How to Change The Default Location of The Screenshots Folder in Windows 8

Taking of screenshots in Windows 8 has taken another dimension.
Unlike the previous versions of Windows which requires the use of third-party Softwares like “Greenshot” or launching the default Snipping tool, it's now much more convenient using just one key combination.

By default, all screenshots taken by the new 'screenshot tool' in Windows 8 are saved in the directory C:\Users\\Pictures\Screenshots.
Nevertheless, you might want to move the default folder to a new directory in order to make it easier to locate and backup.

Therefore, in this tutorial I'll be putting you through the easy steps of going about this.
Note » This method works on both Windows 8 and Windows RT.
HERE'S HOW TO GO ABOUT IT...

Open the Windows explorer and navigate to C:\Users\\Pictures\Screenshots - Replace "" with your Pc's User name.
Right-click in the 'Screenshots folder' and select Properties from the list of options in the popup menu.
Click the “Location” tab on the "Properties" box and then click on the “Move” button.
Navigate to the NEW folder you wish to use as the DEFAULT folder and then click Select Folder.
Click “OK” to accept the new changes.
Finally, you'll see a Move folder dialog box asking if you want to move all existing files from the previous folder to the new default folder.
Click ‘Yes’ to accept or ‘No’ to cancel it.

And, that's it...

To restore the default location i.e C:\Users\\Pictures\Screenshots,

Navigate to the newly assigned/custom folder
Right-click inside the folder and select “Properties” from the pop-up menu.
In 'Location' tab, click Restore Default.
(The previous/default Screenshots folder path will be inserted into the edit box) - Click ‘OK’.
A dialog any will appear asking if you want to create the Screenshots folder - Click ‘YES’
Finally, you'll be asked if you want to move all files in the old location to the new location i.e The original location - Click ‘YES’
Note:-
Since the Custom Screenshots folder is probably opened,you could get a warning stating that the location's not available. - Click ‘OK’ and restart the Window's Explorer if it crashes because of this.

How to Automatically Disable Wi-Fi On An Android Device When it goes into Sleep-Mode

There probably isn't any reason for your Android phone's Wi-fi connection to remain active while not in use as it continues to drain the battery.

Though, disabling Wi-fi on devices with 3G / 4G connection, will only increase data consumption and will probably do no good to the battery life unless it's configured not to sync on the mobile connection.
Therefore, this can only be advised on a Wi-fi only Android device such as Tablet.

So having taken that into consideration, here's how to go about it.

Navigate to the Wi-fi settings
Select Menu and choose Advanced
Use the “Keep Wi-fi on during sleep” option.
Finally, choose between the three settings available i.e Always,
Only when plugged in &
Never.

Note »
*. ‘Always’ mode :In this mode,the 3g or 4g connection is not in use.
However, it's a big threat to the battery life.
*. ‘Never’ mode : In this format, the Wi-fi connection will be cut off once the Tablet goes into 'sleep mode'.
But note, it doesn't cut off immediately as it takes a few sec. to do so.

How To Boot An Android Phone or Tablet Into Safe Mode

Booting of Android phones or Tablet in 'Safe Mode' is thesame as booting a Windows Pc into safe mode in order to load 'Windows' without any third-party softwares.

When this is done, you can easily detect and un-install any misbehaving Software(s) as well as troubleshoot the device to detect issues with the phone's battery life, freezes,crashes and other closely related problems.

Here's How To Boot Into Safe Mode.

For Android 4.1 and later devices

Long-press the Power button until the Power options-menu appears.
Again, long-press the Power Off option until you're asked if you want to re-boot the Android device in safe mode.
Select ok.

For older versions of the Android device.

Power-off the device.
Long-press the power button to turn it back on.
Release the button. When you see the logo appear during boot-up, simply hold down the Volume Up and Volume down buttons.
Keep holding these two keys until the device boots into Safe Mode.

To exit the ‘Safe Mode’, simply restart the device normally i.e Long-Press the Power button, Select “Power off”, then long-press the power button again to switch it back on.

2. Click on “Make the mouse easier to use”
3. Finally, Check the box which says “Turn on Mouse Keys” under “Control the mouse with the keyboard” Menu.

Just like in the Screenshot below, you can increase / decrease the mouse speed/Acceleration.
You can also press Alt+Shift+Num Lock combination to instantly activate the mouse keys.

Also note that If your laptop doesn't possess the NumLock key, then this trick would't work.

Some days back,I posted a tutorial on ‘How To Speed Up Windows XP Start Menu’ and in today's post,we'll be quickly brushing-through the process on how to increase Shutdown speed in windows xp.

Note that editing the registry is very sensitive.Therefore,it is recommended you do not do otherwise from the steps below.
To increase your PC's shutdown speed,follow these steps »

Click on Start » Run(WINDOW KEY+R)
Type Regedit and hit “Enter”.
Next,navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control and in the right pane,right-click on “WaitToKillServiceTimeout” and select “Modify”
Change the default value from '12000'(12 sec.) and type-in a new value between 2000(2 sec.) & 20000(20 sec.)
"OK" it.
Exit the Registry and Restart your PC to confirm changes.

That's all.

If you're still not satisfied with the shutdown speed,or your system shuts down too quickly,then you can easily change its value from the last step above until you're satisfied.

Now,change its value to 2 to enable the spell-check feature.
To disable it,just change its value to integer “0”.

The automatic spell-check feature is only turned-on for text boxes containing more than ONE LINE,

Re-select the earlier uploaded template and now,the new ‘Upload’ button will work just fine.

This trick(I call it) has been tested positive in Symbian S60 devices with a UCBrowser,but has proved abortive in a Java mobile phone,so you can give it a try on your device to see how well it goes.

You can test-run it to ensure it's working perfectly.

Note :
Your Anti-virus MIGHT detect this as a virus,but do not fret as it's totally safe.

To stop/disable this effect at anytime,just

Launch the Task-Manager by clicking the Hot-keys (Ctrl + Alt + Del)
From ‘Processes’ tab,locate “wsscript.exe” and end it.

How To Remove Shortcut Virus From Computer And Drives.

Have you ever encountered 'Shortcut viruses' on your flash drive/External Hard disk before?
If yes,then you should know how frustrating they can be.
Well,as it is,just having an Anti-virus on a Computer system isn't protective enough, but occasionally updating it as new viruses are being made and spread each day.
Amongst these numerous viruses,there's this virus which is capable of changing/turning folders of extremely large MBs/GBs into small KBs and its often named “regsvr virus”.

(NOTE: Do not confuse it with the System file regsvr32 as they are two entirely different files.)
Like I mentioned above,when this virus strikes your Computer it automatically changes folders & sometimes files into a shortcut which can neither be opened nor run.

So, in this tutorial, I'll be giving some tips on 'how to get rid of these viruses on a system and retrieve your files back.
As there are `a thousand and one` fixes for this issue, I'll try as much as possible to give the easiest of them here.

How To Get Rid of Shortcut Viruses On A Computer and Removable Drives

First and foremost,it's advisable you update your Anti-virus to see how it all goes and if this doesn't solve the issue,you can proceed to the methods below.

Apart from updating your Antivirus, there are some softwares capable of getting rid of this virus.
The best of them are listed below 
So,download any of those and follow the instructions on the sites to use them.
- a.) Insert whichever drive is infected by this virus into your system and check the drive's extension i.e A: .... Z: from ‘My Computer’
  b.) Click Start » Run / Winkey+R and type "cmd"(without quotes) in the textbox provided - Hit Enter.
  c.) Now, input the code below into the command prompt and hit 'Enter'.
  attrib -h -r -s /s /d E:\*.*
  (Change E: to your drive's extension.)
  d.) Do check to confirm that the virus has been completely cleared-off.
- Else,you can use this alternative.
  a.)Go to the control panel to untick “Hide protected operating system files” by navigating through the File-Menu i.e “Tools > Folder Options”... Now Select the “View” tab, and Scroll down till you see “Hide protected operating system files”, untick it.
  b.)Navigate to “C:\Windows\System32” and manually delete regsvr (Please note: This is different from the file "regsvr32.exe".

Now,with all the softwares & manual fixes highlighted above,one is bound to work for the drive.

How To Delete Real Player History In Mobile Phones

By default,mobile Real Player app. saves up to 6 most recently viewed files in a Symbian phone and this is rather infuriating as everyone making use of the application will have an easy access to all files which the user had recently viewed on the system.

In a case whereby you pick up someone else's phone to watch/spy their videos without authorization,then it is 'very' impossible to deny responsibility.
But if it's a must that the person shouldn't know,then what's the solution?
Would you Format/Restore thier factory settings?

NAH,that's stupidity...
What else can be done?

In this tutorial,I'll be showing you an extremely easy way to clear your Real Player's history without passing through a whole lot of stress.

Requirements

X-Plore / FExplore
Rom Patcher(v3)

Once those are gotten,we are ready to fire-on.

Steps To Clear Real Player History.

Launch/Open your File Manager(Xplore)
Navigate to C:\private\10005A3E\
(Launch Rom Patcher if you can't gain access to “Private” folder.)
Next,delete the .dat file present in it,i.e ‘mediaplayer.dat’.
Finally,open your Real player to confirm 'history' deletion.

That's all.

If you would like to permanently disable this feature,then follow the steps below.

Launch your Xplore and navigate to C:\private\10005A3E\
Next,delete ‘mediaplayer.dat’ and create a new-empty txt file
Name it Mediaplayer.dat and change its attributes to ‘read only’

You can now exit all open applications and try viewing a video file to ensure all is working perfectly.

In a post not too long ago, I shared a site capable of revealing hidden links behind shortened urls.
But as it is, I discovered this site was of no help when it comes to un-hiding/revealing links behind specific websites such as adf.ly,fapoff.com,hotimg.com,lienscash.com... and this made me do some further research.

Sites such as Adf.ly, Adfoc and Linkbucks, are url shorteners that allows you to shorten/mask a url and at thesame time earn a meagre from them.
Once the link is clicked,the user is first taken to an ad-page where you'll be required to wait for about five seconds and thereafter a “Skip Ad” button is displayed.

During this period of waiting, the counter could freeze and this will require refreshing the page.
It becomes even more frustrating when on a mobile phone,as in most cases,'there is never a counter' not to talk of a Skip Ad button appearing.
In this case,the visitor is forced to leave the page.

So,if you happen to come across these links and you feel the content/file is too valuable to be ignored,then worry not.
In this tutorial,I 'll be giving two sites with which you can easily bypass all forms of ad restrictions either on mobile or Computer.
