Hi Wellys,
I wish to be the first to post a comment, just to show I'm computer savvy ... not! Well done Patrick on persevering with this in the face of complete inertia by the club. I'm not familiar with blogging - presumably it's somewhere for chit-chat and comment? No doubt all will be revealed in time.

CONGRATULATIONS CHARLES

A jubilant Charles Adams was named as WGC Sailing Club’s ‘Helm of the Year’ at the AGM on 10th April.

He also won the Annual Burgee and Personal Handicap Series, came 2nd in the Fast Handicap, and was awarded Most Improved Helm because he’d reduced his personal handicap by more than anyone else, for the second year running.

It was definitely Charles’s night and he was congratulated by everyone at the meeting including one who said: “You used to be rubbish at sailing, whatever happened?”

Dave Lambert was the “bridesmaid”, being runner up in both the Annual Burgee and Personal Handicap Series. Much to his bemusement, he also won the “booby” Porthole Trophy for allowing his mast to fall down. His wife Lynn decreed that it would be displayed in the garage.

Roger Morse had his moment in the spotlight as winner of the Fast Handicap Series. He also came 2nd in the Winter Pursuit, which he milked for all it was worth by insisting on a separate photocall!

Other awards went to Peter Thornley (1st Slow Handicap and 3rd Annual Burgee), David Campbell (3rd Fast Handicap and 3rd Personal Handicap), and Alan Campbell (1st Winter Pursuit).
