Ons huidige politieke systeem raakt het contact met veel mensen in het land kwijt.
Een stuk kennis en betrokkenheid van het volk laat de regering hiermee liggen, gemist door desinteresse en wantrouwen van de gewone man èn van de intellectueel.
Dit 18e-eeuwse systeem is dan ook zwaar verouderd, achterhaald en contra-productief bovendien. Want zeg nou zelf, waar zijn we mee bezig als twee partijen slechts kunnen regeren met behulp van een blonde joker als lijm om de boel bijelkaar te houden?

In plaats van partijenpolitiek zouden we ideeënpolitiek moeten ontwikkelen, waarbij er niet meer één keer in de vier jaar op personen en partijen gestemd wordt, maar continu op ideeën, projecten, maatregelen en hervormingen. Dit moet niet bij een enkel referendum blijven.
De uitvoering van deze ideeën moet gestalte gegeven worden door een ijverige groep deskundige mensen die zich niet meer bezighoudt met onderling getouwtrek, lobbyisten en partijpolitieke idealen, maar met sec het uitvoeren van de wensen des volks!

Die wensen kunnen ingebracht worden door iedereen, zowel bestuurders als elke andere burger.
De ideeën die het meest trending zijn of de meeste likes hebben in een facebook-achtige setting of het meest omhooggestemd zijn in een forum-achtige omgeving op internet worden als eerste uitgevoerd.
Natuurlijk kan er ook op een idee gereageerd worden en over gediscussieerd worden, eer het rijp is voor uitvoering.
Hierin liggen ongekende mogelijkheden voor het verbeteren, aantrekkelijker en inzichtelijker maken van bestuur. En alles moet hierbij open en transparant zijn voor iedereen en dat kán ook met de huidige techniek op internet.

Dán betrek je mensen bij het besturen van het land.

Kijk goed want het is hetzelfde bootje op twee verschillende plaatsen in de grachten van Groningen, schijnbaar op hetzelfde moment :)

De satelliet heeft een rondje om de aarde gemaakt in de tijd dat het bootje een paar honderd meter voer denk ik.

Wij Nederlanders zijn een volkje dat door zijn kruideniersmentaliteit verwoed verzamelaars is geworden.
We spaarden net als onze opa's natuurlijk altijd al postzegels, munten, kaarten, bierdoppen, en noem maar op.
Zegels plakken, bonuspunten, freebies, wuppies, superdieren, air-miles, en ja, zelfs koopzegels.
In dit tijdperk zijn daar ook vrienden bijgekomen op Hyves, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter en sinds kort Google+.
Maar zeg nou zelf, wat doe je nou helemaal met die netwerken, buiten het delen van content? In de zin van dat het iets oplevert?
Social Media zijn gewoon het nieuwe sparen. We sparen vrienden!

Then they grew further and further into their immortal omnipresence.
Well they're not close, but they do know to find soooo much. That's really amazing and it made me think of this animation.

Kun jij een hetero of homo herkennen?
Als variant op mijn onderzoek naar de herkenbaarheid van Belgen of Nederlanders, leek het me leuk om te onderzoeken of je hetero's van homo's kunt onderscheiden, a.d.h.v. een pasfoto.
Doe ook mee op door de pasfoto's te bekijken en je keus te maken.
Vergeet ook niet je eigen pasfoto te uploaden, dat zou ik heel erg op prijs stellen, want zonder pasfoto's geen onderzoek.

Kies met de vlaggen!

Op de Belgische tv viel me foto van een jongeman met een onmiskenbaar 'Belgisch' hoofd op. Of was dat verbeelding?

Ik neem aan dat Belgen een 'kaaskop' ook herkennen, dus om te onderzoeken of deze waarneming terecht is, bedacht ik deze website als onderzoeksgereedschap.

Iedereen die aan dit onderzoek meedoet, hetzij door op de foto’s te stemmen, of liever nog, door een pasfoto van zichzelf te uploaden, doet dit volledig anoniem. Er worden verder geen gegevens gevraagd.

De foto’s zullen ook nergens anders voor gebruikt worden dan voor dit onderzoek op deze site.

Having ashWare built in MODx, and needing a way to count the downloads in the games section, made me search fot a shopping cart solution that easily integrates in the CMS - MODx.
Ecwid appeared to be a free hosted shopping cart service which does the job very well.
The downloadable games are priced very low so the only bump to take is reaching for your payPal.

Internet Explorer 9 VS Chrome 10

IE9 appears to look almost exactly the same as Chrome 10. And I must admit that it's a huge improvement to IE8.
They copied Chromes' combined search and address bar, which I think, is absolutely brilliant.
And they even managed to gain 25 pixels of screen height by putting the search bar and the tabs bar next to eachother.
For the developers they nicely left the IE7 and IE8 views available in the tools section (F12).
The javascript engine has made huge speed improvement, but still can't catch up with Chromes' V8 engine.
It seems like Chrome renders pages more intelligently, which results in less flickering and rebuilding lag.
The back and forward buttons look much more minimalistic, but not copied as well as the buttons for home and star

Verstopte neus hack

Een beetje een vreemde hack, maar ik ben toch benieuwd of andere mensen er ook iets aan hebben.

Heb je weleens dat je neus verstopt zit; dat je gaat liggen en wilt gaan slapen en dat dan opeens je neus dicht gaat zitten? Je dan niet meer lekker ademen kunt en je door je mond gaat ademen; je tong droogt uit, je gaat snurken etc.
Wat doe jij daaraan? Heb je ook een truc om weer lucht te krijgen? Vertel het hier; ik ben er heel benieuwd naar en misschien vele anderen met mij. En dan bedoel ik geen neusdruppels of -spray.

Voor mij helpt het volgende:
- Ga op je favoriete zij liggen,
- Doe het puntje van je duim of de knokkel van je wijsvinger tussen je lippen,
- Zorg dat je hier een ontspannen houding in vindt.
- Houd je tanden wel op elkaar,
- Je lippen gaan daardoor iets uit elkaar,
- Al snel zul je merken dat je neus open gaat en je weer vrij kunt ademen.

Mijn theorie bij deze hack:
- Als baby drink je melk aan je moeders borst,
- Je kunt tijdens dat drinken alleen door je neus ademen,
- De tepel tussen je lippen zorgt voor een reflex dat je neus open gaat,
- De tepel imiteer je met je duim of iets anders en de reflex treedt evengoed op.

I have a great idea that improves Google Search

The way google image search has been enhanced lately (an endless scrolling list rather then pages) should be applied to regular search as well.
It's really a pain in the a** to have to push the button for the next page all the time, especially because the button is not on the same position on every page. So you have to reposition the mouse after every click.
Rolling the scroll wheel would be so much easier and you can leave your eyes on the search results rather then looking for the exact position of the next page button every time.
An easier to implement solution to this is positioning the button in a div that sticks to the bottom of the screen, but the endless list is so much better!

Sync photo's on your iPad or iPod

In the iTunes library there's music, movies, tv-shows, podcasts, books, programs, ringtones, radio, ... but not photo's! Why, Apple?
I know there is a way to choose the folders to sync to your iPad, but I want them in the Library, just like all my other media.

Sneaky Yahoo injection

Installation of Panda Cloud antivirus presents me a checked checkbox with the indecent proposal to set Yahoo as my default search engine.
I really do like Panda because of it's cloud solution. But I don't like this imposed use of Yahoo.
When I install CCcleaner or other software from Piriform I am presented a checked checkbox for installation of the Yahoo toolbar.
This sneaky Yahoo pushing must be stopped.

Sort your navigation menu

This article about how important it is to attract your website visitors' attention and gain their trust, by offering them valuable information first, made me think.
Google analytics offers clear insight in the popularity of the links (in the menu) of your website, so you could sort your menu items on popularity with the most popular links at the top, in order to have your visitors seeing these links earlier.
At the same time, these most clicked links appear to lead to the information you're offering :)
So when the most popular links are placed at the top of your menu, your visitors will find what they are looking for faster and they migth stay on your website for a longer time, maybe then they'll fill out your contact form or even buy your product.

that groups of people become manipulatable or controllable in this way …
