by a big steering wheel with the Chevy bowtie resting on it. There is a navigation system, of which, the fonts are illegible in the bright sunlight. Unfortunately the quality of materials used seems inferior to the competition. There are some bad plastic bits abounding in the cabin. The gear lever is also half made of leather and the other half of metal. Powered goodies abound however only the driver gets powered seat. The aircon is one of the talking points in the Chevy and it has a microprocessor which filters particulate matter in recirculate mode. The front seats are comfortable however the rear ones seem a bit lacking in under thigh support. The access to the third row seats is quite easy however these are best left for kids. The boot space is also limited with all the seats up however the gas mounted strut tug lever helps in folding the second row of seats flat.

Handling and ride quality

Chevrolet Captiva- Been on a car platform, this means that all these soft roaders are easy going in the city. Starting with the steering wheel, it is light for city use however like all the Chevys in India, the Chevrolet Captiva’s unit doesn’t weight up nicely once the speeds rise. This makes it a bit vague. Been on a raised platform means that the car rolls a fair bit. On the sharp bumps, this translates to an unsettled ride quality. Once the speeds build up, the self leveling suspension works its magic. Overall, this can be called as an average performer in this lot and is nowhere near the segment bench mark, the Honda CR-V. Cornering at sedate speeds is acceptable on this car.

Engine,Performance and fuel efficiency

Chevrolet Captiva- The 4 cylinder 1995 cc turbo charged common rail direction injection diesel motor makes 148 Bhp and 316 Nm of torque. The manual transmission car is offered only with 2 wheel drive mode and hence this means that this car is quick off the block. It has one of the smallest motor and output in this segment. It races from 0-100 kmph in 11.72 seconds. It has a top speed of 176 kmph. The gear box is sort of notchy like the other Chevrolet units but nevertheless slots into gate well. The turbo in this unit is peaky and this means that there is sort of turbo lag at low speeds however get past 2000 rpm and the motor performs with gusto. The motor is also very smooth in its operation.
Hauling this car to a stop are disc brakes both at the front and rear coupled with ABS and ESP. Safety is also taken care by the Chevrolet Captiva featuring collapsible steering wheel, twin air bags and 3 point seat belts. Fuel efficiency due to the shorter gearing is good in the city at 9.5 kmpl and 11.5 kmpl on the highway.

This truly is a space-age dsign from the front, and evokes images of the Honda FCX Clarity fuel cell car as well as the new Accord or Acura, while from the side, it is quite like a Honda Civic.

The headlights are sharp and angular, there is a lot of steel on the grill, rear combination lights look sharp and snazzy. Flanks are neat and clean. Honda calls the design of the new City an ‘arrow shot form’.

The new Honda City is longer, wider and sturdier, says Honda. It is 4420 mm long - 5 mm longer than the old City, it is wider by 5 mm (1695 mm) and 15mm shorter while still giving you the same ground clearance and headspace. Wheelbase is now longer by 100 mm.

Interiors are much improved and smarter with a steering wheel that is borrowed from the Civic (but with added steeign wheel controls - aargh! - I don’t have that even in my Civic!), 5 Speed Automatic Transmission with a Paddle Shift option like in the Civic (as I said earlier, a first in its class), dual tone interiors, integrated audio system, great looking meters and dials. The interior design matches or even beats the Honda Civic.

New Honda City - i-VTEC engine

The 1500 cc i-VTEC engine in the new Honda City produces 118 PS - I think that is somewhat close to 115 or so bhp. Everyone, stand up and bow to the new mid-size emperor.

THE FIAT'S NEW SEDAN FIAT LINEA

After a successful beginning of the second innings by Fiat India with the launch of Fiat Linea in January 2009, the company has added another feather to its cap with the launch of Fiat Linea T Jet in India.                                            After the huge success of Hyundai Santro, India’s second largest auto manufacturer Hyundai Motor Co launched Hyundai i10 in same hatchback segment and it has gained much popularity in Indian market since its launch in 2007. Hyundai i10 is a premium hatchback segment model that finds its place between Hyundai Santro and Hyundai Getz. Offering quality is the key priority of Hyundai i10. Its styling features with standard AC system are very effective make it a fun car to drive. SKODA OCTAVIA RS

The Octavia RS is one of the most powerful and fastest mass-produced Škoda models. In addition, however, it remains a comfortable and safe companion.The RS design will get your adrenalin flowing and bring you genuine pleasure from driving. The sporty atmosphere can be felt in every detail.

Sporty leather seats with marked lateral support and an RS emblem stand out in the interior, as do a three-spoke multifunctional leather steering wheel, which is available with the automatic six-speed DSG transmission, and also noble steel pedal covers and a Swing car radio with a CD and MP3 player in an elegant frame together with controls for Climatronic dual-zone automatic air-conditioning.

An attractive exterior goes with a sporty car. The Octavia RS’s character is perfectly captured by the 18” Neptune light alloy wheels, bumpers with an integrated spoiler, an aerodynamic spoiler on the fifth door and the double exhaust. Let’s not forget the tinted glass, xenon headlights with rotary modules, fog lights in the RS design and LED diodes of the daytime running lights.

As the cheaper company in the Volkswagen Group, value for money is sharper than the Golf. The sticker price is, however, only a few thousand dollars cheaper. While you are getting a larger car we expected the pencil to have been sharpened a bit more. Pricing for the RS hatch starts from $37,490 for the six-speed manual petrol and $39,490 for the diesel manual. The wagon models cost an extra $2000. This compares with $40,490 for the five-door manual Golf GTI.

Standard features

Extensive equipment list includes: Alcantara/leather seats, three-spoke leather steering wheel (multi-function on DSG) alloy sports pedals, climate controlled air conditioning, six-disc CD player, MP3 auxiliary input socket, cruise control, automatic headlights and wipers, auto dimming rear mirror, chilled glove box, cooled front arm rest, storage compartment under front passenger seat, 12-volt power socket, 18-inch light alloy wheels, spoiler, chrome double exhausts, fog lights, sports suspension and red painted disc calipers. Wagon models further add a 12-volt power socket in the boot, rear window wiper and silver roof rails.

Design and function

Space and practicality

This is where the Skoda excels. The hatch and wagon models have plenty of room for front and rear passengers with five adults able to sit in comfort and enough room for luggage. Boot space is good in the hatch - 560L with the rear seats in place - growing to 1420 litres with the rear seats down. The wagon models have 580L and 1620L respectively. This compares with 350L and 1305L for the GTI.

The rear seats fold 60/40 and the rear centre arm rest doubles as a ski port for long items.

At 4597mm (hatch) and 4599mm (wagon) in length neither RS model is cumbersome to park or manoeuvre.

Ergonomics

Given the sharing within the VW Groups it is not surprising that the dash layout and design of the RS is similar to that of the Golf models. The touch-screen centre dash display is the same unit that is in the Golf as is the switchgear and instrument cluster.

Oddly, the RS manual doesn't get a multi-function steering wheel so there are no controls for the audio which means you have to stretch your hand to change the volume.

Safety

Safety items include six airbags, stability control, LED daytime running lights, anti-whiplash head rests on front seats, tyre pressure monitoring and ABS brakes.

The Octavia model gets a four-star Euro NCAP crash rating compared with a five-star rating for the Golf. This is because the Octavia is not available overseas with standard curtain airbags so was not tested with them.

Build quality and finish

The Skoda models have the look and feel of a Volkswagen; but the VW models do feel slightly better finished overall. This is in line with the product positioning of the cars and works the same way with the Golf when compared with an Audi A3 (VW also owns Audi).

Security

Security features include remote central locking and an electronic engine immobiliser. No security rating.

On the road

Fuel

Skoda claims average fuel economy of 7.7L/100km for the petrol manual (7.9 for the DSG) and 5.9L/100km for the diesel manual (6.0L/100km for the DSG).

In our real-world testing for the diesel we averaged 7.65L/100km for the highway cycle, 10.0L/100km for the city cycle for an average on test of 8.8L/100km. While this is almost 3.0L/100km more than the claimed average it is not a bad real-world figure for a mid-sized sedan.

Performance

Both engines have some get up and go but our pick was the 2.0-litre turbo petrol. Just like the fifth generation GTI, acceleration is smooth through the rev range and turbo lag is minimal.

The diesel engine is supremely refined and doesn't do a bad job as a performance power plant. However, it lacks the finesse of the petrol version. The limited rev range (diesel engines are not designed to rev high and are best kept below 4500rpm) means it is not as flexible as the petrol engine which screams all the way up to the 7000rpm redline.

The diesel is also almost a second slower to 100km/h than the petrol - 7.3 versus 8.4. We recorded a 0-100km/h time of 8.17 for the petrol model during our track testing.

Both engines now have the choice of a six-speed manual transmission or six-speed twin-clutch automated manual.

Ride

The Skoda comes standard with sports suspension but unlike many performance cars it is actually a good compromise between comfort and sportiness. The ride is firm but not uncomfortable although the low speed ride can be a bit jiggly. The RS doesn't get the option of adjustable suspension like the new generation Golf.

Handling/steering

With underpinnings from the Golf it is not surprising that the RS is quite accomplished in the handling stakes. The 18-inch wheels provide plenty of grip in corners and the RS only gets minimal understeer when pushed hard. Even then it is predictable.

THE BMW 520i

                                               The BMW 5 Series was completely redesigned for 2011. Unlike past versions, only a sedan is available, as the wagon has been replaced in North America by the 5 Series GT (discussed in a separate review).
                                     The base 528i features a 3.0-liter inline-6 good for 240 horsepower and 230 pound-feet of torque. Stepping up to the 535i gets you a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-6 that produces 300 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque -- this is definitely the just-right choice for most. Finally, the 550i has a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 that produces 400 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque. Each model comes standard with rear-wheel drive and a six-speed manual transmission. An eight-speed automatic is optional and all-wheel drive should be a late-model-year introduction.
                                             The 5 Series is better equipped than previous generations, with standard features that include a sunroof, power seats, a power tilt-telescoping steering wheel, Bluetooth and a 12-speaker sound system. Typical luxury upgrades (depending on the model) include adaptive xenon headlights, parking sensors, navigation, night-vision camera, active cruise control, an automatic parallel parking system, ventilated front seats and heavenly 14-way "multicontour" front seats.
Compared to the previous-generation 5, the current car returns to a more conservative appearance, one that shows a stronger family resemblance to other BMW sedans. It is also bigger and heavier, while mechanically sharing much with the 7 Series. Interior controls and electronics were also upgraded to the latest BMW norm, and the design itself returned to a more driver-centered dash layout. In many ways, the latest 5 Series represents a visual return to the past while carrying on the technological advancements of the present and future.
                                    Indeed, those technological advancements can best be seen under the hood, where turbocharging has yielded impressive gains in fuel economy. The new electric power steering is about on par with the old system in terms of feel, but low-speed effort has been greatly improved. Active rear-wheel-steering is also new to the 5. In total, the 5 Series remains one of the most confidence-inspiring and unflappable midsize sport sedans you can drive and buy.

Dynamic design, enthralling performance and exemplary efficiency – the Audi TT Coupe and the TT Roadster are now more attractive than ever. The design of the lightweight bodies made primarily of aluminum and the interior have been revised with great attention to detail, while new technologies lower the fuel consumption of the compact sports car. New to the lineup is a powerful and highly efficient four cylinder: The 2.0 TFSI develops 155 kW (211 hp), but is content with an average fuel consumption of just 6.6 liters per 100 kilometers (35.64 US mpg).
The second generation TT Coupe and the TT Roadster have made a name for themselves as design icons, similar to their predecessors. Awards such as the 2007 “World Design Car of the Year” document this status. A brawny, broad foundation, powerful shoulders and a flat roofline – the two compact sports cars have fascinatingly masculine lines. Their dynamic appearance is now even more expressive than ever.
The most obvious feature at the front of the car is the powerful bumper, which frames the larger air inlets with three-dimensional, sharply drawn out edges. The fog lights are set in chrome rings. Also sporting a new look are the lattice of the single-frame grille in high-gloss black and the optional xenon plus headlights. Twelve white LEDs arranged in a straight line at the lower edge of the headlights serve as the daytime running lights. These together with the wings in the headlight body are classic Audi design features.
The tubular, apparently floating reflectors of the tail lights add visual depth to the rear end of the car. The large tailpipes of the exhaust system – the 2.0 TFSI features a dual exhaust – and the larger, flat black diffuser set additional accents. A spoiler that extends at 120 km/h (74.56 mph) improves downforce.
The upgrades to the TT Coupe and the TT Roadster have added two centimeters (0.79 in) to both cars, which now measure 4,187 millimeters (13.74 ft) in length. The width of 1,842 millimeters (6.04 ft) and the height of 1,352 millimeters (4.44 ft) and 1,357 millimeters (4.45 ft) for the Coupe and Roadster, respectively, remain unchanged. The wheelbase measures 2,468 millimeters (8.10 ft). Four new metallic colors have been added to the TT color range: Scuba Blue, Oolong Gray, Volcano Red and Dakota Gray. Daytona Gray, pearl effect is also available with the S line package.

BODY

A key factor for the groundbreaking efficiency and excellent driving dynamics of the TT is the body, which features hybrid Audi Space Frame technology (ASF). Lightweight aluminum is used at the front of the car back to the B-pillar, with steel panels used at the rear. This mix enabled the development engineers to balance the axial loads perfectly and keep the total weight extremely low – prime parameters for dynamic performance.
The TT 1.8 TFSI weighs a mere 1,240 kg (2,733.73 lb), a good 100 kilograms (220.46 lbs) less than its closest competitor. The body of the Coupés weighs only 206 kilograms (454.15 lb), which breaks down to 140 kilograms (308.65 lb) of aluminum (68 percent) and 66 kilograms (145.51 lb) of steel (32 percent). The specific reinforcements in the TT Roadster – steel bulkhead, strongly ribbed sills, A-pillar and windshield frame – result in a 58 to 42 percent split of the two materials.
The ASF bodies of the TT are not only extremely lightweight, they are also very strong and low-vibration, providing the foundation for sporty and precise handling, the quiet ride and the high passive safety. A package of finely tuned retention systems protects the passengers in the event of a crash. The classic cloth top of the TT Roadster is a perfect complement to Audi’s lightweight construction principle. It contributes to a low center of gravity, fits ideally into the design line and takes up little space when folded.
Audi offers the soft top in two variants. The manual version features a central latch for opening and closing the top. An electrohydraulic drive opens the optional fully-automatic top in just 12 seconds, even while driving at speeds up to 50 km/h (31.07 mph). An additional acoustic mat further improves the already excellent acoustics and thermal insulation.
